  1. You should also check out Builders Brewery In-World. Last I knew, Haven Ditko was teahcing some beginning Blender Classes through Builders Brewery. Haven is an excellent teacher and helped me tremendously learning Blender. Here is a link to BBs class calendar. http://www.buildersbrewery.com/calendar/
  2. Loves the fact there are other people out there that hate mesh clothes that do make you look fat or slathered in baked on clay...or have to adjust your perfectly comfortable AV to someone's weird idea what you should look like. Mesh accessories are great...mesh clothes are not. It may be a topic done to death, but for those designing clothes to sell, they really should pay attention to the other half of the SL clothing market. WE do have money to spend. Perhaps designered need to expand on the "5 standard sizes", which are anything but standard.
  3. Witha little work and use of the varoius clothing templates out there (LL, CMFF, R. Woods), you can make your own bikini template or alter the downloadable one. Shouldn't be very hard to resize it and make appropriate adjustments and layers if you are familiar with your graphics software.
  4. Cannot LL be contacted and have this command error overridden on the server side? I would think this would show up as some kind of weird error for them by now.
  5. Check your "Knee Angle" to see what the angle is set at. It should be set to 0. If not, try changing it...this is especially important if wearing rigged-mesh shoes.
  6. It's not marketing the items to the Gorean Market that is the issue. It is losing out on Medieval, Fantasy, themed RP markets if you use the words Gor or Gorean in your listing. So you either don't use the terms or, you must post separate items, which with MP is a no no, or, you lose out marketing items to all available markets. It is like you are punished if you sell to multiple markets
  7. Agrees with the other commenter. More information what you are needing and WHY would be rather helpful.
  8. i agree with Syro, try your hand at making your own. It is the best way to get the shape you want that is perfect for you. And, with you creating it, you never have to worry about it being modifable. This can be a good thing if you wear mesh and don't mind altering your shape to fit some designer's idea of what you should look like. LOL sorry...my dislike of mesh is coming through. I am like you I don't like those extreme pear shapes and think they are *shudders* some of the ugliest AVs I have seen to date. I prefer someting more natural and realistic so I tend to make all my own shapes including a nice short curvy one. It took me awhile to get things the way I like so do expect some tweaking if you do make your own.
  9. Not sure what your "freebie hud" vs your "male ao hud means. Are they two separate huds? If so, you might be getting a conflict between the two Huds and may need to shut one off/dettached it till needed. Or, combine the two AOs into one.
  10. Glad you found what you needed. If not, check out some of the layered clothing templates by Rip Rock on Marketplace, the dress pictured more or less looks like some of hers. I am glad to see some designer are still doing layered clothing. I personally hate mesh clothing for a number reasons so I tend to buy nicely made layered and prim based clothing.
  11. If the skirt is modifyable, you should be able to add a resize script....notice I said "should". Without trying it, I can't say it "will" accept a script. The script I use is not very expensive and is available on Marketplace https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/zED-SingleMultiprim-Resize-Script/2172518 The one issue you may have resizing any item is it may not have the ability to become smaller if the smallest prim is already at the smallest size it will go. A resize script will fail if the smallest prim is at it minimum limit. Like someone said earlier, it is difficult to create belts and waist attachments and has been for years, regardless if it is prim, sculpt or mesh based. It is not the technology per se or, the creators it is our AVs where the issues some in. What is perfect for some people will never ever work well for others. I been trying for years to find belts or belly chains to fit well and I refuse to change my shape to fit someone's clothes. My solution was to create specifically for my AV. It would be a creator's dream if we were all stuck with standard size tummies, waists and hips. Creating accessories to fit would be easy if that were the case.
  12. Is nice to see someone, who actually knows how to conduct research proprerly. Well done and hope you receive many honest replies form Residents.
  13. 99% of my sale are and have been sold through MP. I do have a shop in world but never sell a darn thing there.
  14. Okay, not sure if this trick will help you are not. Set-up a starter template with your Front, Back and sleeves each on a different layer....set them as base template layers. If you do this way you can line up sleeves, fronts, backs much easier and more quickly, although you will need to continue to adjust till perfect. Once you have a specific fit that is correct, copy the perfect layer...and cut/copy it from the upper template later to create a template for next time you need the same type of sleeve. Become one with your "nudge" function in your graphics editor..."nudge generally moves up 1 pixel more or less at a time (will depend on your software) in up/down/sidways movement. Take advantage of using the beta grid. Learn how to use local textures as well. If you don't know how to use the local texturing feature, there is a great class that teaches you how at Builders Brewery.
  15. Thanks! Yes, am familiar with Gaia's work and tutorials. With so many other things going on building wise and learning Blender, I really haven't had the time or interest to tackle the Avastar series. I generally buy the hard work of others where animations are concerned knowing how time consuming it is.. BUT, there are times I need something very specific so would like to try my hand at some point/ I know I should but eeeps, am just getting the hang sorta of mesh. Do you have a tutorial explaining the interface maybe? Or, a good workflow for DAZ? Maybe a tutorial that walks you thru make your first animation. I learn best by walking thru an excersize. LOL...good idea not to assume my experience level...just call me Ms Newb! I have made a couple static poses with QAV and In-World with UPoser, but that is about it. So, yes, .....NEW girl!
  16. I am a Mac user. SLat doesn't appear to support Mac and Qavimator, the last time I tried to use it, kept crashing when trying to save the .bvh file. DAZ just makes no sense to me so I quietly shut it off and delete it each time there is a "free" download special. I have been learning to make some mesh (or the fundementals of making it) in Blender but the learning curve has been high...OMG the interface is just crazy. I know that Avastar is needed for both animatoins and mesh clothing, but have been reluctant to purchase since I currently do not use mesh clothing hearing the learing curve for it is just as high. What is the interface like for animations? Simple? Any good baby step beginner tutorials (not searched at this point to many projects going on) you would recommend?
  17. I like Tuty's AOs Some nice interesting poses/animations and, I think most of the AOs are like 350L. She also offers singles animtions at the in-world store.
  18. Making clothing for SL is a lot of work in general. Making items that are historically accurate requires even more time, research, not to mention some items are just not possible to create with any sort of accuracy that look well. If you are finding items on MP and no store in-world, it is possible there was not enough support of their creations to pay for a store in world. Try iming the creator to set up an appointment to see the items in-world, Also, you might try a "mix and match" approach using pieces form different outfits. Many creators may not make a distinction between Victorian and Edwardian eras. The Edwardian area was a very short period of time (9-14 years depending on who you reference); whereas, the Victorian was 60+ years. Try searching for Victorian or Steampunk. You may have to browse though a lot of items, but you might find what you need. If all else fails, you will need to have custom work done for you, which I am sure will be costly.
  19. The question is, is the deformer even going to happen? And, if it is, when will it be available?
  20. Like others have said, it depends on the creator and the creator's philosophy. Generally, my clothing items are from 99L to 199L for a full outfit, which generally includes shoes and multiple pieces. I don't believe you should have to pay a small fortune for a set of virtual clothing. Actually, my items are probably very underpriced in comparison to other clothing creators. But, I am not here to make a fortune off people. Then again,I am also not going to devalue my hard work by giving it away for "free" either. I do this cause I like to create things. I am a small creator, who creators a variety of things besides clothing. I don't expect to sell much more than an item every once in awhile...would probably sell much more if I promoted...LOL...but I create what I like. I don't try to cash in on fashion trends. I am not out to mass produce clothing in multiple colors. I work at my own pace. I am not here to make a fortune off other residents...I create for the love of creating. I create what I like for myself...I don't have one particular style nor do I mass produce clothing in multiple colors. For the most part, I don't create slutwear, I create what feels right and looks nice as the moods strikes me. A better question for clothing designers might be, what motivates you to charge what you do. Or, what is your pricing strategy for selling your clothing items. It might give a better idea of what they think of their work and why they charge what they do.
  21. I have to agree with you...very boring indeed. And, most mesh I have seen looks the same...over and over and over again....tends to make women look fat too. In addition to looking like everyone else, this seems to be reinforced with little creativity have seen with mesh compared to layered clothing. Maybe when the crazy settles down there will be some better integration of layered, flexi, sculpt, mesh. I did some research after seeing this question. While I applaud the folks that set up the standards, they are not even close to covering the many sizes in SL. And, if I rememeber right, the sampling used was not very big to average for these standards. Maybe some creative mesh person will take these beginning standards and correct them to set up standards that are a truer reflections of AV sizes.
  22. I have to agree with you. Clothes should compliment me not make me change my AV to compliment the clothes. Nothing fits right out of the box. Either it is too large or too small. Guess that could be why I don't wear mesh clothing, although I do like some non-rigged mesh accessories I have found.
  23. The games you can gain the most Lindens with are the following...each one is a unique game in and unto itself. While the rules are similar and you can even juggle and/or swap our balances between them, some will charge you a penalty for playing. MasterCard Visa Discovery American Express Pay Pal Seriously, you want Linden's buy them. Why waste your SL time trying to make $2.00 a day, when there is so much more to do and explore.
