  1. Ok, what if I put a sign next to the box saying "Cookies inside". If there are no cookies inside the buyer will feel cheated, but that's false advertising and not a TOS violations as far as I can tell. LL typically doesn't get involved in resident vs resident disputes. And what if I rez 10 of such boxes and the sign is saying "Cookies inside of one of these boxes"...
  2. @Patch Linden I rez a box on my land. It has other objects inside (and those can have other objects inside etc etc). To an outsider the content of the box is unknown. I set it for sale as an original and leave it on my land. Anyone who walks by can buy it and take it to their inventory. Is this going to be a TOS violation starting next month?
  3. @Patch Linden I would like to see an official statement about what combination of randomness and permissions is allowed under the new rules. Let's say you have a SL game where you can acquire crafting materials (which are no-copy/trans) by playing the game or by trading with other players (including buying the materials for $L). You can then take those materials to a crafting station where you can combine them to acquire a new item. Which of these combinations is allowed and which is not: assuming all input materials are no-copy/trans a) you put in material 1, material 2, material 3 => you get an random choice of item that is no-copy/trans b) you put in material 1, material 2, material 3 => you get an random choice of item that is copy/no-trans c) you put in material 1, material 2, material 3 => you always get the same item in a deterministic way based on inputs. e.g. mat1 + mat2 + mat3 = item1. mat2 + mat3 + mat4 = item2, etc. resulting item is no-copy/trans d) you put in material 1, material 2, material 3 => you always get the same item in a deterministic way based on inputs. e.g. mat1 + mat2 + mat3 = item1. mat2 + mat3 + mat4 = item2, etc. resulting item is copy/no-trans Thank you.
  4. Check if you haven't disabled sending the "look at target" - if that's disabled your avatar (or anyone else) has no way to know what you're looking at and animate the head/eyes to match it.
  5. I got curious so I tested uploading a simple mesh in FS with havok hulls, itself as the physics shape and then uploading it from CoolVL with its hull decomposition. The wall is thinner than 0.5m so this produces the infamous "why can't I get through the door" problem with non-analyzed physics shapes. I'm happy to report that the hulls produced by CoolVL work just as well as havok hulls in this case and my "door" was working properly. Good jorb Henri!
  6. The only thing viewers without havok can't do is to use the decomposition of physics shapes into havok specific hulls. You can still supply your own physics shape and upload meshes fine. This may or may not be a drawback based on what you're uploading, but "does not include ability to upload meshes" is nonsense.
  7. The dates in the land description change when the parcel is subdivided, i.e. when a chunk goes to land auction or someone requests it via a ticket.
  8. Make them smaller. Beyond about 45m object radius you get no LI reducing benefit from medium/low/lowest LOD levels so it's all about how much geometry you have in the highest LOD.
  9. "Revenue from purchases is split between the developer and the Roblox Corporation 30-70, in favor of Roblox Corp." Why exactly would any (SL) content creator want to do business in Roblox? That split makes even Apple/Google/Steam look generous.
  10. Hasn't the very recent Firestorm improved that? The release notes say "Texture previews opened from inventory will now load much faster" which implies some changes to the texture loading prioritization. Maybe @Beq Janus can tell us.
  11. I'm inclined to believe it was there from the beginning? The tradition of putting 1024 textures on doorknobs is as old as I can remember.
  12. The only time I've managed to click "through" something was when the something was 100% alpha in the point of the touch (which rather defeats the porpoise of visible glass cover). Why should phantom setting/physics shape have any effect on this? The script that reacts to the touch is on the server but it's the viewer figuring out which object/face you're touching.
  13. Last Christmas I gave you my lag... (no I don't care that y'all are now stuck with that song in your head)
  14. Is it even correct to call such people "creator"? More like destroyer
  15. So the situation where a very busy region can impact the performance of other regions running on the same server is still happening in AWS? Any plans to move each region to its own AWS instance?
  16. @Egon Takeda @NicoleCreates you can buy them directly from LL see this thread
  17. a 768x1024px texture will upload as 512x1024px to SL
  18. In the wastelands (search for "The Wastelands" region) we have plenty of desert. Too much maybe... the sand really gets everywhere. (I'm a resident, feel free to IM me with questions).
  19. I'm not seeing this. I made a subdivided plane (with enough geometry so that the lod generator can do some decimating) with 8 different materials in Blender and the lowest the reducer goes to is 8 triangles. Using the latest Firestorm.
  20. Why does disabling the water rendering change the skies as well? Water is rendered even when you're up 3000m in the air and can't see it so it used to be a performance optimization to turn off water rendering in skyboxes. But now with EEP it messes up the lighting completely in most cases.
  21. You can control the camera using a script. This way you can set it up at a precise angle/direction etc and have it be locked while the av is moving. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlSetCameraParams
  22. Try to compare it with avatar rendering turned off, maybe you are your own source of lag. I'm getting about 60 fps in the same place with similar settings on a 1080 gfx card (and avatar rendering disabled).
  23. Yeah I've actually started using your viewer to set up EEPs now since it has normal sliders (AND numerical inputs) for the sun/moon positioning instead of the demented trackballs. Good jorb!
