  1. Unless you have done something inappropriate, there is no reason to be worried or sacred. Accounts can be put on Administrative Hold for many reasons. If you have specific questions, you should contact Linden Labs directly for an explanation. It could be a billing issue if you have a premium account and own land. Or, it could be for other reasons. The only ones that would know why your account has been placed on Administrative Hold would be the Lindens.
  2. Good reply and explanation! I would add that groups are also formed in RP sims so all members from different time zones are kept up to date on the happens of RP while they were away, able to ask OOC questions, report bad behavior to moderators/gms. Oftentimes, RP Groups will have multiple groups for different factions/functions in the group. Also, if you have an extensive group charter, there may not be enough room to add a SURL/LM. Personally, I have several groups from those for my various business endeavors, RP groups that I use when I run an RP on my land, land access groups, and private personal groups. I think the sky's the limit where groups are concerned, but having a group is not synonymous with a specific piece of land.
  3. I found this set of videos useful in reference to using the maps that may come with mesh items purchased. Not sure this is what you are looking for, but should give you some working knowledge. http://modemworld.wordpress.com/2011/08/29/mesh-in-sl-a-tutorial-by-robin-sojourner/
  4. LOL...I think you are terribly optimistic about "old habit goes away after the first few hours"! Took me years to get the way I am now. Being older and set in my ways, may take me more than a few hours to change. Honestly, I am not sure how much I will use it, but am anxious to see what I can do with the clothing templates. While it is still new to SL, I really hate mesh clothing, maybe I have limited imagination, but it all looks alike to me. I think there is still room in SL for layered clothing and of a conservative bent. So, I want to see what I can do with something that is alot more natural than a mouse. I will never be a graphic artist really...my drawing skills are abominable, but I do what I do for enjoyment and creativity, sort of like Grandma Moses did when she created her art work. I like digital art, and strive to add to it, whether via prim creations, textures, modeling, etc. I find it fascinating and actually incorporate some of the ideas and applications where I work, which has nothing in common with various creative endeavors in SL, in a non-traditional manner. Drives my bosses at work crazy but ends up being quite useful. Also, I am curious to see what is possible with Sketchbook Express for iPad and the desktop verison. Wondering if the files will interface with Photoshop at all. I wish Adobe would put a little more effort into making Photoshop portable for iPad. I ordered the items direct from Wacom and wish now I had went another route. Will probably be the end of next week or the middle of the following week before the order is received. My experience with them has been rather odd from them not being able to ship to a different address than a billing address, to having to reverify my information by phone after the order was placed, and now, I have received an email me asking how I came up with my email ID I have been using since 1985 or '86 AOL days. I don't know if they are trying to provide excellent and secure service or what...I find it odd, very odd. Anyway, I am anxious to get started and will let everyone know what I thinking in the near future.
  5. Thanks to everyone that responded. I sincerely appreciate the feedback. After doing more research and listening to valuable advice given, I have taken the plunge and just ordered the large Intuos with the wireless setup and the case. I think I will wait on the pens for a bit till I see how the one that comes with it reacts. Not sure how I am going to arrange my desk for this (is no more room anywhere LOL) to be effective, but with the tilt I may be okay. Again, my thanks to everyone.
  6. I went back and tested some temporary textures using both Phoenix and Firestorm. It is hit and miss what can be seen the next day or by others...is also hit and miss if the person is in the sim when texture is uploaded. Is no pattern from what I can see, but I didn't spend a lot of time on it either since I don't use the methods you normally use them for. Might check the JIRA. Also, you might look at Picasa. Fotobucket, or another source where you can post your work then take it down after a certain time if temps textures are not working for you.
  7. Simple way to resolve this, either buy a piece of land on the adult mainland or rent one for "adult" behaviors. Many Adult sims will rent you a themed skybox for an hour or so. You do not need anything large or expensive to create a nice cozy "love nest". Use your LL home for normal daily behaviors. Not only will you insure you are meeting the "fluid and ever changing" LL stance on what is and isn't allowed in mature sims, you will also be supporting the SL economy, which seems to be collapsing rapidly these days with long time merchants closing down and people giving up their sims. Good luck!
  8. Have you contacted the owner of Bits & Bobs or other Animation places where they got theirs?
  9. I use phoenix and know that when using temp textures generally the person needs to be in the sim at the time I upload for them to see; otherwise, it is gray. I know when I log off that the texture goes away in inventory...sometimes, when I log back on the next day, I can see it fine...others it is just gray. It may be a viewer function...may be a quirk that is now being remedied. I really don't know. Have you asked them what viewer they are running?
  10. If you decide to do regular flexi prim skirt and need ruched textures, try Limehouse. I don't have the LM with me at the moment, but I know they have several to get you started. Also, you might try looking at Sick Bubblegum. I can't remember if she has ruched or not.
  11. Base color numbers of a skin is merely for a starting point to begin adjusting. Even with the very expensive HUD product I use when creating shoes, has a limited selection of starter bases to begin adjusting with. Personally, I use a white texture base on the skin portion of a creation, I have no clue what others might do. Using the base RGB of the skin base, I feel is a better starting point for me, but since we all are different in how we approach things, this may not be workable for others.
  12. A lot will depend on the type of tinting hud used. If a creator uses an inexpensive one, they generally have limited options they can off the customer to chose from. If a creator uses an expensive Hud (these can range from 4,000L on up) that allows more customization or, to set the RGB, you should be able to get close to your skin color barring shadowing and highlight. Also, it takes lots of patience and practice on the user's part to adjust the color appropriately. When buying shoes, ask the creator/seller what what type of Hud they use. I use a very expensive high end Hud that I include for my customers so they will have the most options to match their skins. However, regardless of the price, it still will only be close due to the shadowing and highlights the skin creators used....and the patience and taste of the customer. I have often wondered why many of the skin creators don't offer to their customers the RGB numbers to the base of the skin so they can more easily adjust their shoe skin. I under stand protecting one's creativity but the base numbers should not effect the over skin creation.
  13. I have been tossing around the idea of purchasing a tablet for computer drawing, but need have some questions and need advice from those that use them, either professionally or as hobbyist, before investing. I tried using a small Bamboo a few years back (borrowed) and did not care for the pen that came with it plus I found it difficult and terribly small. Could not get things to coodrinate ....this was when the Bamboo first came out...can't recall how long ago that has been. But, I tound it rather awkward to use and didn't invest. I currently run an iMac with a 27 inch screen and use CS5 Extended. What I would like to do, is be able to use one of the Intuos or, Bamboos for making SL clothing (have some other drawing needs outside SL as well..this is merely current example) for curvy lines...some that I can have more control over and a bit more natural input device.. While CS5 allows me to make straight perfect lines, everything else looks horrible. It looks like some child drawing with crayons. The Pen Tool has it's limits. Using a regular mouse, Mac Track Mouse, and/or a trackball are difficult for control in my opinion. But, I am older and use to paper and pen to be creative for many years...it is natural to me. Computer art fascinates me and allows me to be creative in ways I never could before so I want to explore more. I don't know if this is possible or even how to go about doing this with one of the above devices. What I want to do is be able to print out say Chip Midnight & Robin Woods templates on paper, put it on the Intuos/Bamboo...do my art work on the paper so to speak and have it show up on the template in CS5 accurately. I am looking for more hand control than what mice allows me to do. I am older and a pen is much more natual in my hand than a mouse. Is what I am whanting to do possible? Is it easy to do? Are there size issues between paper & the on screen templates (I generally work on 1024 x 1024)? What would you recommend. I am looking at possibly the medium to large Intuos 5...leaning towards the medium one due to size. Do most run with USB or Wireless? Thanks!
  14. Checking out mesh to see if it might enhance what you create is a fabulous idea...you may find you do not like it and do not wish to use it. I have been dabbling with some mesh building elements; thus far, I am not that impressed. Mesh is generally too prim weighty for me....it looks good, but is about it...doesn't really add to the user experience any more than sculpts do. As far as mesh for clothing, so far, all I have seen produced in relationship to clothing looks the same. Why do I want to look like everyone else? Until the deformer is in place and actually works, I am not interesting in even exploring mesh clothing. Even with mesh enabled viewers, mesh doesn't always render correctly (no it is not my machine or internet.) for me and others. I don't wish to be like the crowd and redo my shape to fit what some designer may think is correct. I certainly would poll my customer base and get their ideas and opinions on what they are looking for in designs and clothing. You current client base may not be interested in this unfullfilled niche so you may need to go outside your client base and poll them. Contact come of the Child AV type groups (probably hundreds out there) for their ideas and opinions what they see as missing. Good luck on your new venture!
  15. I have hated this trend since I noticed the skins and shapes on MP earlier this year. The teeth are what get me...reminds me of some dysfunctional chipmunk with an orthodonics issue, as well as an eating disorder that packs fat on there posterior and thighs for the winter hibernation. I wish I could say I hadn't seen these type avs waking around but I have. I have seen a number of this less than stellar looking AVs in some adults sims. Oftentimes they are very short as well, my AV is 5'6" in SL and I tower over them, with an uber "talk to me and I will kill you" attitude. Can't be soon enough these go away.
  16. Whats the pay for builders and do you supply the building materials?
  17. Okay, some of you that have had more experience with this new MP move. I have a question about these folders. I ALWAYS box up my items because I sell in world and use vendors. I read there is a max number of folders that can be used. What I don't understand is how to get all my items in world...was trying to upload 6 new outfits...without the folder deal. Could find no info what to do with new itesm.
  18. Uuummm...you can mix and match fashion pieces in SL just as you can RL. You might look at...I am not on right now so may get this wrong...Cute Kitty...they have some nice stuff that might fit your Vic/Lolita side. Do a keyword search in the Market Place for the various genres you are looking for. Look for items that you think might work well together and wear them. You will have your own unique fashion style in no time.
  19. Agree, check with the designer. Designers design, which doesn't always mean they coordinate things well. Also, mesh is relatively new so it may be an issue with the creation process, something the designer may not be aware of. Personally, I don't like mesh. Nine out of 10 avs wearing such items will be invisible to me and look very odd half missing on Firestorm. I've not encountered the Nirans viewer so not sure what "allows for multiple layer adds" I am assuming we are talking clothing layers? Or, are you speaking of attachment points on the AV? I have noted that some folks using multple attachments on the same point, looks odd to those that don't have a viewer that allows that.
  20. Agrees with other respondants, due to unnatural or non-existent lighting effects, most use shadows, highlights, and baking effects to give life to flat 2D images...not only does this happen with clothing....it also happens with building textures, sculpts, mesh, furniture, etc. all to make the world more realistic. Not everyone likes it, but a merchant goes with what sells the best generally. I been in SL for 6 years and have yet to find a solution that suits everyone. I can say, that AV skins and clothing are MUCH BETTER than they use to be. I remember clothing and hair before flextible prims. I remember when you bought an outfit that is what you bought...came with no extras like shoes, jewelry, accessories, etc. Most of the clothes were flat and drab. Designers and creators have made things much more realistic with their artistry over the years; however, that artistry will not appeal to everyone. There are limitations what you can and cannot do. If you are unhappy with an item, contact the maker and see if they will create you some customized clothing without the shadows. But, be aware, since the items may not be sellable to the masses, the items may be be more expensive than "off the rack" items. Also, you could invest and make your own clothing to suit your tastes and needs.
  21. I thought the premium gifts were to be a monthly thing if you went premium? The program has some promise, but like alot of things I have seen over the years, the follow through with LL is just not there. I have been a premium account holder since I joined SL in 2005 and, I have to say the ones I received were a bit of a disappointment but guess I have been in SL way to long not to be jaded. Guess we will need to wait to see if this program has died. --||-
  22. I am not going to argue with you. You seem to have all the answers. But, SL is FREE to download and access. Give it a try it might surprise you.
  23. Yep, LOTS and LOTS of bots gaming traffic for many of the shops, RP sims, clubs, etc. that are at the top of search. I do have to agree with the original poster that what is advertised should be what is paid out, and I can understand it being the "principle" of the thing. However, to get upset over 2L, doesn't make sense to me. The stress factor and drama alone is not worth 2L. I would simply go elsewhere, unless of course there is no elsewhere then I would put say $5.00 of my own RL money into SL and not have to deal with the hassle. I forget there has been a paradiagm shift in those coming into SL over the past couple of years. It use to be that camping and free things were for new folks 60 days or less to allow them time to get use to SL before deciding to invest In-World. While free is nice, most seem to want something for nothing...most think they are owed and expect it all for free. Doesn't matter if a merchant, RP, or club owners has to invest and spend there personal money so Freddie or Jayne Freeloader can have some nice things, some Ls they can spend elsewhere, or a have a good time. Few even say thank you...it is just expected you do it cause you owe them. *rolls her eyes*
  24. I wonder if they realize that such aggressive profiles are such a turn off that most people will have nothing to do with those folks? I know I will have nothing to do with those people because my experience has been they are MAJOR DRAMA seekers. I always like the ones by" some females", and I use that term loosely, that are so aggressive and amazonian...makes you wonder 1) if they are female, 2) what are they trying to hide being so tough. If you have to be that bada@# in their profile why would anyone want to have anything to do with them? 3) when did it become bad to be a soft gentle female?
