  1. On youtube are many. BOM on youtube If you want, take also a look at the simple steps to start with BoM. Basic requirements: Your viewer must be compatible with BOM. The latest Firestorm and LL Viewer for example are. There are more. Mesh body/head must be compatible with BOM. Your heads/bodys BOM must be active. Many heads/bodies come with a Bom button in their HUDs. Just click it. Other heads/bodies require a relay. If BoM doesn't work for you, check at first, if BOM is active at all. What is BoM doing? It places (bakes) system layers on your meshbody and head. See screenshot what system layers are. How to use BoM. I suggest you start with a classic skin. It has an icon that looks like a jumping little man. Right click on it and choose "wear" in the menu. Don't worry, if your avatar turns red. It is a sign, that BOM is active. Now remove the body alpha and the head alpha as well. Your Avatar should look normal now and wear the layer skin. Remember, that you cannot remove a skin. You can only replace it with another one. With all the other system layers - for example tattoos - it works the same. You want to remove a system layer (except skin)? Right click and choose "take off". If you notice your avatar looks ugly after starting BOM, that's not a BOM isssue. It only means that your mesh body or head don't fit with the skin that you choose and that you have to edit the shape. Again it is not BOM that makes avatar looking ugly. BOM ist just a neutral tool that moves system layer items from your inventory to the surface of your mesh body/head. Ok, these are the steps to get BOM working. The basics. If I forget one, everyone is welcome to correct me. But please consider, I kept this very simple on purpose.
  2. Kalhene body again. With LAQ Lulu head. Both BOM. Random classic skin and custom shape. The pictures aren't edited. I used EEP light settings.
  3. With this thread I want to encourage residents which either gave up to learn BoM or consider to start to learn BoM and wonder, if it is worth while. Feel free to add you own pictures, edited or not.The only requirement: the displayed avatar must be built with a mesh body/head/, classic skin + BOM. No skin appliers please. Please add a short info, what mesh body/mesh head brand you used. I would be glad, if some find it a good idea. Ok. I start with a Kalhene Anya meshbody. The head is Kalhene also and comes with the body. The skin is a random skin I purchased on the market. Random means, it's not meant for a specific brand. Shape is my own creation. The pictures are not edited. I use custom EEP light settings.
  4. The pose looks somehow mechanic to me. That's why got the idea.
  5. I use an Adam mesh body with BoM for my personal avatar. 2950 Li. BoM relay 10 Li. (I have lots of avatars which serve as models). The head is a Logo Chase head. A free version which is unfortunately not available anymore. BoM compatible as well. Adam Body Adam BoM relay The Adam Body works with Omega also. But just to mention it, one cannot use Omega and BoM at the same time. Anyway, there are many clothes available for this body. My advice: don't hesitate to learn BoM. Actually it's simple. You just need to learn some basics. It only seems to be complicate and confusing because some people tend to answer starter questions rather with technical details which might be interesting for experienced users than to tell them the 3, 4 things which starters really need to know to get BoM working.
  6. Spring, yay. lol Heating broke here today in rl and is off with temperatures outside of 3 C.
  7. Thank's that you was so fair to use neutral looking icons. lol
  8. To ask in the Your Avatar forum or the Make Friends forum, if other residents like your avatars look that's on topic and legit too. If some residents find that pointless, well, it's their right. One has no obligation to share their opinion though.
  9. Inworld we share IDs and similar informations with other residents. Here in forum we share the same informations with the entire internet. Perhaps Linden sees it a security issue.
  10. Why not? That fits in the Avatar or in the Make friends forum. I mean, aren't we asking the same, when we post a picture in the "how looks your avatar" threads?
  11. That's what likes are in some forum threads. Well, not fair, yes. But one can play the game and review a picture in an additional reply. Though not many are using the option. Especially critique of pictures is very rare. Actually one could post a black screen and still would receive some like for it.
  12. I understand. Then of course it doesn't matter, what body you are using.
  13. I don't understand? Why do you think you have to go naked, when you use the body. As for the hands I'm sure they are built to fit with the body. I doubt that they look good, if you use them separately. But give it a try.
  14. Still legacy classic. But Genus head strong face and different light settings. The top is a classic layer. Well, all in all if I wouldn't have this body already, I wouldn't wait to get it. Complexity about 57,000. But the hair has 25,000 alone. The body has 7,398 - without hands and feet. I notice I should enlarge the feet a little bit. Ok, next time. lol
  15. Edit, that is the HUD. There are two. I don't know what the difference is.
  16. Looks like the styles hud gets turned off automatically, when using Bom?
  17. Strange, Chic. No technical issues here except that the styles HUD is loading slow. Well, the body is not bad considered that it is free. I used it with BoM and a WoW skin. See picture. The clothes are Maitreya (I usesd the alpha cuts). Head is a LAQ Lulu. In some lightsettings the neckline is a little bit visible. But I think that's normal.
  18. Thanks a lot. Skells tutorial was a big help. I also didn't wait long enough until the style tab of the hud was loaded. Some lag here.
  19. Thanks for the hint. I'm not really planing to use it. I was just curious how it looks. You know I'm experimenting much with bodies and heads. Btw, I can't find a BoM button in the HUD. Perhaps I'm blind to see.
  20. Well, I followed the SUrl and choosed a gender in the front of the free body sign. Though I arrived at a sign that offers the body for 2,500 L. Do I something wrong? Wait, I just discovered the link "free edition". Got it.
  21. Perfect in my opinion. Well, like all of yours. I know you have a flickr page. You never considered to present your work on an own artistic website under your name?
