But then I guess there is the risk of merchants spamming people with too many updates. You must be new! Imagine a bright sunny day, you're strolling along and encounter a tree. On that tree you see a bunch of low hanging fruit. You have a choice, you could either pick some of this low hanging fruit, or you could leave it to drop on the ground and go rotten. There are many quick, high value (measured in terms of benefit) pieces of low hanging fruit that could have been picked off. Instead, there's a brewery somewhere making cider from all the fermenting fruit picked from the ground.
  2. Pamela Galli wrote: Actually some such as Sassy have a thingy they use, or used, to keep track of MP sales and I think could be used for updates. Not sure about that. Before I started using the update script I just used a sender thing with buyer names on a notecard. Not quite but as others have stated, Caspervend as a whole vending system or iGlom as a redelivery product only do offer this with the requirement that you had previously set up to process ANS transactions from MP. If you haven't, then the simplest way is to download the CSV of sales data, mush it around in your favourite spreadsheet manipulating thingy and spit out the column of names (or better, the UUID of the avatar) for the product that wants an update sending. Feed that into something like Postmaster (available on MP)
  3. Ok, wear a commercial hat. How much money will LL make (or how much will they save) by spending resource to create a phone app which just allows chat? There's really no incentive for them to do it. Chat using offline IM's to email, works fine or choose a phone which isn't a niche 18% market share holder.
  4. Not forgetting that the power supply needs to be appropriate and have the right connectors.
  5. I agree with Perrie, it's the Lumiya viewer, there said it. I'm going to say some more, firestorm, catznip, singularity, dolphin. How hard can it be?
  6. Be aware that you are keyword spamming which is against the MP rules:- Keywords: skirt, women's clothes, cute, pretty, jean, denim, skirt, designer, free, freebie, demo, awesome, cool, hot, sexy, beautiful, woman, womens, women

I was hoping to speak to some users about their experiences and thoughts on the subject. Would anyone be willing to speak to me about it? Happy to do so anonymously if preferred. Thanks! You're kidding us? Really? A Masters student in Journalism writes like this? May I suggest you take English 101 before proceeding further. Perrie... it seems to me that today, an investigative journalist, for example, considers their craft to be the ability to copy and paste a few posts from a celebrities Twitter feed. What exactly where you expecting?
  8. Let me help you here. In order to create items for a mesh body (a mesh item, not an applier paint on item), you really need the mesh body dev kit, the weighted model. When applying for a mesh body kit, one reads this sort of thing, from one of the most popular mesh body creators:- If you would like to request a kit to create footwear or mesh clothing, you can do so by filling out this form Due to the high demand for these kits and the limited availability of them, we are not able to send a personal reply to everyone. If your store gets selected, you will receive an email about it. I've applied, twice, been ignored twice, this renders my creativity for mesh bodies to an absolute nil. I have no idea why these should be considered limited availability, it's a digital item! Further, stating that people will be ignored... you can take from that what you wish. SL is of no further interest to me from a development perspective. So, you may want to check what's actually available for your mesh body before suggesting to people that they should be filling a missing niche, especially when the creator of your chosen mesh body may be actively inhibiting other creators from filling that niche. Also throw in the minor point that much of the role play around Gor also tends to incorporate RLV at some point, mesh bodies are a bit pants when it comes to support for RLV.
  9. it's not hard to believe that there's nobody to tell because it's entirely outside of SL. I suspect it's a music steam or media on a prim, both of which could be accessed via a web browser. if you did that and got the same malware message, who would you report it to? it is clearly already known to your security software. Not everything that you view inside SL is necessarily part of SL though the distinction isn't necessarily clear if you're not interested in the technical aspects so I can understand your concern.
  10. nothing to do. slplugin.exe is a web/media player plugin that is connecting to an external web address which is outside of SL, same as if you visited it with your browser. Either the media URL is falsely flagged or it could be genuine, either way, nothing to do with Linden Lab or a fault in SL.
  11. ErinaDarkfire wrote: No I'm sorry. Call me naive . I buy lindens at whatever LL sells them for in seconds . As far as i'm concerned, i'm only trying to cash in the lindens. I have no idea of money markets. LL says it takes 3-5 days. It's now 11 days. But thanks for the insigh and taking the time to explain it. No problem. As I said, when you buy, you automatically buy the most L$ for the $, you're not buying them from LL though, you're buying them from the person who is offering the most. When you sell, you can choose the rate you sell at, you can be that person offering the most L$ for the $ or you can choose a lower amount. In choosing a lower amount, you're going to wait until everyone above you has sold theirs first, it's a bit of a bunfight basically. The 3-5 day time that LL mention, is the actual cashout of $ to your account, not the time it takes to first exchange L$ game tokens with other residents into $. If you still haven't sold, cancel the order and place at a higher rate or you can continue to wait. Bear in mind that it may never get back to your rate offered or it could go lower, that's the market at work.
  12. Possibly Phil. Either way, I suspect a lot of people believe that you buy and sell L$ tokens direclty from LL at a set price?
  13. ErinaDarkfire wrote: I must be missing something here . Minutes? I have been waiting since 19/6 . It takes seconds to buy lindens and 8 days to sell them ? Why? Is there another tier to this system where you pay a higher fee for a quicker transaction? The obvious question is "You do realise that it's a fluctuating rate and that you're in competition with other sellers of L$ who may offer a better rate? In other words, when you buy, you typically buy at the best rate, you get the most L$ for your RL money but when you sell, you place a sell order of which you can set "best rate" (at the time) or a sell price of your choice. Depending on what happens next, that best rate at the time might immediately be bettered and you're in the queue. The rate has changed quite a lot recently so the next question is, at what rate are you selling and where in this pile are you?
  14. qav doesn't save anim format for SL
  15. I went through this years ago when Apez collapsed. very fraught, very time consuming. The result was that I bought the Hippo system but found a number of issues such that I didn't deploy it and after conversation with Andy at the time, found his approach way below a standard of customer service that one would expect. He didn't like me commenting on certain security issues with the system and preferred to ban me and cancel all open support tickets. That set the tone for my experience. Result was a stellar piece of effort on my SL partners behalf, as he created or own custom web based vending system in under two weeks and the feature set left others in the shade. Anyone experiencing the wrong end of a vending system fail and subsequent migration has my sympathy and very rare from me...a hug!
  16. The RL example that I gave was a 30% change. The current Linden value has changed by around 5% (actually less but let's keep the drama by saying 5%) Yep, apples and oranges. Come back when it has changed by 30% although in actuality, even if it does, so be it. Just like my RL example, it happens!
  17. I'm curious why? are you trying to spend your entire creative and social life in SL using Android on a platform designed for PC?
  18. (Yes, it was a pain when I could get $2 US and then it dipped all the way down to about $1.40, not significant at all, not a bit) However, moving swiftly on... more important thing to concern myself with.
  19. That's an irrational thought process since the forum is pretty much read by the same people with the same opinions about the same stuff. I'm not sure why a new thread on the same topic would expect anything different. I just assumed you hadn't seen the other thread, i'm not fussed either way, i'll cash out when I cash out, at the rate that gets me the quickest sale, same as I have done for all the years before. *shrugs* I used to be able to get $2 US to each one of my currency, now I can't. That's currency fluctuation for you. Move on!
  20. This belongs in this existing thread https://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/LindeX-at-251/m-p/3024950#U3024950
  21. err who is this single monopoly trader making offers at what ever rate they choose? Do you understand how the lindex works?
  22. Rya Nitely wrote: This is going to be my RL livelihood. I'll be giving up my job in the near future. I work hard for this money. I keep pushing on even when I'm exhausted - it's not a hobby for me. So yes, while I'm not complaining about the changes it will have an impact. The $180 would cover my internet bill, mobile phone bill and Netflix, with some change. Rya, please take this in the manner in which it's intended but if $180 either way is an issue (i'm sure it's not but....) then this isn't the right path for you. Using SL as an only source of income is fine, i've been there too but it's also the same as working as a freelance contractor (been there too). You have good contracts, you have ones that aren't so good and you have to balance it all out. You're not in control of the money market, nor the sales market, nor any of the other whims that LL may chose to bestow upon the residents thus you really are at their mercy. Sales on SL are competitive, as is the cashing out process. If that's not within your comfort zone, choose a different path.
  23. Unwanted bones should have zero rotation on all axes. Maybe Daz is applying some unwanted rotation?
  24. Mute, de-renderer, ignore work perfectly. Stop playing the victim, it only empowered the abusers.
