  1. Was bedeutet denn das Wort schlaendern?
Was fûr ein Blødsinn.....

I would wait a few minutes and it would do nothing so I tried to restart my computer and do it again but did the same thing. Then i uninstalled it and tried it again but nothing different. I have firestorm so I tried to use that and that viewer worked fine with me. I believe there is something wrong with the second life viewer. V2 viewers are not able to connect to SL anymore J.
  4. Professor Merryman wrote: I'm normal. At least I think I am. haha. Probably because you have to log in to JIRA to vote. I guess it's not so user friendly. But thanks so much for the reply. ;-) Yessir, that's true, you and LL ( and some other people like TPV developers) can see your Jiras, noone else can though. J.
  5. No chance to vote for your bug report, other normal residents cannot see it. J.
  6. Weird stuff, you can use whatever unreadble unicode crap in display names in world but 'normal' special characters from various non us alphabets are not working. Write english or die? J.
  7. I'd like to know why I can insert all kinds of special characters in postings (e.G. ð, þ, æ, ø, ث) but no german umlauts? This is idiotic and anti-german, LL
  8. Hallo.
  9. A GTX 220 is a four years old low end office gpu, you won't be statisfied with that card's performance. I'd go for at least a 5 or 6 as second digit in the nVidia series ( e.g. GTX 460, GTX 550 TI, GTX 650 TI etc...)). Forget about LL's minimum requirements, they are as outdated as windows vista. J.
  10. Uhm, you know that you can use local textures from your HDD now that don't even require any temp upload function? The only difference to the old temp textures is that only you can see them, others can't. Sometimes it's better to get informed about changes and new functions before starting a dramatical storm in a teacup J.
  11. Chrome monitors everything that goes upstream from your machine to the web and sends information about it to Google and the NSA, that's why this happens. J.
  12. What happened on your system lately? You say you cannot enable basic shaders and shadows anymore, so I presume, up to some point in the past you were able to enable both. Did you do a WIndows update that came with a new graphics driver? J.
  13. That one won't handle SL any better than the first one. Office machines, not suitable for demanding 3d programmes like SL.
  14. I also agree, it will not give you a enjoyable SL experience. You might get something much more appropriate when you don't go for a trendy overpriced Apple "lifestyle instead of performance" MAC Book "Pro" product and think about a desktop machine instead of something "mobile". J.
  15. Innula Zenovka wrote: No one here but us residents, like you. Lindens don't come here, and certainly don't answer questions. First, you can find the minimum and recommended specifications for accessing SL here: https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/?lang=en-US If your notebook doesn't meet those, you're out of luck. Second, SL is meant to be accessed via cable or DSL. You can access it by wireless, obviously, but it's not recommended. I am afraid when it comes to viewers, you really are out of luck. Because of changes to the way avatars are rendered (known as SSA), which is being rolled out at the moment, viewers that aren't updated to handle SSA just don't work. Other people won't rez properly for you, and you won't rez properly for them. If you are having difficulties with the latest Official Viewer (or other viewers, like Firestorm, that are based on the same code) you might try either Singularity or Cool VL, both of which will be a lot more familiar to you in look and feel and which apparently work better on older, lower spec machines than do many other viewers. Firstly: The SL system requirements are extremely outdated, the newest hardware mentioned there is from early 2009. Secondly: The Singularity viewer is not made to work better on older low spec machines, whoever spreads this myth is simply not telling the truth. J
  16. Maybe your low perf office on board shared memory graphics chip is burnt out already, or you have faulty memory banks so the chip cannot access sufficient of your system ram . Sometimes using ancient hardware on up to date software is a bad idea. J.
  17. Is there a way to win a formula 1 race with a 1989 yugo 45? Any advice is highly recommended.....
  18. Then you did not install the nvidia driver properly. Follow the instructions from the Mageia wiki I posted step by step J.
  19. So, lspci -k now shows nvidia as driver in use and not nouveau anymore? J
  20. So, it's a low perf nVidia GT 220office GPU running on the free nouveau driver. 01:00.0 VGA compatible controller: nVidia Corporation GT216 [GeForce GT 220] (rev a2) Subsystem: eVga.com. Corp. Device 1225 Kernel driver in use: nouveau That GPU shouldbe able to run Sl in low to mid graphics, but you need to use the proprietary nVidia driver. This mageia wiki article describes what to do to install and activate the proprietary nVidia driver: Graphics driver setup Mageia Good success, tell us how it went. J.
  21. Open a terminal and type lspci -k You'll get a lot of output in the terminal window from this command, including infos on GPU type and used driver J.

Thank you for testing! Please see README-linux.txt before reporting problems. [johnny@localhost SecondLife]$ The no kde-config message is just a warning that comes up on all non kde systems and has nothing to do with your problem. The error is a segmentation fault, which most probably is caused by a wrong driver for your GPU. What kind of graphics card do you use and which driver ( open source/proprietary?) J.
  23. You have been ofered a very good suggestion how to get what you want, but you're not willing to take it into consideration as it is "too technical" for you, very interresting point of view. Gimp/Photoshop are more complex than paint, so either learn it or leave it, life isn't always a bowl of cherries..... J.
