  1. As already requested, please advise the full message as just "64" means nothing to me. If the box disappears too quickly for you to copy the wording, press the PrSc key on your keyboard to take a snapshot of the screen immediately the box appears, paste it into an image editing program (PS, Gimp or other) then save it as a jpg or png and upload it to your post using Options/Edit and the tree icon or just type the text that's in the box and add it to your post. Also, please advise what viewer you are using and details of your computer. You can obtain these from the login screen > Help > About Second Life (or About > [your viewer]). Again, use Options/Edit to add this information to your post.
  2. Karen, your link is to the Inworld Employment section. I assume you meant this: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Release_Notes/Second_Life_Release/3.6.2.279321
  3. There is also a long standing issue where Nvidia drivers do not install correctly the first time but do the second time. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Graphics-cards/ta-p/700073
  4. The Nvidia GT 640 is compatible and should default to High. It has to be a driver issue. Remove all Nvidia drivers: http://www.nvidia.com/object/IO_13955.html Use Driver Sweeper to remove all driver traces or if nervous of it, try a manual solution http://www.overclock.net/t/1150443/how-to-remove-your-nvidia-gpu-drivers Then reinstall a current driver for your card and OS.
  5. Try a Character Test. Develop Menu (CTRL+ALT+Q) Select Avatar Select Character Test Select Male or Female Will return you to a default library avatar, then rebuild your avatar.
  6. Hi Penelopy. When did this start, with the latest version? Have you tried a different viewer? Does any message show onscreen when you get kicked out? Any possibility you could try SL on a different machine? I can't trace a similar issue (which isn't to say it hasn't occurred, I just can't find any reference) and we can't see new JIRAs now. As you have completed a clean install and new Windows install, it doesn't leave much to try yourself. If this is a problem with your inventory on the main server, Linden Lab Support would need to be involved but for that you require Premium membership. If you have that, submit a ticket or use Live Chat. If not, open a new JIRA and see if you get a response from LL. Perhaps it's a known issue. You can add comments using Options/Edit.
  7. Please provide details of your computer specifications. Does it comply with the minimum system requirements for Second Life? Could your firewall or virus checker be blocking Second Life from opening? Use Options/Edit to the right of your post to add additional comments.
  8. Well, if you're such a literary genius, I'm sure you'll figure it out. It would also help if you would keep to one thread and not keep opening new ones when they seem to relate to the same general topic. Try losing the patronising attitude too.
  9. You keep saying Linden Lab is writing one thing while meaning something else with no statements or facts to back that up. Second Life is owned by Linden Lab and of course it sets the rules and standards that it expects residents to comply with and of course there is some legal jargon. The Community Standards section covering the expected behaviour of residents is easy to understand though and really just common sense to a large degree. Due to the very nature of Second Life and the huge range of activities it covers, Linden Lab must retain some discretion on how it interprets some aspects of the CS. Not everything is black or white. Many people probably don't read the TOS or merely skip through it. Some of it may go over their heads and they still tick that they've read an understood it. If you can't understand what is written and need legal clarification, Linden Lab's Contact page is here http://lindenlab.com/contact EDIT: Just looked at your other posts and I see they have to do with maturity ratings and what sexually explicit means. No idea what post has been removed and the Moderators are unlikely to give a reason.
  10. We're residents just like you, not Linden Lab employees. If you want someone to go through the TOS with you line by line, you'd best contact Linden Lab or your lawyer. Nobody here is going to do it. Your post really would be better in the Forums under General Discussion although there was a very long thread on translating the TOS there a while back so have a read of it http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/SL-TOS-Translated/td-p/1357513 Personally, I have no difficulty in understanding the TOS and have never run foul of it in almost seven years. There are certainly some areas that allow Linden Lab some latitude but I'm not aware of any part where it says one thing and means another.
  11. Maelstrom Janus wrote: Its all very well quoting TOS when one of the worst things for disrupting my SL experience is ban lines... and those are maintined by lindens. If you don't want to see ban lines, then hide them from view. That option has been available for a very long time.
  12. TDD123 wrote: I think there's too much being too rapidly overconcluded here : the holographic universe - theory is perhaps getting confused with words like 'holistic' . This is NOT some New Age - propaganda. This is NOT about intelligent design. This is NOT Scientology rewrapped. It IS about our current perception of real physics and many will have a hard time figuring this out at all. We are talking about a theory and people here who correctly refuted Hawking's conclusion about black holes and the preservation of information ! Even Dr. Hawking himself confirmed it. It's a colission of scientific principles which could be as important as quantum physics itself. It's a scientific discussion indeed ,eventhough only theoretical, with more scientific basis and credibility than any statements here in this thread made by anyone ( myself included). Bluntly catergorizing this as pseudo-science is just, well, ... plain ignorant or stupid. :robotindifferent: To the OP : You are being , perhaps deliberately, misunderstood. I'm cutting you some slack. I find you raised a good topic . Apparantly many here are just not up to it. So the Stephen Davis video is not about New Age Propaganda nor is it Scientology rewrapped? It's about our current perception of real physics? Really? Are you not aware that Stephen Davis's book on which all this is based is titled Butterflies Are Free to Fly. A New and Radical Approach to Spiritual Evolution, which, as the blurb states, examines how quantum physics and recent scientific experiments are radically changing our understanding of life, our reality, and our spirituality – and giving us a new model for the way our universe works and the practical steps to take toward true joy and excitement and peace of mind. Sounds like it's exactly what you claim it's not.
  13. I have absolutely no idea as you haven't provided any information on what's happening. Use Options/Edit to add additional comments to your post. 14. Go to the Hair Fair or some other really busy lagged out sim and, on landing, you'll likely see so many mesh monstrosities that it could put you off wearing mesh for life. Transparent bodies, enormous mesh outfits, often horizontal stretching halfway across the screen, that have yet to shrink to fit avatars etc. Some do rez quicker than others and all will rez correctly eventually but it is nightmarish at first.
  15. Only a few minutes into the video and I come across one of Davis's so-called experts from my own country, someone who hit the headlines some years ago and it wasn't for his insights into a holographic universe. Yes, like I'd believe anything that 'expert' says: http://www.rte.ie/news/2002/0531/26280-maynooth/ Anyway, weren't the Geo 600 conjectures Davis talks about at the start of the video disproved by gamma ray observations by the ESA's Integral Gamma Ray Observatory?
  16. Refer to answer in your second question http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Avatar/All-avatars-gray-exept-prims-or-mesh-just-at-specific-lands/qaq-p/2105107 You need to update your Firestorm viewer to 4.4.2.
  17. Your viewer is the cause. The new server side baking causes avatar skins to appear grey on sims where it has been implemented unless you are using one of the latest viewers. The message 'Unable to upload asset' is also symptomatic of this. Refer http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/It-s-Time-to-Update-Your-Viewer/ba-p/2067673 I think Firestorm 4.4.2 is the latest Firestorm viewer.
  18. Works fine for me with Internet Explorer 10, even with the in-built AdBlock Plus activated. Also works fine using Opera.
  19. Like previous promotional offers, it's very limited and only applies to the first payment of a quarterly membership plan so a saving of just $11.25. If you are on an existing quarterly plan that falls due for renewal between July 26 and August 11, perhaps you could allow it lapse and then reapply. It wouldn't surprise me though if LL disallowed the discount in those circumstances as well as not giving another L$1000 after 45 days. This limited-time discount offer is available only for memberships on the Quarterly billing plan. Discount will be applied to the first quarterly billing cycle only, and all future charges will be at the regular Premium price; price will return to USD 22.50, excluding VAT where applicable. To qualify, Second Life members must have an active Basic account or create a new Second Life account. Discount offer starts Friday July 26, 2013 at 12:01AM (PST) and expires Sunday August 11, 2013 at 11:59pm (PST).
  20. All we can do is guess without details of your computer system. Please open SL to the login page then select Help > About Second Life. Copy/paste the contents of the window that opens into your post using Options/Edit. If the graphics card section only gives the card series, add in details of the actual model. Also, advise what if any message appears when the application crashes. It could be your computer is struggling to run SL and is overheating and crashing. It could be your router is one of those that doesn't like HTTP textures so log in-world then press CTRL+ALT+Q to open the Develop Menu and then click HTTP Textures to untick it. The application will then use UDP textures which all routers can handle. It could be you have a poor internet connection, wireless is not recommended. Provide as much information as you can.
  21. Can you run the latest official v3 viewer without crashing? If so, the crashing you're experiencing is solely a Firestorm issue and all the Support contacts are on the Firestorm website. if you have to update the 6770M driver, it's not a simple process and it's really HP's fault. I'm not going to tell you how to do this because I don't want to be responsible for messing up your laptop drivers. I'll just point you to some links and you can read them and decide what to do yourself. http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Display-and-Video-e-g-Windows-8/Updating-Radeon-HD-6770m-driver-to-11-12-or-higher/td-p/1659399 http://forum.notebookreview.com/hp-drivers-software-forum/682746-best-video-driver-ati-6770-a.html There are plenty of other references to updating the HD 6770M drivers if you Google it.
  22. Try clearing your cache. Open SL to the login page and you will find the Clear Cache button in Me > Preferences > Advanced Tab. Click it to delete the cache content on your hard drive. Then log in to Second Life in a quiet sim such as Smith and allow your inventory reload from the Linden Lab server. Click the Recent tab to get it going. Wait until your inventory is fully repopulated then check if your outfit now appears. You can add comments to your post using Options/Edit.
  23. Hi Muyami. Are you saying you haven't been able to log in for a year and only asking this question now? Yes, it's possible a corrupted/invalid character in a group tag can prevent logins, well the viewer will crash immediately on login. Linden Lab can fix this if you have Premium membership or you can get an alt to request the group owner to remove you from the group. Can you log in with an alt that is not wearing the same group tag? If not, it's unlikely to be the group tag issue. Can you please explain more fully what happens when you try to login and what you have already tried. I assume you have tried logging in to other sims. Use Options/Edit to add comments to your post. Include your computer specifications from login page > Help > About Second Life (or About Firestorm).
  24. This topic was discussed on the Forum yesterday and the day before. Have a read of this thread: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/No-more-temp-textures-snapshots/td-p/2097855
  25. You can't change your Username but you can use Display Names, which I assume is what you're talking about. The guide on Display Names is here http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Usernames-and-display-names/ta-p/700173 Perhaps you're trying to use a character that isn't on the "Allowed Characters" list or is a name that LL has decided is not permitted.
