  1. Hello. The message libGL error: failed to load driver: r600 indicates that you re using the free driver for your graphics card. You should install the proprietary driver and try again. To install additional drivers, please run the "Software Sources" tool from "Menu->Preferences->Software Sources" and click on the "Additional Drivers" tab. After instaling the driver, restart your system. J.
  3. There are no plans to release an oficial 64 bit Linux viewer. So it's Singularity or Kokua for you, or Ubuntu 64 bit multiarch and a 32 bit viewer of your choice. J.
  5. Welcome to the wonderful world of debian multiarch. The debian people decided to switch their system to a new architecture called multiarch. This has broken the 32 bit compatibility for many applications completely. There are 3 possible solutions: 1. Use a 64 bit viewer. Singularity, Kokua and Teapot are available as native 64 bit builds 2. Try to find out which :386 libs are needed by your 32 bit application and install all of tthem manually. I tried this but thanks to the debian idiots, many of the approximately 80 packages that are necessary are not available as :386 version or will try to remove your graphics driver, your whole desktop or even the kernel. 3. Use a different operating system. I switched to Linux Mint after multiarch came in and made my system unuseable. Here, 32 bit compatibility still works, cause the mint people make a working system for users instead of making experimental major architecture changes that just make pakagers' and maintainers' lives easier. 6. Want a powerful GPU that handles SL well ? Get nVidia, they have working drivers..... J.
  7. RKT Zsun wrote: I jusr upgraded to Fedor 18 and can't the secondlife veiwer to run. I loaded the same 32bit files as before, still won't run. No viewer won't run. Also to you the question: Which graphics card are you using? J.
  8. What graphics card are you using? Looks like a missing or improperly installed/damaged 3d accellerated graphics driver. J.
  9. Check your RAM status and your Machine's temperatures, you might have a hardware and/or overheating problem somewhere. J.
  10. Take your one arm tattoo texture, put it on an undershirt template, upload it to SL and wear a one armed tattoo..... J.
  11. So, three possibilities: Stay on 12.04, go for 12.10 32 bit or get a better graphics card, as all these problems are caused by your Intel graphics chip driver J.
  12. I'd recommend to install the following packages as 32 bit viewers need some 32 bit graphics libraries. libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 This command, executed in a terminal will install them sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 You could try a 64 bit viewer though, which does not need 32 bit graphics libs J.
  13. Well, Second Life's technology has moved on too and integrated Intel graphics with shared memory still 'don't cut the mustard'. If something can run OpenGL, it does not necessarily mean that it will deliver statisfactory graphics speed and quality in Second Life, so don't texpect too much from the auxilliary Intel graphics chip on that mainboard that will even cut off some of your system ram due to using shared memory instead of having own physical memory like a real graphics card and invest some more money for a decent GPU. Go for nVidia rather than AMD/ATI, or you'll buy a lot of driver problems for the money you saved on not buying a nVidia card. J.
  14. So, if it's 64 bit, i'd recommend to install the following packages as 32 bit viewers need some 32 bit graphics libraries. libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 This command, executed in a terminal will install them sudo apt-get install libgl1-mesa-dri:i386 libgl1-mesa-glx:i386 You could try a 64 bit viewer though, which does not need 32 bit graphics libs J.
  15. So, what computer do you use? A laptop? A desktop? Looking at the i7 processor, it should be a quite powerful machine, but who would run an integratd intel 956 chip in combination with an i7 processor? You don't happen to have a laptop with nVidia optimus technology? J.
  16. Interresting messages. Looks like your viewer has been extracted from a corrupt archive. I'd propose to remove it completely by deleting this folder: /home/amethystwolf/firestorm/firestorm and also by removing this hidden folder: /home/amethystwolf/.firestorm Then, download the viewer of your choice again, unpack it and give it another try in the way I decribed in my previous post. Bon succèss Jeannie
  17. So, first it would be good to know which Version of Mint you're using, 11,12,13,14? Is it a 32 or 64 bit System? Then it would be good to know which viewer you're using. My rcommendation: Open a Terminal, then open the folder where you extracted your viewer to in the file manager. Next step: Drag the viewer startup script ( "viewername") from teh file manager window right into the middle of your terminal window ( yes, left click the "viewername" icon and drag it onto the terminal window using drag and drop). A line of text similar (not identical) to these examples should appear now in the terminal: Example 1 username@computername ~ $ '/path/to/viewer/SecondLife-i686-3.4.3.268139/secondlife' Example 2 username@computername ~ $ '/path/to/viewer//Phoenix_Firestorm-Release_i686_4.3.1.31155/firestorm' Then left click once into the terminal window and press enter after left clicking into the terminal. Make sure not to forget the left click onto the terminal window before hitting enter, this way the terminal window will stay open when the viewer ends up with an error and you can read the error messages. Now, paste the error messages from the terminal window here and we'll see how to fix this. J. Running various 32 and 64 bit viewers on my Mint 14 64 bit system
  20. Indeed, the so called 'standard' sizes are by no means an LL standard, they were created by some creators and, to be honest, they don't cover the needs of most users, you usually have to modify your shape (if it's mod) to make mesh clothes in 'standard' sizes' fit to the 5 'designer defined standard shapes', I have a 1.68 m tall not too curvy avatar, and I have found no 'standard' sized mesh that fits. As my shape has been made according to my RL looks as exact as possible, I am not willing to change the shape to make clothes fit. I wonder for whom the xxs and xs sizes are made, even when I turn down muscles and body fat to 0, they still don't fit and parts of my avatar stick through the clothes. The standard sizing is unrealistic and mostly unuseable. Unless the mesh parametric deformer will maybe work one day ( and requires reupload of all already exising mesh clothes by the way), I stay away from mesh clothes, regardless how beautiful they are crafted and textured. What doesn't fit can't be worn.... Jeannie
Jeannie
  22. I asked you to tell me advantages of flash..... J.
  23. Flash being Powerful enough to run the unreal engine is an advantage? Interresting. J.
  24. I'd suggest to install a real graphics card in that computer, preferably a nVidia one J.
