  1. Hanging out in the Welcome Hub regions is definitely a thing to do when you're bored. I'd like LL to add a surfing and sailing region next to the sandbox one, because surfing 🌊 πŸ„β€β™‚οΈ in SL is really fun.
  2. I avoid drama by being polite and generally minding my own business, no matter which avatar I'm using. I don't seek it out by pretending to be someone else with friends or enemies. If I'm on as Tasha or my guy alt, I purposely have hardly any friends, because I don't want to be bothered by them. Alycia shares some of the friends I'm closest with and they know she's my in-character alt. I prefer to not talk about my real life when I'm in SL as Alycia, but most of my friends still address me as my RL self when I'm her. I try to steer them away from doing that by having Alycia talk about Persephone in the third person. Each of my female avatars has her own personality, interests, style and color preferences for clothing. My guy alt doesn't really have a personality or interests, because I just don't have that much of my consciousness that I can project as masculine. I think it's easier for me to project being a wolf-dog than it is for me to project being male. πŸ˜„
  3. I admit I don't hang out in other online forums anymore, but I think SL forumites must be some of the most charmingly weird group of people.
  4. I don't know, but you can try the demos, and I believe one of the forum members uses that combination. As Rowen said, though, Piggu is not well supported for clothing. On the other hand, I don't think there is any male fatter body that is. A female avatar has a few choices for a heavier mesh body, but I think the best you can get for a well-supported male body is probably a slightly overweight "Dad-bod" with Belleza Jake.
  5. Good Luck and a heads up. People asking for participants for their thesis work on the forums usually get alot of flack here. Also, very few SL users actually use these forums, so it's wise to consider other inworld options for recruiting participants.
  6. Akeruka has a good chubby male head that is EvoX compatible.
  7. Even when the new Victorian Homes are completed and available, the total number won't be that large. If there are a few hundred available for any theme, I think this may be a comfortable amount for Linden Lab. Rather than reworking existing regions to retrofit them for 2048m parcels, I think LL might want to create a new 2048m theme - *after* they release those Victorians and the new Stilt Homes. Right now people who had multiple alts in 1024 m theme homes, have likely given up some of those to get a 2048 m home instead. This is good for Linden Lab, since one Premium Plus account gives them more money than 2 Premium accounts. It remains to be seen at what point 2048 m regions would have a few hundred empty houses, but I'm sure LL doesn't want to get stuck with thousands of empty 2048 m parcels, like they have now with the old Linden Homes, the Log Homes, the Chalets, and Fantassaria. I think they're going to be very careful moving forward not to over-build.
  8. 😳 This is where a Mole might suggest talking this conversation to private messages. That doesn't make it better, but it prevents the thread from bring locked.
  9. I'm just gonna say it before the lock. Not wanting child avatars around does not mean someone is a pervert. It just makes them a grouchy old meany.
  10. Yeah, then we can ban animal, furry, and vampire avatars too. πŸ™„
  11. This belief was common in Medieval Europe, along with the belief that witches kept them in a box in their homes. It was once explained to me that the actual fear was that witches could make men unable to perform sexually.
  12. I usually go around with my mesh body and head HUDs on (and only those HUDs). I get irritated when I put on a clothing unpacking or retexturing HUD knocks those off, so I've saved them to my Favorite Wearables tab too. I still forget they're in there though. πŸ˜†
  13. It's true though that Linden Lab doesn't ban things unless it's legally or financially expedient for them to do so. If there hadn't been a RL concern with child avatars engaging in simulated sex, they probably wouldn't have banned it.
  14. Once upon a time we called Moderate regions PG. Apparently this was confusing to people who don't use the US system for rating the maturity level of movies, so Linden Lab changed the region ratings to General, Moderate, and Adult. I've always considered Moderate to be like most places in RL, so it shouldn't be difficult to figure out what's appropriate in them. Unless you're in a strip club, at a nudist beach, or at a ritual that allows "sky-clad" participants, avatars should be dressed in public. Also, what one can do in private is different from what one can do in public, and what one should wear at a store is generally different from what one might wear at a BDSM club. Common sense and following the rules of the place should generally be sufficient to understand what is appropriate to wear or do there. General fits what would be appropriate at most work places, in church, in front of one's grandparents, or in front of children. No public nudity or sexual anything. Adult might be pretty much "anything goes", essentially the same as Moderate, or anything in between, depending on the rules and expectations of the place. According to the SL TOS, public nudity and sex are fine in Adult regions, but a region or parcel owner is free to set their own rules with stricter limitations.
  15. Items with a shirt, pants, or similar icons are system layer clothing that would be essentially "painted onto" a system avatar. You can wear these on a mesh avatar if it has Bakes on Mesh (BOM) enabled. This option bakes textures onto your mesh avatar's skin, just as they would be baked onto a system avatar's skin. For the Maitreya mesh bodies (and most mesh bodies and heads), this option can be enabled on one of the tabs on the HUD for the body. Look for a button that says [BOM] and click that. System layers that work with BOM include skin (person icon), tattoos (dragon icon), Universal tattoo layer (used for EvoX ears), undershirt, underpants, shirt (πŸ‘•), pants (πŸ‘–), jacket, skirt, socks, gloves, and alpha layers (invisible parts). As would be normal in real life, skin would go on the lowest layer, then tattoos or makeup, then underwear, then shirts and pants, then jackets. We can wear multiples of these layers by Adding them, instead of Wearing them. If you can't see any of these on your mesh body, you probably need to enable BOM with your HUD. Mesh clothing and mesh bodies, on the other hand, will have a box icon, because these are considered objects that are worn on our avatars.
  16. Now 3. Ranch (2048) - 10 available 4. Mediterranean (2038) - 102 available 5. Victorian (1024) - 167 available 6. Sakura (1024) - 280 available 7. Stilt Home on Land - 324 available 8. Houseboat (1024) - 351 available? 9. Newbrook (1024) - 398 available 10. Traditional (1024) - 421 available Note: * The # of available Houseboats listed is probably incorrect. This looks like the land impact value instead.
  17. It would be interesting if we could choose how to sort the houses on the Linden Homes page. I'm not surprised that Premium Plus homes show at the top. After all, these are the most profitable for Linden Lab. It's also sensible to put styles that are not available at the end, after the old style Linden Homes. Just for fun though, this is how the styles would be listed currently if we could sort by the least available (most popular?) houses first. 1. Stilt Home on Water - 0 available 2. Stilt Home on Pier - 0 available 3. Ranch (2048) - 12 available 4. Mediterranean (2048) - 105 available 5. Victorian (1024) - 168 available 6. Sakura (1024) - 279 available 7. Stilt Home on Land - 324 available 8. Newbrook (1024) - 398 available 9. Traditional (1024) - 421 available 10. Houseboat (1024) - 447 available 11. Sakura (512) - 479 available 12. Camper (512) - 535 available 13. Aspen (512) - 684 available 14. Wizard's Retreat (512) - 738 available 15. Newbrook (512) - 771 available 14. Birch (512) - 867 available 15. Cypress (512) - 871 available 16. Shire's Hearth (512) - 910 available 17. Elven Treehome (512) - 913 available 18. Abbot's Haven (512) - 929 available 19. Willow (512) - 971 available 20. Maple (512) - 1041 available That's just the first 20 least available styles. The old-style Japanese homes are each in the 1000+ range. Log Homes, Fantasseria, and the Chalets are each in the 2000+ range. Of course, if one were to add all the available old-style Tahoe (A frame) homes together, there would be about 5000 available. If one were to add together all the old-style Elderglen (fantasy) homes, there would be about 2900 available. There are thus more available homes in each of the old Linden Home styles than there are in the Log Homes, Fantasseria or Chalet styles. I hope the Moles release those new Stilt Homes on Water and Piers soon. Even though they're not as profitable for Linden Lab as the 2048 m homes are, people have been waiting for them for a while now.
  18. Who is more valuable as a customer to Linden Lab, the old-timer Premium account user on a computer that's 5 years old or the newbie who usually uses their phone for social media and their newer computer to play regular video games? Who is going to spend the most money on this platform? I think IMVU users would stick here and spend money, but I'm not so sure a Fortnite or FPS player would.
  19. But they contribute to the forum game of guessing who are everyone's alts.
