  1. Hi Liza, You have the option of a free Linden Home or 512 sm. tier free mainland but you have to find and buy the land and a house to put on it, Linden Lab do not supply those. Of course you can buy a larger parcel on mainland if you so wish and the first 512 sm. is free of tier. You'll find links to all aspects of land purchasing here http://secondlife.com/land/purchasing.php
  2. Assuming the animations etc. are installed , usually you just left click the bed or pillow and the pose balls will pop up along with an onscreen menu. There should be a notecard with the bed so check that, also check that you have scripts enabled on your parcel. If the bed isn't working as described, contact the seller.
  3. As the usual solutions seem to have failed, I suggest you submit a ticket under Marketplace > General Marketplace Issues and see if Linden Lab Support can fix it for you. https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/
  4. Go to https://my.secondlife.com/settings/friends Click the gear wheel beside the green Follow and select Permissions.
  5. Hi Yvonne, welcome back to SL. I've no idea what 15.0.0.591 is. The latest version is 3.6.0.277516 http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/ Pink prims affected ATI cards and Nvidia cards to a lesser degree some time ago and updating the driver corrected the issue. Can you please post your computer specifications from viewer login page > Help > About Second Life using Options/Edit to the right of your post. What driver did you download? This solution should work too I believe but can cause a severe drop in viewer performance so a driver solution is best. Open Preferences->Advanced and check "Show Advanced Menu". Then open the Advanced menu and select the second to last item "Show Debug Settings". It will open a new window that has a drop down text box at the top, type into it "RenderMaxTextureIndex", it should auto complete it for you. Once you have typed it in there should be a description of the option and a text box for the value, set the value to 0. If you like the old viewer best (which will be no good soon) try the TPV Singularity.
  6. Try clearing your browser cache or use a different browser. Opera and Firefox seem to work better with the SL website than IE although IE10 works well for me. If still no luck or you don't want to install another browser, contact Billing Support: You could use Skype to save on costs if you have to call the tolled number. Have billing issues? Give us a call. Note that phone support is for billing issues only. If you're having technical issues, please use technical support. 7. There are only phone numbers for Billing Support, not General Support. For the latter, you need to submit a ticket. https://support.secondlife.com/contact-support/ Have billing issues? 8. Did you get her name? I've had a Linden Home for years and nobody has ever dropped by offering Maid services! Seriously though, locked doors are useless in SL. All someone has to do is teleport in or swing a camera inside and sit on something. I suggest you use the available land controls to prevent entry to people you don't want in your home. You don't need an orb, which can be annoying to people using the common areas between the Linden Homes. They obviously won't be ejected from these common areas but still get the orb messages. I would suggest you set up a group which costs 100L and needs you and at least one friend (or an alt of yours) as members. Groups require a minimum of two residents or will be cancelled by Linden Lab after 48 hours. Once the group is set up, set the land to group and restrict entry to group under Access. You can set Build to allow other group members rez items in your home or even set Home there without allowing anyone else do so. Also, you can set Privacy to prevent anyone outside your home from seeing anyone inside. Forget about locking your door. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Creating-managing-moderating-and-disbanding-groups/ta-p/700111 If you need help, send me an IM inworld and I'll pop over and help if we're both on same time.
  9. Presumably something to do with the VGA gaming tables and server created for SL by VGA Dawg (you can look them up on Marketplace). I have no idea how this operates but perhaps you're wearing something or something is rezzed on the sim.
  10. Perhaps its almost invisible as mentioned in this thread: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Server/Well-this-is-awkward-no-button-to-submit-credit-card-information/td-p/1956811 If still no luck, I suggest you contact Billing Support: Have billing issues? 11. Use of capitals like this is considered shouting and there is no need to shout when asking for help. Polite questions and please work better. Scroll down to the end to show you've read the TOS and you may be able to click Accept then. If not, clear your browser cache and try again. Restarting your computer may work too. If still no luck, use another browser. Opera and Firefox seem to work better than IE on the SL website.
  12. Sorry Delivrance but he's not abusing his authority and he has the perfect right to allow whosoever he wishes onto his sim and if he has banned you, so be it. He is the one paying Linden Lab for the sim and Linden Lab will not intervene in any personal dispute between you and the sim owner. There are thousands of sims in SL so best to find another one to hang out in. If you post copies of IMs, you'll be the one abuse reported.
  13. You can't just replace the Nvidia 525M with a new card as the 525M in Dell laptops is not a discrete graphics card with a card slot, it's a video chip soldered to the motherboard. Are you looking at a replacement laptop with Nvidia GT 750M graphics? If so, would be better to post details of the laptop for comments rather than just its graphics. Also, check out reviews online. The first Nvidia number is the series, the second number is where the model lies in the series, higher being better. Remember that graphics in a laptop is usually about one model down in performance to its desktop equivalent so higher than a 750M would be preferable.
  14. What are your laptop specifications? You can obtain these from the viewer login page > Help > About Second Life then copy paste the details into your post using Options/Edit or alternatively provide a link to the laptop with the exact specifications of yours.

    skins not loaded

Hi Blade. It may help people offer advice if you say what you have tried as saying you've tried everything really tells us nothing. I don't know what mutiable avis are so I assume you mean multiple. Please also advise your computer details from Login screen > Help > About Second Life. How does your avatar appear when a skin doesn't rez, a cloud, ruthed, fuzzy, invisible? Does everything else around you rez normally? If not wearing alpha masks, are you wearing multiple tattoo layers by any chance? If one skin works (does it only work on one avatar and not others or work on all) and others don't, perhaps it's a corrupted cache issue so have you tried clearing cache manually by removing the cache folder in AppData or even a clean install which includes removing all folders in AppData? Have you tried another viewer and if so with what result? Have you tried a Character Test from the Develop Menu > Avatar > Character Test? Have you tried the various bake fail solutions mentioned here http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/phoenix:bake_fail ? You can add comments to your post using Options/Edit.
  16. Intel says the 965 chipset was never designed to run on newer operating systems and it will not be releasing any drivers for Windows 8. See comments below. All Intel suggests is you try alternative Windows 7 drivers from its Download Centre but good luck with that. Probably best to do what Lindal suggested. http://downloadcenter.intel.com/SearchResult.aspx?lang=eng&ProductFamily=Graphics&ProductLine=Laptop+graphics+drivers&ProductProduct=Mobile+Intel%C2%AE+965+Express+Chipset+Family&ProdId=2800&LineId=1101&FamilyId=39 ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Intel has no plans to release Windows 8 graphics drivers for the following Intel Graphics Controllers. 17. Hi Melian, If you are a Basic member of SL, your avatar will never go extinct (unless SL ever becomes extinct itself that is). Linden Lab will not cancel your account just because you don't log inworld. Same goes if you are a Premium member as long as you keep paying the fees. If your Premium account fees fall into arrears and are not cleared by agreement with Linden Lab, it can and will cancel your account. So, don't worry about your account being cancelled if you're not able to go inworld, it won't be. Residents have returned after years away from SL and their accounts are still there for them.
  18. Yes, I've had friends say goodnight and seemingly log but if I subsequently check my friends list, still appear online. If I IM and say, oh, you're still online, the IM seems to trigger the correct offline status. For some odd reason, it happens with one friend in particular most times she logs and I don't know why.

  20. It's difficult to advise as you haven't provided any details on your computer system. Details are available from Login Screen > Help > About Singularity and use Options/Edit to add to your post. All I can suggest at the moment is that you update your graphics card driver and see if that corrects the texture problem. If that fails, contact the developers of Singularity: http://www.singularityviewer.org/ or join its in-world group: http://world.secondlife.com/group/4fa278be-b621-9447-0958-85af4b01cdab .
  21. Mesh clothing etc. uses alpha masks to hide parts of the body that would otherwise protrude through the mesh. It can look odd indeed if poking your camera under mesh skirts and so on as most of your body may have disappeared. If you mean the alpha mask is acting strangely and making half your body disappear even though it's not meant to be, then I've only come across one other recent instance of this and I don't think the cause was found. I'll see if I can find the thread. You can add comments to your post using Options/Edit.
  22. What viewer are you using? This seems to be affecting v1 based mesh enabled viewers as mentioned in this thread: http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/alternative-sl-clients/73098-crash-loop.html The solution I guess is to switch to a v3 based viewer unless the TPV developers take steps to fix the issue. You can add comments to your post using Options/Edit.
  23. Would be interesting to know. Linden Lab makes it patently obvious on the Home page that you can join for free.
  24. As mentioned before, open SL to the login screen and without logging in, select Help > About Second Life and copy/paste the information from the window that opens into a reply here. It's a pity to see you want to leave after spending money on Premium membership. Second Life is demanding on graphics capability and unless a computer system has a discrete graphics card rather than Intel or AMD integrated graphics, it's always going to find SL difficult. Integrated graphics are improving all the time but still far short of the performance offered by graphics cards. You could get by with spending even less on an entry level graphics card; you wouldn't get stellar performance but could still move around and enjoy SL at lower graphics settings. The official Knowledge Base and various help pages can be somewhat daunting but you'll always find experienced residents here and on the Answers section willing to help with any questions or problems.
  25. Choose another same way as you chose the first one. If it was a Meadowbrook home, it may very well have been reallocated within minutes of being abandoned. If not, the chances of the same home you owned being reallocated to you are remote given the number of Linden Home continents and homes. Linden Lab will not allocate a particular home and location to you, you take pot luck with the random allocation system but you can choose and abandon up to five times per 24-hour period as Ceera said. You can of course use your 512 sm. free tier on the mainland if you wish, you're not restricted to a Linden Home with Premium membership. You can purchase up to 512 sm. with your own money but the monthly tier is free. Drawbacks are that you have to buy the land, purchase (or build) your own house to go on it, the house counts against your 117 prim limit and there are no Linden Lab owned buffer strips between parcels. On the other hand, you have more controls on your land and house and you can buy larger parcels with tier depending on parcel size. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Buying-land/ta-p/700043 http://secondlife.com/land/pricing.php If you abandoned a 512 sm. parcel on mainland, ask LL if they will return it to you free. They probably will if you abandoned it by accident. Otherwise, you will have to wait until LL release it for auction or buy another parcel.
