  1. Firefox on W7, Netherlands. Flashblock did it's job. An obscure Play button right below had to be clicked.

Workes  within it's limitations good. Graphics are poor quality but suffcient. I  can not receive teleport requests. IM works. All sence of direction is  missing without maps, or even a basic NESW thingy. Can't find people, no  green dots to poke. Animations work. Running SL and the web client  works, a bit, but my network could handle the traffic and the webclient  closes with an informative message. The message dissapears to quick. Buying is impossible. Only the mini profiles are shown.
Big choice of avatars and destinations, even mainland can be visited.

Re-entering gives a new avatar with a new name, pity since I did use the same e-mail address.

The button Full Access is WRONG. It closes the session while it should have opened a new browser tab. The red color should have been a hint...

Since the normal client can poke deeper into your computer as the webclient I hope this won't become a griefer tool.

Good taster for new residents. WTG!

  2. Three times now I could not loose a music stream, sticked with me like glue and the viewer kinda thought I was still on the old parcel (making a LM) though seeing the new parcel. A TP did not solve this, since I could not. Had to relog. Also my funds appeared as being a noob again, 20L$ and I could not spend 1L$ of those. A relog also cured that so I could tip the musician.

Nvidea multithreaded sometimes causes a crash, quite unpredictable.

Wondering, should I start a Jira for such observations? A ticket? Or is my ISP b0rking up?

Appears that Windows 7 pushed me a number of updates. Perhaps the V2 errors were caused by that.

  3. A friend wasn't able to log in with the main avatar after upgrading, the alt could walk normal. All the usual tricks did not work. Cache, Graphics settings, Pooley (busy there) etc.
There was no error after logging in, SL just froze like the northpole with a logout after about a minute.

After renaming the AppData\roaming\secondlife\avatar_name into AppData\roaming\secondlife\avatar_name_old the friend could log in.

Since AppData is a hidden directory it was quite a challange to help remotely, specially since we both have different language versions of Windows.
I'm quite puzzeled what could have caused this.

  4. Tried and and compared it with the only left competition, Kirstens.

ok, it doesn't make the graphics card burn but the UI is better. So, sorry Kirstens, I'll be in V2.2 for now. Just until I need some nice rendered shadows and I'll probably discover Kirstens viewer is again ahead of the LL viewer.

Many of the improvements I see in V2.2 look like being made by Kirstens.

Much cudo's to LL and Kirsten for making long leaps towads the best viewer for any reality.

  5. @WolfBaginski Bearsfoot
The Blog (as we are in now) is only suited to comment on the OP, not for discussion. I posted a link towards the forum related to Mesh where discussion is easier.

Blue knew how to make Blog postings, he didn't allow comments but started a thread on the forums and even participated.

Perhaps someone can help Jack a bit and start a thread on the forum to continue discussion.

  6. Just had a flash of enlightement...I need to share

If LL segments support, Premium and Concierge have so much invested, we aint gonna leave soon (the proof is on the map). Basic with an age below thee months, they are walking on the sideline.
If there is a segment that needs premium support, give it to Basic below three months.

Gosh, we oldies have (grown) a thick skin by now. If there is something we need, it's fresh blood, new residents, future land owners.

  7. Vogt,

As a forum dweller I have read heart breaking stories about Support lately. It can easy be explained why Support was on such a low but even the most important Support (account, finance, concierge) was unreachable for many. If we want residents to enter and stay support for those types of tickets should have remained on-line.

Support is one of the most expensive parts of a company, but it's also the part that gives the most rewards. From every fail you can learn and improve. Basics of CS and QA, corrective fix, preventive fix, company policy are all linked together. It all starts with an effective CS system.

From your post I read you have learned from the past and have started developing a new system. I hope your system will catch all (all support is being fed into it, all), I hope you take the additional steps to focus development on the points that hurt most.

Remember, you only get one support request for ten fails so you better catch that one. Nine have left and/or have given up.

Clean up the backlog asap (even of the ones that have left), there most be some gems in there.

Let Lindens be an example on SLA to make it work better to make it more effective. Much can be done during a coffee break.

  8. I always wondered, if I promise not to make a profit, could I apply for LL funding to buy me a sim?

I pay a full price for my activities, in a way, I'm funding the ones that don't make a profit. Do I want to? What would be my benefit? What would be the benefit for the Second Life community? Do we grow future residents? Do we grow future developers to make Second Life even more awesome? Is it worth it?

  9. I feel we have a responsibility towards the users of AU. It is good for LL to support the website, specially with the name it has. Please reconsider the proposed path, or leave open the option of handing over the keys towards a possible new owner without breaking down the house first.

I found the purchase of AU a good choice. If done well it could pay for itself, including staff, and would be a platform to promote Second Life. I pity the choice not to integrate AU with SL but to integrate with SL.com. Please make sure it's an opt-in choice for the users.

Update the AU website to include your statement.

  10. The data shows what we know already. SL is sorta flat-lining, only the old remain. This is very worrying. For economics, for developements and for the WOW factor. Unfortunately we don't know how much land is "unowned" where residents have left and the land still shows as being owned by them. This is a scary void in the data.

I would have hoped some info would be revealed about the total value of LL and the recent reports about the decrease in value but I understand this is for Secondlife economics so I'm hoping for to much.

I regred the intention to skip the Economic Statisics feed, I hope and expect you will find a proper repository for that data.

Attention must go to cusomer satisfaction, the best advocates for sl are in sl, and towards bringing in new residents.
