  1. Ya know, if you're so blinkered by ideology that even Republicans and/or Trump appointees who have condemned the President -- like Mitt Romney, Colin Powell, Liz Cheney, John Kelly, Bill Barr, Betsy DeVos (!!) and John Bolton (!!!!!!!!) -- seem too "lefty" for you, then you're probably not really susceptible to rational discussion anyway. And hence, not really worth my time. ETA: @RowanMinx -- Sorry, I might have been clearer. I was agreeing with your decision to exit, not suggesting that you are part of the problem!
  2. Yes. So did I. I think you said much the same thing: if someone is advocating hate and violence, they get ARed, and probably banned. If they are not, they don't. Seems fairly straight forward, no?
  3. This is becoming an increasingly surreal conversation. This shouldn't be -- isn't -- a conversation about "right versus left." At issue is whether it is legitimate to employ, or condone (tacitly or otherwise) a violent attempt to subvert democracy in the United States. The conservatives I know are as horrified by what happened on the 6th as I am -- because they believe in the principles of democracy. And a great many Republicans and Republican lawmakers, whatever you might think of their previous support for the soon-to-be-ex-president, are also horrified by what happened on the 6th, and by their party leader's role in it. The "What-Aboutism" and attempt to frame this as a left vs. right issue is a deliberate distraction, and a symptom of what is so wrong with politics these days. Seriously, wtf is wrong with some of you people? Why in god's name are you even arguing this? Hey, I'm on the left. If Antifa stormed the Capitol building in a violent attempt to kill or intimidate the duly elected representatives of the people into overturning an election through force, regardless of how questionable the results of that election may have been, you're damned right I'd be condemning them, leftists or not. This should be the shortest thread ever. Do you agree with the violent overthrowing of the democratically elected government of the US, or not? All in favour of setting an armed and dangerous mob on elected lawmakers, hands up! Let's see you! Frickin' bizarre.
  4. Too old? Pffft. They can have my striped stockings when they peel them off my cold, dead legs.
  5. I wasn't criticizing Doc at all, Selene. It's Adam who leaves me unimpressed. In fact, Doc and I are, together, a good example of people who can frequently disagree, as we have on a number of occasions on the Creation forum, and still get along pretty well. I don't think Doc would put me on ignore because we've butted heads sometimes, and I certainly wouldn't do that to him. Ignoring people with whom you disagree because you are too intellectually lazy to acknowledge and wrestle with different perspectives and views isn't Doc's way, nor mine. That would be Adam.
  6. It was someone else who noted that it was his birthday. Perhaps it wasnt? Does that matter? Does receiving a greeting when it is not your birthday relieve you of the responsibility for basic courtesy? Adam has posted, what, three times in this thread. He has added nothing that is relevant to the OP or discussion: his sole point seems to have been to gratuitously insult a large portion of the posters here. He's even threatened to post the names of those he dislikes. Sorry, Doc. I'm not impressed.
  7. A few weeks ago, when someone noted here that it was his birthday, I made a very genuine attempt to reach out, and sent him a congratulatory IM in-world. According to his profile, he was online at the time. Unlike Garnet, I apparently didn't merit a "thank you," or even an acknowledgment. Based upon what he has said here and elsewhere, I've pretty much concluded that, were I to discover that I wasn't on his "list," I'd demand an explanation as to why i was not.
  8. Yes yes yes, but you're not Canadian! Canadians are commies. Aussies are Karens. Silly.
  9. Who says we don't read them? In fact, I went quite closely through the abstracts of a couple of papers you cited regarding the use of HCQ across different nations, and gave you, I think, a pretty detailed rundown on why they were invalid. I don't recall you responding.
  10. Life is so much easier if you restrict yourself to seeing and hearing people you already know you agree with. Dialogue? Discussion? Different perspectives? New information? Pffft. That's for SJWs!
  11. Yeah, but why would you believe that? We're all commies and socialists anyways. Except Arielle, of course.
  12. What is most terrifying is that so many Americans apparently believe that Biden, Harris, and Pelosi represent anything like "The Left." In most countries, they'd be considered center or even center-right.
  13. Where? Where did you find an analysis that suggests that most lefties are reluctant to take the vaccine? And based upon what? The few friends on their FB feed? "What is written"? That's what you can come up with?
  14. Seriously, Arielle, where do you get nonsense like this from? Do you just make it up?
  15. This is surely the point. The rest of this thread is sort of weirdly off-topic. If someone in SL is advocating outright hatred and violence, they deserve to be permabanned. And the odds are pretty good that if you report that to LL, they will be. We had a poster here a short while ago who expressed the wish that a few forum posters catch Covid-19 and die. Oddly enough, she's no longer posting here. The notion that anyone who expresses a liking for the soon-to-be-ex-president of the USA should be banned is a non-starter: it's not happening on Facebook or on Twitter, and it's not going to happen here. Nor should it.
  16. I sort of wish that the forum moderators could tag misleading or dangerously false posts, the way that Twitter sometimes does.
  17. I get this, and I'm not about to tell you you're "wrong," or should feel differently. But I have to say that I like a really beautiful or thoughtfully-constructed shopping parcel. Some of these places are so interesting and nice in their own right that i grab an LM and return for pics. And I really appreciate a beautiful store -- there are so few of those. One men and women's clothing designer I sometimes buy from has laid out their store to look like a higher-end RL clothing store. It's really quite a lovely experience shopping there. It may of course be that my preferences run this way because I actually don't much enjoy shopping, but I do like exploring beautiful or interesting places.
  18. I definitely do not trust social media platforms, and most especially not Facebook. And yes, long term they are a threat to the free flowing exchange of ideas. But that's got more to do with their algorithms and filter bubbles than with "censorship." It's much harder to reach out to, and hear, people with different perspectives and ideas now, because these platforms insist upon serving up what they have already determined we want to see and hear. But that's not what this is about is it? Twitter and Facebook and the others host plenty of conservatives and pro-Trump voices. That's not what is being filtered out. The issue here isn't the exchange of ideas, which is good -- it's the incitement to violence and criminality that is the problem. And Parler was clearly making little attempt to do anything about that on their platform. You have the right to tell me why you like Trump. You don't have the right to tell others to assault or murder me because I disagree. As a side note, can I just point out that the freedom of Amazon, Google, et al. to determine the content on their own platforms is an extension of a libertarian free-market approach to culture? I find it rather ironic that it is those most vociferously in support of the "their platform, their rules" approach who are now pushing back most heavily against it.
  19. Marianne, you've really upped your game in terms of your photos recently. These are really wonderful. And your avi is kinda stunning. I'm all admiration.
  20. Hell hath no fury like a forsaken womens with your IP address. BTW, does it strike anyone as odd that he thinks that multiple former partners may be working in concert against him? Isn't that the plot to some straight-to-disk movie or something? Makes ya wonder, don't it?
  21. Yeah, but you had to read below the fold to get the good stuff about "forsaken womens." I think that should have been in the title too. It's important context!
