  1. Few of the groups I've participated in have any idea how to conduct a discussion/debate. None have been able to avoid bias in the host. Failure to take the host's side typically gets me ejected. Especially when one keeps presenting hard, easily chacked facts that upset the host's beleifs. Nor have I found groups searching for truth and edification. They have all been striving for a soapbox with which to achieve validation or a means to virtue signal. Often participants cannot discern what the conversation is about and jump off into their biases and beliefs without addressing the actual topic. Should the topic be nuanced, I find it is generally hopeless. I am of the opinion that there is no unbiased discussion forum/platform in SL. Especially since the moderators have limited forum discussion to SL related topics. Wait... wait... you are keeping the magazine scandalous or the Blab office or... Surely you aren't running short of titillating content for the Blab! I mean this is SL the virtual sex capitol of the meta-world. And I think you are just trying to make it sound like part of the job so you can charge hours. I suspect the behavior may be more recreational... which I suspect... 😂
  2. I guess all the nice girls went to FF... I took this at The Oasis. They have a photo platform with dozens of backgrounds. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The Oasis I/9/122/2108 - Unfortunately this is one of those regions where all LMs land you in the same place. you'll have to look around for a teleport. Get on the main street and walk east to the end then south and wind around to the zoo.
  3. Without knowing which brand and model AO it was, we have no way to answer your question. Stephanie's suggesting to RESET the scripts is the usual fix. Be sure you are in a Scripts OK region. If you log into a No-Scripts region the AO can stall for that session. To fix the stall, move to a Scripts-OK region and detach and attach the AO.
  4. The Fruit Islands used to be one of the larger sailing and flying areas in SL. With the introduction of Bellisseria more and more of SL is connected. I can fly and sail further in the main areas of SL. The Topless Cruse people often held their events in Eden and Fruit Islands. Not so much any more. I think that is because there are now so many interesting places to sail in the rest of SL the islands are being ignored. Driving between islands is difficult. 🙄 So driving is a thing only in the main areas of SL. Also, I have found the owner of the Fruit Islands a bit abrasive.
  5. If the Lab is doing something or sponsoring it then it is posted in the SL websites. When you find it on Reddit it is something residents are doing. You may also find official SL info in the Lab's Facebook or YouTube channels. I have no idea what Thune is. The search engines are clogged with links to Senator Thune and what he is doing.
  6. @Dazzer01 There are a couple of people working with VR for SL. There are two problems. Performance is a big problem. The other is the user interface. Try and imagine how we would handle all the control panels in VR... I did get my Gear VR working with a modified version of FS in SL and Sansar. The VR phase has sort of died out. Most of us would love to be in the immersive 3D experience. But, headsets are uncomfortable. I thing FAR too uncomfortable for recreational use.
  7. That is a bit unfair, but only a bit. The Redux (aka BOM) versions of the Slink body are the most efficient bodies going. Low in scripts and polys. Are people still making clothes for Slink bodies? A few are. But no doubt the number is shrinking. However, there are still many designers still selling thier existing Slink versions. While I have moved to LaraX I still wear my Slink stuff 80+% of the time.
  8. Entering anything in search is NOT a risk. Search queries are sent as text to the server running a search app. I suspect the viewer limits the length of a request just as browsers do. The search apps are designed to handle the max length and limit the apps input length. So the search ALONE is not risky. However, what it finds and returns in the results may be dangerous to click on. The text is unclear as to what one is supposed to do with the 'key'. Presumably, the idea is to put the 'key' in the Monkey Wonder sploder. THAT... is risky. We have no way to know how the sploder is scripted or what the 'key' may trigger when entered. These are things to stay away from. But they are not to be feared. If you really, really, really want to check it out, use an Alt that has no payment info or L$ balance.
  9. Hmmmmm... should I... or shouldn't I...
  10. Let me tell you about the backseats of this unit...
  11. Netflix and SL have different requirements. Netflix uses a buffered stream. If you have a slow or high packet loss connection Netflix increases the buffer size. This gives it time to reload dropped packets and stay ahead of the play-head. SL is interactive. It cannot anticipate what you will do next. So latency is a BIG problem. While we can cache things we can't buffer because SL has to wait on your typing and mouse inputs.
  12. Blab photographers show up at the inconvenient times...
