  1. You could shut off a number of things like shadows and keep the environmental settings the same day/night. Of course, even if you get it perfect for your viewer, it probably will look bizarre to many of the rest of us since we run different viewers, graphics cards, settings, operating systems etc. Not to mention the number of people that probably wouldn't see your feet in the first place because of not using a mesh viewer. People can at least see my feet. I don't like the add on feet and the hassle of dealing with changing them all the time. I am more worried about others seeing half of me as being missing wearing mesh than I am with the color of my feet. Plus, SL feet don't contribute to lag in a sim. You an always tell the guys that are using non-mesh viewers, they tend to avoid women with mesh items on because they can't really see half of her. So many people are use to the SL default feet that you would probably have less comments just using the default. A nicely made pump minus addon foot is just as gorgeous. You can also wear stocking or socks that will minimize bad looking SL feet. Personally, I wouldn't worry with it if I were you...set it till it looks good for you and heck with anyone else. Something you could try if you have a good hud that allows you to store a number of skin tones. Set up a skin tone for each of the differnt light setting...when the light changes, pop on the hud, change the skin and done till next light change.
  2. Isn't that more or less copybotting the item from the original creator to put your name on it; thus, opening yourself up for a DMCA to be filed if you claim the creation yours and is not?
  3. Maybe Shoe Creators should work with Skin makers to come up with a more acceptable solution?
  4. Wow, I hate to hear that about Curio. I have been a Curio Customer for years now. I hope the dispute is resolved soon and the skins back in world soon.
  5. Did you try running a search for what you are looking for? Try running searches under Emo, Goth or Vampire for shopping venues to visit, while there try speaking with others or checking out their profiles to see where they might hang. Also check out the Market Place for items you are looking for. Personally, I think I would amend your original post and take out your real name; it's not something we really need to know. Only share that with those you come to trust rather than a bunch of anonymous internet users. It's for your safety .
  6. I am still boycotting mesh clothing and hair. I personally don't want to have to do workaround to fit some designers design, but I have said this over and over again. I don't like the static nature of mesh...I will take flexi over it any day. I secretly have to snicker at those AVs wearing mesh trying to attract the attention of the opposite sex at various places wondering if they are wondering why no one is talking to them. I wonder if they ever wondered that they might not be as appealing as they think? Just because they see themselves doesn't mean others can. I have been to a few sims lately and I thank my lucky stars I am not half headed. no chest, no lower half. And to be honest, it is most of the women out there...occasionally a man...who I see this happening to. I have some nifty layered prim/sculpty clothes that looks great. While it may not be "new" or "improved", it looks better to me than half of be being invisible to someone that does use V2/3 viewer. Will have to be exponential leaps before I will start investing in pricy mesh that may or may not work.
  7. Is a shame that good land bought a few years ago for decent money is no longer valuable. A friend of mine had to abandon her's recently. Seems with all the LL Houses, ease of renting, and the down economy, land is just not what it use to be. Is no way you can really get your money back either from what you paid in a few years back. Is rather sad to me. Hope your RL resolves to your satisfaction and if leaving SL for a time, hope you return soon.
  8. Every Scripter I have worked with always tells me "pay me what you think it worth", which not knowing scripting myself can be difficult. I most certainly do not want to undervalue the skills required to create a script for me, but I also do not wish to over pay since scripts are generally used in items I sell to others. I am not sure I will be much help, but here goes. Usually, when I have custom scripts written, I pay for the completed project rather than a per hour basis. I want to know a ballpark figure of what it is going to cost me before I give consent for the project to commence. Before hand, we geneally discuss if this custom script will be exclusive for my use only or, if the scripter can sell as a product to others. I will pay more for an exclusive script than one that will be resold to others. I will also pay more for one that is not readily available or, something I want customized...door scripts, teleport scripts, texture changers, etc. You might browse the Market Place to see what the pricing is for similar products. Check with some of the many scripting groups in SL, they might be able to give you an idea how they proceed. Would be good for you to think about what you would like to do, write it down for customers to read, etc.
  9. Good call! I am glad SL is open enough we all can have diverse opinions, and not be afraid to voice them for fear of reprisal or attack. The world would be incredibly boring if everyone held the same opinons about situation. What is appalling to one, probably isn't to others. Good open dialog with all opinoins stated helps shape our experiences and possibly change our opinions. Diversity is the spice of life. Have a great day!
  10. I am sure this is an innocent and informational post, but it sure sounded creepy to me. Maybe I am just jaded by my years in SL, but I got this feeling this question was asked so someone could find groups to camp out inthat pay dividends rather than investing and contributing to SL from their RL purse. I know many do not have a lot of money, but the freeloaders in SL these days is just appalling. Not only do I pay to enjoy SL, now, they want me to pay for them as well! WRONG! Most group owners are savvy enough not to pay out Lindens per week nor, CHARGE their members. I says don't drink that mocha every day or whatever, and invest $10.13 USD and get yourself 2500L to spend. Not only will you be doing yourself a favor, you will have the satisfaction of knowing you are contributing to SL. Will take a lot of time spent in groups making .01 to .03 cents per week.
  11. I always doing away with a Surname. I have really not changed my opinoin. Changing the AV name is confusing to me and I am going to call a person by their name listed as original designation not what they have above their head. Using a user ID for names is not my choice on how I wish to be represented in-world. If you really feel this strongly, I suggest you contact Linden Labs and express your desire.
  12. You know I have to agree with you, Freya. Personally, I wear a facelight from time to time, not because of vanity, but because I want to, especially when needing the light for photos. My favorite hair seems to have them built in and uneditable, but when wearing it, I generally have it turned off...thankfully, the creator had enough wherewithal to understand not everyone likes to have facelights turned on. For me, facelights are the least of my problems. I find it more annoying the chat spam from gestures and AO that make those standing, wander about. I guess I COULD ask people to not wear those annoying AOs or the spamming my chat with senseless drivel that fills up the whole screen(Clubs are the worse about that and I avoid them like the plague) or, stupid sounds. I could also complain about AVs being giants or midgets. I could complain about female AVs with breasts the size of two small planets. I could complain about short AVs that push the limits of what is considered child-size. I could complain about men pretending to be women and women pretending to be men. I could complain about a lot of things, but I won't. Instead, I am going to be tolerant of others rather than taking their personal behaviors as direct insults to my SL experience. Rather than make it all about ME, ME, ME and what I desire, I am going to do my best to continue to co-exist with others, fully aware they have just as much right to wear what they wish, even if it annoys the hell out of me. I am not going to impose my personal biases and insist when I am out and about, that others follow my "Dictationalistic" opinions on what makes MY SL experience pleasant. Hell, I would start sounding like I was a two-year old...MINE, MINE, MINE rather than an adult tolerant of diversity. P.S. Interesting group name, have you thought up a charter?
  13. What program are you using to create your .png files? Do you have anti-alias checked? How large is your file you are uploading? Did you try to resize and upload at a smaller size? Do you have the texture stretched on the prim? Have you changed any setting on your Viewer? Changed Viewers? What have you done different currently than before/
  14. Or, try inspecting the prim house, should tell you the texture name and the creator. You can contact the creator and see about purchasing the necessary textures. This will give you a license for usage.
  15. Couple of links that might help. I like the 2nd one the best due to ease of understanding. http://www.robinwood.com/Catalog/Technical/PhotoshopTuts/PhotoTutPages/CS4-3D-1_Open.html
  16. Is sad...has her new toy hooked up but no time to mess with it due to RL...all that complexity of settings hurts my brains, so I will be printing your post, Chosen. I am sooo much better having that piece of papers in my hand, so I am sure I would get along with your mom must fine *winks* LOL...Yep, love my trackball...helps my carpal tunnel plus easier to navigate quickly between to monitors...and hoping, the tablet will assist in that endeavor as well.. Actually, I use a couple of different mice for different programs. Thanks for the great tips...will be useful...and will probably have more questions when I get time to start delving into the tablet! Have a great Day!
  17. While an updated version of the AV would be nice, I am satisfied with mine. IF the update they AV, I WANT to be able to use sliders, like we currently do. I DO NOT want to look like every other woman in SL. Also, I DO NOT like mesh clothing and do not own any at this point. It all looks the same, every other woman has the same type outfit, some of what is worn just looks horrible, and I don't wish to have to modify my shape to wear some designers thought on what clothing should be sized for. I understand the limitations of creating mesh and mesh clothing after having messed with blender and realize the steep learning curve many are going through to create their products. But, like RL I don't always buy the newest and shiniest item that comes out. I have thousands of costly items in inventory already I have purchased over the years. If it became obsolete, I would not replace it nor spend money to upgrade. I have spent too much in SL as it is. Also as a small time merchant and builder, I have a plethora of animations and other items geared to current AV usage. Other merchants and myself, would be holding the bag...if others are like me, we have spent a lot of money on items that would become useless to us.. While some merchants would be overjoyed to create new products to sell, the end user type builders would be out of business. Many of us do what we do for fun, and as it is, I never cover my costs, Why would I wish to sink more money into SL an already dying economy? It would be pointless. If they are going to do a new AV, then they best make sure that residents can chose to use the new or keep the old. I like my shape, took me years to get it the way I want...it is part of me and my personality....don't go messing with who I am!
  18. WOW...received my Intuos when I got home after work last night....huge...I need a bigger desk...maybe should have gotten the medium sized one. This thing is rather complicated with all the settings you can do...just WOW. This is going to take some getting use to! But, I do like that it can function as a touch pad, which is not dissimilar to my iPad. And, I see where...I think this is right...I can set the pen so I can do my clicks with it instead of a mouse or that weird rocker on the pen. I think tap clicking will be more natural than using that rocker once I get the sensitivity down. Played with it a bit but had to stop cause it was driving me bonkers after a long day at the office. It is rather annoying not to be able to put you hand down in the drawing/writing area without it causing some weirdness. And, somehow it has messed with my wireless trackball so going have to figure out that issue...just little annoyances for sure at this point. I also have to say that Mac's tablet touch interface options need a lot of improvement in my book. Will keep folks updated and probably have questions of you old pros...this is complicated from looking at the manual..LOL Be well and enjoy
  19. Seems everytime they change forums the past history is lost or archived somewhere that is possible to find. Thanks for posting the link.
  20. I am not a PS technical expert, but why are you merging the layers down? Have you tried just saving the texture as a .png/.tga and not merging the layers? Did you rasterize the the text layer?
  21. Yes, I would say they are being overly cautious. I thought the phone call verifying should of been enough. Not really sure why they honed in on the email address, it.not nonsense letters, characters, symbols etc. Oh well, I suppose it is over and done with at this point. Just struck me wrong since I have been involved with Customer Service for decades; it is not the working model we operate off to entice customers, especially new ones when economic times are tough. I must have pasted their strengent guidelines...LOL...they have shipped my order and it should be delivered this coming Monday. After all this hoo ha, I am even more anxious to try it out. Will keep you posted.
  22. Lots less expensive putting the burden of proof of the Users till some User's parents screams about their child wouldn't do this or that and start suing everyone under the sun. Of course, then again, we have all sorts of law enforcement in SL posing as those under legal age looking to catch "bad" adults to keep kids safe, those same kids who have just clicked the button to say they are adults. Thus, the burden of proof goes back on the adult and not the kid...jeezz so much confusion....even when the adult thought that sexy gorgeous woman acted like the age she gave him of 25 and rather than 17 her actual age. LL's policies regarding Age Verifications has taken on so many versions over the years and seems to change without notice it's hard to keep track of what is current and what use to be.
  23. LOL...you can tell I look at tag ilnes....LOL Just notice your signature URL
  24. Yep, they sent me an email asking how I came up with my email ID...not the one I use with SL or my AV name but one I have had for years and years. This was AFTER they called me back, after placing my order and it approved by my CC. They called and re-verified ALL my information. This whole experience has been so odd and disconcerting. When I questioned via return email why they wanted to know about mey email ID, I was told that it was a method of fraud detection and my ID was not a "catchy phrase" nor have part of my name, so I suppose it flagged their fraud detection software. My odd ID was set up for security reasons for just this type of thing.....sssseeesssshhhh! Granted, I understand the need for security, but to be honest, I felt like some criminal rather than a new customer placing an order. You would think I was adopting a child or applying for government security clearance rather than ordering a product. I do hope the product is worth all this hassle because I am not feeling really good about Wacom at this time and not sure I want to spend more money with them to support a company that paints customers as criminals until proven not guilty. I honestly have never had an experience such as this before. I hope this is not the norm or, becomes the norm with other companies.
