  1. Number of Reasons for a problem like this. 1. Try uploading a smaller picture, and check the file size, as well as how big the picture actually is 1024x1024 is the max SL accepts I think, and the limits were put in due to griefing. 2. It could be the viewer I know some viewers like very old viewers that are not even supported anymore or even maybe a new viewer with a bug can prevent uploading of textures, You can always try another viewer. Also the server could possibly reject certain file types for any number of reasons even if a viewer tries to actually upload the data for example trying to upload a 50MB texture when it only supports 8mb, or a file type that is not supported it could reject it or you might get lucky, or it might glitch and upload anyways. 3. Try renaming the picture on your computer before uploading it, not usually an issue but just try it. 4. Try clearing cache and reuploading, also check your internet connection usually not an issue but still. 5. Try moving to a different simulator away from a possible lagging area. 6. SL could be having asset server issues. 7. Try opening the file and saving it as a jpeg again or another supported file type by the viewer and upload it. 8. If this doesn't work contact LL Tech Support I guess, these are just the common issues I have seen for myself.
  2. Well First, I would check and make sure the creator is a legit shop owner in Second Life, for example they are a known developer because sometimes Griefers like to give out stolen content claiming to be shop owners, even using Display names to fool people. Second, I would contact them in Second Life by NoteCard, or IM and let them know you never purchased the product but got an update from them, as this could concern you for a couple of reasons, as 1. A person could have griefed in your name, or done something in your name, or 3. Your account could have been compromised while that is rare I would always look into everything just to be safe. Third, Maybe you bought a Freebie somewhere, or a content pack with her as creations sometimes we make mistakes or forget about purchases we make in SL it happens I mean I have an inventory filled full of hundreds/thousands of items lots of purchaes, mods I have made to modifyable items etc so I forget often except for those developers that are very well known. So in other words it could be a script in your item offering you a free update such as an update checker. Four, When you stop by some stores in SL even if you don't subscribe sometimes you will find yourself getting advertisements from their automated Kiosks, these work by logging your avatar name/avatar key then sending out an item each month or whenever they choose to your avatar, and if you find it a problem the first thing I would do is contact them and see about removing your name, or going to their store and removing yourself from their Kiosk usually there is a way, another option of course is to mute, and if that doesn't work abuse report but really I don't find these to be common issues or have any problem with getting updates from some content developers because hey I like to know about new products I may like like recently I was randomly contacted by a random content creator I never knew about some stuff, but hadn't been to a simualtor since 09 a person I dont like much really for things they have done but anyways he was advertising so I paid for some of his products because they were kinda nice. 1. When an object sends you an item it tells you where the object is located in world on your local chat, it will also tell you if it sends you a green message as well so you can simply go there and know what store sent it to you usually. Five, Most issues are resolved simply by talking to them there really isn't any need to AR unless it is some serious griefing going on, and you can simply erase the notecard if you like but if it is an automated kiosk from a store you visited then you might have to unsubscribe from it by going there and clicking it or something even if you didn't subscribe. Think of it as going to your local grocery store and hearing them advertise their products there I consider it the same really and not that big of a deal unless it gets really spammy which none of the places I have been to spam me with stuff usually a monthly thing they send out or every couple of weeks which isn't bad.
  3. http://vimeo.com/31100268 <--- I dont support SOPA http://americancensorship.org/ Doesn't Mean I support Piracy, or harm to developers where it be the gaming industry, music artists, or Movie Producers, but I support the Free Flow OF Information, and I believe to restrict such would start a revolution. These game Artists, Music Designers, and Movie Producers, or the Entertainment Industry usually makes more than any content developer does in SL anyways, I have seen hourly pay even an intern working for Arena Net gaming industry the ones who makes guild wars gets $14 an hour while working that is like above minimum wage, so why complain they make millions not that I am saying piracy is right, but let people Enjoy their Pursuit of happiness don't complain about every single copyright infringement on music playing in the background of a YouTube for example, or someone who modify's their PS3, or a game and such it is becoming a witch hunt. And in no way am I saying that this should give people the right to Copy or steal content in SL, I mean while Real World business makes millions of dollars, most developers on our grid are not big companies who are greedy, or get paid hourly, and besides their work is often not expensive at all compared to going to the store and spending $49 for a game, or $100 for a collectors edition, even going to a movie costs more than buying something in SL. SOPA, and DRM are a big Joke, DRM doesn't protect anyone, HackShield, Game Guard, Punk Buster, Steam, they are all laughs of protecting games from cheaters, or using DRM, and encryption to protect the game industry it simply wont work there will always be someone who makes a crack for anything and everything where it be a laid of worker themselves who shares the knowledge and such on how to make a cheat for a game, or bypass DRM. DRM is also a hastle for legit users on music and such it gets annoying the reason I will never use DRM, or buy anything with DRM, I will always boycott anything with a DRM that gives me trouble, and get a DRM free version somewhere, or use my own Recording program and convert it into a DRM free version for example. DRM becomes a problem when you can't use a software or game program across multiple PC's, or limited licenses to play music because you had to wipe your Hard Disk quite a few times and didn't back up licenses.
  4. Oh yes I know what you are talking about with resellers reselling other peoples work. I have seen people reselling Free items for L$ where it be 5, or 10 L$ at freebie markets of other peoples work which is free to give away as a 100% Free item, and hate people profiting like that. Turbo Squid, People who are illegally importing models of other peoples work from other games, and make a profit off such without the consent of the actual developer. Dishonest people, might try to resell your work, and Linden Lab might act on a DMCA claim and take down the resell if it is being sold in world, or on the market place. However do keep in mind that if the full perm textures, or sculpt/mesh are full perms people can and might be dishonest and give it away to other people in SL, and I really do not agree with that either. I mean giving it to one friend to use in a build which you are working on, and destroying the texture after they have finished building a build for you, or on your land and such I can be fine with, but knowingly trying to profit or ruin a developer is wrong. As for DMCA on such, as you are the uploader of the Texture UUID/Sculpt, or Mesh LL really can't blacklist it, and as far as legal actions go it is really hard to take any type of legal action when you gave it away full permissions, and there is no actual signed contract between both parties those little TOS/NoteCard in a box do not mean anything in a court/law and can't even be proven that the person actually read them and they would totally more than likely throw the case out of an actual court unless you had the money to really fight it legally and prove actual damages. In the end it is really a matter of just respecting creations others make where it be the IP rights of any developer in SL, or another game, movie etc. I admit I would like to have Avatars from other RPG Games in SL like World OF Warcraft, or other copyrighted content in mesh form, true who wouldn't, however people should not attempt to make a profit off of their original IP rights such as snatching mesh and just uploading it originally, if they are going to do that they should get permission from the creator/company of that content to use it as a fan basee without any profit from it unless they are going to create some mesh or content themself and make something like it but 100% their own work just using an idea but their own version of such then they have rights to it. As for Pirates, or Thieves they will always try to steal content, can't really stop the free flow of information even when one DMCA claim is acted on, another priated copy is already going around.
  5. Beyond the lame average Second Life RP Drama, this is something like I would love to see in Second Life one day, I doubt it will ever happen, but just one of the mini things that would make SL a lot better for Sim Designers and bring Development to creators a lot easier than it is today with uploading mesh, editing objects and such. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=boqHWm3fQmc&feature=player_embedded I would really love to have a Working sim wide weather system, or Simulator builder that I could edit terrain, Set water where I want it, instead of a Highlight field I would love to have 3D enviorments, possibly a system like this in Second Life where I could create Terrain similar to the examples used in this video. I know this is a game editor using designed for making games, but I think that something like this or similar in certain aspects would work wonders for sim owners in Second Life, let alone designing an actual RPG in Second Life, animating NPC's, and scripts. When we talk about NPC's we think OMG Server lag, but I think if done correctly and if simulators could be made or have a setting to operate more like a RPG simulator or a game engine that a actual server could be made to process scripting for when a person says a text command for example, the Mesh avatars you know like that dummy in SL with the name of Philip Linden which is made as a joker or whatever is made for example could walk around to set waypoints in Second Life with advanced physics and such where a person could right click choose an option such as Buy/Sell and such, and could generate scripted RP items and such for use in RolePlayling similar to selling goods in an actual RPG game, I know something this advanced more than likely will never come to a virtual world like this, and the best I have seen is the DCS2 system, or BNWCS really, but even that doesn't compare as all that is just basic scripting yes it takes time and work I understand that, but I am talking about the development on a professional scale like game designers and such as in this video. Either way I would love to see Enviormental effects come into the game with actual shadows, preset editors and such for editing a region terrain, instead of just a simple highlight field, a way to adjust water in the game, place plants that can be set to produce shadows and such. Think about A thunderstorm in Second Life without the use of prims, or objects, but generated by the server, and just imagine for a second not only could this be turned on simulator wide, but each 16384, or 1/4 simulator could have its own individual weather paterns for example, as well as terrain texters, and terrain would no longer look all ugly if raised all the way up to the sky wouldn't this be awesome? But what about lag? Well that is something else to think about Clientside improvements like allowing a lot higher of a cache for example a user could have it set to take up to 20GB if they wanted instead of 1GB cache, and fixing the client to support Multi CPU/GPU rendering would be great as well. Another Thing I would really like to see, but more than likely impossible. Speaking of designing, I would also like to see improvements to things like Clothing Editing in world, for example your creations you could actually edit them in world such as a shirt, and upload the data back to the server with the edit that would be nice if that was possible. To me creating in Second Life sometimes seems almost impossible to do and I don't mean like basic things like making something out of basic prims, but actually using third party programs such as PhotoShop just to make a tatoo, make some clothing, or a Sculpty/Mesh maker to make mesh or sculpties. Even if there was only a Basic Editor such as an editor that could only generate in game content like Clothing, or could not be applied, or used on uploaded content but would have to be created by yourself using an in game, or simulation editor such as If i wanted to draw a symbol of a Star on my avatar, or a tatoo it would be awesome to be able to easily create such clothing layers in a SL. What about an in game sculpting Editor for making new sculpts, and editing them, as well as a Legal Export option to export your own sculpt maps and such created by yourself after creating such for editing outside SL, and better yet why Can't a person create mesh, or edit mesh from within Second Life itself. Even if some of this were possible who would be for some of this stuff for future improvements in Second Life, I know that I think of SL as a game, but that is because most of what I do involves hanging with friends, chatting with those I know, or playing games/RP in Second Life, and if I am not in SL I am busy testing other games outside of SL and such. Yes Second Life is a Simulator to some like the Sim's and such but I feel that it could also be much more, and come more like the a new 2011 Simulator experience, not sure if this would be possible to one day get SL to have some of these changes, or even if it would be within the cost range of LL to make such changes but I know myself I would love to see improvements like this. Lets think of it like this, Even if I was the dumbest game artist out there, it would be nice to have some of these features, so that anyone could create content within Second Life similar to certain other MMO's or games like APB and such. Even if I am not the best at what I do I could easily write things on my characters skin, adjust the details of such in the actual game and such. This would also make it easier for new people to create Sculpts and such of course even without the brightest of experience and such. I mean imagine ajusting or tweaking a sculpt in SL without the need to reupload it and such of how nice that would be.
  6. To answer the question it really depends on a few things. 1. A full region in Second Life costs $300 USD per month, and the cost in L$ is around 81k Linden Per month, anything above that and you are over paying for a full region. 2. It also depends on what you are using the land for, if you just want a small piece like a 4096, or Prims, then there are other land rental deals you can make if you are just interested in using the land for a place to set your home, or have a house and such. 3. If you are looking for a full Region, and can afford up to around $350 USD per month then I guess the choice is up to you, there are some Land Rental companies in SL I know charge 8k Per 4096 SQM per month, now if you do the basic math 8000 L$ X 16 = 128k L$, which comes out to around $496.13 USD, or $478.14 cashed out through Linden Lab back to real money, so in other words if a region costs $300 USD per month they make $196 USD profit if they take that L$ and resell it through a third party site like some do, or they make $178 USD profit if they cash it out through Linden Lab, and that is only per region imagine owning 1000+ Regions in SL and doing that if you manage to keep them all full you would be rich. 4. So to answer the question in my opinion if you can afford a full region, I would just simply buy a full region, or find a land owner who doesn't care about making a big profit and renting it from them at regular price of around 81k L$ per month. I know that there are a lot of RP regions in SL as well that rent land out at 8k Per 4096 and that is still way over priced as well. 5. Renting, can be cheap if you can find a desperate owner who is loosing profit and wants to rent their region without making a big profit, if you need to see if you are over paying go here and check on the L$ calculator, but if I were to make a full RP sim I would just buy the whole region myself. https://secondlife.com/my/lindex/sell.php 6. Another alternate option is to rent on a homestead a 16384 SQM if you are just looking for a home, not an entire rp sim, or maybe renting a full homestead for RP, but that would not work well on combat based RP, and would only work if you had a small group of friends that logon and RP at different times as a homestead can only hold like 20 people. -Other- 7. Also remember that RP regions do attract a lot of Drama, and Griefing I know this from experience, and you need a good Admin/GM's who can manage and help deal with such unless you are there 24/7, this is if the simulator has build on anyways otherwise you can just turn off build and keep it text based RP never have to worry about that at least not much anyways, and yes you can simply use an age verify script, but there are ways to circumvent most everything I would say the best option right now is to only allow residents without payment info into your land keeps repeat griefers from coming back over and over at least they cant easily do it as fast. 8. And if you are doing Combat based RP and not text then you will need some type of hud like DCS, or BNWCS. I like BNWCS a lot for combat based RP and really I would love to see some new great RP sims without drama, and sims run by experienced people open again in SL as it seems the community in general has lost quite a few sims that were once good in my opinion, and some have downsized big times. 9. But you also have to take into account that most MMORPG based titles are coming Free 2 Play that means you don't have to pay real money for anything at all, and so some of these RPG titles might draw people away from RP sims in SL, as well as combat based, well I will be honest to a certain point it drew me away from SL because in those games don't have drama really compared to what goes on in SL, although SL is more of a virtual 3D Chatroom for friends aka a Simulator, not a game, so given the fact that SL scripting does lack a lot of things it can cause some problems in my opinion at least I think, take a look at an example. http://www.lineage2.com I know that this game is unrelated to SL, but it was developed years ago, and I really would love to see a RPG with similar armors, or mesh like used in L2, Animations, and a Total Skills System with effects like in L2 for example, although I don't know it is possible that is one of my dreams to see actually come true in SL like when Rodvik was talking about NPC's I think, I mean not an exact duplicate of such an RPG, but something that has cool looking spells, skills, armors, and fully PVP between avatars in SL would be great.
  7. Well that depends, I have worn over 500 scripts on my avatar before and not crashed a simulator, or created many issues for others, it depends what the scripts are doing, how much script memory they are using, and how much memory the server has and how much it can actually use, a good server really wouldn't have a problem processing 500 scripts on a single agent, but I try to keep my scripts 80 or less now a days since I know about it more. Simple scripts such as a flgiht enhance, or simple gun scripts with Rez Slaves, and other various functions throught certain parts of armor such as an avatar, would not really cause a simulator to crash to .1 dialation, or make it very unstanble, I would say that it is more than likely a griefer griefing the region, and there are many forms of griefing in Second Life. Another example is if my clothing/armor was about 40 prims, and it was running simple animation scripts, and change texture scripts those do not use a lot of memory, and are usually not always active at least like Huds that create massive lag at certain times, I remember when I always used huds in the past how much lag they would create like 5.0% script time and above. UUID's, Sounds, Animations create lag. Most people know of UUID's, and think of them as bad things because of the Copybot, but a UUID is given to every uploaded asset to LL's servers, for example if you had lets say 15,000 Prims in your region, each prim was a cube, and every cube had a different UUID texture, also depending on texture resolution, and size, and this does not include object geometry, Sculpty prims, or Mesh. But when a user loads into the simulator they have to load all the data that is being sent to their clients such as texture UUID's all other UUID's including animations playing, sounds, Mesh, and Sculpty UUID's, and depending on how many of these are loading, and how many agents, or people are in the simulator at one time this can create major lag. For example if I went to a simulator very heavily loaded and brought in 25 people all at the same time, this is the reason you notice a major lag spike, the other factor is client settings, for example if I keep my bandwidth at max, and have a very fast connection keep my draw distance at 512 at all times like I usually do depending on how much data is being sent to my client/computers cache this can create lag espically if a lot of users are loading the same stuff. This is one reason some regions say turn your bandwidth down to a certain setting the only thing it improves is the lag, although because it takes longer to load technically it will lag more over time than have burst lag, or lag spikes. *This is also another reason sometimes people make preloaded UUID cube/huds which preload a UUID's used in the same region such as textures, and sounds to a persons client before they enter the region so they are already cached and can be loaded more quickly. * This is one way you can create griefer prims that fill up a region, and or called torture prims which create massive lag both server side, client side, and crash regions, this does not include using LL's new physics system to abuse a simulator either, although everything can create a certain amount of lag there are people who will abuse such on purpose to crash simulators such as sandbox regions, I actually see this quite often in SL, for example quickly filling up a users cache with random particles, and UUID's makes them get a corrupted cache, have to sometimes totally wipe cache, and viewer settings, and this can grief people who know very little about SL itself or viewers when they have to do a manual fix/reset of all viewer settings.* For example you could use a bunch of scripts talking to eachother repediately through worn objects to cause a simulator to lag, knowingly this is considered abuse of region resources, or you could rez objects which make a simulator very unstable and crash, how I work in public areas depends on the following. 1. Is the person who rezzed those objects an actual griefer for example in a sandbox sometimes new people to SL get given a griefer object by a griefer and they rez it and it does wierd things to the region if I find out that this has happend to someone, I do file an AR, but I include on the report that some griefer was handing it out and that they didn't know so that LL doesn't exactly fully blame them for being a newbie and they have a chance to come back, or appeal a suspension if they got such. 2. Abuse of region resouces I only consider, or file an AR when it is done on purpose, for example if I was in a region, or if a user was accidently using a hud that was creating Lag, I would try to talk to the person about it first, and if it was on my region I would give them a fair warning before taking action agaisnt such a user such as a land, or sim ban, and or report to LL, as they might just not know or have forgot to delete resizer scripts from their items it happens. 3. It seems that some people are too Ban Happy, and AR happy on our grid over some very little things I really only AR for the serious issues, or issues that can't be resolved peacefully between individuals that create a lot of drama/break the CS by creating harassment, or serious big problems for myself or friends, while I believe users have that right I find that doing such now just because you can kinda does disrupt the peace, creates drama, espically if you have stores on your region, and people want to buy legit items instead of free copybot/cloned content, I know that some designers ban on sight for example just because they are caught wearing a ripped hair without knowledge, but I find it wrong and they should at least be told and given a chance to change and learn, but this is how I operate things on my land, and hey I know there are some simulators, and residents on our grid who simply dont care, and some who create a lot of problems and drama espically those simulators in SL that call themselves MMORPG's which create so much drama, spread rumros and lies.
  8. The DNS problem with SL is often a problem with your internet connection, usually due to a slow internet, or downloading/using torrents, could be someone else as well using the same network, or wireless connection creating issues, and if not there is a simple fix for this I find that often works. 1. Turn off the computer. 2. Unplug your modem/router, wait about 60 seconds most say, but id say 3-5 minutes, and then plug it back in, and Turn the computer back on. For users who know how to use a command prompt. 1. Run the command prompt as an administrator. Type the following commands in this order. 1. ipconfig/flushdns 2. ipconfig/release 3. ipconfig/renew I find that these usually fix most basic issues with internet connection problems otherwise I would check. www.speedtest.net www.pingtest.net
  9. I am going to share an opinion here, but please keep in mind, I am not a Lawyer, or LAW, and this is strictly my personal opinion. 1. I do not Support SOPA Because it violates our U.S Constitution and amendments. 2. I do not Want Censorship of the internet. 3. Second Life Copybot & DMCA, it is impossible to Control the CopyBot for right now, it will never stop no matter what and the only thing we can do as SL residents really is Deal with it, file DMCA, and Abuse Report CopyBot's and Griefers, and the supporters of such. Hey I hate people stealing all these hairs and giving them away to newbs, if we get a better community who actually acres and doesn't use stolen content, and Content Developers who will be more than willing to work with new people to support content creation, There will always be evil on the grid including a CopyBot, but for the most part people will be willing to buy legally. 4. Then there is Software Piracy, and Game Piracy, and Game Modding. I do not agree with Piracy, I try not to violate a TOS, OR CS on any game, or service, however I modify anyting I want to about any game I want to such as the interface of a game. If I purcahse a PS3, I will modify it or do whatever I want with it just Like Hotz did, and I really dont care what Sony thinks about it because its my software/hardware copy, and I never signed any agreement with Sony for example. Sometimes people cant afford to pay the expesnive Cost of software so they pirate it or find a crack for it, I can easily crack any software trial by simply using a program called run as date and run the file as that date all the time so that it doesnt detect that I have had it for 30 days that might or might not be legal, but if I can't afford to pay for something that is what I do, however I make absolutely no profit off of any of it, so I dont see what harm it would cause to people although I have never illegally pirated movies, and sold them, or made any profit off another persons work. Music such as music on a radio, I record what I want when I please such as Video, Audio, Games, or Record songs from YouTube sometimes, I am aware that I don't own rights to that music, or art, I never make a profit off of it I keep it strictly fan based, and if I am in violation of a Law, then how would they even know unless the government is spying on me to begin with. In general I support the Content Creators OF SL, as there is no reason at all why people should be Copybotting other peoples work, giving it away to newbs and destroy SL. There are plenty of free items in SL, there are some creators ive met who give away free skins and hairs Legit ones to newbies who truly need some help, and most imporantly Content in SL doesn't cost much I mean a Hair costs $1 USD or less to buy so why Steal in SL there is no point and no reason. But Piracy is Piracy? There are many forms of piracy where it be SL, I believe that what I do be considered fair use and within the Law, while other people may have other opinions it is up to them of what they believe in. I think Creators of content have rights over their work, but sometimes the whole Anti Piracy thing goes way too far not talking about in SL but piracy as far as software, movies and games, and other digital works. If I wanted to take a snapshot of my SL avatar, or a video in another game like All Points Bulletin, or World OF Warcraft, they own copyrights over their digital works, but I believe that is fair use for example, now could they DMCA my video on YouTube or request a take down maybe, I am not fully up to date on all these content protection laws, but I will never support Internet Censorship, otherwise the United States OF America might as well call themselves China or something. But because I have different Opinions on outside of SL stuff does that mean I support Stealing in SL, absolutely not, while I have been accused by some of being a griefer, or some random LulzTroll, or Thief in SL, I have yet to see actual proof of this, and again SL is not protected in any way for content creators really. People will always fall into Ignorance on our grid or community as a whole for example someone Griefs in someone elses name Hi, My name is (Player A) I am griefing for revenge people believe that sometimes and that is absolutely stupid. Sure I have enemies people who I have pissed off big times for being against theft in SL and really they think its funny to try to grief in my name its too obvious to LL and to most others I know. Just because a person knows how to Troll, Grief, or what a CopyBot is, how to cheat, exploit, or Beta Test, or a Computer Tech does not make them a griefer in any way at all, just like a gun shop in RL that sells guns doesn't make them bad Guns don't kill people, people kill people you know the famous quotes from the internet type of thing, but really Technology evolved over so many years no I dont know all my history, but I still remember the good old bow & arrow used for hunting by the natives and such for example Technology and knowledge is not evil is my point. An Open Mind is always good. *As Far as SL Piracy* It will not easily come to an end until Linden Lab comes in with a Solution to protect users content with a more secured way that can't be cracked client wise, which might be hard to do with an old game like this, but I agree LL could add some measures to prevent a lot of griefing in certain ways, but beyond that it is hard to protect content, we just have to try our bests in SL for now like it or not I will always support Authentic SL Creations, so will my friends I know, and I do my best to attempt to get people to buy legit items when they are wearing stolen stuff and I see it. No I do not support SOPA, or Any Type OF Internet Censorship! (Say No To It) Don't let the United States Be Lost to Censorship!. *The Government has no right to control what knowledge we have, what sites we can visit, or what we can do, if a person is illegally profiting from software or something illegally then they can be dealt with, but fair use of software, games and music isn't a big problem, I could understand illegally selling them, or profiting, or in a virtual game like SL. http://www.washingtonpost.com/business/sopa-stop-online-piracy-act-lawmaker-opposition-grows-as-debate-heats-up/2011/11/18/gIQADBdQZN_story.html?tid=pm_business_pop We all know what sony did with their money and power, and Hotz, Hotz didn't really do anything illegal he modified his PS3, and shared his knowledge for people who wanted to do the same, as a result, sony got hacked they compromised Thousands/Millions of users information because they couldn't protect anyone. They then used their money Their Power to do nothing but get court orders for disclosure of IP addresses of who visited his MOD site and such. Do not allow Abuse, or support SOPA. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Hotz This is a good example to show how an Internet War, or Uprising will occur sound SOPA be passed into law, imagine the internet rage, War, fighting worse than occupy wallstreet.
  10. I agree with this problem, this Age Verification thing has created serious issues, and security concerns for our grid. As some RP Regions in Second Life such as Gorean, NOR, and other RP simulators which have explicit content in them are rated Adult, it has done a lot when Linden Lab Required ID to be VERIFED! Now Teens can access any adult area by simply clicking I agree I am over the age of 18, and get access to adult areas exposing them to Child Predators, Molestors, and possibly some very sad parents for the loss of their loved children. I agree that parents are responsible for their children, or Teens under the age of 18 however not all parents are computer smart and Teens find a way into adult places sometimes, and so I feel that the company should do the right thing and try to prevent access to minors. Sure a Teen who is smart can forge an ID, OR lie about their age and do adult RP with an adult still, or either way be exposed to child predators in any game, or service I know this, but we as adults should do our best to prevent such. I came from the Teen Grid myself, I know some Teens Under the age of 18 as well, not all teens are bad there are some very respectful ones who respect the rules, even some that fought Content Theft on the Teen Grid before I knew anything about it at all, and hey I love those. Then you got your rude teens of course I try to forgive but somethings can be very hard to at times espically when some people create so much drama. Security Wise Having adult land that required an ID, helped keep griefers from attacking a simulator, I will not say anything about anyone specifically, but some RP simulators I knew called NOR in Second Life, were attacked by Random Griefers, People attacked them using my name as a griefer out of Hate, I know the group who did it I filed AR's on each and everyone one of them, and I still got accused by some people I can't give names of here for being a griefer. Not only did they attack those simulators but they attacked some content creators in my name, people I never met in SL before, Griefed some random Gorean Regions places I had never been to before, and even caused problems for a specific person I just really met who has health problems in real life. * None of this would have happend had Linden Lab had kept age verification turned on to require ID, sure they might have got a couple of accounts in there to grief true, but not as many as they did because I got attacked myself an entire week from their regions people trying to play me against them, and cause me hate from people who create content in SL all for the Lulz.* I have asked that Linden Lab, go back to require of age verification and actual ID, I have also requested that they give us last names back, or the ability to create our own default last name, and do something to get better control against griefers and those defaming and trying to ruin people with no evidence. Sure as one creator I spoke to said they will send notice about griefers and thieves in their group, I honestly dont mind if they do, but I care if they are not going to back up their evidence with something when they send out the notice that actually links, suspects or proves such LL should do something about it these griefers, and harassment in our grid. The bottom line is that Age verification helped a lot of people against alternate account abuse as well, I know there are ways around that, but at least it helps prevent a lot of griefers from creating account after account for the sole purpose of griefing with them. Imagine what it would look like on the Todays Show, or something if I took a laptop there and showed everyone how easy it is to be a child predator online in virtual games like this, how concerned you think parents would be, and imagine if I showed how easy it was on live television to bypass a Ban in almost any virtualworld game. I agree with remaining Anonymous on the internet, but someone has to have control over preventing abuse, and keeping the young ones safe as well. Teens in SL is not a toal bad thing, but they need to know of the dangers of giving out RL information, and they need to know how to protect themselves, and stay to their PG area of the grid.
  11. The best way to solve a fraud / Secuirty issue is simply to respond to the ticket Linden Lab updated, and simply tell them what you are telling us here on the forum, and the truth. The L$ could have been fraud, or stolen in which case they might ask for ID, and if no wrong doing is found on your end they will more than likely unlock all your accounts. Also depending on how much L$ it was it could have simply been a suspecious transcation it depends really as there are some third party companies that sell L$ although I do not buy from third parties much myself and something like 100k L$ trading hands really fast to an account with no payment info for example and not very old can look suspecious not saying that this is the case. It could also be a problem where you used a proxy, or logged in from a public location of an IP address that was previously flagged, but again there is a lot of things when it comes to tese type of investergations and for the most part you as the user shouldn't have to do anything beyond answer the questions of who gave you the L$, and tell them if it was a friend, a family member or something for example. It could also be a griefer who on purpose wanted to get your account suspended, or cause an issue, some griefers will try to setup a fraud complaint to get others on hold, temporay blocked or such, and if I noticed any unknown L$ on my account I would immediately file a report to LL for investergation just so everyone knows about this, as it could help an innocent person, save yourself problems, and help Linden Lab too, and I know two other people who had a similar issue before. Just reply to it, and tell LL the truth about it and I believe it should all be okay, I know how pissed off people can get when an account gets put on hold ive been through it a few times but I am still here and beyond the accusations others throw out about me this is my main, and I dont hide behind alts.
  12. I find that this is unconstitutional because a person should be required to sign the agreement in Real Life, there should be no such thing as a digital agreement and a simple I accept/IDecline button as no one knows who clicked it, if the agreement was ever fully trasmitted or read and such. Rewrite Cyber Security Laws? Okay lets talk for a moment about something are we talking about a game companies TOS/CS such as Linden Lab, or a players Second Life MMORPG, TOS, because there is this group of simulators I know in Second Life who writes this very long TOS in their covenant, and I will spare everyone of the drama here and keep this short, but their Owner Threatend me in SL called me a Domestic Terroirst, Threatend the FBI on me, then their manager disclosed IP addresses without consent of all parties to my email that was signed up on their forums erased the message so others wouldn't see it, it wasn't my IP so I dont care, but still that email also contained private Chatlogs where they accused me to another well known user of being a griefer on their regions with no proof of anything, talked to two of my so called Undercover friends who were checking into this for me, and accused me of being a griefer, and defamed my avatar without reason at all. They have the right to do what they want on their own land, they do not have the right to try to send around false rumors without any type of evidence, or ask others and their friends to send out false notices in their Gorean groups to create drama, these notices accused me of being an account of a griefer, and a CopyBot, but they refused to give names and public the evidence they had simply because they have nothing other than rumors or accusations, yet on the other hand I have way more evidence I have collected on this group of people which would make them Cyber Bullies, and talk about cyber bullying and cyber crime when it comes down to it they are the ones guilty of this as I have multiple documents, Logs of attacks recorded, spam mail sent to me using their estates in SL where they clearly didn't even care about it, and did nothing this went on for almost a week. Although the people who sent these notices did give me enough Evidence in the logs where they clearly told me who made these accusations, and lets just say that I did not stay quiet about it due to their accusations and refusing to look into the issue, what more can I say as I have already said some people and ignorance I hate to say it but its not directed to anyone so I will. However I did give them a fair warning and a chance to resolve the issue nicely they all refused so I refuse to shut my mouth and allow these rumors unless they actually have the skills or knowledge to at least back it up and willing to send out the actual evidence connecting me with names of who said what other than rumors but SL is known for its rumors espically in RP simulators, and yes it is a violation of the TOS/CS to be spreading such but people do it all the time, I really try to avoid such, and rarely actually get problems, and most my problems I have ever had have occur in RP regions with ignorant GM's who refuse to listen to anything even common sense. What more can I say other than in a gaming community thats why we got MMO debate blogs where people debate their opinions and fights over games all the time, and if it doesn't occur in SL, or SL Service they can't and wont get involved in the dispute. Linden Lab's Mistake. Linden Lab made a big mistake back in the day when they made the claim, Your World, Your Imagination, and they also made me believe that I owned License rights to content I purchased, and to the land I owned, that in other words I would always have access to that content. A game Companies TOS, How to enforce it. In a game like Second Life, how do you enforce a TOS when other people are allowed to break the TOS/CS in big ways and nothing gets done because LL doesn't get involved in any type of residentual disputes. In a game where someone could create a massive vendor network like sale vendors, and take all of a persons virtual money from them and quickly launder it out or cash it out where is the security for such issues. Most actual MMORPG games like world of warcraft require Real Life information SL does not collect any RL information OR ID on registeration. Second Lfie itself uses display names therefore for example my SL name could be created with a name such as GGoth, and used the display name to look exactly like mine for griefers to grief in my name or anyone elses without any type of reason defaming us and ruining us from places we have never been in SL. The way to correctly enforce the TOS is to require payment information to sign up on future accounts, Require Actual ID Verification to get into Adult Areas dont expose people under 18 to explicit content, and Require a RL First and Last name, enhance security more and a lot of these griefer things wouldn't happen. I really wish more people were Truthful, and Honest about things. Really I find it sad to say, but in a virtual world, game, or service Like Second Life, I am always expecting a dagger in the back no matter what who or even if it is a friend and that reason is simple, I trust no one at all, I am Anti social, I have learned not to put any trust into anyone I talk to on the internet where it be SL, a Dating Site, or anything else, Sure I can talk like I trust the person if I like them, Sure I am friends with my enemies, I dont actually ranomly ban griefers off my lands or people for personal reasons unless they are actually doing something on my land, but over all I will always expect that dagger in the back even if it seems I trust them and yes it does hurt to be backstabbed by your own friends and people you have trusted, I Refuse to do with Evil people in SL, I refuse to be part of a group of people knowingly that supports or does anything to bring harm to our community as a whole in any way, and if my RP group or anyone is going to do it simply do not involve me into it because I want our grid to be peaceful not full of hatred and war like it is right now. Sure RP Wars are fun, playing with Tanks, or Guns I can respect, Using a nuke on a simulator for fun, well honestly sometimes things get out of hand people do lulzy things that are fun like this instance a group of people I know took a bunch of tanks into this RP sim that didnt allow it and started shooting everyone for fun there with combat meters on sure they broke the rules, but it was just for the fun of it and done once they all got banned but were removed from the ban list like a month later I believe it was and hey I am glad to see some people don't take things so serious. Another thing I really do not like is giving into Griefers, You give into a griefer and they reach their goal they are just going to come back in the future for more revenge or others, or to push others around, hey its common sense that if I were a griefer myself I would not ever use my own SL name, or anything linking back to me I would take my IPad, or my Laptop and go over to Burger King or something to grief/troll, but never would I expsoe myself and it is just common sense because after all I may not be a big expert in software, but I know about IP tracking, MAC Address bans, How to avoid such and the security/loop holes in many games because not only do I build computers but I am a gamer who beta tests games, even some games in Alpha Testing before they ever went into beta, and my job as such mostly in Alpha is not to disclose anything, and to report bugs to the developers. So to draw the line with the Law & Breaking the TOS/CS. Unless everyone is actually going to be bound to this CFAA act, and everything is going to be 100% peaceful in Second Life, or any other virtual service, I really do not support such and think that for the most part it is unlawful that such an act be placed in a service such as Second Life, as hey I have been bullied by the owner of these RP simulators, and their Lead GM, and nothing was ever done about it by Linden Lab. In real Life I am also a person who has thought about Suicide as well no kidding, or trolling either, so when stuff occurs like this where do they become held accountable for their defaming, and threats, and most of all I know my legal rights so they would have to obtain a search warrent and need evidence before one could actually be obtained, and these logs would have to also match up with the servers aka Linden Lab in which they would only have maybe a year to do such if they even could, and besides I have the logs of all their threats stored on my PC, and false accusations so I know for a fact they wouldn't rat themselves out. http://news.cnet.com/8301-31921_3-57324779-281/doj-lying-on-match.com-needs-to-be-a-crime/ I myself am more of a supporter of the EFF, I support the Constitutional Law, I don't like how police can place a tracker on a person, or their Car just because they want to, they should be required to have a warrent before doing such, but as we have seen on the news they don't need one, and I consider such to be a violation of our privacy as U.S citizens. Internet Censorship I support Freedom of speech always will, but there is a time when Drama becomes harassment, defaming avatars, and that can turn into RL threats, or internet crime. I have never used a service to threaten a person espically RL threats. Lets say YouTube for example the entire gaming community is filled full of Cheater Videos such as people using Aimbot in certain games, or in other words someone griefs me in Second Life do not expect me to lay down shut my mouth up when someone thinks its fun to try to defame my avatar, because hey it might be illegal in the SL TOS/CS to disclose that information here, names, or logs, but I do actively monitor all data sent from my PC, my entire home network, I record when and what I want in a virtual world like it or not where it be SL or another service, usually I never turn on Fraps, or an audio recorder unless someone starts to grief or do harassment to me in SL for example, but in other games I do use these, and I will not again lay down and let people try to run all over me, if someone wants to start a war with me then there will be a war, I am not saying a war as in Griefing, but I will expose the truth, or in other words my public opinion, and I will make sure that I try to help others avoid the same problems I have with those particualr simulators or people if I can at least until they come to their senses and deal with issues that were clearly for the most part their fault and their mistakes. * While in SL this wouldn't be legal to do for example, I have other ways to make sure word gets out, and the truth, and I use my first rights to do such. In other words if someone wants to file a complaint on my YouTube for defaming an avatar, then they can go right ahead call the Police, get the FBI involved I don't care because really most gamers don't take things seriously when it comes to cheater videos, but in a service like SL, if someone did decide to take actions on a video posted about them for example they are more than welcome to because I have more than enough evidence on my PC to get myself off the hook about anything I have posted, and hey I have been threatend once in 2009/2010 nothing ever came of it, and in 2011 I was threatend again by another corrupt group of people Nothing has came of that yet and I still await. 1. One of my YouTube videos was Falsely DMCA reported once simply because I used a snapshot of the guys picture/CDS system or ban relay in my video agaisnt his system accusing people without proof, it was there for like less than 30 seconds which means it is considered Fair Use under the DMCA, and the DMCA reports were falsely filed on multiple videos by Griefers, well guess what, I counter Filed that DMCA, I was never taken to court over it, but I removed it anyways and found other ways to spread the truth. 2. I used this persons SL griefer profile information to match it with another griefer their alt when it was publically exposed they reported my video simply because it had a snapshot of their picture they claimed was them RL in the video, but who knows if it was or not they were a hardcore griefer someone who I can't stand to be around people ive known longer than them, and they are the ones responsible for griefing in my SL name at least once that I know of and failed. Could I be called an Internet Griefer, OR Troll? Technically I know the gaming community very well, I have connections around, I also know my legal rights, and yes I do know how to grief a person where this be in SL, or another game such as DumpTruck griefing in All Points Bulletin, or MineCraft griefing and such, but this really doesn't make me a bad person. Ask yourself was the person of the Atom bomb a bad person, the people who make guns are they bad or evil? To answer this with my own opinion I would say no, because one day an Atom Bomb, may save lives, Nuclear Power for example, and Fusion has came a long ways with research, and gun makers did not ask others to kill other people with them. Now if you compare this to a CopyBot, the Copybot, or LibSL to me was not made for stealing work from other creators, the people who make such illicit viewers don't ask others to steal work from others, they do it out of their own free will, and when it comes down to the bottom line, Guns don't kill people people kill people, and its the choices we make that determine if we are good or evil, or do with evil. *Now but not Least lets talk about justice.* I believe in Justice, and Truth, I guess if you played the heroes side on DC Universe, or a similar game you would understand how I operate what I believe in, and how I keep an open mind all sides, and speaking of such lets talk about Sony. Sony in 2011, went after George Hotz, simply for modifying his own PS3, and helping others do such, they made claims that he was doing it to support piracy, but yet I believe he was not because PS3 users simply wanted the ability to Play Burned Disks in their PS3's that they can't, and run Linux if they wanted to and such, but instead this kid who isn't even that old a Good Cracker, or Hacker gets Lawsuited by Sony without reason false DMCA claims simply because he modified firmware on his own PS3, he never signed an agreement when he bought his PS3 that he couldn't modify his own stuff, but sony violated Hundreds if not thousands of peoples privacy first by getting a court order because they were rich and powerful to get disclosure of information from anyone who visited his site for the PS3 mod. Then Sony got hacked, and if you ask me I say Justice was served well, who did it remains unknown to anyone other than the rumors going around about it all, but hey I hope they learned from their mistake, and below I will give some resources on such that are commonly shared around the internet. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/George_Hotz (George Hotz) (Ps3 Users) (HB Gary) Yes thats rite He lost a great paying Job. (Credit Card/Visa Companies)Okay so allow me to say that I believe in Justice, and it will be served big times when people think its funny to mess with the wrong people they have no idea who they are messing with. Let alone we are all just Users of a virtual world called Second Life, yet Sony is a million Dollar company, Visa, and HB gary worked with the government, not even they could protect themselves, my point being that I believe in justice, or Karma, and will support it, and hey I admit I rage I get very upset I bite and I think others do too sometimes, but the only time I usually ever become a furious kitten is if someone tries to bring harm first. As far as being afraid to speak about anything I am not because I do not believe in censorship, and I do not believe in these false Criminal Acts, people will lie all the time, people will break the TOS, but does and can a company actually completely enforce their TOS, the answer to this is waiting to be seen. I really do not support the Government on the following, and really do not like what they are doing. 1. I do not like the laws they are posting about digital agreements. 2. I do not like the fact they have the right to search me anywhere I go for reason or no reason at all RL. 3. I do not like the fact they can place a GPS devide on me, or my car without my knowledge or a warrent. 5. Let me make myself very clear on this too, I support being Anonymous on the internet, no im not talking about Anonymous the hackers group or any of that, Anonymous isn't really a hacker group I dont beleive Anonymous is everyone and no one, Anyone who doesn't want to be known thats my view of it, the only thing I do not support is the griefing, but if someone wants to use their Facebook name as their SL name or something, then let them, but require their First & Last name for company use only and that information is never to be stored in database where it can be hacked, or disclosed to anyone else at all. I also support the EFF, and ACLU fully, and often read what is going on as I am sometimes into politics. 5. The Question is why Occupy Wallstreet is going on, well I support it because I support Freedom and rights for all U.S Citizens www.anonops.blogspot.com for full details and videos on politics.
  13. Well the only thing legal in SL is the TOS/CS which people obviously have to always try to follow to their best, and by that I mean sometimes people step out of line a bit in the Community Standards I don't make a big deal over such, anyways... In game contracts between users mean nothing at all, I do not consider any type of Digital Contract, or Agreement from any Third Party, game, or software Legally binding unless signed in real life there is no evidence, not to mention all the services I signed up for when under 18 RL were not legally binding contracts to certain points. The most any service really ever does in any game, or service not including but not limited to Second Life, is ban, or suspended/terminate your account, or access to the service. As far as an in game contract between two residents, or a company, I wouldn't consider that legally binding, and I assume you are talking about a contract like an Escourt, or a Slave contract or possibly something else like a Hostess/Club Contract, those are all agreements made by a person, or personal in SL, now LL will not get involved with those type of contracts for any reason. However I would not sign any type of digital contract outside of Second Life, or Give any Real Life information, as if you did such or signed up an actual contract they could always try to sue Real Life which is of course outside LL's jurisdiction. NoteCard, Contracts obviously mean nothing, and are not legally binding, and LL will also not get involved with such, I have seen these even been given them before to sign up if I wanted a SL Job, not only do most SL Jobs pay hardly anything, at least the ones I know, but these contracts can be broken at any time by either party and there is nothing no oen can do, although they can ban you from their lands, and possibly spread rumors about you breaking the contract, although that there is considered Defaming of avatar, and a Violation of the Community Standards I still see people doing that all the time at least it has happend to me twice big times by popular people but they couldn't back anything they said. * see in a Court, or Law.* You can simply plead the 5th means you don't have to say anything, and it is up to them to prove you are guilty, however in SL servers NoteCard contracts, or assets can often become edited in many ways, and there is no proof to verify that it is legal or not, this is of course not talking about a digital contract outside SL such as a third party site, or something which I would not do myself, but even those without a RL signature can be hard to prove. << Plead the Fifth. Although a good rule of thumb to know is that if you sign a contract you should always honor your part of it, and have good faith in it, but also know that by doing such you should never give Real Life details for any reason, and you should always know that it can be broken as well and you may loose money, or whatever was in that contract. Of Course if you accept a contract you no longer want to be a part of such as being a slave in SL, you should always just contact the people you made the deal with it and work it out with them, and the most they can do is again ban you from their land or spread rumors but beyond that you are not breaking the TOS/CS, however defaming residents is a violation of the CS, but a lot of people try to do it sometimes espically RP simulators, GM's, or Owners. I would also never for any reason give any real life details in Second Life, as Second Life has really good people at times, but I often run into a lot of griefing, and trolls in this whole grid, some people who are well known trust griefers, or trolls sometimes I guess their lack of judgement, or Intellect or something, but doing such can lead to stalking, harassment, threats, or worse at which point you should contact the police, or file a Internet Crime Complaint, and save any logs of such to your PC as evidence as if the issue does take legal action those logs can be found on the game, or server, but take actions as they occur not way later. * OF Course if there is no RL threats, just in game griefing you should file an abuse report for either of them, but LL deals with the in world griefing.* Also Be Aware of Third Party Surveys, these type of Surveys, or Contracts some of them are done by Web Browser, or Third Party Surveys, and they collect information such as IP addres, RL details, and such they give you Free L$, but if you do not read each ones privacy policy, or if they don't have one and you give any information about yourself at all this information be can be sold, or given away freely about you, your identity, and it is hard to deal with, and LL doesn't deal with such either. I for one do not permit this type of stuff in my SL Life, not saying that all surveys are bad as there are some that will not do such but a lot of these lead to spam mail as well, possible account compromise in SL, and possibly other games or services, and is a good way to get a virus sometimes too, and NEVER Give out any type of payment information, and Always Verify, that you are signing into the correct site such as Second Life, or the Service You are using, do not be folled by phishing attempts. In fact to protect your privacy you should never Leave Media enabled, Never Let Scripts Control Your Play Button, or accept any type of Web Requests from any object spamming you to visit a site such as a grief, or anything these can be used to obtain your IP or other information, and used to troll, or grief a user, only go to sites you trust in SL.
  14. https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ Go here, and file a ticket, under Account/Reactivate An Old Account, or Abuse Appeal. As you have said you have done nothing it could be on hold due to a many of number of reasons, although it could take one - two weeks for them to respond. The Latest Trolling attempts are to falsely report a user for being. 1. Under Age 2. Being a CopyBot, or Griefer. If someone reported you for being underaged your account could have been placed on hold, and LL will request a copy of a RL ID, and if it is something else I am sure they will look into it for you it could take maybe 1-2 weeks for them to get back to you or maybe a couple of days if you are lucky. Another common reason for a hold is you may have done nothing, but you may have a lot of stolen content in your ivnentory aka Stolen Items like piracy of Real World Movies in your inventory. If that is the case LL may likely reactivate your account, but when you get it back if that could be the case, many new people in SL go shopping for freebies, or get a big box of hairs, and not know it is stolen and that can be understood I was once one of those newbs, but anyways go through your inventory and type "IP Replacement", and also check for Intellectual Property Complaint, which is a notecard in some Boxes, or possibly in your inventory, and delete any items named such, and or items you know are not legit, You can take snapshots for your records but delete all the items after. Of Course you could have used an IP address assigned by a previous griefer, or have done a transaction with a griefer or accepted an item as well and LL placed it on hold for investergation. or maybe LL thought the account might have been compromised. I use proxies myself too sometimes not much but only when I go to a Land I do not trust for having an alt detector, or visit certain sites or streams I do not trust, and this is the reason I will never use an alt detector in SL because of abuse and harm it can bring to others who have done nothing as long as it just detects based on IP address, and such. Hope this info helps.
  15. The List 1. I would like to see age verification fixed, so that users have to actually age Verify to get into an adult area, otherwise there was no point in making a third Rating called adult. This would prevent Minors from easily accessing Adult content in Second Life, as well as griefers easily getting into adult simulators, Yes a kid can get a use their Parents ID, or a griefer can forge an ID and such, but this prevents people from making hundreds if not thousands of accounts within seconds just for the purpose of griefing, using age verify and griefing adult simulators. 1.1 Add Email Verification, Dont allow users to create accounts and not verify their email. 1.2 Maybe Require Phone Number Verification, and require a person to sign up with their First & Last Real Life Name, I hear it so much I forgot may account info I havent play SL for years, I dont remember my name, email, or password how do I get it back. Answer to that is they can't because LL doesn't require any information at all beyond IP, and MAC, and that really isn't helpful. (Even Google has phone verification.) (OF course maybe require of phone verification is not required, but how about RL information so that a person can get lost accounts back for example, and Linden Lab can be like hey whats your Real Life name, and can look it up and find the users account, not such a bad idea right? 1.3 While you all are at it give residents last names back, give users possibly the ability to create their own. 2. Possibly Require Future Accounts Created To Have A Credit Card, Yes thats right the reason for this is that griefers could not roll account after account just for the purpose of griefing. But for those who do not have access to such, allow them to send in a copy of their ID, this would prevent griefers from randomly creating account after account to grief, again I know this can be circumvented by using a prepaid debit card from a store as a lot of them in my area work with Second Life & Online, but still they require a minimum deposit, $5 fee for the card itself, and if a griefer wants to grief get banned over and over they are going to have to waste money, or provide a RL ID to LL. 3. An Advanced Abuse Report System, Yes just like the mentors, for example any account that is over I would say 2 years old in Second Life would have access to this system, and it would be monitored by Linden Lab for any abuse of such a system. How it would work is simple. Just like the Mentor sign up which is gone, and just like how a person has to have billing information on file, and do an Intellectual Property Quiz to have the ability to do mesh, similar requirements would be required for such as well as account age of at least 2 years, and possibly a real life ID on file and verified by Linden Lab. Okay so how woudl such work, and prevent abuse. Okay so for example if I signed up for such and was approved, and some griefer comes into a sandbox, and spams it full of LulzGriefer cubes which are slowing sim performance very badly, I could right click the object, and file a report at which point Snapshots, and proof of abuse would be sent to Linden Lab & checked for any type of misuse, but at the same time when the report is filed, the Simulator checks for slow performance, and if such is found it immediately returns, or deletes all objects from the simulator, and disables their right to rez, or use those specific tools/prims in that region again for 2 hours enough time for Linden Lab to investergate and prevent mass abuse. * I have seen similar things when I went to attach a hud before in the past and it said can't use item this item has caused problems in the simulator.* - If such a system is abused by anyone just for trolling, or the fun of it those rights would be taken away, and of course all TOS Violations, and Bans, or Suspensions would remain in the hands of Linden's, but this is just a solution to common problems I see such as a private simulator filled full of griefer cubes no one on to return them, and no auto return & such. 4. Improvements to Stop Stolen Content See the problem with stolen content today is that CopyBot, or Theft viewers have evolved so far that it is virtually impossible to stop now, however there is a simple solution I can think of. That Solution is this. Give accounts who are at least 2 years old in SL, Have Payment Info, and Age Verified with actual ID the ability to sign up for a part of sl that allows them to report any item that is CopyBot anywhere in Second Life period. For example if a person is wearing stolen hair, or an attatchment, the person has the ability to right click that attatchment, and hit report, and then a box where they can fill out information about the item, and submit the report, and also included would be a snapshot, and if such is abused by the reporter too much that turn out to be false then the ability to send such gets removed. For example I have found numerous stolen items by banned accounts, or griefer accounts at Nix in Second Life, and they were giving out Random Clothing, Hairs, Skins, ETC, now I filed an abuse report when I noticed this, They were not removed, but a system like this would prevent an object like this from giving out stolen content using a script that senses avatar range, and hands them to every newbie going by and a lot of new people don't know that these items are stolen so they take them as freebies and use them. Such a system would be useful when reporting stolen items being given out in boxes for example, It would also be highly useful at reporting content an avatar is wearing which is stolen, for example if the item was made by CreatorA, and I know that and it had another persons name on it and I knew for sure, this would give Linden Lab the ability to investergate such an issue, and remove such content from peoples inventory, and at the same time no one would be sure who filed what report. Why the need for the help of reporting ripped content, In Real Life lets say for example I am burning illegal DVD's, and selling them, or giving them away illegally, and such. No one is going to know except the people I sold them to unless someone reports it to the police, or such for investergation. In Second Life developers face similar issues, except on a much larger scale, due to the fact that a Theft client can Export everything into a Readable .XML file on a users computer, that file can then be shared anywhere such as a sharing site, service, anyone can then download that file, and import it back into SL with a CopyBot, which is copyright infringment, the problem however is that when the developer of their products files a DMCA only that one copy of identified content is removed, or Blacklisted from the grid, and meanwhile Griefer1, Griefer 2, Griefer 3, Have just made 5 more copies of those same exact items spoofing information and sending them out to a lot of other newbs who then don't know the difference and gives them to their friends and then you got more pirated Copy's of these items out there, so it does no good even filing a DMCA half the time, unless it is certain issues such a person violating a Real Life Name, or causing serious damage like opening an exact copy of your store in SL, and posting it on a piece of land with the same exact products for sale, otherwise they can file hundreds of times but that pirated copy is still going around because it has new asset ID's generated. The only possible way for an Actual Lawsuit against such is if a user downloads the actual Raw Data, aka all the assets, gives them away outside of SL, or sells them, otherwise since a .XML file is really just Shapes, Prims, all the assets remain on LL servers an actual Lawsuit is pretty hard to do when you have no information on the person who has done the infringment, You only got an IP address which is more than likely a Proxy, You have no MAC Address because that MAC Address is Spoofed, and such. 5. Or over all start responding to Reports Faster I reported those items on the freebie market for being a box filled full of nothing but stolen goods, they should have been immediately removed, but they were there for over two weeks and caused damage to multiple individuals, I report griefers in a sandbox spamming me, or someone who has filled a private simulator up full of prims that takes Hours most of the time to get anything done about such. I file a report for people defaming my avatar, trying to ruin my SL Life, Nothing gets done, the notices from the group not removed yet, and its allowed, Big CS violation espically when they cant back up what they said about me, But I can say that if #1, and #2 were being followed, a lot of this griefing, and griefers doing stuff in my name to ruin me, and the attacks on certain sims would never have happend. 6. Remove ban networks from Second Life Not Including, or limited to CDS, Red Zone, or any device that scans people without consent through their media when visiting a club, trying to enjoy SL, such systems defame individuals, store public database of people being a bot user simply because they have the same IP address, Eject/Ban Users without any reason, and even some systems store reports, and collect information without a users consent or knowledge. I know how this is done, but restricting such systems such as these for sale on the market place would be a great start, while users are allowed to ban people from their own land without even giving any reason at all, they should not be allowed to use such a device that can cause defaming of avatar, and harassment. As of Right now it is easy as hell for griefers to make disposable griefer accounts, and easily go into a simulator and grief people over and over again without the risk of getting banned, for example Using a Proxy, or VPN that hides your IP, you can create many accounts per day, and on top of that you combine such with a griefer viewer, or a Viewer Proxy client which allows you to change your MAC Address to anything you desire, Yep thats right if you know another persons MAC address you can spoof being them, and thats what will show up on the logs, and for email addresses you do not even have to verify your email, so if people know a random email address of a person they hate they can register an SL account with it and grief possibly getting them an account suspension without any reason at all, and yes it can be a pain espically when you own a sim that needs to be restarted, Have breedable animals, and friends. * Linden Lab is rumored to be able to tell a persons alts through their %APPDATA% folder, such as the account folders when you are logged into SL, and your cache, and all you have to do to avoid such as delete those folders every time you get a griefer account, and you are right back inside SL with a new account clean spoofed info, Ever herad of the griefer Nightmare Deench who calls himself that and griefs sandboxes saying he has an account that has never been caught, that is how. I have spoken to some people about this before in SL, people who have been attacked by griefers pretending to be me, and as a result the creator then attack me without any hard evidence, or proof, calling me a thief because the other creator sent my name out to thousands of people calling me a Thief without proof or evidence other than accusations, and some calling me a Griefer, or a Domestic Terrorist, but the most important part I told them about this, The griefer group doing this for the laughs, and what was going on, they pretend that I know nothing, and after all I have been in the MMO community for years since the year of 2000 at least thats over 10 years, of experience in seeing cheaters, people yelling out memes, people yelling Hacker, or Aimbotter, and learning to ban dodge. While doing such I of course learned useful things such as working computer hardware constantly learning about computers, new stuff such as AMD's new APU's, Learning cheats and exploits to many games, Beta Testing, and Reporting Exploits to gaming companies, most which are immediately taken care of, but Second Life It is hard to get anything taken care of, even the simple things take Years for LL to solve, or do anything about, and I know that Linden Employee are doing the best they can, I hear at times from other residents, Linden Lab don't care, they don't care who breaks the TOS at all. I myself do not believe that to be true, but I believe Linden Lab to have their hands full, which is why I try not to have to file so many AR's in one day if I can avoid it, and make sure its a big issue bothering, causing me, or others harm before doing such. @ whoever is in charge of Linden Lab, the Design & The Security I really think now is the time to step up the game on security, add improvements, and limit griefers, as Second Life is a social game I am not expecting everyone who breaks the TOS, or CS to get an Immediate Ban Hammer, I am not expecting for Disputes between residents never to happen, they do, and sometimes residents have to work it out among themselves, but I am asking for LL to do what they can to improve the security of our game/Service, and stop all the griefer accounts that do stuff for the Lulz simply because SL has became more and more broken over these years. And Last but not least I believe based on my opinion, that Second Life is still one of the best Social Services, Simulators, or Games out there, these improvements to Security, and Improvements to SL itself such as Enviormental, ETC, Better Simulator Performance would make SL possibly Expand with a lot more people, aka More Money for Linden Lab, a bigger Virtual World, and free from griefing, and more safe for its users.*With More development, I really would not mind seeing the ability to have Mesh NPC Characters like a MMORPG, or the ability to create a future world in an actual 3D enviorment ultra Relistic, SL Clients that support Crossfire, SLI & Multi GPU, and such, as SL is a Multi User Universe, I would not mind seeing a virtual simulator that could hold 30k Prims twice as many as now, higher Sim Tier Packages, A RP simulator that isn't just simple DCS huds, but feels like a True MMORPG enviorment, and all without server side lag, of course this would require major improvements to a users client software, but over all I believe it would be worthit, Imagine SL as a Social Service, and MMORPG, where you never get bored and such, Imagine a way to be able to expand Land beyond 65536 SQM, because you dont need more simulators, you only need room for a very large RPG Build but don't have it. It would be great if such were possible, and this is a good future I look foward to see some day in SL. Thanks
  16. First, let me start out by saying I really do not know if I am posting under the right section, but these are concerns and things that really both me for years in SL just getting worse every single day it seems like. Back in 2010 I had an incident where one person couldn't stand OOC opinions from this RP sim I played in, and since then they have done nothing but been a problem for me. Okay so to keep this as short as possible. I made an appeal for my actions and took responsibility that it was my fault I shared these with this person, and sure it was, what I did not expect is that like two weeks later they got griefed by either themselves, or having people do it, or random Lulz griefers that saw my post on the search engine because their moderator did not restrict google bot access either way it turned into a nightmare, simply put I got banned from 13 simulators, and that was perfectly legal for them to do under our TOS. Now What is not legal for them to be doing. 1. Their covenant says they are allowed to get involved with Im's which are private between individuals to resolve disputes without consent of all parties. 2. Their GM's from their own simulator sent me an Email, with an IP address in it, and some random griefer griefing them with certain posts made which is not mine, in their log they talked behind my back calling me a griefer, and they have done this multiple times to other people I somewhat know as two friends treid to talk to them knock some sense into them, and they refuse to listen and keep talking behind my back, even the owner of these 13 regions accused me of being a Domestic Terrorist, threatend the FBI, or police, and I have sent in abuse reports to Linden Lab on this issue already, but wait it gets better. 3. I have been threatend, my SL account IM's spammed Via scripted objects from their Estates, and simulators, sent rude things by my email from griefer objects used on their sim, and they refused to check anything, and again ive filed AR's on everyone involved griefing me , I tried to talk things over with them all first because hey I would honestly love to save LL's time, and resolve a dispute like an adult than a pissing contest and such. Recently Just 3 days ago, I had a person with a similar name of the previous griefers spamming me with objects send me an IM informing me that a notice was sent out in (Censored) group about me being a CopyBot, the claim accuses me of stealing hairs from creators I have shop from before, other creators ive never met in my life in SL, and I have no idea if this person is informing me, or just a random griefer doing it for the lulz yet, but either way I checked their group open enrollment, and I saw a notice sent out about me saying this. CENSORED (CENSORED) - Caught coppybotter. Stole Items from *CENSORED* and a collar of myself as well as from Truth hair. Might be worth banning from your land Ty *CENSORED* for letting us know *CENSORED* is also known more famously as GothGirl Demonia (this is their second notice) I sent IM's to this person who sent this notice which is the owner of this group, and all they tell me is they got like Several Complaints about me, I asked for evidence that proves such, and they have not came up with a single thing other than giving me the name of the previous RP sim where they created issues from, and I investergated everyones profile that I knew from the person who hated me enough to start this, to another person who randomly IM me, and another person ive only spoken to once in my entire SL Life, and the owner of this one group, all part of the same exact group which explains it to me it looks like friends looking together the Lulz Grief me, or other griefers griefing in my name, which is quite obvious because I have multiple snapshots from these griefers blogs talking about me, snapshots from other blogs outside SL service and forums lulz griefing/trolling me. Which leads to two things. 1. It is related to people who did not want me returning to the Sim because they hated me so much, and did this themselves, or hired people or friends. 2. It is the same griefer group who has griefed me in the past many times with threates, blackmail, hate, and the group responsible for cloning many skins from illusory a store ive never bought from and sending them to many people saying it was from me, their mistake however is I never purchased a fatpack from them, and how can a theif obtain a fatpack unless they download it from an external site illegaly import, and that made it obvious it wasn't from me. Now my concern is simple. I have been griefed by first CDS, and Red Zone in SL accused of being a Thief aka someone who steals goods from others and defamed since 2009, that not being much of a problem anymore as much anyways but still wrongfully done, I now have these people who sent out these notices falsely about me in this group, I have filed an AR because they refused to listen even accept that it might be another griefer doing this as they have no proof it is from me, and now I am banned from at least one store accused by them myself of being a Thief who stole their products Yes I have seen them for sale way back on the market place no I didnt buy, but still I never did such but yet my rep goes down the drain, and I have done nothing but seperate myself as far away as I can get from anyone that I know who steals content, any group, any affilation, I do not want to be part of it, I do not want to be near it, and I do everything to try to make sure I never am even around such ever, its like running to the sink RL constantly to scrub my hands constantly over and over because im afraid of germs that bad. Now what will be done? 1. Well Obviously I have been found guilty with no evidence shown accused of stuff I have never done or been part of, How will I prove I am innocent of such, I honestly do not know as I have told them I work computers, I know what an IP ban is, I know what a MAC ban is, I have many CPU's Motherboards, Processors, Modems, Routers I can easily get around such in any game or service, I can easily avoid spyware now in SL through media or things I consider such I have learned a lot in SL over the years, and this is not a confession that I am a griefer either because obviously I am not, and if I were such I would never have said anything I would have just griefed never said my name, so its quite obvious. 2. What will Linden Lab do, I honestly have no idea what they will do at this point, all I know is that I am really disappointed in these, or this merchant that has made such claims, I know that they do what is in the best interest to protect their friends, staff, and community, and what they do I respect, but I will not sit on my behind, and watch as they spread false rumors with no actual evidence and do nothing, as the TOS, and CS says disclosure of Logs, and names only applies in SL & SL service, so I guess that is a good start to prove that I am being accused in a court with no evidence sent out about me, which hey I would love to hear and see who and what is going on hey I would love to talk it over with whoever it is in peace and get to the bottom of it all, but doesn't look like that will happen. 3. I have asked that security in SL be improved to prevent such griefers from doing this type of stuff, I have asked that people be able to choose last names again, or make their own, this prevents confusion among the last name of resident, and hey if age verification were restricted to people who actually show ID, valid Creditcard required to make an account griefers wouldn't be using so many griefer accounts daily and get away with it, yes there are ways around it all, but if security is done properly we wouldn't have this many issues, and hey I have sent LL my concerns about all of this, and I have seen LL working on changes, but when I would really appriciate it if people would follow our dang TOS/CS, and hey I appricate, and respect peoples privacy in Private Im's where it be allowed to disclose outside SL & SL Forums, but the moment a person decides to grief me, threaten me, or harass me in any way I will do what I must to make sure it stops, and no I am not talking about anything that violates our TOS/CS, or harms our community in any way, but talking about friendly talks among people outside SL disclosure of such outside SL & SL forums, and a report to Linden Lab. As the TOS says they have the right to do what they want on their own land such as a ban list, eject from groups, and such, they do not have the right to send out false notices tehy can't back up with actual evidence, and they do not have the right to grief me and ask me to prove that I am innocent, and such, otherwise they have clearly said that unless I do that in other words they will remain sending out this false propaganda/rumors, and will not retract, or do anything about it. Honestly as much as I love free speech, respect a persons opinions, and hey I dont ban people over telling me to Frack myself, I clear my ban list 6-12 months usually, and I understand this is a virtual game, and there is no need for this type of stuff, let alone the harm it does to our communty down the road speaking as a whole in general when everyone is pointing fingers at everyone simply without reason should it be allowed to continue. I have not wrote this to upset anyone here, I have also removed any and all names from it, except for mine, and I am not asking for a flamming response either or rude comments, or posts, and creating a new account running like a coward, and hiding behind alt's, or other accounts isn't my type of game, I have friends on this account people ive known since I started SL really, I trust some of them, I can't leave that behind, and even if I could make a new account hide behind it all over again, chances are I could get the same thing down the road from a similar system, I would tell some of my friends and some how it would get around of who I am and there we go again, but either way I have purchased too many items over the years things I cant replace, things way before LL ever update to their new TOS. I hope to get some good answers, and I hope that really this is good enough to prove to them that I am not interested in bringing any type of harm to our community, or any creator, or developer in our communty. Hey I understand I get pissed off I rage it happens, and I understand that I can't AR, or do anything about a griefer until I see it, and as far as anything that goes on outside LL Service, I can't AR anything outside of their service no matter how bad I want to even if it is a violation of Copyright, nothing can be done by LL, and would have to be done by the copyright holder legally. Oh yeah and I am not in any way saying I dont like SL, I love it, I love the social community, and friends who will not backstab me, and hey I really like love and enjoy the content people create, I may not create much on this grid, but that doesn't make me guilty of anything because I rather play Battle Field 3, or League OF Legends, I create when I want simple stuff, I learn certain things when I can about creation, and most importantly I am not a graphics artist, I wish I was for many reasons some are personal, but that takes money and lots of it, and down here they dont teach that, not saying its not possible to learn either but creating textures from scratch, and Mesh, or 3D Sculpts not entirely my thing, Yes I am willing to learn when I can and such, and I love SL as I said but I do not like what some people can try to do to others on this grid, I don't like people who assoicate with griefers in any way I try to remove myself from all that I can to get away from this type of stuff, and I do not like people on my list who are going to assoicate with such either, hey I respect people as individuals, and some have a very kind heart it is true ive seen it, Ive cried over such because they were friends to me, but I couldn't be around it and it has came and gone a few times, but I guess life goes on sad or not. Thanks Everyone, and yes it is very late so I am getting off, and hope for the best.
  17. Hi sorry to hear about the issue, There is two ways to get around having the same IP address. There are a few bot detectors that work through media, Red Zone was one of them, as well as a few others which prevent people from being in two locations or more with the same IP addresses, and in my opinion such systems like Red Zone & CDS which scans people through media without consent need to be banned from use in SL unless it asks consent first at which point if you decline it has no right just to ninja scan people. However there are ways around IP detection through media even when you both have media enabled. 1. Use a VPN on one computer which changes your IP address as long as your connected through the VPN which means both Linden Lab, or the service you are accessing will not see you connecting through your original IP address buti t will show the server it is connected to, while griefers like to abuse such, there are legit purposes to do this to avoid detection of your RL Location, or to avoid an issue of such. 2. Buy two seperate Gateways one for each computer, possibly a DSL connection add with your primary connection this way you can both login with two seperate IP addresses without any issues. *Aka you call your ISP and get two seperate modems, or buy two services from two different internet providers.* 3. As far as being IP banned by LL if you run across a proxy server that is IP blocked by Linden Lab, just skip to another VPN server until you find one that works, I dont use VPN's all the time, but any time I go to a club, or a place I feel might be violating my privacy in SL until I know them I always enable and run through a VPN, of course if someone else uses the same IP address to do griefing, or abusing it can be mistaken by Linden Lab for example as me or someone else who is using such to be a griefer, but in that case I just call Linden Lab & file an appeal, although I have never had this occur to me, but again I rarely use a VPN when using SL only when I dont want my information exposed to third parties. 4. These Bot, or Copybot protectors that work through IP addresses do not work anyways as every Bot user, or Copybot out there knows how to disable media, they all use throw away accounts when they login anyways, and they only bring harm to innocent people like you for example have a legit reason and right for both you, and your family members to be accessing and playing SL unless LL says otherwise, but these type of anti bot systems some of them defame users, others collect IP addresses without consent, and Linden Lab needs to make a strict policy against such systems that do such because I have been hit by them myself too at times. These systems are not accurate in any way they never have been, and such systems are used at times just to point accusations and fingers at other people with no evidence at all, and for personal vendetta's which I hate, and will not support such abusers, or abusive systems in our grid. Here is a list of free web proxies, I am not sure if they work with media in SL though, because I use a full VPN which covers my entire PC when I use one, but it is built into every sl viewer a place for a proxy. http://hidemyass.com/proxy-list/
  18. Oh yes I always google my SL name because turns out some people were using my SL name without my consent on some blogs that wasn't me and they got banned from those boards. Funny thing is that I find people who have trolled/griefed posting anonymous posts about me, but most important of all I am famous myself for a lot of debates against people who support griefing/trolling. Besides I am sure that there is also a lot of chatlogs out there of peoples should you search their name it is a good way to find information, although some of it is false there are only certain games I register with my SL name on, and my posts always make the top boards best of all, and besides I have quite a few popular names I go by on the internet, so while my SL name may be famous in some ways such as Bnwcs, Bloodlines, etc, I have another username which is very popular over 100+ Posts on google as well across like over 20+ games its like madness. Besides funny thing is you find that some people disclose logs outside SL & SL Forums without your consent a lot of times, or start issues outside SL, or rumors, my latest rumor going around about me in SL is that I am a griefer, or a terrorist because I know my computer hardware, I know my Operating System to a certain point, and networking a bit not an expert but because of such anything goes wrong and im there im like the first person they blame without any type of proof, so when like a big debate or fight happens it goes down big times outside of SL, but all posts made by me contain the truth and nothing but that, and as far as disclosure without consent I wish people would follow the SL TOS/CS a lot more, but like many people don't so things always get disclosed outside SL without consent of other peoples and that gets listed on google too, but either way at least I am popular for usually most of the time making the right choices or what I feel is right, at least I am not the person who says they don't care about SL community as a whole, or the person who says that SL can burn in a war for all they care as some people only care about themselves, or their simulator, and have came straight out saying I don't care about griefers in a public sandbox, or Who cares about the rest of the grid they can burn, and that just isn't right, and I would never allow such people into my community who say such or show such. But hey what can I say this little kitty is always the bad little one for not being someone who is dumb about everything, what can I say honestly people have no idea how many times I get called a Hacker for being a Nerdy kitty it is just funny. And yep pretty much any popular forum site, or message boards are logged by search engines so anything posted with your SL name on it you can easily find it just by searching it.
  19. @OP First, Which viewer were you using, and why did the person kick you from the Region/Estate, or Land. This could be due to a number of reasons, some RP sims for example might not want people running third party viewers on them such as Phoenix, or Imprudence. Second, If a person did not kick you, then chances are you may be (Globally Banned by a system called) (CDS) Client Detection System, and this system basically uses a simple LSL method to obtain a few features about what viewer you are using through media more than likely if you ever enabled it, and if for any reason you get Flagged as a known Copybot, or griefer you are there for life, and good luck getting off that list of griefers. As for the general Viewer Wars, I have found that if you even talk about technology in SL, know a bit about scripting, or know about the Viewer Wars in general for any reason someone comes your way and griefs you they automatically accuse you of being a griefer, I have had this happen to me big times recently, and I have been griefed by some of these systems, my friends who used Emerald for example got banned mistaken for another griefer client they never had their names removed. Now the fact of people getting kicked off a region, or Land for being on a certain viewer is just really messed up like any open sourced viewer that is out there with its source code can be turned into a griefer viewer by someone who knows what they are doing, so if they kicked you for this reason without any evidence, well by all means they have the right to kick, or ban from their land without reason, but honestly in my opinion it isn't right. My policy on such is I honestly don't care what viewer a person is on, Just don't abuse it, Dont steal stuff, and it is up to Linden Lab to black list the viewer if it is one of those types of viewers, because honestly if any one person in SL were to run such a detection system such as CDS, it is actually just a line of text, and a simple LSL script that can obtain a persons viewer information, just like Red Zone in some ways, so detection through these systems, or use of these systems to detect alts, or ban people through massive ban networks I consider them a form of griefing and harassment, on top of that they can't back up their accusations on what viewer a person was really using, unless they admit to it, and of course information can easily be fake because someone dislikes someone this goes for any ban network system. While I understand that Theft is a problem, and there needs to be a solution to such I do not believe that this is that solution at first I did at one point for a very short time, but after finally looking at how the systems work, being abused myself by the system and people who control it, I know that these systems cant be trusted and do nothing other than create a public panic as it stops people from going to Clubs they once trusted because they don't want to turn on media, people who shop are often afraid to go to stores, and hey the problem is until LL removes such systems from SL even if very few use it it creates a panic to where people feel they are being stalked, harassed, defamed, griefed, or don't trust spending money in SL. I mean if you were a new user to SL, and could easily be griefed, harassed, or defamed by such systems, or groups of people would you honestly want to put your RL money into SL? I have seen Linden Lab make improvements in SL, and I am waiting for LL to make a policy against such ban network systems, as well as improvements to help prevent griefing, I am sure this is on their to do list, and myself I have very little problems dealing with griefers on my own, my only problem is defame ban networks, and people that believe griefers over myself, and then others who trust them so they believe what they say too, but I guess that is the bad thing about a social game right? I mean another true fact, and don't get me wrong, I have seen griefers with accounts way over 1.8k days old, and even some of them with payment information on file, so avatar age in SL doesn't always matter when it comes to the Viewer Wars, or Griefing.
  20. Its in the Internet Dictionary, I would also look up Rules of the Internet while your at it. http://www.urbandictionary.com/define.php?term=nimp.org
  21. Thanks a lot, and I agree RP is always supposed to be with consent, and of course sometimes in RP at times things are supposed to be done without consent, but only as long as it is with OOC consent and I understand that. Yeah Linden Lab rarely gets involved with any type of residentual disputes from what I see, and honestly after the the two weeks of harassing green messages I got from those two IM's none of them GM's were helpful with it really other than telling me to file an appeal on their site and two of them accusing me of griefing myself, and some other people, so yeah after finally having the chance to review everything myself yeah I think they absolutely have stepped out of the line of Normal RP rules, and I think that LL should make them remove the Instant Message part from their covenant, and act on this to make sure things like this don't happen to possibly other people. Personally I myself if I honestly didn't care about the CS, or TOS of SL would post every LOG & Detail as well as snapshots on this forum, but of course ya know gotta follow the community standards, however I am glad that these rules only apply within SL, because honestly I feel that everyone deserves to know about this and not have their privacy violated, or possible problems from this RP sim. Honestly I don't care about being banned from there anymore after reading their new covenant hell I don't even want to play there anymore, but hey I am sure that people I know, and myself are angry because of the statements they made on a private forum of theirs about me which can't be proven, and false rumors some GM's have spoken about me in SL, which can lead to even more drama espicially when it is as big as it is now. Anyways I just hope LL will act on this and make sure that at least this part of the covenant is removed from the RP sim, I notified them about I mean I can fully understand full moderation on their own Land, but outside I consider a breach of privacy unless they inform everyone before such, hell I never ever disclose a log really unless it is of a griefer, or something and when I do it is usually outside SL anyways. I mean I have RP throught SL for quite awhile usually between groups of people I know and have never had any problems really on this scale, and I have owned over a Sim's worth of Land before and rarely ever have any problems or get attacked by any griefers so usually no one for me to ban myself, and honestly I really don't have any lame rules to read other than Common Sense, and Consent like ya said if people do decide to RP, and of course the LL CS/TOS. Anyways, Thanks :3.
  22. Okay so I have had some problems in Second Life for awhile now with some Role Play sims in SL, and I can't disclose which ones due to TOS/CS, but this has me a bit concerned in some ways for our community as a whole as I had a bad experience from it. Okay so, some OOC Drama, or Im's took place between who I believed to be a loyal member of our group, this was in Im's which I consider private unless I am told so, or there is a big disclaimer which tells me otherwise, anyways this person got really upset, and this was well over 8 months ago now, and totally went off on me after talking to them and they took some stuff I said in Im's to be rude, they brought this drama into a RP Community, and even broke their own RP rules by banning my avatar from an entire region without listing the ban on their community site which is in their rules. I was told to appeal on their Forums twice, and I expected my appeal to be private between me, and the community instead my appeal got listed on the google search engine without my express consent, and because of this a griefer group, or who knows if this person who brought this matter into the RP community was involved or not but two weeks later they are griefing the Public Sandboxes in their name, passing out griefer items, and then finally I start to get Green Spam messages sent to me from their Estate/Simulator by multiple people, and then finally banned off the rest of the Estates with no way to fully abuse report or see what was going on other than this griefer was spamming me daily from their region with objects rude messages to myself & my email for almost a week maybe two straight, even the owner of the Estates failed to do anything, and after that I found myself pretty much banned from the rest of the Estate, got defamed on their forums by a RP moderator who in public on their forums pretty much that until we can prove you did not do any of this griefing we will not even investergate the issue pretty much which they never did and left the entire issue in my hands to deal with. Now here is the serious question here. http://secondlife.com/corporate/cs.php (The Second Life Community Standards.) *Their RP Rules in Covenant.* By virtue of being an owner or renter and/or entering & remaining in into the sims owned by *Censored*, *Censored* and affliated sims you agree to: • Provide access to *Censored* staff for the purposes of rule/covenant eforcement as well as agreeing to agree in advance for staff to investigate IMs and gather evidence. Privacy will be respected as much as possible by staff. • That *Censored* may use your character (Second Life avatar) name, repoduction, likeness, image, typed text, instant message (IM) text for purposes of but not limited to advertising, promotion, and rule/covenant/TOS enforcement without compensation or further permission. Greatest care for privacy will be maintained. My question here is simple. Are RP sims, or people allowed to Disclose Im's without consent, and go around the SL Community Standards for any reason just because a persons covenant says so, for example if a user who isn't even part of the RP sim, or community sends an IM to someone who is, they get mad or something, and disclose this IM to staff, or anyone without consent in the future, or something related to such to create problems for others where this be an Individual, or a group of people, I consider such a violation of the SL CS/TOS. * So question is if someone IM's a resident who is not currently Renting from them, or even on their Land, and something happens does that give them the right to disclose chat logs without notice to the person just because their covenant says such even if a person has never seen it, was not a member of their group at the time, or on their land at the time?* After reading their entire Covenant, I have found some of it to be in violation of the Second Life CS/TOS. While residents have the right to do what they please on their own Estate, or Land owned privately in Second Life such as Ban any person without notice, or reason, as well as write their own TOS, or cut off access to certain people, or service to certain people such as if it was a RP hud they were using, and restrict the person from using it because they created it and such like that I can fully understand. However I have found that after reading their covenant, that some of what they have in their TOS, breaches, and conflicts with LL Community Standards, while they have a right to manage, log, record anything that goes on in their own Estate,Land, or Region, they do not have the right to a persons private messages without informing them of such before hand, so for example if a person never read the covenant, and met a person outside their sim, and then Im's got disclosed without consent, the person was never warned, or such therefore it would be a vioaltion of the Second Life CS. All I can say is that I knew there were rules with RP in SL, but I am honestly really disappointed at some RP community groups in SL, and what I have experienced myself the IM disclosure thing being a big problem as that, and one persons personal attacks is what caused a lot of problems lately, and honestly I beleive myself that a persons covenant, should not go above the SL Community Standards unless everyone clearly states in a private IM, or even their profile with a big disclaimer everyone can see that we can use the chat, and disclose it to whom we please, and such, of course there is a lot more that went on, but to keep unnecessary drama out of this I will leave it at this as being the biggest problem I have experience hard myself in SL recently. Have I filed an abuse report on the people involved with the attacks on myself and others, yes I have and will continue to do such each time, the only thing I have not done is abuse reported the owner of this RP Community for having this in their covenant, which goes way outside of their jurisdiction in SL, and outside their Land. I hope to hear some answers on how such an issue can be dealt with in SL to insure that no one at all becomes a vicitim like I have to such without knowing, or unnecessary problems caused for them by certain people of the community I can't disclose here of course due to TOS/CS.
  23. Okay I have not checked this topic for awhile, but from what I understand this is how it currently is. 1. You sign up for a new SL account, the only thing LL collects is an IP address, no RL information no name, no Credit Card, and you can use any email you want including a fake email, or anyones email account because I already had the problem with a griefer using my email to get into SL on one of my email accounts luckily I didnt have any accounts register on that email account. 2. Currently you don't have to provide any type of ID To age verify all you have to do is login to your account, click age verify, and click you agree to the terms and are 18 or older thats all you are age verified. So I don't understand this still? In the future like are we going to have to verify by. 1. A real ID? 2. Payment Information? Currently anyone can Register as many accounts as they please, get them age verified and get into any adult simulator without showing ID, or even using a real email account, so I honestly don't know what is going on here. I called Linden Lab about this when I first hear about my friends who are teens possibly getting exposed to mature content here and who I spoke to was like Yes it has been changed. Anyone have any Idea about this I mean like I have had some serious griefing problems in SL with people greifing and make cosntant accounts posting my Profile picture, and profile information into their profiles and griefing people, as well as other simulators pretending to be me, I have filed abuse reports on it most of them got removed from SL but even still some of them show up in search with my SL name in their profile and profile picture being used without my consent yet they keep coming back on sleeper accounts that are over 800+ days old each time one gets removed. * It is seriously like Whack a Troll/Griefer* I have even been banned off some Parcels I have never been to because some griefer decided to grief in my name using *Display Names* and so I found myself having to send note cards out explaining the issue to the parcel owner about it which is kinda annoying. I mean I know that back in the day when it required people to be age verified to get into a adult simulator with actual ID it was a bit harder for griefers/trolls to easily get into adult simulators, and a lot of people I know were using Adult for this reason, but now that it has been like this for months there are hundreds if not thousands of Troll accounts already all age verified that do not need ID, and even if it only required payment information to be verified as an adult. For example for payment information I could register as many paypal accounts as I want, link them to disposable prepaid debt cards that allow use on the internet, but still even then it limits griefers/trolls on how many they can register but still gives them an upper hand. Any idea what LL's new plan is I would say going back to ID required would be best. Oh and yes I agree that AD LL had for premium really doesn't explain how it is to me but makes kitty so confused.
  24. Nope I am not a Troll, but it is a rather serious question as I logged into my account and it said this on it. Here is a snapshot of it. http://tinypic.com/r/ezil3c/7 Does this mean in the future we will have to pay a premium to get into Adult-only areas which is the main question of mine as most places I go are adult.
  25. Hi I got a question about premium features and Second Life. Okay so I was looking at the home page of SL today while logged into my account, and I notice that it said something about upgrading my account to a premium, and there is seriously something I dont understand. It says Go Premium Now and Get: . Your Private Virtual Home . Weekly Currency Rewards . Exclusive Virtual Gifts . Premium Only Sandboxes . Live Chat Support . Mainland Building Rights . Sign-up Bonus .Access to Adult-only areas** Okay so I understand all of this except there are some things which it doesnt explain to me, and isn't very good that Linden Lab doesn't really give many details to new customers either. So my question is this. 1. Does this mean that we will have to pay $9.95 every month or have a premium to access adult rated content in SL or adult areas? 2. Mainland building rights?? Does this mean that we wont be able to build in public free sandbox, or we wont be able to rez objects on friends land or anything just because we are not premium subscribers? 3. Or does this include the Linden Lab adult housing only areas? I just dont get it? Also it would be nice if Linden Lab add the following to our viewers or Viewer 2. 1. A drop down menu at the top of the screen with a location of all teh info hubs listed with PG/Mature/Adult. 2. Also a drop down menu with a list of premium & non premium sandbox for people. It would also be nice if. The details of the premium were changed to give details to its subscribers about how much currency rewards they get weekly, as well as well as details about housing & such.
