  1. Amethyst, you should treat us to some pics! I remember wandering through her store for hours sometimes, completely enchanted...
  2. Does anyone remember the incredible creations Nonna Hedges used to bestow upon us mere mortals? Her stuff was amazing...
  3. as Phil said, I know this problem has been fixed but another way to grab something that has stuck itself in a tricky place is to make sure your build tool options are set to 'select by surrounding' and 'select only my objects' if necessary, then you can click-drag a box around the area you think the pesky thing may be, and viola, you can grab the item.
  4. can't be WE, there has been no talk of gambling games or the saving of the teenagers, and not nearly enough typos and nonsensical prose. trolls have a lot of work to do to even come close to the epic rants WE treated us to. ahh, good times...
  5. are you in an area that allows scripts to run when you wear it?
  6. Thank you for trying to explain, Immy. I think the techno heads ganged up on you a bit and I'm sorry they did that to you when all you were trying to do was help.
  7. Good question, but I'm clueless since I've never used that viewer. I would go through the LL viewer's preferences and see if I could find a similar setting.
  8. What viewer are you using? I am using the Firestom beta viewer and when that happened to me I fixed it by going into Preferences - Graphics - Rendering > and UNchecking "render alpha masks when lighting and shadows is NOT enabled." Hope that works for you!
  9. you really should shop that pic a little, it looks like you're wearing some bling on your left ear...

Knowl Paine wrote:I have to finish my builds and market them to have any proof that I originated the builds, that's a ton of work :matte-motes-angry:, I just want to build. :smileyhappy: you don't necessarily have to market your products in order to prove you own IP rights on them. copyright is copyright, doesn't really matter if there is buying or selling or marketing involved.

L$ asking thing same person asking for more and more to every different person and everyone gave to them hmm? Could make a lot of cash that way hmm? Now explain that Now lets press the issue whats your views should begging be allowed? Your view thanks for the warning, I guess. it's been going on since, well, for ever, you must be new. sometimes I give beggars money, sometimes I don't - just like in RL, I guess. i'm personally not inclined to want to add any more rules to SL than we already have, tho. begging in sl will get you booted from most venues so I'm pretty sure the problem polices itself eventually.
  12. Congratulations on your creation! There is a small void area between the shirt/undershirt and pants/underpants layers, if that is what you are talking about. It is an error in the avatar's map on SL's side, so there is nothing you can do about it. It is not something you did wrong.
  13. I want to say at least a year, but I really don't remember exactly when it was added. 8-bit png files and bmp files work also, but not 8-bit tga files.
  14. Hi Danii - you've run into one of the major annoyances in clothes creation. The lower half of the avatar template is right about 75% smaller than the top half, if that helps at all...
  15. G Field has some wonderful shoes, well made with great prices too.
  16. Chosen Few wrote: Charolotte Caxton wrote: Why hopefully an 8 or 24 bit and not a 32? I'm not sure why 8-bit was mentioned, since SL cannot utilize 8-bit imagery. Everything is 24-bit (RGB) or 32-bit (RGBA). If you try to upload an 8-bit image, it will trigger an "Unable to read image" error. No longer true - 8-bit jpgs do work in SL now.

  18. Learning is never a waste of time and graphics programs are hardly slogging through mud, you can use those skills in RL to make real money -- and besides, there are tons of free resources out there to help you do it. You can either teach yourself or enroll in school, it's unlikely you will find someone in these forums who will be willing to take the enormous amount of time to tutor you - but it never hurts to ask. There is no easy step by step here's how to make great clothes explainations either, and it's not as if there is some secret easy button that no one wants to share with you. It takes time, lots of time and dedication and as the previous poster said - it is not easy. It took me years to get to the point where my designs are just decent, and I've been using Photoshop for what, over 15 years now. And I'm still learning things about it. If you want to take the easy route you can always just buy pre-made clothing template layers from the Marketplace. You'll still need to learn the graphics programs in order to use them, tho, but learning those is never a waste of time...
  19. Designers are still using invisi-prims because many residents are still using viewers that can't use alpha masks. Some designers include both alpha masks and invisi-prims for versatility. I personally don't really care as long as the shoes are well made.
  20. do you know who owns the IP rights on the photo in question? if the photo is royalty free or in the public domain, there is no copyright infraction. as other posters have already pointed out, it's up to the owner of that photo to request that it be taken down.
  21. Since it doesn't happen very often, I say weigh the benefit with the cost. It really costs you nothing to replace the item, and if you even gain one customer from someone seeing this person wearing your merchandise, you've gained a lot. If it turns out to be a legitimate request, whether or not LL is at fault and should be responsible for the error doesn't matter -- you will be the one who looks bad to the customer, and to all her friends she is likely to tell her story to.
  22. I can only speak for myself but often there is someone else in the room watching tv or listening to music or something and my using a mic would be disturbing for them. And since I spend so much of my RL day on the phone with clients, the last thing I want to do when I am relaxing in SL is hear myself speaking.
  23. Ceera is correct, you need the Extended version of the software for 3D functions. Huge jump from 7 to CS5, put your seatbelt on!
