  1. Finally upgraded to a decent providor...but on both Phoenix and alchemy get the message "Can't log into 2L on this computer" Please contact support if you feel this is in error.......I figure it's something mild I'm overlooking, but what?

Hello, I'm looking for a residential 16th or thereabouts, minimum 937 prims...would perfer over 1000....I am quiet and enjoy landscaping my lots and decorating my home...don't want a high riise going in next to me, that's why I'm looking for a new place. Been with my current provider for well over a year. Currently at 1,500 L week...would like less :-), but can afford a little more....thanks for taking the time to read this. Just answer here and I'll get an email when someone replies.
  3. Hi all, I have a nice parcel and am trying to find just the right house for it. Is there a smarter way to search than paging thru thousands of places in the Market Place...or using the not so great at all inworld search? I get tired of trying to find relevant keywords and parameters. It would be wonderful if there was some sort of central listing of at least some of the manufacturers... Oh, in case you know of something like this....footprint of about 25 by 30 max...would like to keep it under 200 prims, something vintage like Victorian/Edwardian/country farm style. and copy mod....not asking for much ;-) Everything I find is off in one or two ways....and using current search methods come up with the same builders over and over again.... Thanks in advance.

  5. Hello, I have a neurological condition that makes the hands shake and my eyes don't focus well. Sob- then grins. I would love it if there is a tool that would assist me in placing objects and getting them aligned correctly. Any ideas?

Under the circumstances, I am going to commend myself for regarding your words being intended as an attempt at humor.
  7. Good evening to all of you, I have an alt that l use about half the time. I'm curious if there is a way to set my parcel to also be my alts home tp destination. Believe me, when you press the Home button when logging in and have forgotten you didn't have clothes on when you logged out, it is embarrassing. Somebody can see my nekkid pixels. The other question is this, I would like to be able to have payment record on file for this alt. I've purchased Lindens in world and from the MP for it and still no show. any help is certainly appreciated and thanks in advance.
  8. Thanks Caitlin, will try it with the modem and see if that helps. Funny about the alt. Wanted to try something inworld, so signed in as alt. Alt had lost all the hair and some other attachments as well as having the face somewhat messed up. Searching for a word there but messed up is close. Just slightly off? Took me half an hour to get it looking like I left it. I've known it for quite a while, The internet is out to get me. Sigh.
  9. About a month ago my main avi started having problems that I thought were lag in some areas. They've been getting worse now almost daily. Have tried the SL viewer, Firestorm, and really all of them. Was just in world and gave up. avi will just stand there when I want to move, then slide ahead or walk and not want to stop. Have moved my settings way back on almost all graphics. Have almost no problems on my home parcel (Lionheart Region), and my alt using the same avi moves twice as well with almost no movement problems! I've been using my particular avi/ao for almost a year and it never had any problems. Doe's anybody have any ideas. PS; experimented today with other ao's, going from Vista to TuTys to none....no affect at all on the problem.
  10. Fantastic and thank you.............That is the best explanation I've had on this.... my thinking and the reasoning behind it is this. 1st the reasoning.... I'm disabled and in a condition that I am no longer able to work (took me over a minute to type that sentence) ... my social security / disability is, to put it nicely, inadequate to be able to do what I would like to do all the time here in 2L...actually 2L is a guilty pleasure for me as something I probably shouldn't be doing financially......but hey, it lets me run and fly...so good trade off..... Like I said, I am a premium member but my finances say that at least this year I will only be able to pay quarterly... the parcel I have is that $8 per month which is affordable...my thinking has been to get something that would keep that monthly payment at $15 which I can afford ... in another 18 months when my real world house is paid off....then I should be able to have some lee way in the whole process.... One of the things I'm running into here is "real estate" agents only want to rent....and most of the places of the size I would be happy with are priced a tad high...for which I don't blame them. but does tend to be inconvenient for me... also want to be able to make the parcel I buy into something that I am comfortable with.. so basically I guess I want everything for nothing......sigh.... here again, by the time I'm finished with writing something I don't know if it made sense......I sure hope so... thanks again for listening...
  11. Good point, but the closest neighbor took their store and everything and just left....all the other lots that are within two parcels of mine are empty..... a ton of new parcels for sale in the immediate area....so ....ehh

Hi there, I was surprised last year when a bid I put on a piece of auction land won....so I have a parcel on Boreal that is about 1100 sq mtrs.. very nice but it's covered by snow LOL....that will teach me not to experiment with auctions when I'm the only bidder.. But it has led me to define what I am looking for in property...the list is as follows.. 2048 sq mtr (or close anyway) I would like more but am on an income that prohibits that. I want to BUY only....not rent I want the use of all the prim space on the parcel and to have full mod use so I can alter the terrain to suit me. A side not to that is that I want to make the parcel blend in with the surroundings.... As to surroundings, I love rustic...mountains are great, rivers fine ocean okay..... roads are cool because I like to explore on foot and in cars/motorcycles.... don't care what the level is G M or A..... I am adding this part.....I like the mainland...but am not tied to it....am a premium member ..... I don't know if I should put this part on this.....but cross my fingers it's okay...if anyone would like to buy a approx 1100 sq meter snow covered parcel let me know make me an offer I can't refuse... Anyhow I hope this all made sense...If not that is kind of normal for me.... thanks in advance Duane

I had a feeling that would be the answer.... oh ....woe is me... there, now I'm done with the drama.....and will have to do two things.....sell my parcel and find another parcel.... looks like I've got a challenge to keep me busy for awhile..... thanks again.

I have a premium membership but don't have one of the the 512 units....I bought an auction lot about a year ago and while it's nice...I have found it's not what I am looking for in a parcel....my parcel is a little larger than 1024 by about 100m... and in the snow country of Boreal.... I want to upgrade to the 2048 size but would want to trade my parcel as part of the deal....I'm on a fixed (or should we say broken) income and saving where I can is paramount.....Is that permitted in 2L....or will I have to sell my land separately? Actually, I probably have about 3 gazillion questions about land and ownership.....but this one is first on the list:smileyembarrassed: Thanks in advance.. Duane
  15. LOL that's me in a nutshell..... a random stranger,,,yep...stranger than most that's for sure.. Opinionated.....sure....l And unfortunatley I have no proof of what I contemplate doing...they are just opinions.... Like I say, I grew up in the business and formed an idea of what works and doesn't work from many sources with my father being a prime example for me. Later on a manager at another store told me "What ever you do, be it merchandising an endcap or building a home, always stand back when you think you are done....and then picture that job with a big sign on that says THIS WAS DONE BY DUANE SPENCER and when you can see that and be proud, you then have a start." I thnk that migh be in the running for longest sentence in the forums...never did manage punctuation. Anyhowo since those days so many years ago, I do that with everything I see...always searchig to find better ways in everything.....I got out of retail for many years and started and ran a data processing consulting business for years (mostly with DOD aplications) and after a major life change became a radio announcer until retirement. So as you can see, no portfolio,, no CV, no pictures....just the words of someone nobody knows........ which is one of the main reasons I started this thread! It just pains me no end to see some of the inworld talent get shortchanged because they don't know how to present a fine product. I was in a store last week, having been directed to them by the SL search...was just looking for mens clothes. Beautiful store, wonderful apearence signs at the front of the store even said "mens clothing[" with all of their other products listed along side. This store, like so many here, was kind of a rabbit warren of small rooms to wander around in, I search for several minutes and just got tired of looking for anything that just resembled mens clothing or a sign pointing me in the right direction....just TPd out of there and found a shirt to buy at one of the next shops listed in the search box. Another place was done as (I sure hope I'm not stepping on any toes here} as a "beach" area, with all the shops in clapboard and everything on sand with the sound of seagulls and surf....very nice at first, but then you looked again and you had no idea of where you were in the complex. The avenue was all bright beach sand, with a narrow band of planks the same gray boards seperating it from more bright beach sand up to the shop fronts which were surrounded by the same beach sand and the shops had nothing to differenciate them....it was a Symphony in Sameness with more than half the shops vacant.....great general idea, should and could be a magnet for fun shopping....with just a few changes. So, yeah, I have nothing concrete to offer as a bona fide....and darn it, if truth be known (I'll hate myself for saying this) I wouldn't mind just doing walk throughs and giving advice/opinions for free.... Like you said the economy here is so fascinating. So multi-faceted and complex....If you study economics you realize you are actually studying the way people behave not studying graphs and numbers, but why's and becauses. If that makes sense. Hmm, am I into "novel" stage yet with this reply? You now have an incomplete CV of me as well as a very disjointed set of opines... don't know what that's worth, but then look what you paid for it :manlol:

  18. Hi, Hello, Howdy, How Ya Doing? There, got that out of the way....this is more of a question rather than an actual service offer.....I tend ot travel around and look at a great many things in SL and love to marvel at the time, lindens and effort that many people have put into their in world business locations....some amazing construcions! I also notice at how many of them are shall we say, not as swamped with lookers and buyers as they should be....I grew up in an era that was the height of the "dime store" age. Me father owned some and I worked both for me and for other national chains. I am no world beating expert, but I do know something about merchandising both the product and the location......It really pains me sometimes to see a fine product in a magnificent location that isn't selling, because it is just "stuck" somewhere handy, or the customer can't find it (has happened to me more than once in world...Or maybe the area the store or even the shopping area are not done in a style that says....BUY HERE..... I would love to be able to talk to some people about how to display their wares and maybe how to spruce up their location.... I wouldn't want to be making millions out of the idea, but wouldn't want to give it away for no income either .... My question is, does anyone who might read this thread think there would be a market for this service and do you have any ideas that you would think might be helpfu in starting up such a service..... Anyway, that's about it...... thanks in advance and as usual I'm Duane:manwink:

Actually the music is one of the things that pushed me over the edge :catlol: And ..... have rented a wonderful parcel have bought and installed a great home (several thumbs up to Dragon Magic, for excellent design done quite inexpensivly) and am moved in with music.....so many people to thank for all your advice so I won't thank you all one at a time....consider this a group hug.....blush.....

  21. WOW....look at this, I go away for about a day...and so many replies....you guys are wonderful....(but I didn't say that) A lot of great advice here... I shall slowly (ever so slowly) pick my way through it and see what happens..... You know, even as new at SL as I am...I will find myself getting ticked off at the ppl here in SL, then find a groupl like you all and it more than evens out.... Tell you what, when I do get a new place I will hold a quiet and decorous party and you will all be invited..of course it will be BYOB....but oh well..... grin Seriously, I can see I have to do some dilligence on this and everything should work out....I'm just going to have to remember that I don't want to jump into anything real quickly (that's a RL problem of mine).....thanks again...

Hello and I should get the obligatory "I'm not sure this is the right place for this thread" out of the way :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2: I currently have a SL Premium account and with that I have this deal.... a 512 home that is basically a glass box in the middle of a gazillion other glass boxes in Violin...Nice home but with a limit of 117 prims I can either put up adequate window coverings or have some furninture and decorations in the house.... For this I pay (appox) $29 (US) every 3 months and get L$300 every week....Now that's a great deal and know it....oh, I also get to the "Premium" sims....yawn.... I am a disabled person and that means 2 things....the first is I tend to spend an inordinate amount of time in SL and would enjoy a "home" that offers a little more in the way of thngs to do (btw Linden home say no scrips, so I don't have music)... THe second thing is I live on a fixed and very limited income so any substansial increase in cost would have to be thought over by me...I can live without the L$300/week (it would help me cut down on my inworld shopping addiction). I have an alt that is renting an apartment for less than L$50 a week...furninish with lots of room in a nice location so I believe that what I would like can be done....probably.....maybe.....I hope.... I would like to find a place to buy/rent/take over by force <(kidding on the last) that could be mainland--island--skybox G--M--A (I have the same luck in picking up girls here in SL as I do in RL....so don't care if it's Adult but I am a believer in the fact that every pixel has the right to be naked if they want..::manlol:f If the parcel is bare, well pixel homes are pretty inexpensive and I've got some furniture and stuff still in my inventory....... a size between 512 and 1024 (probably dreaming on the larger parcel...but hey, dreams are fun....or can be.) If the price and parcel are right, I will be able to anywhere between 3 and 6 months in advance and will put it right in your pocket...ok...I 'll just hand it to you.... I'm really looking for a place that I can have some nature around to enjoy...either already there or I'll put it in..a place where I can have a pet or two and enjoy them (partial to cats)....A place where I could stream some decent music in to listen to.......you know ... a man cave...... Not sure what kind of response (if any) I'll get from this request .... but I feel good actually bgeing proactive in my life (either life).... Thanks for your attention. Duane

I thank you all for your conversation about this...I currently have a 512 Linden home as a premium member and have been getting itchy to find somethng with more prim availability and without a hundred other townhouses and their windows staring at my windows. The available prim count is 117 and I was amazed at how fast that filled up...even with 1 prim furniture of just a room and a half.. lve been nosing around looking at prices and trying to figure out what to do... Live on a fixed (acutally broken) income and don't have a ton of discretionary money to spend here...sigh..thought about auctions, boats, etc; and also renting....haven't done enough research yet to even get a vague idea of what would be the best angle.... So threads like this one are perfect for me to read and get more confus.....er ... a more coherant idea of what todo....
