  1. I've been on the search for a ladies' wristwatch for a while now, and I just can't find one I like. I'm looking for something silver, and fairly simple. I tried Bandit, and didn't care for the texturing. Any other ideas on ladies' watches?
  2. What are you wearing? Do you have a lot of scripted items, HUD's, and/or prims attached. Particularly jewelry tends to be prim heavy (so does long hair), but anything can contribute. Can you check your rendering cost? Also check your lag meter; it should tell you where the lag is coming from. (Both of these options are under the advanced menu.) Have you tried logging in to a different area?
  3. You may be able to find someone willing to do custom work for you. Ask around, maybe stick this in "wanted." The harder part to find would be the teeth, since some people like them and others don't. (Thus some people make them, and others don't.) Have you thought about using prim eyelashes instead of tattoo mascara/eyeliner? Similar effect, depending which lashes you go with, and you leave the tattoo layer free. Just make sure to get modifyable lashes, so you can adjust them to fit correctly.
  4. "The Little Mermaid" from Disney was my favorite movie as a kid. So, Ariel as the first name. The I just grabbed one of their generated last names that I thought sounded good, and away I went. I wanted my name to really be like a name, with no random numbers or excess characters, so it worked out well. I'm glad I joined in early 2009 and could still get a last name!
  5. This is a consistent issue with Firestorm. Which Firestorm are you using? The mesh beta has three different configurations. I use the Hybrid configuration, and here's how I fixed it there: All the icons are at the bottom of the screen - magnifying glass for search, suitcase for inventory, etc. There's an icon with a big AO on it, and next to that is an icon with the Firestorm/Phoenix logo. Click that. It's a shortcut window, and on or near the bottom of that window is a height adjustor. Slide the bar to the right until your feet are on/slightly above the ground. I'm no good with technical terms, so I don't know if this is the same as "Z-Modifier," but it works for me and has for everyone else I've talked to who has this problem with Firestorm. Don't know if other people see it; I haven't asked. I also don't know how to get to this any other way, just through that shortcut, but maybe somebody else will know.
  6. I agree with you about the mesh shoes. I bought a pair of knee-high mesh boots, though, and love them! Though they don't fit quite as well as I'd like, there is no awkward join between the foot and the calf sections of the boots; they're all in one piece, and move beautifully! And I've seen Slink's lovely thigh-high boots, and wow! So nice, much moreso than prim boots that have three or more pieces for each leg. Closer fitting, less bulky, and they move much better. I hope to see more! Corsets in mesh would be great! I love mesh skirts and dresses, because of the movement. But, I still have that same old problem with mesh that makes me hesitant to buy as much as I want, and that's that it still doesn't fit me right without shape adjustments. But, sure is pretty.
  7. I think somewhere in between would appeal more to me. The former is overly aggressive, the latter a little too...much, I guess. I can't think of the right word. Straightforward but non-aggressive would be nice. "Sorry, Ariel Vuissent, but this is a private area. Please leave within 10 seconds or you will be teleported home." Or something. A happy medium. Regardless, it probably won't change.
  8. So many lovely photos here! Mine is rather boring, I'm afraid, but here's a simple fall shot, in my new coat and boots sitting on a pile of leaves.
  9. If you'd like to hear a Linden's thoughts, you'd do better to submit a support ticket, or search for another way to contact them. The Lindens don't really peruse these forums looking for people who want to talk to them. Would you think it was fair if, in RL, you parked your car in front of a fire hydrant one time and were immediately arrested and sent to jail? Instead, you get a minor ticket - a "warning," arguably. Even LL has to differentiate in some way from "felony" and "misdemeanor" offenses.
  10. Oh, yes. U.S., Eastern Standard Time here, so a definite time difference! I was sleeping ;; SL has an extremely steep learning curve, so don't feel bad; took me a while to figure out how to walk, when I first started! I'll see if I can find you on search again; maybe it was just being stubborn. I'm assuming you're using the official viewer from Linden Labs? There should be a magnifying glass icon somewhere on either the bottom or side of your screen (I use a different viewer, so mine's on the bottom). Clicking that takes you to search, and then you just type into the "search" field and hit enter. If all else fails, just start poking buttons. If you mess something up, rest assured that someone else has done the same thing, and can fix it for you
  11. Pink Fuel is cute! I tried it, but unfortunately I just didn't like the look with my shape There's also the problem of not being able to easily wear my two favorite hairs with anything but LAQ skins, since they work only with a hairbase, match the LAQ hairbases perfectly, and the LAQ hairbases work best with their skintones... I still bought a new skin - LAQ's Tess2. So cute! A bit more "fresh-faced" than my other LAQ skin. Same tone, but there's a definite difference. I love it!
  12. Sexy Mamas, Due, and PS Expectations are pretty good. Lo*Momo is also very nice, though it's not technically a maternity brand. They have several high-waisted dresses that work very well wiht a pregnant belly
  13. Generally means they just haven't loaded yet. If you're in a very crowded or laggy area, it may take a while for people to fully load. If it's taking a ridiculously long time, like 30 minutes or more I'd say, it may be a graphics card issue. But in a crowded area, it may actually take that long, especially if the people around you are wearing a lot of prims or scripted items.
  14. BlakOpal. Free, and there are three options for women (plus one male option). I use "soft," and it looks great to me.
  15. Try doing a search for "hairbase" in the marketplace. I have two sets, and they work fairly well. They come different shades of different colors, help prevent that weird clipping effect that let people see your scalp when they're zoomed out too far, and soften the face a little with many hairstyles.
  16. Maitreya, Magika, Truth which you mentioned you already go to, Fri.day (I don't think they have many, but what they have is cute and high quality), LAQ (I don't like most of them, actually, but the hairbase hairs, though few, are gorgeous. The problem being that you have to either have one of their skins, or buy one of their hairbases to go with, and their hairbases match best with their skins...). Wasabi Pills also doesn't seem to have much, and a lot of it is cute or fantasy based, but it's nice and they do have tattoo layer hairbases with their hairs. At least the one I bought recently does... Others I've heard of, though never bought anything from, are Exile and Analog Dog.
  17. You may find you have to wait until you're a little older to get a dancing job. Most places I've seen want you to be at least 30 days. Also, most places don't pay you just for being there (although some of the good ones do), you get paid by the tips you recieve. You'll recieve more tips with good, sexy emotes and an attractive, quality avi. Try searching inworld for "dancer," "employment," "hiring," or other similar terms, or term combinations. Good luck! Contact me inworld if you want some help with your avi or helpt looking for jobs, or just to talk, whatever. I love to shop and meet new people
  18. My thought is part of it might be a shape issue? Did you try some of the other darker skins with different shapes? I know I have two skins by the same creator in the same (light) tone, and one makes me look somewhat older than the other, in my opinion. Same shape, same skintone, same creator, but a different overall effect.
  19. Unless you have the marketplace or an object called "magic box" muted, no, there's nothing that should be blocking deliveries. This is an EXTREMELY common problem with the marketplace, so rest assured, it's not just you. It's best to be inworld when making marketplace purchases, and to only buy a few items at a time rather than filling your cart with the full 10 allowed. Whenn possible (although you said you're have problems inworld) you might try getting the store SLURL from the marketplace and teleporting to the store, and purchasing the item there. The marketplace just doesn't deliver things, for some reason. As for the notecard, teleporting, and crashing problems, I have no idea. The notecard one was mentioned not that long ago, I think, but I can't remember the post right now. ETA: Here's a link to a thread about the notecard issue. The OP said the solution mentioned worked for her, so it might be worth a shot. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/Cannot-save-Notecard/m-p/1095367/highlight/true#M2171 ETA 2: Since Firestorm and the default viewer both use V2 code, you might try Phoenix or another TPV based on V1 code. Just to see if anything changes. Also, did you download the mesh-enabled version of Firestorm? If so, you may want to give the non-mesh enabled version a shot, since the Firestorm team typically cleans up after LL's messes, but has admitted that they didn't have time to do so with the mesh enabled Firestorm, so it's still rather buggy.
  20. If you're afraid it might be your limit, you can submit a ticket with LL asking them to raise your limit. If they haven't had a problem with your payment before, they shouldn't have a problem raising your limit for you. Just let them know how much you want it raised - a minimum. I did this when I first starting buying $L, and they raised it in less than 24 hours, by over $100 more than I requested. They may leave a bunch of other tickets waiting forever, but they seem to take requests like that seriously, at least, since it means you're spending more money!
  21. Welcome to SL! I'd be happy to help you around, if no one else has responded as of yet. Send me a message inworld; you can find me under "Ariel Vuissent" in search. I'll keep an eye on this thread, so let me know if you're not sure how to find me and I'll help. I tried to find you inworld, but couldn't. Is "WindsorGirl" your name inworld?
  22. These are actually from a fantastic creator, and since it had never happened before, I wasn't sure why it had. I understand now that it was the ankle lock script being disabled in a no script area. I may have to move them to attach to the lower leg instead, but in regular, script-enabled areas they work great. Thanks for all the help, everyone! Problem solved
  23. Well, apparently it either fixed itself after I tp'd, or it was related to me being in a no-script area. Thanks for the help! ETA: I checked the contents of the shoe, and there was something called "ankle lock" in there, so I'm guessing it was the no-script area that screwed it up. At least I know for next time!
  24. I think I've heard about this before, but I can't remember where or what the answers were. My shoes appear "detached" at the ankles. This only just started. The attachment point is the feet, always has been, but now the shoes don't seem to "move" with the rest of the leg. Here is a picture of what I mean. So far, I've only tried detaching the shoes and checking other pairs. Detaching didn't fix it, and the other pair I tried did the same thing. I use the new Firestorm mesh-enabled viewer, though I don't think it's a viewer problem. I will try Viewer 3 later. Any ideas? ETA: Oops. I was in a no-script area, which disabled the ankle lock script in the shoes. Problem solved! Thanks for answering, everyone!
  25. Broke out my boots and a long-sleeve dress, and some stockings for warmth as it gets colder. Mad Hatter's teaparty in Autumn, sitting on the table.
