  1. Oh the irony! Gone are the days when people complained that there's no alpha supplied. Fortunately, this isn't a problem that I suffer from as a creator because for whatever reason, I'm not deemed an appropriate recipient of a Maitreya dev kit.

This can be solved easily enough. You need to implement an ANS processor for your MP transactions. This is usually an option in an inworld vending system such that your inworld vending system handles inworld purchases and MP sends sales data to the same system. This way you get to offer redeliveries from MP purchases. We know that LL doesn't offer transaction data beyond 30 days, so we solve it in other ways. My sales database covers 8 years. I don't ask customers for transaction history because I can nearly always find it in a couple of clicks and am way faster than it would take me to even type "please send your transaction history".
  3. /me turns into a fire breathing dragon and burns the hospital down, killing all occupants and in the process god modes the crap out of this. (No real avatars were harmed in this role play and the making of this post and all avatar names are fictional. Any correlation to similarly named real life humans is entirely coincidental)

  5. I wouldn't expect it to happen. It was going to be as part of the defunct Direct Delivery phase 2 but there would have been a commission for using them. What we really wanted was an API to hook third party vending systems into a MP delivery mechanism and reviews could have been a feature which was gained by default. This way via an API, you would have been able to keep your own vending system and just gain benefits. Project died, that's that.
  6. There was a time when LL were going to create inworld vendors as part of a project. They'd deliver using the Direct Delivery mechanism. It died a death. Yes it could be done, appetite from merchants wasn't that warm either though, you can search back through the forums, it's not the first time this has come up.
  7. Chaser Zaks wrote: As for forcing companies to require 2-step authentication, I am highly against it. No one should have the authority to tell a company how to control their website. Well that already happens all the time and it's a good thing that companies are called into compliance. https://www.pcicomplianceguide.org/pci-faqs-2/ Not specifically around this one issue but in terms of tell a company how it must handle cards for example. The OP is spot on, not necessarily 2-step, could be 2-factor or as appropriate but for those of us who expect better, much stronger authentication than username/passphrase is a must for a sensible starting point for authentication and subsequent signing of transactions on a site where people are transacting sums of money that constitute their RL income.
  8. The problem that you have there is that just about nobody would do that because it's ridiculously slow and tedious. What I did was spend a weekend learning UI and keyboard shortcuts. After that it all became pretty straightforward but I do understand your reason for asking but I doubt you'll find what you're looking for. Tutorial or not, if I want to size something, i'm just going to press S and not go through menus, same for G for grab and so on. Each of the common editing shortcuts keys is found on the menu anyway and usually what you see people do is maybe two more things after. A letter and a number. For example SY10 is going to S(ize) in the Y-axis, factor of 10. SZ5, Size Z-axis by 5 (negative numbers will shrink) GX G(rab) and only allow movement in the X-axis. Spend a weekend, it's worth it.

  10. To be fair, she didn't say "laptops of any sort aren't compatible" but rather "laptops of any sort often aren't compatible" I'd change compatible to "particularly appropriate" but the point was valid.
  11. /me snatches the abandoned baby and rushes it upstairs to the bath. Placing the plug in the hole, she opens both taps to full, smiling at the rapidly filling bath. In one swift movement she dunks the baby underwater, holding it until it finally drowns. Muttering quietly to herself she says "There! That saves the parents from a lifetime of misery!". She looks at the stunned people at the bathroom door. "What?" she says in a bemused tone
  12. LL won't respond here (well it's possible that Dakota *might*) but if there's a problem that you're having with MP, opening a support case is the usual and most effective method.

  14. Freya Mokusei wrote: gingerjohn wrote: did not realize this aspect to marketplace purchases versus in-world!?! next time i will do my purchases strictly in marketplace. lesson learned. Not so fast. The Buyer Beware passage Sassy linked is in the universal Community Standards agreement - it governs acceptable behaviour across all of Second Life, Marketplace and in-world. Nowhere here is as 'safe' as you've been imagining. Well since this thread has been brought back to life... the CS do indeed define acceptable behaviour, the difference is in who is responsible for the delivery, which was the original issue. Now, having said that, if the issue is a delivery failure and the purchase was from MP, there's recourse to be sought from LL who can investigate and redeliver. However, there's no guarantee that what they deliver is what was expected. i.e. Seller can choose to list a prim cube as a "Dance System loaded with 100 dances". LL will happily ensure the delivery of the object which was referenced in the listing. In fact, were I to create a brand called "Not a", I could then list that empty prim box, renamed to "Dance System" and list the empty box under my brand as "Not a Dance System". Ethical? Not exactly! Delivered exactly what was specified? Absolutely. Thus LL would not get involved in the content or quality, only to ensure that the referenced content was delivered via MP. Warning to all really, not Freya, Freya knows this already.

[12:25] Immabeggar Lorefield: kk [12:25] Inventory item offered [12:26] Immabeggar Lorefield: thanks but can i borrow 200 [12:26] Sassy Romano: but that's a bed no? [12:26] Sassy Romano: I just made that for you, it's a gift especially from Auntie Sassy [12:26] Immabeggar Lorefield: a bed is not the only thing bath tub [12:26] Immabeggar Lorefield: haha [12:26] Immabeggar Lorefield: please i will pay you back im just short of 200 [12:27] Sassy Romano: but you don't need 200 now, you have a cot? [12:27] Sassy Romano: bath tub...hold on... [12:28] Inventory item offered 12:57] Immabeggar Lorefield: so can i borrow it [12:57] Sassy Romano: I made a cot and a bath for you, those were your requirements no? [12:58] Immabeggar Lorefield: yes but can i can borrow 200l it not like im not going to pay you back [12:58] Sassy Romano: but you have what you need no? [12:58] Immabeggar Lorefield: yeah but i want a nursery im just short of 200 [12:58] Immabeggar Lorefield: i will pay it back [12:58] Sassy Romano: what else do you need? [12:59] Immabeggar Lorefield: sassy thank you for the cot and the bath but im short of 200l i will pay you back i want to buy a scupltie one [13:00] Sassy Romano: ah but you have to cut your cloth accordingly. See when I moved into my house, all I could afford was a plywood cube but I was happy and used that until I could afford a sofa [13:00] Immabeggar Lorefield: ok but i will pay you back [13:01] Sassy Romano: I think the point is being lost... prim baby won't know the difference between a 2 prim cot or a one prim sculpty no? [13:01] Immabeggar Lorefield: ok i ask can i borrow 200l if it is yes say yes if it is a no then say no [13:02] Sassy Romano: well... i'm saving you 200 here, this is a good thing. You said you needed it for a cot and a bath, well actually you said a nursery but we identified the actual need. I met the need with gifts and yet that's not working here? [13:03] Immabeggar Lorefield: like i said i ask for 200 [13:03] Immabeggar Lorefield: i said ill pay you back [13:03] Sassy Romano: and I met the need saving 200 bonus! [13:03] Immabeggar Lorefield: yeah but im not trying to save can i just borrow it [13:03] Sassy Romano: but what for? I don't understand? [13:04] Immabeggar Lorefield: i need it please i will pay it back [13:04] Sassy Romano: need it for?... [13:04] Immabeggar Lorefield: cause im trying to save up to 800 i have 340 [13:04] Sassy Romano: but that makes you 460 short? [13:04] Immabeggar Lorefield: yes [13:05] Sassy Romano: so even after 200 from me, you won't have enough [13:05] Immabeggar Lorefield: yeah but it is a start [13:06] Sassy Romano: but...you don't need to spend 800 now, cos you have what you identified as needing [13:06] Immabeggar Lorefield: a tummy talker is 800 [13:06] Sassy Romano: but you wanted a nursery not a tummy talker? [13:06] Immabeggar Lorefield: i want both [13:07] Sassy Romano: well if you can't *afford* both.... just like RL, what I want and what I can afford are two different things [13:07] Immabeggar Lorefield: ok well can i borrow 200l please i said a millon times i will pay it back ok [13:08] Sassy Romano: but you don't need it, it's only a want. Surely the cot upgrade can wait until Monday? [13:08] Immabeggar Lorefield: ok like i said i dont need a finacal consulted can i borrow 200l [13:09] Sassy Romano: did you see anything in Stiletto Moody you liked? great shoes eh? [13:10] Immabeggar Lorefield: yeah there nice [13:10] Sassy Romano: odd store to be in if you've got other things that demand money? [13:11] Immabeggar Lorefield: i bought shoes from there today [13:11] Immabeggar Lorefield: im just short of 200l [13:11] Immabeggar Lorefield: on a tummy talker [13:11] Sassy Romano: but wait....if you bought shoes today...why didn't you buy the tummy talker instead? [13:11] Immabeggar Lorefield: can i just borrow it i told you personal info about my job [13:12] Immabeggar Lorefield: i didnt know that tummy talkers cost 800 [13:12] Immabeggar Lorefield: i thought they were cheaper [13:12] Sassy Romano: is it essential? what will happen if you don't have it? [13:12] Immabeggar Lorefield: i will not be able to give birth [13:13] Sassy Romano: so in that case then it will wait until Monday yes? If it won't happen until you buy it, there's the solution! [13:14] Immabeggar Lorefield: nvm then
  16. SabaothMastema wrote: I have only ever accessed SL via a laptop on wifi. It's not a TERRIBLE experience. You just tend to become more resource wary. You just can't compare like that though. Totally depends on the hardware and other things being equal. Just as there's no problem whatsoever using wifi as long as the user is not trying so far away from the access point that the data rate is low and drops out. As others have stated, the disadvantages of laptops are the lack of easy upgrade and generally very poor disspation of heat. Other than that, no issue really.
  17. It used to be a purchasable add on. No idea whether that has since changed? But yes, as Pam alluded, they do have an active inworld group and failing that, contacting the creator is usually a first best option. In this case, that would be YT Recreant
  18. Anggy Rasmuson wrote: Ok... I wish that were true. But the texture change HUD kit that I have and know how to use does NOT work in the way you described: instead, it uses a unique ID for each HUD, and the way the scripts are set up (which I can't read or look at, because they came with the kit and are permission-protected) only allows one HUD per item with this kit. Ok, I can't see why they'd do that to be honest but if that's what they've done then seems a bit restrictive. So i'll re-phrase... *almost* any texture hud kit should work as long as they don't implement restrictive practices for no apparent reason! I'm unable to help beyond that though with your actual request, other than asking kit creators if they restrict to one hud or not (and why?). I wrote my own scripts and so can't help you beyond that but good luck, really shouldn't be too difficult to find one.
  19. It's ok, I think Rolig hadn't noticed that this wasn't the scripting forum where it's common to be asked "where do I find?" Rolig...back in ya' box!
  20. Nope, there's no protection at all. The textures are downloaded to each user's cache, the filename is the UUID. There's a nice downloadable cache viewer for anyone that cares to look. A while back, the standard viewer would even show the UUID of texture on prim objects in the texture inspector, not sure if that got changed? Good security is not based around obfuscation! SL has no security around texture whatsoever.
  21. Any texture change HUD kit should work. All your additional HUD will do is send a different set of texture UUID's. There's really nothing more to it than that.
  22. If you get nowhere, give me a shout as I already have such animations for cuffs in P5 and P6
  23. Both priority 5 and 6 is possible. Google for methods as there are different ways of getting there. The easiest in my opinion is via Avastar (and Blender) and just choose priority 5 there and then upload as .anim format. The viewer does allow higher priority in .anim format by default and if you use .bvh then there's a way to edit the config file and allow 5 and 6. I've not had success with that but have with Avastar and .anim format. You can do it via a timer but from my experience, you need two identical animations @ P4, uploaded so that they have different UUID's to SL. Then flip rapidly between them. It's clunky and not as tidy as a priority 5 and is still prone to momentary interruption.
