  1. I have no more interesting in "branding" Relm than I do in branding me. But I decided ages ago that certain aspects of Relm wouldn't change. Her shape doesn't change, except that I've made small tweaks to measurements here and there. She wears the same line of skins and has blond hair unless she's dyed it. She has elf ears. In short, she's always the same person. But her clothes change because otherwise...ew. Plus there's no way in heck I could be happy with the same outfit all the time. Even day to day. It depends on my mood, the "weather," whatever.
  2. If it were my house, well...if the security didn't get you, the hornets would. If my security were off and I weren't there, I'd have an issue with people being it, but odds are, I'd never know, so...
  3. My sales have gone up in general, but some of that is probably to be expected over the course of a year in operation. And possibly more people buying during the "school" year rather than the summer, as I understand there's a drop in the summer. The percentages have actually remained about the same, though, online versus in-world (about 42% SLM at last check and 30%-something at the main store).
  4. I just mute. Not the object, the person. I don't care. They're spamming. Call it a "subscribo" if you want. I never clicked anything, and half the time, I'm not even sure I've ever been to their store. Here's what I don't get...I get messages in my inbox that someone's offered me inventory, but there's nothing in-world. So I get the impression that muting doesn't stop the automated messages to my inbox? So I get spammed either way? Nice. I hope these people are proud. I'd certainly never buy anything from them. And groups that overdo it...how about a message from a horse-related group that sent the same message (an auction for a certain horse) SEVEN times in one day? "Bid now! 8 hours left!" "Bid now! 7 hours left!" The SAME AUCTION. So when I got in-world, I turned off group notices, muttering under my breath, "Learn how notices work, people. If you've sent it, people got it. You don't need to send a new one for every new person who might be coming online." Idiots.
  5. We had a good system, IMHO. Now we're going to get more and more garbage usernames. relm, relm1234, xxxrelmxxx, whatever. And display names be darned (can we say darned here?) because I don't have them turned on. I want to know who I'm dealing with. (Yes, I can find out, but I want it to be painfully obvious with no effort.)
  6. Ye gods, a separate subfolder for every item? Eww?
  7. Well, that's just great. The reviews are already borked, and now they're being borked further?
  8. Re-sizing scripts, for the most part, are evil, and I want nothing to do with them, even if they're deletable. My current hair is 92 prims. I get what I like. I don't think a few prims here and there matter, frankly.
  9. I agree. This would be a good option. Of course, I think step one would be to make the review system more obvious to people in the first place, as people can't change reviews they've not even left. I mean, we've been whining about that since the SLM opened, basically, and still nothing.

So.. restricting new registrants to a fixed number of posts per day for say.. the first week wouldn't be so bad. If they're legitimate posts, all's good and you get a gold star and more privileges. It it's bot spam.. not so much. I know plenty of message boards where your first handful of posts (never mind threads) are moderated until they decide you're OK. I suspect our spammer is practically doing it out of principle now, laughing the whole way. Posting to abuse and griefing must have caused their sides to hurt.
  11. The greater concern with media is with clubs that hide their use of RedZone and similar tools, I think. I do not "club." When I've done so, it was at Club Industry, just a few times.
  12. OK, first, am I the only one who has problems with the reply button taking me to the homepage the first time I click it? To my knowledge (key phrase, of course), I've had two written reviews. The negative one, which was from someone who didn't understand what he was buying, was e-mailed to me. That was back on XS. The positive one (on SLM), nothing. I happened to be discussing this item with someone and went and pulled it up and found I had a very positive, glowing review. It would have been nice if I'd been notified. By the same token, yes...someone could have a problem you could actually rectify, but how are you going to know if you don't know the review is there? Of course, I've gotten pretty darned used to the idea that there won't be any new reviews with the move now, as the few people who are inclined to review products don't even know how or that the option exists. How hard can this be to work in?
  13. The input of a perhaps smaller time merchant... The barest minimum amount of time I put in in a week is the time it takes me to update my sales records (so like half an hour). I don't have many customer support issues, not enough to take up any notable amount of time. I used to make several new items a week but am now generally focusing on seasons and holidays, so I sort of think of that every so often and start working on stuff. As I just build, not create, stuff doesn't tend to be time consuming. I'll get a basic build and then come back to it later to fine tune and finish. If I created, of course, it'd take a lot longer.
  14. The problem existed before the new maturity ratings--the old general/adult system was always there, of course, even on XS. I don't pretend to be an expert on relevance or sorting systems. Not even an amateur. All I know is that if I did a search for something on XS, I got meaningful results. Let me ask a question directed at the relevance/sorting gurus, though: Should terms without quotes default to what would be results for the quoted term? In other words, if I search for "bunny shoes," without quotes, should it default to giving me, well...shoes shaped like bunny rabbits, shoes with rabbit ears attached, whatever? And then after it's done with those, give me the rest (shoes and bunnies)? Because it's not doing that. I did a search for "medieval store" on the SLM (without quotes), and these are the results, in order (left to right and down): an outfit, a railing kit, a mansion (twice), cobblestone textures, castle wall parts, a house/store (!), some sort of real estate thing (three times), an outfit (different version of the first), and roof textures. Now, with quotes, I get actual medieval buildings. But to be blunt, I'm a lazy person and hardly ever use quotes unless I'm searching a potentially obscure term that I know the engine will louse up. Like recently, one that it kept defauting to a "corrected" spelling when that's not what I wanted, as it's a particular thing in D&D. And I assume I developed this laziness because most search engines treat the words as if they were meant to be together. Sorting is another issue, yes. Part of me just can't complain about the recent sales bump, as I suddenly get all these sales of something because one person bought it. But the tendency to put cheap junk at the top is a real problem that hurts the merchants and the customers.
  15. Recent sales is always part of it. In my "field," if I do a generic search, about half the items on page 1 have actually sold well, and the rest are there because they sold recently. They're all relevant, of course, because it's a niche market. As for relevance, it searches the item name, keywords, avatar name, store name, all sorts. So a search for "Bunny" will give you rabbits, bunny outfits, things made by Bunny Foxdale (if one exists), bunny slippers, Playboy bunny items, all sorts. Tragically, it's still a mess even when you break it down sometimes. Like my searches for medieval outfits used to give me useful results on XS and now gives me a lot of Victorian lingerie or something.
  16. Agreed, Scylla. What constitutes a "security system"? If a store owner just wants to use a security tool to make it easier to make long ban lists or do things remotely, that's fine. But anything that's invading privacy is bad indeed. So is anything that harasses visitors. I mean, the general idea with a business is that you want people to come to your parcel and stay, not make them want to leave or boot them for something they've not done.
  17. Does the breedables market need another ad group? Also...all caps? No punctuation? Also, I wonder whether anyone other than advertisers subscribes to those ad groups. I know my alt with breedables is in several groups, and I have to kill chat in them all the time, even more so when someone posts "." because I know it's going to be followed by a hellishly long ad with stupid symbols in it.
  18. I have a similar yet completely different issue. Apparently, if I have an error in my AO, everyone else sees it but me. o_O I assume I've muted something somewhere in my preferences. No help on this one, though, but it'd be for the creator to sort out, I suspect. Is it a ZHAO II? I've bought (or over the past several months, put together) several ZHAO II AOs and have never experienced anything like that.
  19. I don't know about Avimator, but Qavimator didn't work for me on a Mac. Apparently, it has to run on Rosetta, and it didn't. I don't know if I have Rosetta, but it doesn't seem like you can actually download it? So I got Poser.
  20. This is an old picture that doesn't show the workshop next to it or all the junk currently in the front yard.
  21. Rhonda Huntress wrote: Yes, and no and still pretty much the same. It all depends on where you are going. If some venue is trying to maintain a specific theme then they will still have rules to protect the atmosphere. No non-humans at a roaring 20's speakeasy, for example, is no more contrary than requiring formal attire at a ballroom. Walking around a wild west sim wearing your Boba Fett armor is obviously just harshing other people's dreams. So of course some people do things like that for just that reason; then they get bent out of shape because they were not allowed to stay and be a jerk. There are some popular music clubs that enforce a no furry rule; not even nekos are allowed. One of the most famous and popular jazz clubs is in this list. There are other, very popular and crowded ballrooms that don't care if you are a robot or a lion or a vampire as long as you are bipedal and wear a suit. Some places even require you to be nude! Although these spots are usually not the mainstream, but they are popular and well liked by their patrons; and those people do not want others forcing a conflicting roleplay on their area they have worked so hard to build. For the most part, shopping areas are neutral grounds, now. The necessity of commerce has proven greater than the need to be isolated. So in that regard there is less animosity between the cultures. On the other hand, you still can not roam gorean sims in your Starbucks cofffee cup avatar and expect to be welcomed. Agreed. You can't be anything anywhere, but it's not a judgement issue. It's just a question of whether it makes any sense. On the other hand, some public places that are open to everyone in theory still restrict gors or child avs. Or at least, with gors, the behavior (e.g., walking around on a leash). That'd be because some sim owners and their customers find that offensive or just distracting. And it's not like you need to be gor in a modern store, anyway, when it's intended for certain RP sims.
  22. "Treat"? I "treat" my avatar to new clothes, new jewelry, stuff like that. I'm not premium and never have been. I've never considered the premium offerings to be worth what I'd pay, frankly. I don't want a plot on the mainland. Of course, I buy lots of stuff and rent plenty of land--a homestead, 1/16 of a full region, and 1/4 of a homestead, plus market stalls and a house on an RP sim.
  23. I used to wear Calla but have switched to Truth. I currently wear Ana in champagne. Also, wow, that was pointless. I added the same photo that's in my badge.
  24. I prefer the old system, too, but it's too late to worry about it, now. I realize people can use display names to cover up the weirdness of the account name, but just FYI, around me, it means nothing. I keep display names turned off. Fortunately, I also don't give a flying prim what your name is and won't judge you for being called steve1234 any more than I'd judge you for being Steve Foxdale.
