I dropped out of this chat awhile back and I'm not going to go back and read it now, call me lazy, whatever... but Peggy, if you are talking about my post with this "implication," this is like the famous telephone game. I never mentioned Republicans, ever. I never said any particular group was full of racists. I never said you were a racist. I said anyone who wants President Obama to fail (in his present capacity, as leader of our country, not in the upcoming election) due to his race is a racist, and that I am suprised by how many of those there is. I thought as humans we had evolved more than that, but I was wrong. You chose to take my words and twist them around and get all offended for no reason.
  2. check your information on file in your account page on the website. my financial info reverted to an old expired cc and I didn't notice it right away, could be your problem too. it's happened to a few people lately.
  3. Photoshop rocks, no reason not to use it if you have it - take advantage. I actually liked the CS2 interface a little bit better than CS4 - I have issues with sticky palettes/panels and I wish adobe would give me the docking station back, lol. Haven't looked at CS5 yet. Why not use both photoshop and paint shop pro? Many people use a combination of apps they like, no reason not to. Photoshop, like Chosen said, is industry-standard so improving your skills with that app can't really be a bad thing, right?
  4. Peggy Paperdoll wrote: I actually do hope this President fails miserably next November. He's already accomplished his failure as President. You are very good at twisting my words, I'll give you that. My point was if people are actively hoping our President fails as our President (not the election) because of his race, it's abhorrant. Don't you agree with at least that? Not believing that people think that way is your right as well, but unfortunately they do. Your opinion that he has failed as a President is your right to have. I have personally heard racial remarks slung at our President and it's embarassing. If you don't believe me, that's your right. I never called you a racist, and I think it's a little silly to take it so personally. It was NOT directed at YOU. Everyone has their opinion on politics and we never all agree but that's part of the excitement of it and if you can look at it as a learning experience we can all win. I've learned some things here today, it's all good.
  5. Whatever you need to tell yourself, sweetie. Don't take it so personally, unless you are one of those who are hoping our President fails miserably - I wasn't calling you a racist. I hereby state that I never called you a racist. There are, however, people out there who dislike him purely because of his race, I've heard it said out loud right in front of me more than once. It's hard to believe, isn't it?
  6. I'm not calling you a racist, Peggy. But there is a drift of very hateful racial subtext going on all over this country concerning our President and it's such a waste of energy. If you don't see or hear it, then perhaps good for you. But I see it, I hear it and I hate it.
  7. Qie Niangao wrote: Full disclosure: Although I live in Canada these days, I'm a US citizen and hence could vote in the presidential election. (Theoretically. Ain't gonna happen, but I could.) From here, it's harder to see why so many folks are so disappointed in Obama. Hi Que - Why do I have so much trouble responding in this forum, the formatting is horrible. I really want to address this for you living way up north there! I'm an Obama supporterand I think he won the most difficult presidency in American history. The multitude of things that needed immediate attention when he became president would have crippled a lesser person, I'm completely convinced. This country was in an economic state it's never been in before and there was eight years of bad decisions and their nasty fallout to clean up. Really bad decisions and toxic fallout. No way ANYONE could fix this mess in just a couple of years, I don't care who was elected. I heard an interesting discussion that said the main reason the GOP offered McCain/Palen on the last presidential ticket was that they knew they couldn't win, and that no matter who was elected they were going to have to make some very unpopular decisions and pretty much piss off every corner of the country, so they wanted the black man to win, and then fail miserably. It's really hard to accept how many people in this country are still such racists, I really thought we were evolving. Change takes time, especially to fix: two unfunded wars that practically bankrupted this country; meltdown of banking and housing industry; overwhelming unemployment. Anyone who thinks they could have fixed any of these things quickly needs to think again. Obama is a smart guy who has had to fight congress every step of the way for every single thing, it's ridiculous.
  8. Nope. Won't vote for him. I live in the USA. I agree with some of the things Ron Paul says but I would not vote for him for President, absolutely not. He has some interesting ideas and has said some interesting things i.e. reducing the size of the federal governement - but his zeal to abolish the federal government to the extent he wants to abolish it scares the living cr&p out of me. His ideas put a lot of responsibility on each state individually. In reducing federal government, he will just increase state governments. It's not truly getting rid of anything, its just moving the responsibility around. It's not a bad idea just one I don't agree with the way he wants to go about it. I think it would fracture this country even more than it is already. The things I don't like that he wants to do: -Eliminate immediately 5 cabinet-level agencies - Education (this of all things we really need to keep, and fund MORE, not less), Interior, Commerce, Energy, and Housing and Urban Development. Eliminate. Not cut their budgets, eliminate completely. Cut funding (down from 2006 levels) for the: Food and Drug Administration by 40%, Centers for Disease Control by 20%, Department of Homeland Security by 20%, National Institutes of Health by 20%, Environmental Protection Agency by 30%, Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services by 20% AND: cut the top corporate tax rate to 15% (down from 35%) :matte-motes-agape: He does not believe in the separation of church and state. Ron Paul voted against legislation to help catch online child predators. He says that parents should have the responsibility to protect their own children from such actions. He said, and I quote "those who experience sexual harassment in the work force should just quit." He does not believe in the individuals right to privacy - says it's not in the constitution therefore not a right. He's too hard core against abortion for my taste. He doesn't believe that citizens have the right to access to education. Pell grants and federal college education loans would go buh-bye. His "Restore America" budget plan proposes selling off at least $40 billion worth of public lands such as national parks, and other federal assets, between 2013 and 2016. He doesn't believe climate change is an issue (it's February, and my air conditioning is on, yet it's snowing in north Africa, but okay, whatever). He does not believe access to health care is a human right and he's another one who would like to abolish Medicare. I could go on but these things in my opinion are enough that I could not vote for him. And by the way, the most embarassing Newt Gingrich is not the front runner for the Repubican nomination, Romney is at the moment. I don't think Ron Paul doesn't stand a chance of getting the nod from the GOP, even though most of his ideas are better than the other guys (most of whom don't have ideas but do have lots of rhetoric) but as other posters have pointed out, he just doesn't have the money to pull it off.
  9. Wow, what a crazy problem! Have you stripped your avatar down to nothing and logged off that way? I'd pick one viewer and stick with it, uninstall all of them doing the necessary manual clean up also, then do a clean install of just one. It really suks that LL won't help you, I feel your pain. Good luck, you must tell us if you find something that works.
  10. Really? 2L? Not worth getting your toga in a twist. That's like 30 cents.
  11. I rented from Azure Islands from Dec. 2006 to Dec. 2010. Never had any problems with them at all.
  12. LL barely markets SL at all, from what I see. It's not like you see ads for it much, or even at all, anywhere. I think I heard they have an ad that pops up in Facebook sometimes, but I don't use Facebook so I really don't know. I heard about SL through an article I read in a tech magazine many years ago. I really can't recall any ads I've seen for SL, and the lack of marketing from LL is something many in-world creators have been upset about for years.
  13. I'm pretty sure I thought the same thing you thought, Bree... did you go and see what it was? If you did, like I did, then I guess the marketing worked, lol. Not that I'm entering, but I did check it out just to clarify what it was!
  14. Dancing slugs at Hyles Swamp, I guess you had to be there... hysterical, hold your sides fall out of your chair hysterical. I know I took pics, i must find them and post them.
  15. Unlikely you'll get banned. Unlikely you'll even get a reprimand. Considering some of the threads in this forum concerning some long term over the top stalkers that haven't turned LL head, I doubt this minor disgression will. I think I want a turtle, they sound cute!
  16. Redzone doesn't work anymore, and hasn't in about a year I think. Being alerted to whenever a specific avatar logs into the grid is easy to accomplish with a script, and as far as I know there is no way to fool it. There is no way to avoid showing as being online to others in your groups, either. Several years ago I remember someone showing me a script he put into a prim, then gave that prim (in the form of a bracelet or necklace, I don't remember) to his gf and when she wore it he could easily track where she went inworld. It's kind of hard to stay under the radar in SL.
  17. One thing you might try before doing the drastic Character Test is to remove items you are wearing, one by one- start with any tattoo layer you may have on. I find that if I am wearing more than just a couple tattoo layers when I log out, when I log back in sometimes I don't rez, its like the system can't remember which layer goes where and does nothing. As soon as I start removing tattoo layers, my avatar rezzes and I can put back on the tats.
  18. Wow, what does it take to get LL's attention? Those chat logs are pretty nasty. Isn't it against TOS to use a display name to try to impersonate someone? That may be a way to get someone's attention at LL. That was one of the big arguments against display names, and LL promised to take quick action against someone doing that. Having the ability to create a name that closely mimics someone elses name has fail written all over it, imo. Sorry to hear you are having to deal with such a twisted individual and LL is not helping you at all. Bullys do tend to get bored after awhile if they can't get their intended reaction, but this person really seems to have crossed the line into obsession. Good luck.
  19. Orisca wrote: I just bought a skin after trying the demo and was shocked at the results..the face and neck made me cringe (although the body is gorgeous) and absolutely nothing like the advertised model... Did you buy the shape also? Skins can look really different from one shape to another.
  20. Go check your payment info on file, it may be incorrect. I had updated my cc info early in January, then on Saturday after a couple failed transactions I found my payment info had reverted to the old, expired cc info.
  21. I am concerned as to how my payment info reverted to infomation that is outdated. As far as I remember, once you update a credit card, the old information is no longer available at all. I posted a thread about exactly this problem yesterday and Mr. Mike Moderator deleted it and told me not to post it again... is this a touchy subject that we are not supposed to talk about?
  22. If you find your avatar or clothes taking way too long to rez, try removing a tattoo or two - you can put them back on after you rez but multiple tattoo layers seem to cause me problems upon log-in sometimes. YMMV...
  23. I haven't seen any drama since about 2007... I must be doing it wrong.
  24. Yes, I had that problem Saturday and when I looked at my account info on the website, my cc on file info had reverted to an old, expired cc. I updated that info early in January -- how it reverted to an old card over thirty days later is beyond me. Have a look at your payment info and make sure your cc is current.
