  1. Forget the Nvidia card for the moment. Having looked at the Open Hardware Monitor stats, your CPU looks to be running very hot at 90 / 91C and is probably throttling back leaving you struggling in SL after so many minutes. Install CoreTemp and that will give you the TjMax temperature for your CPU and according to the CoreTemp instructions, your CPU should run no more than 20C below that (some sources suggest 20-30C. Time to check your CPU heat sink and maybe redo the heat sink thermal paste or install a better cooler. I used TIM Cleaning Fluid and ATRIX Thermal Compound when redoing mine. ARTIC is another recommended brand of thermal paste. You'll damage your processor running it too hot. Intel safe operating temperatures according the i530 specs are: Minimum/Maximum operating temperature 5°C - 72.6°C I have an i5 750 Lynnfield gaming chip which is highly overclocked from 2.7 GHz to 4.1 GHz and I don't get anywhere near your temps (stats below after about 20 minutes in SL at a very busy sim) but I do have water cooling. My temps are usually around late 40's-early 60's in SL. Far as I can recall, my system is set to throttle back if the CPU cores reach 72C or over for any period of time. The case has three fans including a large 200mm one at the side and the water cooler fan.
  2. By the way, there is something strange going on if you are getting the same fps on minimum settings as with ultra w/deferred rendering on 16x AA.
  3. Clear your browser cache and cookies then try again. Alternatively, use another browser. Older IE versions can have issues with the website pages here although IE10 works fine for me. Opera works very well with the SL website too. You can add comments to your post by selecting Options/Edit to the upper right of it and lets us know if that works.
  4. This issue is mentioned here but no solution given other that to wait and they will eventually appear (maybe after 2 hours!) http://code.google.com/p/singularity-viewer/issues/detail?id=858 Perhaps best to follow this up with the Singularity Developers.
  5. Hi Kitti, What viewer? What are your computer details including graphics card? Open SL to login screen, select Help > About Second Life {or whatever viewer you're using) and copy/paste the details in the window that opens into a reply here using Options/Edit to the upper right of your post. Add in exact graphics card model if the details just give the card series. If it's a pinkish/purple colour (the black puzzles me), you may need to update your graphics card driver, especially if an old ATI card but some Nvidia cards were affected too. Can you login to your Home location or just not teleport there?
  6. I'm not a Nvidia user but I suspect this could be a driver issue. You seem to be using the latest Nvidia driver, version 320.49, and there have been reports by a number of people on gaming forums that it is troublesome and crashing games. 314.22 is suggested instead as being a reliable driver but there could be good versions in between as well. Check on Nvidia Forums or perhaps someone using your card here with SL can advise. SL places a stress on graphics cards that few other games do. If that doesn't fix the problem, perhaps its an overheating problem with your computer (have you cleaned inside especially all the fans) or even a serious memory leak in whatever viewer you're using. What viewer are you using and have you tried an alternative? Your card is 1MB so should be able to run SL at the full Texture Memory Buffer of 512MB with no issues whatsoever. Download Nvidia System Tools, which includes the Nvidia System Monitor and see what your card is up to. Maybe the fan isn't working right. http://www.nvidia.com/object/nvidia_system_tools_6.05.html You could also try Open Hardware Monitor, a great free utility that monitors the hardware in your computer and you can easily see if any components are overheating or fans misbehaving. http://openhardwaremonitor.org/
  7. Please explain more fully what the problem is and add details of your computer system. Second Life usually installs very quickly. Does your computer meet the System Requirements for Second Life? https://secondlife.com/my/support/system-requirements/ You can add comments to your post using Options/Edit to the upper right of it.
  8. Try the solutions in this link http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/phoenix:bake_fail Although a Phoenix page, the same apply to all viewers. Hopefully one will work for you. What works one time however, may not work next time if it ever happens again. In addition, one solution not mentioned far as I know is to change singly and not all at the same time as happens when trying a library avatar or character test: 1. Bald base 2. Shape 3. Skin 4. Eyes You can add comments using Options/Edit to the upper right of your post and let us know how you get on.
  9. Try restarting your router/modem. Unplug it for a few minutes than plug back in again, restart your computer and attempt to log in. You can add comments to your post using Options/Edit to the upper right of it.
  10. Just logged in this morning to see you've now found the fix, which is great. That is a known issue with the current LL viewer but the Nvidia 7 series cards should be in the next release, hopefully. Regarding the Terrain Detail buttons being greyed out, this is not a bug, it's as the viewer should behave. Those buttons remain greyed out when Basic Shaders is enabled and the Option is set to High by default. If you untick Basic Shaders, you'll find you can now select Low or High but there is no reason why you would want to set it at Low. It's really only there for residents who need to run absolutely minimal settings as it replaces the ground texture with a low-resolution ground texture.
  11. It may be possible to offer an explanation if you post details of your computer but without them it's just a guessing game. Open SL to login screen, select Help > About Second Life then copy/paste the details from the window that opens into a reply here. The line of the graphics card will likely just show the card series so add in the actual model. Edit: You're using an old viewer btw. Second Life 3.6.4 (280048) was released on the 19th August and should be installed in view of Project Sunshine having been rolled out grid wide on that date..

  13. Hi Trina, Create a group (100L) which needs at least two members to keep it active. It's best to have yourself and an alt as owners so the group will never fall below the required two. Then you can add members as you wish and members can leave without your group disappearing after 48 hours. You don't have to deed the Linden Home to Group, in fact you can't. All you have to do is set the land to Group. In Group abilities, allow your GF set home there. You can also allow her build rights so she can rez objects there too. The group is also a good security method as you can restrict access to group members only in the Land Access options.
  14. Linden Lab only retains chat logs for 14 days far as I can recall, presumably an arbitrary time deemed sufficient to allow abuse reports be investigated if necessary yet keep data storage to a minimum. I imagine the files must be encrypted too or secured by some other means so only those who have a need to read them (the Abuse Report team) can actually gain access. Otherwise, it would be very loose security. Your only chance really is to try and retrieve the text files from your former computer.
  15. Well, that is the message given when you have received a hardware ban in Second Life so check for an email from Linden Lab. Look in your spam folder too just in case. Try another viewer. I've seen cases where a resident is unable to log in with the LL viewer but has done so with another viewer or if you have an alt, try that but don't create a new alt in an attempt to bypass the ban as that could lead you into more trouble if this is a real ban and not an error. You probably read that changing your IP address can bypass a ban (error or real) but that won't help if your hard drive is banned by serial number. There is nothing anyone here can do except to tell you to contact Linden Lab Support and submit an appeal. https://support.secondlife.com/contact-support/ EDIT: Just saw you posted earlier too. Please don't start another new thread for this issue. You can add additional comments to your post using Options/Edit to the upper right of it.
  16. People play pranks on others in real life, sometimes funny, sometimes not and sometimes they have terrible consequences. I guess pranks can happen in SL too if that is the case. They sound like a bunch of idiots if persisting with it though. Find new friends. One thing not mentioned so far. Is it possible someone has access to your computer and you have 'password saved' so all anyone has to do is log in and pretend to be you? Got a sibling who is a practical joker? Does anyone else know your password and could log in as you on his/her own computer?
  17. The main problem is that your computer has AMD 6530D graphics, which is integrated with the AMD Processor and uses system memory with 512MB dedicated to the graphics. It's DDR3 memory too, not the faster DDR5, which many mid and high range graphics cards use. Because it's integrated with the CPU, you cannot simply replace the graphics hardware in your computer but what you may be able to do is add a discrete graphics card if there is a spare PCIe x 16 slot available on the motherboard. If you're not sure by looking, check with the manufacturer or Google your system specs. Adding a discrete card will require more power so you will undoubtedly also have to upgrade the PSU to at least 500W for a mid-range graphics card. PSUs are not expensive items. A Nvidia GTX 650 1GB graphics card would do fine (a GTX 660 would be much better but is a bit more expensive and needs two 6-pin connectors and you may only have one spare). Increasing your RAM to 8GB may also help but I can run SL and Photoshop quite happily on 4GB. Crucial has a scanner to make sure you add the correct memory at http://www.crucial.com/systemscanner/
  18. VFS is Virtual File System and in SL, is used to store client-side assets apart from textures. Removing the Second Life folders in AppData Local and Roaming is the usual solution to the viewer loading process failing at Initializing VFS. However, as you did this and the problem continues, I suggest you have a look at this thread where the cause was due to left over graphics card drivers. Read the final sections of Sophia's post. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/VFS-initialization-error-continues/qaq-p/1591381
  19. Linden Lab does not recommend wireless connections as they are prone to all sorts of interference. Anything new in your house that could be causing this latest issue? Check too with your ISP if they have altered something. Have you tried simply rebooting your router? Can you run an Ethernet cable from the router to your computer instead as this will give a far more reliable signal? What is your ping time from your computer to SL? When logged in press CTRL+SHIFT+1. Ideally, your ping time should be under 200ms and when it gets out to 250ms or over, you're likely to experience problems with SL. Check also for packet loss. Anything more than a small fraction is likely to cause issues with SL.
  20. Have you updated your viewer to the latest version in light of Project Sunshine? http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/Project-Sunshine-Goes-Grid-Wide/ba-p/2148427 If not that, you'll need to provide more information, which you can obtain by opening your viewer to login screen and selecting Help > About Second Life. Copy/paste the contents of the window that opens into your post using Options/Edit to the upper right of it. Are you using a wired or wireless connection, the latter is not recommended.
  21. Hi Joab, Difficult to advise without details of your computer specifications. Open SL to login screen and select Help > About Second Life. Copy/paste the contents of the window that opens into your question using Options/Edit to the upper right of the post. This information will only show the card series so add in the card model within the series. If you know what Catalyst you're using (probably 13.8 if you installed the latest), add that in too although that can be determined by the Windows Graphics Driver Version info. Setting RenderMaxTextureIndex to zero from its default of 16 will likely result in a considerable drop in fps of around 25%/35% so just an emergency stop gap measure. It would be better to find a driver that fixes the problem. Phoenix suggest 12.01, a 20-month old driver, which seems a bit odd. They should be able to recommend a later driver than that. Far as I can recall, 12.4 worked fine for me and I now use 12.10, also working fine, although I'll probably update it again this weekend and see how it goes.
  22. I can't offer any reason for this but almost the same happened to me the other night. After already buying a couple of outfits at a Fair, I tried to buy a $1L gift from another seller and couldn't despite funds being available and showing in-world. I kept getting a message similar to the one you quote and just could not pay this resident. All I can suggest you do is contact Billing Support.
  23. I haven't a clue either and I used v1 for years. Please use Options/Edit to the upper right of your post to add comments explaining what you mean.
  24. Scroll all the way down as if you were actually reading it and see if you can then click the button. If not, and using a Third Party Viewer, install the official v3 viewer and try with it. If already using it, try a TPV, even a light viewer such as Radegast. Once you manage to access SL, you can uninstall the additional viewer.
  25. Dresden Ceriano wrote: I remember hearing that, in Firestorm, the point to point TP override is available because of a script in the bridge. I forget what LSL function it uses, but I believe it's not possible without it... so if you don't wear the bridge, you can't override a set landing point. In which case, it's not surprizing that you can't do it in the official viewer. I do wonder if someone still wearing the Firestorm bridge, while they're signed on in the official viewer, might still be able to do it. ...Dres Yes, it's in the bridge. In fact there was a request just this June to remove this from the bridge, which didn't get anywhere. http://jira.phoenixviewer.com/browse/FIRE-10718
