  1. when you mentioned you were going to test this the other month I wondered if this would be a fix. I was hoping that it was going to be as "simple" as deleting the box and then adding the xml back in.. What a shame it's not that simple and that LL won't provide it as a fix. Well done for cracking it though
  2. I had one in couldbe's where the pic and listing name was there but went to the homepage as I'd delisted the item when the problem had first occured. with that I just relisted and waited and now it's gone. with the others I had the item with pics from other merchants - they're the ones that increased in number a few months ago and then went reverted to proper listings. I couldn't even tell you which listings they were as I didn't pay that much attention (These days I work on the theory that LL will either fix it or not and there's very little I can do either way). I couldn't do anything else, not even delist, as I kept getting an xstreet error about duplicate listings so the corruption was within the database.
  3. I was digging around the other day and reacquainted myeself with some qav links. So I thought I might put them here so they're all in the one place. Qav 2008 and 2010 can be found here along with a link to the source code: http://qavimator.org/ The list of outstanding bugs and feature requests can be found here: http://sourceforge.net/tracker/?group_id=170979 Someone has taken the qav source code and what looks like fixed bits and added bits. I have no idea what to do with the code but for anyone who can take it and run with it as it's gpl licenced of course. https://code.google.com/p/animik/source/browse/trunk/qavimator/src/animationview.h?spec=svn137&r=137 anyone who has the technical wizardy to take the source code and upgrade it (apparently this little beauty was originally built in 3 weeks and classified as still in alpha by the developer before the dev wandered off to do other things) will, of course, earn the eternal gratitude of rather a lot of people.

It might be worthwhile putting in a support ticket listing the urls of the the affected listings and asking for them to be deleted. you may just get your wish, stranger things have happened. When the first mixed listings appeared on my website I submitted a support ticket that then launched a whole series of events, including being contacted in world by Brooke Linden who asked me to submit *another* support ticket which I promptly did...and received a prompt response from a "Scout" to say I had already submitted a ticket on this same issue and closed it. I re-opened it and stated that I had been directed to submit a second one by Brooke (which was also stated in the closed ticket). Another Scout closed it and said I had to AR this issue in world. Ummmm....AR who? For a MP issue? That would have been a good one. Contacted Brooke and then received an apology email from Dakota. Whew. After all of that, the mixed listings in my MP store disappeared...to be replaced by three new ones that have been there since at least May. Awhile back there was a notice from CTL to please submit a support ticket for any remaining issues on the MP. I did so for this second group of mixed listings and received a "Scout-response" that LL is aware of this issue and closed it. So yeah, have filed a support ticket. Several times. And dealt with apparently clueless "Scouts." And now have two email apologies from Dakota. ah well, perhaps you just need to do what I did which was relist where necessary and wait for them to get rid of the corrupt ones. Certainly LL are never going to do me any favours so somehow it looks as if it was just serendipity that meant mine somehow got dealt with.

  6. I just left a review and only the star rating is showing - the comments and my name are not showing at all - in either firefox or ie.. Which is not fair as the creator can't see the feedback. Has anyone else left a review lately and can you see it? ignore this - it seems that the star updates immediately and the comments take a bit longer to update. as an aside, I realised the other week that even a one star rating appears to improve your ranking for it, so if you do get a poor rating for whatever reason it will at least improve your search placement.
  7. Gadget Portal wrote: Yes, did that too. You guys don't believe me. Go try it. It's not that I don't believe you but if you're going to flag something that's going to be taken down I just want to make sure you've covered the bases. LL won't tell them why they've taken it down (not as advertised is not really going to be very helpful, if they even tell them that), so it's only fair to make sure that you're right before you proceed.
  8. it's possible that either the land impact or prim count is as specified.. have you checked both?
  9. there isn't a way to recover that message. the only thing I can suggest is you have a look at your unlisted items and see if there's anything there that shouldn't be. You'll just have to second guess what the reason was for the delisting and if LL does it again then keep that merchant home page open until you have sorted it. Cold comfort I know but that's been on the pls fix list since we migrated and it's not looking likely to be fixed.
  10. *tap* *tap* *tap* is this thing on? adding a few sub categories to erotic funiture is looking like a good idea - there's currently over 11,000 items so how about erotic furniture Adult (covers all those *ahem* normal smutty activities) BDSM (keeps the perverts in one place and doesn't scare the non kinksters) RLV (on the whole, more perversion! but since some people do use viewers specifically because of the rlv features, let them find what they're looking for in one place) Role Play (yet more pervertable things but hey ho)
  11. VonGklugelstein Alter wrote: I strongly recommend that LL figures out a system that excludes listings from inactive accounts. If it were up to me I would go as far as requiring a premium account in order to sell anything on the site. This free for all system will destroy their company! I predicted it when they first opened SLM and now I guarantee it.. No need for land, no need for anything except cashing out makes everyone a profitable merchant except those who rent land and pay premium fees.... prices are falling, people are quitting, land is being abandoned .. all of this will cost them revenue. Again.. Land ownership or high listing fees for non premium members and the the priveledge of selling on the marketplace should be related! you're making an assumption that ll both cares and even acknowledges there's a causal relationship between the marketplace and the land issues inworld. I don't think either of these assumptions could be considered correct. even though I hate to say it, if you remember when they bought slx and there's was all that discussion, the hysterics over any suggestion that they try to limit access to the marketplace in any way brought howls from the mob, even listing fees for freebies was a cause for much angst. Whilst LL favours us giving away our stuff for nothing, they're going to favour those who sell cheap or give freely over people who try to get any kind of return to pay their inworld costs and perhaps even make some rl dollars. They really do not appear to give a **bleep** that a lot of the big landlords have a substantially reduced commercial portfolio or that there's a scary amount of abandonded mainland. But remember, Rod has threatened us with new ways to improve the way we monetise our creations so we'll just have to wait until the minions deliver.
  12. Sassy Romano wrote: Deal with the high prices, just as we have to deal with the L$0 prices, they're not going away and merchants have themselves to blame in many cases by rushing to the bottom of the price barrel. one user agrees
  13. it's looks like the marketplace has it in for you Good luck with the support ticket then, hopefully they'll give you a better answer than "raise a jira"..
  14. the last suggestion I have is to delete that folder and relist with a new name (put a full stop at the end of the filename of something).. that will create a new listing number and hopefully whatever the problem is won't happen again. The stuff I listed today I uploaded a week or more ago so if they've destroyed something in a release since then that may not fix it either but it's probably worth a shot.
  15. are you sure the 1 is a 1 and not a | or something else? I listed 3 things today and it all went smoothly. have you tried renaming the jpg? and I seem to remember that smaller file sizes don't always load so it could be 512 is too small for it. 700 high from what I remember is not going to work.. 700 wide is fine but the height is quite constrained - because it's landscape rather than portrait. so it could be something as simple as when it compresses it it's taking it down to below the minimum width and so won't load it. (if of course the 700 is wide then I really do have no idea) If none of them work then I'm out of options. I can only suggest you raise a support ticket and attach the files that failed and ask them.
  16. I don't recognise the error message but if you've got non-alpha/numeric characters (like #) it won't load. the other thing is are you sure they're jpgs (yes, I know it's basic but sometimes things go awry)
  17. fwiw, my sales started again late yesterday but I noticed that they didn't update relevance for my homepage this morning.

In this thread http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/Something-very-very-big-to-be-announced/td-p/1726167/page/7 Delatango Vale posted a prank news story from Bloomberg reporting that CCP had purchase SL. Unfortunately Darrius was the only one who fell for it. Seems he is still dwelling on the possibilities of what might have been if the story were true. :matte-motes-big-grin: Not only FELL for it .. I had a serously orgasmic full-body reaction to it. LOL! I'm still having floating-in-the-sky after-quakes and wetdreams. *GRIN* A lot of the reason for such an overblown reaction is that I've seen how a company that actually invests in their product can produce something that gains great respect .. both for their product and themselves. CCP has pioneered novel server farm interconnection methodologies that allow them to host an entire virtual universe with the ability to host 1000 or more highly complicated and equipped player Avatars in a single Region .. without lag. Some of the PVP battles look like two angry hornets nests in full-scale Armageddon level battle. Laser fire, smart bombs, cruise missiles, ships warping and flying around .. all in real-time and all in 100% full detail Ultra-graphics settings. They also have a full-featured economy and industrial governance system that allows people to model their Corporations and operate them as though they are real-world companies .. complete with BoD structutes, corporate holdings and the full abillty to trade among themselves in flexible dynamic markets. Time spent in EVE Online is akin to living in the future, living in space and being an inhabitant of that science fiction reality. It is .. in one simple word .. AMAZING. They treat their customers with utmost respect. Often times when they are preparing to roll out a new feature, they will invite many customers to log into a special grid and test things to the max. They equip them with all the tools and toys necessary to really push their software to the limits .. and they reward those that help them test with goodies, special add-ons or any number of value-adds. And they have an AI-based police force that inhabits the universe, magically appears when people are doing "Bad Stuff" .. and instantly annihilates the baddies and their ships. Considering that it can take months to build up a good ship, equip it as you want and customize it for the best action .. having it instantly decimated is plenty of incentive for folks to play nice ... as they set out to totally destroy their opponents. EVE also has sections of space that are "anything goes" zones. This helps folks that just NEED to be bad-actors by giving them places to hang out and take all sorts of naughty actions against their fellow inhabitants. So yeah, I tumbled .. hard .. for Deltango's faux-post. But it satisfied a set of goals I've had for a long time regarding Second Life .. and I'm not sure I won't tumble for such a ringer again either. I'm just that hopeful that SL will one day wake up and realize the value they squander daily. you poor love, you must have still been in the denial phase then. It sounds like it's passed to acceptance now. I think we all go through the 7 stages of grief as we go from dewey eyedness to trying to work out just how LL have managed to snatch defeat from the jaws of victory in such a resounding manner. Eve doesn't have user generated content though, does it? With the best will in the world, sl could not meet their standards because as content creators we just don't have the discipline or the skills to generate that level of optimised content but we could certainly come closer than what we've got now and wouldn't it be lovely to try?

That one's a nice one because if Rod is true to his word that he's going to get them to improve the way we monetise our stuff then we're in for a rocky ride and will need something to cling to. Thank you. Are we back to the "CCP buys out LL" rumor .. cuz I really LOVED that one. Yeah, their take on monetization of our products is slightly (okay .. grossly) askew from our view. Although how blocking sales, prohibiting advertising, and removing items for spurious reasons can be seen as beneficial still escapes me, but apparently that is what LL believes .. so I guess I'm wrong again! (go figure!) I don't know who ccp are so I must have missed that memo. It's just a fervent wish I've had since that last le tigre **bleep** up that destroyed my shop (again). As for beneficial, I've stopped thinking that they get the concept of the ecosystem they touted the other year and are looking a pure time spent on things. LL has always wanted less people who generate a higher value to them than what they have and their behaviour has never given me any reason to doubt they're still pursuing that line. We literally don't matter to them as what we want isn't what they want to give us. Now if one of the larger retailers went to ll and had a little whine about these things there'd be a bigger chance of them being fixed, although I'd say LL would just give them some kind of sweetener as compensation as it's still cheaper than fixing the problems. Even a month's free tier by way of apology probably only costs them around 50usd whereas fixing something might actually cost upwards of 10,000 usd. If they lose a couple of creators who stop paying for land well it's the estate landlords who lose and even if it's ll because it's mainland, say 15usd a month from a couple of content creators who are finally sick of it is still less than fixing it and there are always others to take their place. but ultimately they're banking on the fact that we keep sucking up what they dish out. That's life in sl.
  20. remember that the commission isn't revenue (except in an indirect way but I've not really seen any evidence that the mlp has ever increased the amount of money brought into sl). Think of this as the first salvo in Rods threat to help make it easier to monetise our products and you'll be fine. edited for spelling, it's too early in the day.

  22. you're making two assumptions that I don't think are correct 1. that they care.. after looking at that login page that looked to be spurious comments to the dev about font and placement that none of them noticed a few years back, I'd say that their pride in their work and interest is not high. which is what the prim > land impact change falls under 2. I don't think there are web devs for the slm. If they had one dedicated dev I think we'd see a lot more of the bug fixes done. That problem with the pics on wrong listings could have been fixed within a few hours if they'd had a dba and dev available. Also, LL has always had a reputation for working in silos, with each silo determinedly disinterested in what the others are doing (and by the look of it sometimes for what they're doing). So sacking non existent peeps isn't going improve what we've got.
  23. and there's no sub category for bidets in bathrooms or bathroom accessories like toilet roll holders, towels and things and nothing new in adult my big wish is they'd break the content creator stuff from the consumer. that would make life easier all round I think.
  24. I thought the same thing and rolled my eyes but I reason it wasn't deliberate, it's just they don't know how to turn it on. I did have to laugh though because it really is typical of them lol. Pamela worked around it by starting a new thread so we'll just keep doing that if they do it again.
  25. There's certainly something wrong with it as I have an account where I've been keeping the stuff in the received items folder thinking that it's safer than the inventory, yet the other week I went into the account and found the folder completely empty. My happiness obviously wasn't high.. The next time I went back in everything was back but I didn't check the contents of each folder as I just didn't want to face it.
