  1. Thanks for the new posts, everyone! Lelu: Wow! Those are two great, creatively shopped looks. And they both look totally different even tho they use the same shape (which is adorable btw.) 50L Friday was great this week, I love that bikini. Thanks for posting it all! Marianne: Roleplay looks are a great addition to the topic. They look really expensively done. I can hear the flap of bat wings as all the SL vampires race to those shops! I'll get off my duff after the holiday weekend & post some more too. I promise! Keep posting everyone. I can't get over the really creative combos!
  2. Filthy has a free group gift about every month, and that includes a male skin.
  3. I like Made Men pinstripe suits and wing tips. If you can find virtual Torino, look off the village square, for a shop called Moda Free. It has really nice men's suits and tuxes (and women's clothes too) all free. You will need to sit into the shop, the door's been busted for ages.
  4. Thanks! Male avatars for 'cheap and easy' are appreciated! There is a lot less stuff out there for men, free or not. It's a lot better than it used to be, though. I mean, like a few years ago, even when people really tried, there just wasn't much out there. He looks great, and is really unique! These avs are all different and all Cheap and Easy! Keep them coming everybody! Thanks for the great posts!!
  5. Wow! That's a great look, and REALLY cheap too! I mean it's basically all free. I want to impress upon new residents that you really can have a complete avatar for nothing or next to nothing. There's no reason to stay in the "newbie avatars" as nice as the latest crop are. Many places won't hire anyone with a "newbie avatar" so this is important for people who want a Second Life job too. Thanks!
  6. squashy Beeswing wrote: Excellent post, and so so true. There's no excuse for anyone to look less than fab given all the quality, free stuff we can get our hands on. Does the free stuff have to be current, or not? Idk if i have time to do this, but just checking. :-) Thanks! No, it doesn't have to be current, although it's a bonus if it is still available. I include non-current items on my style cards along with a landmark. My philosophy on this is: Most places that have one gift or hunt will have many more in future. Usually such merchants see this as a good way to bring in and get the loyalty of, future customers. And I think they are right! Pix and SLurls are very appreciated, though. This way people can see at a glance how great you can look and still be cheap and easy (LOL.) And then they can go get their own Thanks!
  7. Partly with YOU in mind, SillyName09, and because I know there are a lot more out there who are afraid to ask - There is now a topic on how to put together a totally individual, fashionable, non newbie-looking new AVATAR from head to toe... FOR CHEAP! Go have a look. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Fashion/I-m-Cheap-And-Easy/td-p/893145 The entire avatar cost less than 5 real dollars head to toe. If that.
  8. Now that I have your attention...hehe. Don't worry, it's a fashion thread! :) Let's put together a fabulous look from head to toe, spend as little as we can, and post the results here. While putting together a look, I thought, there are so many things here that cost so little. I wonder if people know how easy it is? CHEAP and EASY. That's the theme for this topic. How to be cheap, but not LOOK it. Here goes! And how to get it all: SHAPE - Free Shapes by Clarissa - Summer shape and eyebrow shaper - Free http://slurl.com/secondlife/Dallows/231/112/40 SHORTS - Fishy Strawberry Beat Collection - shorts outfit - past 50L Friday (?) 50L (I think. :) ) 2 free clothes gifts by doorway right now are adorable - and FREE http://slurl.com/secondlife/Sanchon/62/151/1709 HAIR - booN hair TOM245 blonde - 280L for a pack of 3 colors (Ok not so cheap but you gotta splurge sometimes!) http://slurl.com/secondlife/SAIKIN/80/147/701 EYES - =cm= catmonster - SAAGA eyes - rust (Brown) - 60L http://slurl.com/secondlife/Missing%20Beckett/214/186/24 SKIN - Mother Goose's - Abigail winter - female skin - lucky board - Free http://slurl.com/secondlife/Turpentine/234/154/22 (they also have a 1 Linden area with many skins & more) http://slurl.com/secondlife/Turpentine/219/208/21 TOP - Kyoot - Sunday girl shirt - Blossom - 50L at past 50L Friday (still out, misc colors) http://slurl.com/secondlife/Silent/56/84/1515 SHOES - In Her Shoes yellow sneakers - free (everything there is free, men's and women's shoes) http://slurl.com/secondlife/Vignette/125/118/57 YOUR TURN! This doesn't have to be perfect. IF things are past gifts or sales that is OK, just give the pic and SLurl so people get a taste of what each place has to offer. This is for fun and to show how easy it is to be CHEAP and still look good. :D
  9. Thank you Valerie! "Bob" looks like he is having a hard time choosing between you and Uma!
  10. Creators of all products should include a photo of the product with the sale. If you are worried about people using it to resell the whole thing, then make the photo no transfer. But make the photo copyable. Then if the product is also copyable the person can put a photo in any folder they put the product into. This goes for products, clothes, shoes, boots, hair, skin, shapes...It only cost the creator 10 Lindens ONE time to upload that photo - but you will save your possibly hundreds of customers that much money EACH - and a ton of time and trouble. Seriously. It's so easy. Creators, INCLUDE A PIC! :matte-motes-big-grin-wink:
  11. Has anyone put this one yet? This guy wants realism in both worlds. Told in the style of a silent movie. On twitter, look up SecondLie. On google, look up Second Life What Not To Wear. I hope this one falls within PG too. It is bleeped. A parody ad.
  12. Great thread! I love this one. Happy no one posted it yet. Now I get to ETA: Um oops. I hope this all falls under PG. And this is the GOOD version. Lol :matte-motes-confused:
  13. It sounds like what is happening is the flickering effect. Not really sparkle or glitter in a good way. I'll make note of this method though, Void. Thanks.
  14. Any tips for how to paint them? Do you use opacity? What setting? How do you get it in the right place? How do you get it to look neatly applied and not like a smear? Do you photosource, paint only, or some of each? All tips are welcome!
  15. Stop by my shape shop; I think the Nicola shape would suit your wishes. And best of all, it is absolutely free. Of course, every female shape includes a 'system skirt shape.' Every shape in the shop has a style card and eyebrow shaper, too, all free. Just look in my Profile Picks. :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2:
  16. I'd like to learn how to do this on purpose. Glitter effects would be great for a top layer of a gown skirt for instance. Like sparkly sequins.
  17. I bookmarked the Robin Wood tutorials for painting onto the avatar in Photoshop CS4 Ext and beyond. Are there any others like this out there? If I can paint directly onto 3D surfaces, sculpts, avatars I might have a chance to make some decent stuff. I think and learn visually so movies are a plus. THANKS.
  18. That first pair could be good for someone with a leg injury, skin condition or prosthesis. Well, there must be a reason it was created.
  19. Check Fab Free's blog since they list free (all kinds of) skins often. It changes often so don't go past the first few pages, or it might not be available any more. And check it a couple times per week. http://fabfree.wordpress.com
  20. MM boards at Ripped used to have free, flat fur boots. Have to click before midnight. They might have lucky boards now, too. Also check the Free Gorean Market since they wear flat boots for their roleplay, there would surely be some available in the freebie market they go to. If it can be Doc Martens, Deco often has a pair like it at the 50L Fridays. Wrong! used to have a good pair like Docs. But I am not sure what you want. Wrestlers wear all kinds of stuff.
  21. The Girl Next Door avatar's pink polka dot dress and glitch pants do come off. The black bra and under panty underneath that are part of the skin she wears. So those will not come off. You will need to find a skin and clothes in a PG region which do not have the giant underwear.

What is important when your out and about on shopping excursions, do color, shop size, and location REALLy make a difference? If it takes too long to rez, I usually go. If it's too huge and the owner has disabled flying, I usually go. If it's too hard to navigate up and down its floors, I sometimes go. I'm not really a fashionista anyway - finding all the pieces to an outfit is too time consuming and expensive. But I might represent the average shopper.
  23. Valerie, Just for you, I went and took some vanity "red carpet" pictures. I don't have your mad mad photoshop skills, so instead of red carpet these are just...red. :matte-motes-sunglasses-1: Hair: Amacci, Skin: Al Vulo current group gift, Shape: newest by me (it's called Takiri), gown: Paris Metro
  24. SF Design has a copy of the uniform Prince William got married in. Go to their men's department to see the picture and get the landmark. I think it is in a new store called High Society.
  25. WhiteBoi360 wrote: Thnx for the feedback. But I did state that they could sell it in their store but I get a small %...which would be negotiable Like I said good luck making it happen and I sincerely mean that.
