  1. It's hard to find places because it takes a lot of space to accomodate rolling waves and surf for a few seconds or more. I look up surf shops and go there a while when I am in the mood to surf in SL. There is almost never anyone there, so it's the same as a private beach.
  2. Oh! Not long ago I sold my 600-something meter plot that fronted Linden park and route 2. It was a very nice setting but I never used it. I think you will enjoy the area. Route 2 is a very nice Linden road which takes you through different scenery. The road changes too. Enjoy.
  3. No, I don't tell people. A person's avatar is highly personal to them, and it would only hurt their feelings. If someone made a point of asking for my opinion I would try to find out what sort of avatar they want in the end, and offer them some landmarks of places to look for the pieces.

  5. I need some skins that are not the typical Caucasian skins - and not just with Caucasian features made darker. Does anyone know where to find some that are good for making an avatar which looks Middle Eastern, Persian, India(n) (of either type), African, etc.? I want to offer a diverse array of shapes but the hard part is finding skins to go with them. Not only do I put a skin on before I begin a new shape, but the face shading, eyebrow length and shape, etc. do dictate or at least limit the types of faces I can make. Everybody comes out in some version of Caucasian so far. I did find a few "African American" skins which were cheap or free, but I've used those and I want to make more. I especially cannot find the above types (middle to dark skin tones but with 'ethnic' faces.) I did buy some Asian skins but it was to benefit Japan so I paid full price - I otherwise do not wish to do that. I'd like to find sale skins or free skins. This is explained below. There is no subtle way to say any of this so I hope I have not offended. None is meant. ETA: I prefer real looking eyebrows vs. the painted ones. The better quality the skin, the better the shape comes out. Also if there are any skin makers out there who plan to keep skins on offer indefinitely that people can come get cheap or free - please IM me here or in world. I want to promote you in the style cards. My aim is to get people on their feet in SL on a budget. I offer the free shapes part, and I try to include landmarks to bargain things when I style the shapes.
  6. Solbrio I just sent you an old freebie from the Forum Cartel Hangout. Or you can type dressing room or changing room into search and not have to use a sandbox.
  7. There is a 'looking for' section in the forum I think. You might have more luck there.
  8. Saving it under "Outfits" - how would you do that? (ETA you said the result but not the step by step how to) (Also word of caution on replace current outfit, depending what's in the folder it can take things off you didn't intend for it to. Maybe add to current outfit is better??) I just know that if I took everything out of their original folders and put it into a new one I'd lose something. The note card isn't any trouble at all since I always find things by typing anyway. Just add things to the note card once you have them on already. Then the names are all in bold print in Inventory. Whatever is easier for the person is what counts though.

  10. Gorgeousness. Where did you all find those confections?
  11. This is a really short machinima but it shows the after effects of the Japan earthquake. Since it's a dedicated cinema it will probably have more things in the future. (I'm guessing.) It's brief but it shows how machinima can be used for charity. http://slurl.com/secondlife/kumashon%20piyo%20land/155/115/24
  12. You both look gorgeous! Here's something for the guys. Bedlam has an Easter hunt gift - just look for the Easter Egg - but this isn't what's in the pic. (I forgot to look at the Egg gift.) Bedlam also is having an in store hunt. Most of those aren't free but they are discounted. I still think 20 Linden $ for this hilarious Easter Bunny nose and ears with fishing tackles on them, is a steal. http://slurl.com/secondlife/Neko/213/207/36 Look for a little silver microphone high up on the wall. I hope they don't mind my telling where it is but this is a sale, not a hunt as such. 20 Linden$ and you don't even have to change clothes, guys. Can't beat that. :smileyvery-happy: Fab Free has blogged some other Easter things for guys. Just page through their current blog. http://fabfree.wordpress.com I don't want to repost what they already blogged - plus they have pix and a link. (There's a men's outfit and a men's vest.)
  13. And here's another dress from the BOSL free gifts for spring, that wouldn't go in the last post. (See above for SLurl) Next, Tres Beau has a 3 part outfit that must be hunted for in three of its locations. Find this symbol: in each of these stores. I did not stand in front of the symbol when I took these, so you can still enjoy the hunt. BOSL Daisy Earrings 50L - Tres Beau shop # 1 http://slurl.com/secondlife/The%20Renaissance%20Galleria/106/222/28 BOSL Daisy Dress 50L - Tres Beau Shop # 2 http://slurl.com/secondlife/Casablanca%20Boulevard/221/164/35 BOSL Daisy Purse 50L - Tres Beau Shop # 3 http://slurl.com/secondlife/Couture%20Boulevard/65/233/26 Here is the completed outfit. The dress has a 'tea length' hem (on me, at least.) And then, I found some more specifically themed Easter outfits. I will include those too. The above was for those who might want to mix and match some looks for their own individual ensemble. But nothing wrong with making one or two stops and going the costume route. I found some cute ones in different styles. How about a "Gothic Bunny" outfit? 350 Linden $ here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cutie%20Land/24/222/26 And something more traditional. The costume shop "A Touch of Ireland" has a bunny outfit (250L) and shoes (50L) - Or a floral dress and hat ensemble (150L) which is suitable for any Easter Parade. I snagged those bunny heels for myself. I found them here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cork/24/191/23 In her Easter bonnet...with all the...purple...on it?? Find the Easter dress and hat here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Cork/32/172/23 So - what did YOU find for Easter or spring celebrations? Share it here! Thanks!!
  14. Was about to post this in the "what will you wear on Easter" topic. But then I thought, wait, that's what I'd be wearing. The pix I took were to show others what they could find to wear in Second Life for this weekend. Sorry in advance for the hasty nature of some pix. I didn't have much time yesterday. I mainly wanted to show how you could outfit yourself for Easter, on a budget. Even if you don't celebrate Easter, or want something a little less...pastel? Here goes! [ Malice ] has this. "Egg Hunter" dress. 50 Linden $, no transfer. Don't miss the 1 Linden$ gift on the floor! When you open it, you get these springtime lovelies: (Okay so it's probably for St Patrick's Day. But there is clover all spring!) Get all three outfits, here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/The%20Renaissance%20Galleria/181/223/27 Next? How about something a little more daring? A little different way to wear those Easter or spring pastels. It's called a top, but it looks like a Mini Dress to me. It's 100 Linden$ no transfer, and it's here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/The%20Renaissance%20Galleria/127/250/27 Then I found a whole treasure trove of gifts to celebrate "Best of Second Life." Just look for the boxes by the fountain. There is also hair for men and women, a pair of shoes with the sculpty feet and more. But this topic let's just look at spring wear. Get all of the following here: http://slurl.com/secondlife/Couture%20Boulevard/184/179/25 at the fountain. Free!
  15. I have a few guy shapes in my shop in my Profile Picks, you are welcome to come get them. 0 Linden. I am going to add more male and female shapes soon as well as a few more character shapes as soon as I find enough time. I've been stockpiling free or cheap skins to work with. Try the lucky boards at Mother Goose. You might not be able to find your perfect avatar for free but you can definitely end up with something very nice.
  16. Don't leave. There is a big learning curve but it is worth it. IM me any time and I will help you. NCI and Forum Cartel Group and FabFree are also some groups that are chatty and helpful to anybody who asks. Look up the groups in your Group tab in search. Some things float when badly scripted. It isn't SL's fault
  17. Ooh! this thread has me wanting to dive into some H20 - in real life too!
  18. Here are some tips! TIP ONE If the items are copyable, then leave them where they are but also: Open a new Inventory window. (First line in the Inventory toolbar I think) Create a new folder in that 2nd window. (New/Folder in the Inventory toolbar) Rename that new folder. (Right click the folder and choose rename. Then type what you want. "Casual Outfit" or whatever.) Now right click each thing you want to put into a new outfit folder, and choose COPY. Then right click your new "Casual Outfit" or whatever it's named, folder, and choose PASTE. Now you have your original separates in their own folders. But you also have a folder in which they are combined into a new outfit. I do NOT recommend just dragging the original pieces into a folder: you will never be able to find them to wear with other things. You will not be able to go back to where you got it for more stuff later either because it's not with its landmark. TIP TWO If you can afford it, another great tip might be to take a photo of each favorite outfit. You could keep that on your hard drive in a folder too and that would cost nothing. It only costs if you create the photo in game or if you upload one. So save it to hard drive to save money. What I've started to do with some outfits is keep a note card going. This would be the cheapest and easiest way of all. In Inventory choose New/Notecard. Name the note card something like "My Favorite Outfits." Now type WORN and look at each item in Bold type. That is what you are wearing. (Ignore all the false results.) Now, click inside the "Favorite Outfits" note card, and type each thing you have on by name into the note card. Later when you want to wear that again, look in the note card for outfits. Type each piece's name in Inventory at the top and that will pull up anything by that name. Then put on your outfit piece by piece using your note card names. The easiest way is to figure out an outfit, wear it, and take down the name of each piece into your note card. But if you find the names in Inventory and know what they are, you can skip wearing it for now. Just get the names right in the notecard. Example. Your favorite top is called "Strawberry Tank Top" - type that in the note card, along with the store name if it's on the title of the top. In other words the whole name on the top, or at least part of it as is. Unless it's a folder with a whole bunch of stuff already in it (like a fat pack), then just take down the folder name it came in. Example. Your favorite skirt is called "Pink Daisy Mini" - type that on the note card too. Again if it's a solo item the folder name will work. You don't have to put literally each piece of the skirt by name in the notecard. It's just so you find it later. You choose shoes or boots to go with it and type that on the note card too. Now you have your outfit saved, although not in a folder. For each section in the note card, call the outfit something even if it's Outfit 1 or A or something. If you want, you can add a photo of the outfit to your note card. (Just drag the photo in there.) As you get more outfits planned, add those to that "My Favorite Outfits" note card, too. This is time consuming but not if you keep track of outfits you already have on anyway. And it's totally FREE. (Unless you add pix.) It depends how much time, money and effort you want to put into it but there are different ways to keep track of what makes a good outfit. As your inventory grows, this will come in handy. I hate taking too long to get dressed because I can't find shoes that match! And all along they were in there but are no Modify so can't be renamed with the color or description (unless you put them in their own new folder and rename that.) Hope that helped.
  19. Try on a different shape and see if that fixes it. If it does, then it's your shape. First time I've heard of this type of a problem. So I'm not sure. Do the same thing with different skins. Then try on both a new shape and a new skin. It could be something in your viewer too. Can you join a group for your viewer type and ask what to do?
  20. Great news. Does anyone have a SLurl?
  21. I'm sorry someone called you names. If things get that heated people should step back a while. I don't want to lose content. I think fewer things should be scripted, but what about places like amusement parks that have to have lots of scripted things? Isn't there a better way? Like buying better servers? I'd rather keep putting up with lag than see Second Life become a bunch of empty fields or just things to look at. I like to DO things in Second Life. Things like hair don't need to be scripted, though. (It's to defeat copybotting but I don't think it does. I prefer modify hair so you can tweak just that one tendril.) I don't know why your boots had a glow script when objects can glow by texture. So some scripts should be rethought by their product creators.
  22. It isn't small but it's peaceful. I still think SL Botanical Gardens is a top spot after all the years it's existed. People do sometimes start a conversation there. Can't go wrong trying it.
  23. Should be an option to send wish list to a friend, or send one thing from wish list to a friend, or to make your wish list searchable. If those things aren't on there yet. Wish list definitely adds to sales. Sometimes you forget what you looked at.
