  1. I don't usually go for strawberry blond hair, but I loved this look, so I snapped this pic on the 4th of July.
  2. I tried this when I first wanted to put money in SL. I even called LL before I got the card, and was told twice that it would be usable. Got it home, tried it out - and it didn't work. When I called back, I spoke to a different employee, who had to go speak to yet another employee, then told me that no, the card would not work. LL is extremely fussy about whose cards they'll accept, and what kind of card it has to be. I agree that you may have better luck through a third pary, rather than going directly through LL.
  3. Unstable people are scary, and you never know what they're going to do. Mute them if you can, report them if you want. Change your password and temporarily delete any payment info, just in case the site they sent you to was a phishing website of some kind. Ignore them, and try to move on from it.
  4. Change your password. Now. Disconnect any payment information you had on file. Just in case. You can report this person for harassment, if they are harassing you. If they are harassing your friend, have your friend report them. Harassment IS against LL ToS, so yes, these people can be banned for harassment, but since you're not being harrassed and sharing personal IM's is also against ToS, the only thing you could report would be he-said, she-said. Again, have your friend report these people for abuse. You can report try to report the person you spoke to today, if you can find a category that fits, as well as anyone else who has done something to or shared something with you personally.
  5. I am ridiculously not-shy in SL...I figure as long as my curtains are closed, I've done my duty to my neighbors to hide my nudity and any potential activities in my home If they choose to cam through that and watch, that's their problem. Good to know about that setting, though, so people can't see me if I'm at home and they're not on the property If I had a skybox, I would greatly enjoy turning off "fly" and watching the noobs plummet....
  6. Before submitting a ticket to LL, you'd have to figure out if this still happens on the official viewer. LL won't help with TPV's, so since you both use Firestorm/Phoenix, if they responded at all the first thing they'd do is likely to check with the official one. Other than that, I can't help This happens to me occasionally, as well, but since I don't have any major SL priorities/obligations, it's not such a big deal for me. Good luck, though
  7. You might also want to look into a few building/clothing creation tutorials. That's how everyone started, really - trial and error, and tutorials from other people. Look into creating textures, specifically for clothing. Check out sculpting clothing and flexies. Whatever seems relevant, and don't be afraid to follow links from one tutorial to the next. As has already been said, many quality creators already have their own successful stores, selling their own designs. They don't want or need to go into business with someone else. You may find an up-and-comer somewhere who would be willing to help, but it's a toss-up on how good their skills might be. You can also sell early creations on the marketplace, if you want to give creating a try. Start simple, and sell cheap. Practice makes perfect, but no one's going to pay a bunch of $L for a first creation lingerie set unless you turn out to be an SL creating prodigy Good luck!
  8. As time goes on, I can see mesh becoming a special sort of "niche," perhaps. Maybe a few people will create some good mesh hangouts (I believe there might be one or two started already?), where those who use mesh can go and be in the company other others who use mesh, without worrying that half the people there see them naked. Those who wander in without mesh would be the minority, so those using mesh wouldn't have to change or be reported. Could be interesting. We'll see, I suppose. I'm still on the mesh fence For now, I've found some great mesh dresses, and I'll wear them when I want, but I haven't found a mesh top that I like yet.
  9. The butterfly tattoo in your pic is lovely! Well, the whole thing is, really, but I love the tat! lol And the top is quite nice, too; very interesting, great to wear with a chest/back tattoo, it seems. May I ask where you found it? Edited because I can't type.
  10. It would be nice if people would be intelligent enough to realize that the person around "half naked" with a "donut" attached to his/her body is, in fact, wearing mesh clothing. They're not actually half, naked; they just appear that way to anyone not on a mesh viewer. Since many people can't realize this, you get a lot of idiots banning or AR'ing people who do wear mesh. It's the sad truth. The other side of this issue might look something like this: "It would be great if LL would fix the code so mesh would work on all viewers, or disable mesh altogether so that I don't have to see weird-looking, half-naked people walking around PG sims. My computer can't run a new, mesh-enabled viewer, but I love this game. It sure does suck that I can't see the great new clothes and have to deal with half-naked people because I can't afford an upgrade." I do wish more people could see mesh clothing, since I've come across a few dresses that I love, but feel weird walking around wearing them knowing that half or more of the people I'm around see me partially naked and wearing a donut, and strangely deformed to boot! But it is what it is. I wonder - what happens if you wear something, like a T-shirt or a bra and panties, under a mesh outfit? Obviously the alpha layer and mesh outfit would cover it to anyone who can see mesh - but would it help mesh users not to appear half dressed to those users who can't?
  11. Something like this is what I was trying to suggest I'm sure this will (hopefully) be helpful to many clothing creators, and help many of us who like to shop be able to fit into mesh clothing better with what we have now.
  12. To be frank, once this thread was posted I had the right, as does anyone else, to post whatever I wanted about mesh clothing, as relates to the topic at hand. I gave my opinion, and whether or not you "want to see it" is your business, not mine. However, the point of many such opinions is that setting three, or more, or less, "standard sizes" of mesh clothing still won't work very well for the majority of users on SL. Even if creators all choose to stick to the same basic values size-wise, those sizes won't work for the people buying the clothing. I don't know anyone on SL who would be willing to change their shape to a "standard" shape in order to fit into clothing, when there are so many non-mesh clothing items to choose from. And since so many people create their own shape, you can't even go to popular shape creators and see what the most common or average values are. You can provide a notecard listing the values of the shapes for which you created your mesh clothing, but don't expect a lot of people to spend a lot of lindens to buy something they have to adjust themselves to fit. Your best bet, I think, is to wander around SL looking at shapes. Get familiar with how the numbers on each slider correlate to the actual appearance of the body part it references; then see what seems about average to you. Do most women seem to have busts that hover around 60-ish? Love handles around 30, maybe? Bottoms at 50? Or create a poll, and see if you can find a way to get people to take it. I don't have my own values on hand right now, or I'd share them. If you currently have a shop, you could try something like entering visitors in a raffle for answering a survey. Or offering a free gift for those who respond. From there, creators can get together and share these values with other creators and see if an average, or a few averages - large, medium, and small, or something like that - and advertise those to still other creators, to try to help them fit as many people as possible into their mesh creations. These are my thoughts. I have as much a right to mine as you have to yours. I hope you find this helpful, but if you don't, that's fine too. I have voiced my opinions.
  13. Personally, I use an Xcite! Appearance-wise they're the best I've seen, but they do tend to go crazy with the chat spam. Lately I use mine on roleplay mode - no sounds, no arousal, no chat spam. Unfortunately, if that's all you use it for, it's an awful lot to pay as opposed to using all of its functions. What do you like? Do you roleplay using a lot of emotes, or do you prefer some scripted help? Do you like using toys? Xcite! has great toys, and you can mitigate the chat spam, so if that's what you like, it's a good value. But there are others out there that I'm sure are also good, so go with what you like. Shop around, read reviews, stand in the middle of a popular sex spot and observe
  14. Strangely? Hocus Pocus. I know it's a comedy, but that first 5-10 minutes completely freaked me out. I still can't watch it.
  15. I'll cross my fingers! This is my biggest issue with mesh - I don't like having to adjust my shape in order to not look like I'm wearing clothes out of my mother's closet!
  16. I love the way they look and the way they move. I hate the way they fit. I don't want to have to adjust my avatar to wear mesh clothing, so it's a little disappointing in that respect. Overall, I'll wear them if I find something I really like, but I have to really like it in order to spend $L on it. I don't like how rigid mesh hair is, so overall I'll most still wear prim and system clothing, with the occasional mesh or part mesh outfit. But I do love to see what people have come out with for mesh!
  17. Look in your inventory. Anything with a little box beside it is comprised of prims. Some are only one; most are multiple prims links together, like hair, for example. And as has been said, only prims rezzed on the property count against you. Otherwise it's likely that even you wouldn't be able to get onto your property some days. A private wedding isn't really commercial, even if you accept $L gifts. If you host a wedding every day, it would be commercial, but just a one-time celebration should be fine.
  18. One of the major reason people - myself included - don't want to use mesh clothing is just this. I don't want to have to be a standard shape to wear clothes. I'd rather stick with prim and system clothes, that adjust to fit me or that I can modify to fit. It's a good idea to include the slider values for each shape with the clothing, on a notecard or something. I'm guessing you do this now? If not, it might be a good thing to start, so that people know what sizes they need to be in order to wear your prim clothing and have it look right. For myself, I'll probably stick to my own shape and prim and system clothing. It has to be pretty fantastic for me to get something mesh, for now.
  19. These threads are always fun! And I actually have a picture for this one. The "then" isn't from when I first joined - I'd fumbled with the shape sliders, notably in the face and chest. Pretty much everything she's wearing was given to me, as freebies, from someone playing "help the noob," which I very much appreciated - in fact, still do appreciate! I was never very happy with her, so once I finally put some money into SL, I fixed her up to something I was happy with. The most notable differences, to me - hooker make-up is not necessary to be sexy; the breast size slider doesn't have to be at 100; nobody likes T-rex arms (mine are a tad longer now than they are in my "now" picture); and of course, better hair and clothes do make a difference, although as freebies go, the dress in the "then" picture isn't half bad, in my opinion. This picture made me realize I'm a little taller than I'd like to be...guess I'll get around to editing that at some point.
  20. I ended up thankful I chose a name I could live with, and that I signed up when we could still have first and last names. I don't even have a display name, generally. Personally, I prefer to see the user name, since so many of my friends like to change their display names from time to time. It helps me keep track when I can see both. I may at some point turn display names off altogether. Your best bet for people getting your name right is to choose a display name that's close to your user name, such as Elle. If I were to see you in chat with the display name "Elle" and the username "ellerc," they're close enough that I would call you Elle. As opposed to people who have display names like "Marc's Hunny," whom I always call by their username, because calling someone "Marc's Hunny" just doesn't seem quite right to me. I've noticed that generally your preferences only affect what you see, not what anyone else sees when they look at you. So disabling usernames on your screen so that you don't see it in the bubble over your head doesn't mean that other people don't see it; they'd have to disable usernames in their preferences. I think.
  21. You can buy gestures that do that sort of thing; I've always been a bit too lazy to pop around on SL listening to samples. If all else fails, go to a club and stand around until someone uses a gesture you like, then IM them and ask where they got it
  22. Generally you can still use a debit card as a credit card. It'll take the money out of your checking account (or put it in, as you want to do). The main difference I've noticed is that credit transactions take longer to come out of your account than debit transactions, which come out immediately. PayPal wise, I don't know. Hopefully someone else will pop on with more advice about that.
  23. I don't use them, myself, but I know what you're talking about. Unfortunately, since I don't use them, I don't know where to get them, either. Hopefully someone else will have some advice on this.
  24. You can buy a prefab (premade) house inworld or on the marketplace, then rez it on whatever land you ultimately rent and you're all set. Many even come fully furnished, though for most you can take the furniture back into your inventory and refurnish, if that's what you want. If you go premium and get a Linden home, you'll get the house already built and ready on your land the way you want. You'll also get an additional 117 prims (so your boat would have to be at or under that amount in order to rez it on your land. The fewer prims the boat is, the more you'll have for other things.) Keep an eye on prims when you're boat shopping, especially if you go for premium. I'm not sure if you'll have the option of a beach or lake house with premium, but I'm sure you can look it up.
  25. If ban line are what I'm thinking of, they should help immensely - no one will be able to get in who's not on the access list, they'll just be pushed to a neighboring, unsecured parcel. However, ban lines tend to be unsightly - again, if they are what I think they are. I'm not sure if there's a way to get the same effect while hiding the actual lines themselves. Even if the hunt organizer sends out a notice about the location change to everyone in the hunt group and changes the landmark in every way, there will still be people who don't get the update, and continue to show up. Ban lines are the only way I know of to keep people off of the property all together. Then again, I don't have much experience with that sort of thing, so maybe someone else has a better idea?
