  1. Same thing I wore to a Second Life wedding, probably. It was a dress very like the one Kate wore for her engagement announcement. I have a wrap dress in beige, brown and taupe too. A wedding is a wedding.
  2. Several. But Lara Hurley makes skins that have a very soft quality. It really depends what sort of look you want.
  3. Amacci has quite a few updo with or without hair long in back. Sirena does, too. I found bOOn and really like it. Here is a goofy picture. I took these for the topic about boots then never edited the pictures. So here, it also shows the front and back of the boon updo hair I like. It just seemed a little less wiggy.
  4. I will have a look. I'm making 3 or 4 shapes for a different fundraiser and I'm also trying to come up with ideas for the Project Fur fundraiser. (To help animals in Japan.) I love animals. Do you think original art would sell? I'm not sure I could whip up something good enough in time. I'm not used to making things for SL in such a time crunch. What does everyone think. I don't want to make too many shapes since the selling point is they are exclusive for these sales. I will not be able to sell them or offer them rather, again after that. I am thinking of making either some cartoons of animals or maybe some objects with paw prints on them, or something. What do you all like to see at these fundraisers?
  5. Make sure you really started from scratch. Just choose Inventory/Body Parts/New Shape. Move the sliders. When you are happy with the finished product, click "Save As" while in Edit Appearance mode. Now name it something. If it is a female shape and you plan to sell it, you might want to do a "System Skirt" version to put in with it. Wear a system skirt, and change the hips so they are not so huge. Make sure to "Save As" the same name but with "system skirt" added to the name. This way people don't wear this one with pants. It will be much too skinny in the lower part for regular use. It is also good to include the 'bald cap' with your shapes if you plan to sell them or give them to others. The bald cap is made by choosing Inventory/Body Parts/New Hair. Then do similar to the above. Go to Edit Appearance mode. Choose the hair button. Put a transparent texture instead of a hair texture. Put all the hair sliders to 0. In the eyebrow slider, make the eyebrows look nice with your shape. Now name it the same as your shape name except put "bald cap" in the name too. "Save As" "Jane shape bald cap" for example. Once your body parts are saved to your Inventory with their correct names, right click each one, choose Properties, and give them the properties you wish. I recommend yes copy, yes modify, no transfer. A checkmark will mean a yes permission. Hope that helps.
  6. Josh Susanto wrote: I'm using Lunapic online for free to create seamless textures. Ask me how if you care. How? The site doesn't require a membership or put any spyware on does it? I got burnt with that, recently (nothing to do with textures or SL.)
  7. I think the trend is toward more subtle shapes too. My av might have begun with a Wonder Woman shape (literally) that was mainly because I didn't know how to make one of my own back then. And it came free with a costume. What a deal. Most of the shapes on offer in my shop are more realistic (subtle figure flaws built in), and probably mostly B cups. With this av mesh I think a B to a C looks best. I think some of the shapes might have an A cup but I'm not sure what A really looks like. Totally flat? I do offer some busty shapes too but even those do not have stick insects with bust slider set to 100. I offer a few idealistic i.e. 'model' or 'pinup' shapes for people who want to be 'perfect' in SL, but most in the shop are not. I don't really want to encourage a trend toward stick figure shapes either. These shape trends hit and many times the trendy shape is a little overdone. I could name a few of those but I don't want to single any out. I think yours looks good Marianne but the thing with trends is some will go even further. I try to make the avs look individual enough that a clone army is not encouraged. Yours looks individual too.
  8. You might begin by checking your request post for grammatical and other mistakes. "Bothering? Making researches?" It seems unprofessional.
  9. Mags Indigo wrote: This is an Anti Spam Thread. I'm seeing a lot of shorter avatars in SL these days. Not so many that the giants are going to be outnumbered anytime soon - but there does seem to be more people choosing a more 'realistic' height. Is this a growing trend - or is it just that people feel more comfortable these days choosing their own style and size? I think the trend is to more realistic height (human) avatars. I notice fewer giants. The few I do see around, seem to be giant on purpose. Other features are often exaggerated too. Small head, gigantic hips, huge muscled legs. I'm banking on this trend in fact. So to speak. I make free shapes but I'm hoping they will be popular. The tallest woman in the shapes is 6 feet 4 inches. And I was suprised she was that tall. Most of them are from 5'4 to 5'11. My own av is 5'11. The males are within real life range too. I think the tallest male is 6'6' but most are from 5'11 to just past 6'. I don't think most SL men want to be shorter than that. The kid shapes were the height real kids might be too. Strangely I did not do that on purpose. I just went from eyeshot. But everybody pretty much turned out the height the person might RL be. I wish the tall female were a little shorter but I left her that way. I am trying to appeal to most tastes out there. Some people do want giants. She will probably be too short for them! When I tested the avs around SL (stood next to other people, walked, sat) they fit in. So other people are scaling down to real life measurements too.
  10. Um...I think I have that dress! A few weeks or so ago, I dressed as my Noob self, and took some pix. I found the clothes I made for myself as a noob still in my inventory. I found the supermodel shape someone had given me in 2006. I made my system hair as I remembered it. I had a modifyable skin but couldn't remember its name. So, I wore a Shy Caramelle in these pix, since I wore that one a lot back then, too. Behold my (former) Noob self. I could never figure out why people kept asking me to work in their strip clubs, back then. I was so proud of my noob clothes, though! Faux pas enough?
  11. Since I don't log in as often as I used to do, I don't change clothes often either. It's too much trouble to dig out a whole ensemble that actually goes together. I have just begun a project to type outfits onto a note card and put that into a folder. The folder will only have note cards, each with the complete list of names. Clothes, shoes, even hair and skin. I hope that will make changing quicker and easier. It will be a long time before I have a lot of outfits on note cards. I'm forced to change everything when I make a new shape. I mean, everything. So once that happens I try to find something new to wear. Sometimes I slap on any old outfit for time sake. Especially if I am just going to have to change it all again next log in. More places should sell outfits that go together from head to feet and should include a note card to put in a folder like I described, so you can know what to type in your Inventory space.
  12. I change a lot. Right now it's Moroccan Nights from Poetic Colors. They were free. Going to be lazy and re post this pic from another thread. But you can see the face. I have other favorite eyes too but I always find them again by accident. My inventory is kind of messy :smileyvery-happy:
  13. Well I make shapes for a hobby, when I have time it's a great way to relax, which is why I'm not like a machine churning them out. I like to keep this for a fun time hobby. Pardon all of the pix. I took so many angles and pix because I was originally going to offer this shape in my shop too. I decided not to since I still wear it. I don't want to be a clone. That's partly the point of making my own. The pic in the pink dress were taken at the Hangout. The pic in the red dress was taken in a random place. The rest of these pix were originally for the boards in the shop. I guess I'm a little embarrassed I took a pic of my own av's butt. Haha. But it's my favorite part of this av. I believe in having a nice rear end. This is the same shape with a "Jennifer" skin I forgot who made the skin. It was a one off from a charity thing. That pose makes the shoulders look bigger than they normally appear to be. This next one is with an Imabee skin. I love their skins on this shape. They have blond brows, and soft features. Since the face has angular features it softens the look. This is the Jennifer skin again, and the same shape again. The next pic is my avatar seated instead of in a photo studio. Lara Hurley skin. Last pic is the same shape in a free skin from Mother Goose's lucky boards.Which is your favorite look?
  14. I got this a little while ago. From Boon.
  15. I like the baby monkey one, too. And the surfing Dinosaur skeleton!
  16. How do I put a picture with my name here?
  17. Thanks for the tip about editing forum posts. I agree. My crime was probably visiting my (then) favorite club. And...dancing! The shame!! (crime = added to the RZ database.)
  18. Awesome tip, Suella! I was just thinking about making a better badeg background and your tutorial really comes handy. I will add a link to MetaLibrary ... :smileyhappy:
  19. You know what's ironic? In one of the rants the mall owner IMed to me, she was saying how she uses Red Zone innocently (I never even IMed her or another of the three who IMed, at all, before they IMed me btw) and that (she named a person I forgot his name) so and so uses it just to look up people he dislikes and get them banned anywhere he can. And yet in her next IM she was telling me that I'm a "little griefer" and she has read my (supposed) alts (she never named them, I didn't want to know or ask anyway.) Just to make me feel bad I'm sure. So I don't think she uses it so innocently after all. They all seem to think they use it innocently but even if they don't use it in an argument they are still adding the names so other people can. My question would be: Isn't the device itself breaking disclosure TOS since IT is disclosing information I don't want strangers to know? It's telling it to another avatar I never met before...So does it have to be an avatar telling another avatar, to break disclosure TOS or can it be a thing telling another avatar. Because that thing told something about me to some crazy lady and who knows who she told by now. I'm not afraid of her but it made me feel really bad. I just do not feel the same about SL until this is all gone.
  20. I've only been on the new forums a few minutes. I like the look of it. I like a lot how it's much better sorted. I like that it seems like off topic things or topics only a few people will even get, are moved elsewhere. It's better if it's all about Second Life. But I can't figure out how to use most of it yet. How do I get a picture by my avatar name?
  21. I dunno just help people when you can and try to be nice even if people aren't nice to you. Someone can help me figure out how to add an avatar pic to this new forum if you want to. :smileyvery-happy:
  22. ImageSynth2, available as a Photoshop plug in or a stand-alone. I think I downloaded both and could only get the plug in to work. It works pretty well but it could be more intuitive. Then again so could Photoshop. :womanhappy:
  23. By the way I'm told that the Vanity Universe skin fair is using a hidden RZ.
  24. Wait - I haven't been paying much attention, I haven't even been on SL much lately. This RZ issue has gotten me fairly bummed out. Did I just understand right, that RZ is off the grid?! Or just changed? I was trying to see which places have RZ or not so I could decide for myself where to shop. I was also sending that list to a few people but only after I IM'd the owner the RZ listed when it went off. Because of trying to make sure someone wasn't listed due to a false positive, it blew up in my face. I got IMs from three people from that mall, each one nastier than the previous person, with it ending with the owner calling me a griefer and saying nasty allegations about my supposed alts. Is that what Red Zone is for - so people can throw that in someone's face if they don't like them or something? I wasn't even online when they were sending all of those IMs, so I never asked who my supposed alts are. She also said I'm a griefer. Which I am definitely not a griefer. I was not even in her mall more than two seconds (because they have RZ) and I ain't never griefed anybody. That isn't the type of SL I want to be in.
