  1. After so many scammers/griefers over the years, I have made it a personal rule never to accept and/or rezz anything from anyone that I do not know or expect to receive.
  2. Moral of all these post...if you want Lindens...whip out your credit card or paypal account and buy them.
  3. Why would LL want to turn mainland into "free" to play when it is how they make their money? You say "make money where easle"....I don't see you offering other methods for them to "make money"? I think you are going to find that the "pay to play model" is not outdated nor, will it ever be. It is too lucritive. And, most of the "free" games are not free when all is said and done since there is generally a pricing structure for someone even if it is for the supporting advertiser. Generally, "free" games you speak of are boring, have limited content, limited freedom to be unique, and uber repetitive, etc. Accounts have always been "free" in SL if you wanted one. The only time a monthly/quarterly/yearly fee becomes relevant is if you wish to participate in the perk of being able to own land. No one asks or begs you to be a premium member or land owner. It's not like WOW or other games where you have to buy the initial game/upgrades and pay a monthy membership fees to play....that that is not "pay for play" I don't know what is. With SL ,You can just create an account, download, and play. You have no restrictions other than where you can go if you do not verify your age nor, can you own land....even then you can "rent" land. I think it a damn good deal for free. Why do you want Mainland to be "free"? What would you do with it if it were "free" to everyone? Why do you feel you or anyone is entiled to "free" land? Why should my monthly subscription fee (premium membership) allow you and your non-subscription "free" account access to mainland free play? Can't you afford a premium account and/or pay tier to get your own piece of land yourself to do what you envision? Besides, SL is not a game per se; thus, does not really fit the usual "gaming" model.. It is more a social networking type platform...yet, it is not really. . There are no set goals like traditional games. There is no ending. There are no challenges or barriers to overcome to proceed toward the end point (okay...LAG is a barrier..sorry). 99.9 of the in-world content is created and implemented by residents. What "games" do you know of that allows user content to be part of a "game"? Have you ever noticed how "ad free" Second Life is compared to those "free" games? I think SL is just fine the way it is regarding "free". If you want land to play on, cough up the premium account and tier payment like the rest of us do then you can do what you want. Personally, I don't feel like my subscription and tier payment should be used for "mainland free to play" because you feel you are entitled to "free". Besides, you already have free play now, go to a sandbox. Or, I am sure Farmville or some other "free" game is waiting for you.
  4. I would be careful in sharing any sort of chat log with anyone other than Linden Staff, and then only if part of an A/R. Same goes for your girlfriend. Even if the conversation was in local chat, I would be wary about sharing that information with anyone not involved in the original conversation unless you have permission by all parties to do so. If you share such conversations and one of the parties objects, you open yourelf up for a TOS violation and an Abuse Report filed against you. Even if you are able to share chat logs, most of us are aware chat logs can easily be altered to reflect what the chat log holder may wish it to say. As far as admin/staff members at varying venues, some may try to to watch for continued bad behavior and act accordingly. But, if it is a busy and popular venue, they may not have time to do so. I know as a sim owner, I will not just blatenly ban someone on the request of another party. If I personally observe bad behavior then yes, I might ban the offending party. However, most of us really don't want to be drawn into the middle of private drama between other parties, espeically if we don't know them. The easiest solution for a sim owner, admin, or staff member would be to ban both parties, and if necessary to file an A/R against both.
  5. Theresa offered some very good suggestions for an issue, which is currently unsolvable. Unless you are really set on long or medium length hair, you might look at some of the short styles with hair unless you want to wear hair that is short or shoulder length. Honestly, I think we, as wearers, are more self conscious of this issue than those around us. I think most of us just accept it and don't worry too much about it since it is an SL limitation.
  6. Interesting, so these are not LL's "standard sizing", but an attempt by some creators to create standard sizing for mesh?
  7. Guess i haven't experienced the "beggar bots" since I do not get out much these days. Any stranger in local, IMs, or, groups that asks for money, for whatever reason/cause, is told no. If they persist, they are muted and life moves on. If they are on my land and ask, they are muted and banned. You can A/R them if you wish, but I am not sure that anything will be done about it unless there is a TOS violation, which I don't believe covers begging. Begging has been going on since SL time began, it is just more sophisticated now. For years, I never banned nor muted, my SL has become much better the last couple of years using ban/mute.
  8. Check to see if the photo/texture is full perms....copy/modify/transfer.
  9. I have had nothing but stability with Firestorm lately...Phoesnix is a different issue entirely... but I am not running the most up to date version atm either. For me, when I start crashing alot on Firestorm or Phoenix is do a clean install and that usuually fixes my crashing issues. Sometimes, I do have to go back to a prior version as well. Did you do a clean install of Firestorm recently? If not, I suggest you go to the wiki for clean install instructions...uninstall...reinstall and see if it helps.
  10. Ooo..ooo...me...me....ME...pick me! You mean there are others out there just like me? LOL....please add me to the creator's list "...mostly these days I just stay on my own sim building; I don't get out much...". Thank you so very much! Happy Holidays!
  11. I thought you could de-list yourself from search, and it only be available to your groups or friends?
  12. I am still waiting for them to list the objects for sale as newest first in both the Merchant area and on actual Marketplace. Also waiting for the ability to upload multiple sale photos at the same time. Multiple deletes and activations would be nice. Listing anyting on MP is a whole lot of work
  13. There are several In-World products for sculpting...most have a listing on Marketplace. You can create sculpts in Blender (which is free) but do need a special add-on to create/export sculpts. Like everything else, there will be learning curves, some are pretty high so be prepared to invest time in learning. You can check out the SL wiki, which lists quite a few software resources http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Sculpted_Prims:_3d_Software_Guide, but I cannot vouch how up-to-date the list is. Some are free, some inexpensive and some costly. And, as the other posted recommended, do a google search. There are a lot and lots of resources available on the web that are useful. Good Luck and Happy Holidays.
  14. Is not all that curvy and mesh still doesn't fit. I have experimented some and simply don't like how mesh clothing looks or fits. I do like some mesh attachments/acessories, but clothing for the most part no. Not even sure IF the deformer comes into play that I will buy mesh. For now, you are probably stuck with the "standards"....not sure who came up with those but they are very small standards. Once more creators learn to create mesh clothing and begin to experiment with things outside what they have been taught, then I think you will see things stray from that standard and be more practical or create for niche markets.
  15. It wouldn't matter who uploaded a skin, if they are using someone's image, without consent , would be a violoations against the TOS. Personally, I would steer clear of anyone offering "celebrity" skins and such. There are many nice, quality skins out there. Try searching Market Place for ideas and visit the stores In-World.
  16. Thank you for your reply. I am looking for body UV map templates that are similar in nature to Linden Labs, Chip Midnight, or Robin Wood. I am not looking for clothing template kits, like you see on Market Place, which already have the clothing layer item(s) layers created for you. I am looking for guides that would help new creators in making their own items from scratch. For example, one other template I found features markings notated for different shirt lengths.
  17. Thanks you for the suggestion. I will see about getting in touch with Chip In-World or, viat SLU. Chip and Robin have done a huge public service for SL Residents with the contribution of their respective UV map templates for clothing making. I am not sure that newer Residents understand how huge their contribution has been.
  18. Yes, the laws applying to internet and even bioethics are pretty much non-existent. Be a good field for some hot shot upcoming lawyer to pursue.
  19. Try searching on Market Place for keywords such as Kawaii. And, if you don't already, mix n match items from different outfits to create your own style.
  20. Contact the person you bought them from. I am sure they can help you
  21. LOL....I am not new, but never tried physics before...thanks for the link. Think I will try it, although I really don't want horrible bouncy boobs or butt like many I have seen. They keep on keeping on even when not walking.
  22. I am not sure that most SL Residents are huge gamer fans...I am sure some are....I know I play WOW for example from time to time, but I prefer SL to WOW. SL is completely different. If you have already run a search of groups in search and are coming up empty, my guess is there aren't any. You could try creating your own such group.
  23. By asking the question and LL acknowledging the issue, I would think that would put LL at risk of knowingly allowing fraud if complaints were filed and LL did nothing. You are probably right the courts would have to deem lindens as currency, yet there might be a leg to stand on since you purchase and cash out for actually currency unlike other games where it stays play money. Of course, this is all theorizing since unless someone has the money to hire an attorney and the attorney would pursue it. And, if it went to court would still need a positive decision, which would probably end in bankrupcy and we would all lose our invested play money.
  24. Depends on what the item is....if shoes, maybe. Otherwise, I prefer to buy the color I want/like/need. I don't need the additional expense of something I wlll never use to change textures/colors...nor the script(s) lag.
  25. I am having an obscure day....okay more like an obscure and odd month. As if there weren't enough out there already, I have been doing some research for a blog article I am writing on SL clothing template guides. I think most clothing designers use Linden Labs, Chip Midnight, and/or Robin Wood's template bases or some compilation...is what I use. What I am looking for is other resources, either based on the aforementioned ones or created uniquely for a given purpose. NO....I am not asking for your "personal-super secret-only used by you clothing templates"...I am looking for"free" resources available publicly for others to access and use. To me, it seems like there should be a jillion out there, but I have only found a couple obsure templates. Either these guides are super secret and unique to each designer or there just aren't any. Also, does anyone know if there is/are/has been published accounts...blogs...websites...new artcles, etc.... explaining Chip Midnight or Robin Wood templates? LOL...Yes, I am again looking for obscure resources other than information found on Robin Wood's website, SL Clothing Wiki, the Mermaid Diaries. Thanks so much. Any assistance is greatly appeciated. Happy Holidays!
