  1. Clothes are a sticky issue to begin with, even in the real world there are knock-offs or copy cats of designer clothing. I don't know of any places to register your designs maybe others can help you. But, I would caution you, if you purchased full perms mesh, full perms sculpts, full perms templates and full perm textures, you can bet other people have as well lowering the chances your outfit(s) is/are unique. You will have to be careful registering so you do not include anything you did not create yourself...templates, textures, mesh, emblishiments, sculpt items, etc. If you used items from other creators in your outfit(s) you will need to check the licensing or, contact them if you plan to feature them .
  2. The max number of prims in a linkset or, total object is 256. It also depends on the size and how far apart your prims are. Can read more on the wiki http://lslwiki.net/lslwiki/wakka.php?wakka=lin
  3. What looks weird to you? Your weird and my weird are probably completely different. To me the bow is too big to begin with because I know when worn it will stretch out of shape and become distorted. But, I know this from experimentation and lots of experience in SL. Yes, it will look good in the previewer because the model in the previewer is based on the old default AV "Ruth" . The layered clothing templates we use were taken from Ruth's original shape. Since Ruth was pretty figureless, when you put items of clothing on your AV they will not look the same. You might want to go to the test grid and do your uploads to save upload costs or, use temporary textures to mess around and experiment with till you get the item perfect to upload to main grid.
  4. Not sure if this was ever posted, some of you might like to read the article, especially if you participated in the research. http://munews.missouri.edu/news-releases/2012/1105-virtual-reality-could-help-people-lose-weight-fight-prejudice-says-mu-researcher/ http://www.mnn.com/green-tech/computers/stories/can-a-kick-butt-video-game-avatar-make-you-healthier
  5. I just tried this with a couple of building alts I use that have various states of stuff on file, paid account, etc.. I had no trouble accessing via the website. Have you tried accessing that way? We all know LL NEVER changes processes without telling us they are making changes. LOL
  6. You will have to forgive me here, I am new at this whole mesh modeling thing and probably have no clue what I am talking about. May I ask what viewer you both were using when importing to SL? It is probably just me, but I am not sure all viewers are created equal when it comes to uploads and calculations I can't prove it...just an odd feeling I have when doing some projects using different mesh creators and different viewers to upload.
  7. Sounds like you may need to up your LOD settings. While I do not wear mesh clothing, I have been told by a number of folks LOD should be set at least 4.0 for mesh and sculpts. Creators try to be conscious of LE, so it is possible you have a something that is low polygon and a high LOD is needed. Also, check to make sure other items you may be wearing do not have some transparency effect to the texures. it would be a conflict between alphas as well.
  8. Thank you! I wil do some more research. I know there has to be a way to make it nice and clean that can ignore my fumble fingers.
  9. If you need help with the MLP (lord noooo, I can't help you makes my brain hurt), Builders Brewery has some classes now and then on MLP. Or, if you do a search for a shop called Black Tulip, there is a 3-4 book series that is inexpensive that can be purchased that takes you thru the process. Best of luck!
  10. Thanks for posting this. I really wish someone would update it and fix the bugs. I use to use Qavimator (ok, messed around with it) but I was told recently that it doesn't work for Mac and crashes on saving. :-( Qavimator was really a nice "free" product and worked well. I know a lot of animations have come out of out Qavimator over the years. I know Danish Visions use to teach classes on it helping many folks learn to animate and make poses and animations. Would love to see some crafty scripter donate their time and effort to fix it for folks to use once more.
  11. There is lots of philosophy out there whether to package or not to package. Some of it depends on permissions of your packaging/contents versus simple delivery of contents. Some of it depends if you use a vendor system or if you are using a "contents for sale" object. I am not sure, since I am not using it at the moment, but I don't believe my vendor system will deliver the times unless it is packaged. Some of it depends on whether you want to use your packaging to "brand" your products with your logo. Some consumers perfer a package they can rezz and unpack, while others prefer a folder of the items straight to inventory. The simplest way to vend your products is an object with the contents set for sale, which will deliver a copy of that content to the buyers inventory in a folder. As far as Market Place is concerned, dragging a folder with the contents to the Merchant Out Box (don't forget to hit the upload button in the lower right corner...LOL I have done that a few times and wondered where my items were) and uploading. When sold, it too will deliver a folder to the buyer's Market Place In Box. How you decide to deliver your product is really up to you and your personal preferences. AND, what you decide now, can always be changed later. Good Luck on your new venture
  12. Thank you both for your replies. Yep, been playing around and failing so thought I would ask to see what others might do. My drawing skills with graphic programs are uumm...less thatn desirable. I thought there might be like a pen tool setting or something that would allow a fat line or something to be drawn when you used it. Will check out more tutorials! Again, thanks for your replies.
  13. I agree there is a market for sculpted nails if you like that sort of thing. The pair I received was impossible to fit correctly and finally just deleted them. They looked sort of nice in a "deadly let me rake your face and kill you sort of way" but, I suppose there are those out there that like that look. Meh, mesh hands...I really hate most things for the AV that is mesh. I have to compromise my shape to much for the sake of some designer's creation. No thanks! I think the best solution, until the OP has more skills and understands how things works In-World, would be see what you can do with glove and sock layers.
  14. Have you tried taking off EVERYTHING...I mean everything you possibly can...including AO, hair, all attachments and huds? Rebaked lately? Cleared cache? Did you do a clean install? Something else you could try is loading the default "Ruth" shape, then putting on your correct one. Sometimes, the AVs get out of wack and going back to Ruth helps fix it.
  15. One of the reasons animated items are so costly is animations are labor intensive to deal with not to mention very costly to builders purchase. Adjusting animtions IS very time consuming to set properly, even with experience. There are "sitter" products available that will help reduce time/labor involvement. There are some free ones out there like MLP and I think the other one is N-Pose. I didn't care for I either so I use a purchased product. Do a Search In-World or check on Market Place.
  16. One of the graphic gurus might need to weigh in on this, but I would think that if you are able to save layers with an alpha channel into .tga or .png formats through .psp you should be fine. I think you should also be able to use Adode Elements as well, but have not used it for years. I don't know what tools are availabe in PSP or how easy it is to learn or how costly it is. Many many people use GIMP because it is FREE. There are some basic clothing classes using GIMP at Builders Brewery. And, there are tutorials on the web and youtube if you google them. I am a Photoshop user and have learned to use it since I have been in SL. Oftentimes, I have translated GIMP steps into steps for Photoshop. You might be able to do this as well for PSP, but honestly, I think most people use GIMP or Photoshop.
  17. This is just for my curiosity. For those who design and make SL clothes as a hobby (even if you also sell them), I have a few questions: 1). How and why did you get started? I have been in SL for a long time learning how to create buildings, landscaping, sim wide builds, and making other things for RP. I have just gotten around to learning to make clothing while attempting to learn Blender. I do it because it interests me, requires Photoshop skills I didn't have before, and I cannot find more modest clothing or what I need for RP. 2). What tools do you use? Do you use mesh, etc.? I use CS 6 Extended. Currently purchase mesh and sculpt components from other creator, albeit am looking at creating mesh in the near future. 3). Do you make clothes that you would wear in Real Life, or clothes that you would only wear in SL? I make both. Clothes I would wear in RL are quite a bit more conservative than what I wear in RL. But, a lot of that has to do with availability; thus, why I design for a different kind of woman. Also, I have a fascination for costume so SL gives me another canvas to explore. 4). Do you make lingerie, sleep wear, bathing suits, outer clothing, etc. I general make outerwear or fantasy type costumes for themed RP 5). Do you show off your clothing creations? Where? I only have a few pieces right now. Clothing takes as much time and tthought for me to create as do my buildings. I have them for sale at Plaine Jaine in the HHS-The Village in Villevotte. And, most I have for sale on MP. Also, some of my newer releases can be seen on my blog. http://hellhousestudios.blogspot.com/ I am working on YET ANOTHER clothing creation tutorial for SL along with gathering resources to post to my resource page on the blog. This is purely for my curiosity and as a result of discussions in SL with others.
  18. Be glad that security measures are in place to flag odd account(s) behavior.. I know it is very inconvenient, but with the holiday approaching, there are tons of hackers and scammers going round in world trying to relieve SL Residents of their hard earned cash In-World and to hack/scam personal credit cards or paypal accounts. Better to be inconvenieced for a number of days or have to deal with RL repercusions of idenity/credit card theft. Tis the Season. Personally, I am not sure LL always contacts people when accounts are released. You might try logging in to those accounts in a day or so to see of the account is off of hold. If you do not receive a response, I would call Linden Labs. Have all your information available. Be polite. I am sure they receive many calls and requests for help. Good Luck on your venture and enjoy SL.
  19. Check the LL website under your dashboard and see if your email address is still equipped and checked to be used. Also, you can download your transaction logs, but they are only good for 30 days. While not as detailed in some ways, that report will list your MP sales. Otherwise, you will need to deal with the MP reports, which I agree are not very useful.
  20. I use a Mac and have had no issues with Blender, but I do not make clothing mesh. IIt could be you do need Avastar, but I do not know. Contact one of the In-World Blender groups like the JASS group, perhaps they can help you. Avastar is a paid add-on for Blender you can purchase In-World or at Gaia Clary's website http://blog.machinimatrix.org/ You can also find lots of information and tutorials there for making mesh and sculpts.
  21. I suggest you check out some of the Destinations LL posts. You can visit the places listed ,admire what the creators have created and form your own opinion. The unique thing about SL is it is Resident created by some very imaginative and talented people. LL might provide the platform, but the Residents are the creative force behind the way most of SL looks.
  22. You could google it like I did....http://yabusaka.blogspot.com/2012/02/guide-for-replacing-skin-textures-of.html
  23. Ummm....did anyone ever answer the original poster before this sidetracked?
  24. That is a good question, Agatha. I ask a question the other day about unwrapping the current av for a layered clothing question I had in an In-World group, and the answer was it would require a new AV to do what I wanted to do. The consenus of that group was, if a new AV was introduced it would be the end of SL. Their reasoning was it would put so many current creators out of business and regular residents would be angry over no longer being able to use items purchased based on the current AVs, there would be a mass exodus from SL and LL would go bankrupt. I have tried to look at this from a number of sides. If they could introduce an additional AV, and give people a choice which to us, it might be a palatable solution...could phase the old one out over time. Personally, I wouldn't be very happy as a creator to have all my work and the major investment I have made in supplies go belly up because a new AV was required because of mesh clothes. If it was phased in, you could have new residents restricted to a newly introduced AV BUT, I don't know what the technical impact this would have or how difficult it would be to do. Someone smarter and more technically savvy would have to answer that one.
