  1. I hate to respond to my own previous 5 letters, but let's try to keep a spooky theme going for Halloween. Bats really are into night LIVES.
  2. Maybe for Christmas LL will give us new Senra avatars and more 2048 m homes? 🎁 🎄
  3. I do not decorate for seasons or holidays in SL anymore, but when I rented out parcels on a quarter region I did. Once I had a party with gifts under my tree. I put down boxed gifts with transferable items, then let everyone take one. Happy Hippo & some other places had gift exchanges too, where creators could put down items for other group members. Maybe we're jaded with all the gifts we get now, but silly gifts can be fun in a group.
  4. Peeve: People complain about homeless people being near stores or libraries in reviews, yet no one says anything about folks pushing their religion in front of stores or libraries.
  5. Peeve: Posters who ask for help (especially in the Answers section) and are then rude to the people who respond to their post.
  6. I went in a similar direction to what you did. I sort some items by style - Ancient World, Medieval, Asian, Futuristic - in case I want to furnish an apartment in a RP sim. I sort most furniture by room type - Bedroom, Bathroom, Kitchen, Livingroom, Library / Office. Kitchen includes a subfolder for Decor Food. Then I have Decor, which includes subfolders for Pictures & Wall Hangings, Indoor Plants. I have one folder for Indoor Lighting, which has subfolders for Lamps and Candles. I have one folder for Electronics, which includes subfolders for TVs and Radios. Outdoor Furniture is its own folder too.
  7. @Marianne Little, You accidentally linked the to shape for Jamie at alaskamento. Here's the skin, which is $L 50 and looks lovely. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/alaskametro3-Jean-skin-NUX-Senra-JamieSLUV-Tone-3-Bakes-on-meshBOM/25098179 The OP may not want to spend any time or money on trying to make the Jamie avatar look good, as you said. It's hard to direct our responses better without feedback.
  8. Here's the official Starter Avatar video from Linden Lab. The info for those who already have an account starts around 4 minutes in.
  9. I agree with Chic. Start with the Senra Jamie mesh avatar in the Library of your Inventory. Find the folder labeled Jamie. Copy and Paste it into your Body folder. It has skin, shapes, hair, and mesh clothes. You can also get more colors of those clothes free at the Welcome Hub. Get comfortable using Jamie. Try your existing skins, shapes, hair and clothes with that mesh body. Copy and modify different shapes with it. Once you get used to that, try some other free and Demo mesh bodies and heads. Maitreya Lara is the most commonly used female mesh body, so it has the most skin and mesh clothing made for it. The LucyBody Atenea is basically free, and it works with Maitreya skin and mesh clothes, so I recommend getting that one before buying a mesh body. The most popular mesh heads are from the Lelutka EvoX line, but several other creators make EvoX compatible heads. The EvoX heads use a different UV map than the standard avatars do though, so these might be confusing for you right now. Genus has a free mesh head that uses the standard UV map, so get that one first before buying an EvoX head. * You'll see many references to BOM or Bakes On Mesh. This is a system that lets mesh bodies and heads use system skin, tattoos and clothing, so it's basically the same as what you're used to using. For a few years mesh bodies and heads had to use applier HUDs to change the textures on them, but appliers aren't used much now except for makeup, mesh hair and mesh clothing. (These are just called HUDs though.) * I almost forgot this part. When you use a mesh head, you'll need to use a shape made for that line of heads. Otherwise your head may look very weird. Mesh heads generally come with a shape, so use that one or another made for those heads, then modify your shape a little bit at a time, until you like how it looks. When you have a favorite body shape, write down your slider numbers for it on a notecard, so you can copy that shape to any other shape you may want to modify.
  10. This is of course a reference to old western TV shows such as Bonanza, which might use that caption when switching back to a scene at the ranch house. I think Batman, may have done something similar when switching scenes. Subtle transitions on TV shows weren't much of an expectation back in the 1960's and 1970's.
  11. Peeve: If one is not very actively reading a contentious thread, they can't really know why it might have been deleted.
  12. I think a thread is successful if it's interesting and/or entertaining. The sugar baby and other relationship threads can be entertaining for a few pages. The ones that ask for opinions and invite discussions can be very interesting sometimes, even when they get a bit contentious. If we're able to understand each other's perspectives without devolving to mud-slinging and name-calling, then I think that's very successful. We can't really hurt each other with a heated discussion here. It's not as if we can throw punches, chairs, shoot or drop bombs on each other.
  13. Peeve: When someone jinxes an interesting thread by saying "This is going so well. 10 pages already. " ( jk. It's not your fault, Love.) "Caedite eos. Novit enim Dominus qui sunt eius."* * (Is a reference to fighting zombies. No, really it is.)
  14. /me hands out 10 foot poles to the other forumites, in case they want to touch this topic.
