  1. Pick up a free empty Zhao II Animation Overrider at the SLURL below and you can use this to build your AO. It comes with full instructions. Enter the shop and it's in a box on the floor. The package includes a few different HUD variations. http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Donalbain/9/58/70 Best place to buy excellent but inexpensive animations is Kuso owned by daiz Papp where most cost as little as 10L each and of course you can try them all before buying. He also sells complete AOs but it's best to make up your own from the individual animations of which there are hundreds there to choose from. Prepare to spend a hour or so choosing! http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Kuso/227/236/218 It can seem a little daunting at first but it's really quite easy. Basically, you rez the Zhao II HUD on the ground, Edit and open the Contents tab then drag the animations you've bought into it from your inventory. Compiling the Notecard which tells the AO what animations to use for Walk, Sit, Stand, Fly etc. comes next and that's the trickiest part as you have to be exact with the animation names or they won't work. Then you just wear the Zhao II HUD and specify what Notecard to use (you can set up a few variations if you wish or just have the one Notecard). If you need any help, send me an IM in-world and I can send you a copy of a completed notecard I have so you can see exactly how it's done.
  2. As Venus said, you can manage your Friends list as you see fit and if your circle of friends operates a system whereby turning off online status indicates you don't want to be disturbed, so be it. Just don't expect it to apply to the SL world in general as it is considered poor SL etiquette. If you lose friends or cause ripples over it, you've only yourself to blame. It's really very simple to reply to an IM saying "Sorry, I'm busy right now, will get back to you" without anyone with you even knowing and if you're not able to do that, practice your typing skills. It just takes a few seconds. If friends persist in trying to establish a conversation after that, perhaps you should reconsider their 'friend' status. What I find amusing though is your belief that you're actually hiding your online status. If I was a friend of yours and I wanted to check if you were hiding your online status from me, I could tell within seconds if I so wished and it wouldn't be by sending an IM or checking Groups.
  3. That is a possibility Rolig, as is what Karen suggested. Whatever happened, I doubt we got or will ever hear the complete story.
  4. The viewer shouldn't make any difference. Suggest one of them create a box, name it Gift Card Box (so you won't get something just called Object) drag the actual gift card into Content and send you the box. Maybe that will work and you can rez the box, open it and get the gift card that way. If you don't get that, maybe they are not trying very hard to give it to you, if you get my drift.
  5. The folder will only appear if the new account has either logged in or the viewer has attempted to log the account in. Merely creating a new account will not create the folder. Opening the viewer and typing in a name, real or fictional, without even a password inserted, will create the folder in that name when the login procedure begins, even though it will fail if details are incorrect or incomplete.
  6. Something spectacularly bad or illegal in just 3 minutes from time of account sale to ban? Could someone do something like that and LL react with a ban in that short a time scale? There's more to this than we're being told.
  7. There is so much unsaid in your post. What "Place" exists in SL where "there are many Residents with the Note in their Profile, that they had buyed their Avatars from others"? Personally, I've never ever seen a Profile where the resident stated he/she had bought the account. Seems stupid beyond reason to advertise you've blatantly broken the TOS. From what you say, you both apparently took the time to open up the profiles of all the residents at this "Place" and read that many had bought their avatar accounts. Seriously? I'm in SL seven years and never once have I been approached to sell my account or an alt's. Yet here at this "Place", a request, actually not just one request, but a veritable "Odysee of Requests", is made totally out of the blue and your friend quite happily agrees to sell without even checking if it's allowed, which of course it isn't. If she didn't know it was against the TOS, why didn't you tell her as you were with her? You're asking us to believe this was some altruistic moment to help someone who wanted an avatar with a last name but I think most of us suspect it was a deliberate commercial transaction to make some money by selling an alt and it's backfired resulting in a ban. If the story you've given here is what your friend has told LL in the appeal, I'm not surprised LL is disinclined to reinstate the account.
  8. It's in the small print, well actually, not that small but can be overlooked. The $L1,000 is paid into your account 45 days after becoming a Premium member. You should begin receiving the $L300 weekly stipend on the first Tuesday after signing up.
  9. Only other residents here, not Linden Lab employees. I believe it usually takes about 5 working days, perhaps a bit longer at times. You can call Billing Support and they should be able to help. If your country does not have a toll-free number, call the long-distance number tolled number. Using Skype could save on costs. Have billing issues? Give us a call. Note that phone support is for billing issues only. If you're having technical issues, please use technical support. 11. I can't help with naming the club but what you could try is backtracking through your Teleport History in the Landmark Tab. If you know approximately when you were there, it would help narrow the list down.
  12. This is the link for the free trial version http://www.marvelousdesigner.com/marvelousdesigner/pricing/ but note what Peter says.
  13. You can download the free trial version yourself from the website http://www.marvelousdesigner.com/. If you mean something else that is illegal, this is not the place.
  14. Wow! Yes, Expect to see complaints about that landlord here in the not too distant future! :smileyvery-happy:
  15. Interesting. Same landlord as in this thread started by another ex-tenant, although the name was subsequently removed (apart from initial letters) in order to comply with the Forum guidelines. You should probably do the same as you're not allowed name and shame here. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/Items-returned-before-tier-is-expired/td-p/2249109
  16. Did you clear your cache after disabling HTTP Textures and then restart your computer? You say you changed tattoo layers but did you remove all tattoo layers and see what happens? You probably did but just checking. Are you seeing any packet loss? What is your ping time? Press CTRL+SHIFT+1 and check in the window that opens. You can add comments to your post using Options/Edit.
  17. Here is another good link http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/tutorials/54131-creating-well-proportioned-shape.html
  18. Some shapes are sold with modify permissions and some are sold no-modify. Presumably you have one of the latter so you can't edit it. I can't recall offhand but maybe the default Library avatar shapes are no-modify. You can create your own shape at no cost or you can buy a ready made one with modify permissions that you can tweak yourself. You usually pay more for one with modify permissions. Be sure to try the demos first. If you wish to create your own shape, here is a tutorial http://robin-makingstuff.blogspot.ie/?zx=a8f5c605f045826f

    Abuse

Hi Una, I can't offer any more advice than already given but just to let you know you can reply to the automated email you receive after submitting an abuse report. It is not from a no-reply email address. Most people do not realise this so are relying on Linden Lab taking action on the pathetic amount of information that can be squeezed into an original abuse report. If I submit an abuse report and can't fit everything I want in, I reply immediately to the automated email with the full chat history and attach additional photos if applicable. There is nothing therefore to prevent you adding information to an abuse report in this way although you will not receive any further communication and I can't confirm that Linden Lab abuse report team even read the reply but if it gives more information on an abuse they are investigating, I don't see why they would totally ignore it. The only time Linden Lab ever communicated with me after an abuse report was over a possible inworld fraud I reported and they wanted more details. I think the abuse team passed it on to the fraud team.
  20. I'm assuming Val added about 20% VAT which residents of most countries have to add to LL's fee. Don't forget though you get a weekly stipend of $L300 (about 66AUD) so the actual net cost is quite low.
  21. I posted details of the latest graphics cards in this post http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/A-Question-About-Graphic-s-Card-Ratings/m-p/2137093#M121656 The August issue of Custom PC (a UK magazine) contains a comprehensive 18-page test of most of the current gaming graphics cards. The cards were tested at 1920 x 1080, 2,560 x 1600 and 5,760 x 1080 and 30fps was considered the key rate to award extra points, this being the minimum for smooth gameplay. The cards were tested in real games, Crysis 3, Skyrim and Red Star Rising as well as Unigine's Valley 1.0 benchmark. SL's limited use of memory (512MB) makes it a little difficult to directly transfer these scores across as some of them are 2GB cards so they could be a little skewed in places but hope it helps. I did read a thread where the OP reported better performance in SL with a 2GB card than a 1GB one but I don't know how accurate that is. I'll just give you the percentages, which also takes value for money into consideration, and brief comments given. AMD Radeon HD 5750 1GB: 12% (Woefully underpowered and poor choice) Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 1GB: 10% (Underpowered - spend a little more on the GTX 660 for twice the speed) AMD Radeon HD 7770 1GB GHz Edition: 20% (Painfully slow and disappointing performance) Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti 1GB: 44% (Best low price GPU but that's not saying much - spend a little more on the GTX 660) AMD Radeon HD 7790 1GB: 41% (Mid way card between low and high end AMD cards but not great performance - better to opt for Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB) AMD Radeon HD 7850 2GB: 56% (Comprehensively outclassed by the Nvidia GeForce 660 2GB [in actual fact about 10% less] for similar cost) Nvidia GeForce GTX 650 Ti Boost 2GB: 67% (A weird card in Nvidia's line-up that isn't worth considering) AMD Radeon HD 7870 2GB: 68% (A great card with high resolution performance that competes with overclocked versions of the GTX 660 2GB but slightly more expensive) Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 2GB: 73% (Best value sub £200 card on the market considering price and performance but struggles at the highest resolutions) AMD Radeon 7950 3GB with Boost: 81% (Great performance across the board, capable high-end graphics card, decent value for money) Nvidia GeForce GTX 660 Ti 2GB: 75% (Second best to the GTX 670 and HD 7950 in a similar price bracket now) AMD Radeon HD 7970 3GB GHz Edition: 84% (Fantastic performance for the money and little to separate this card and the Nvidia GTX 770 2GB, prices now about the same, slight fps edge to the Nvidia) Nvidia GeForce GTX 670 2GB: 82% (Superb card with slightly better performance to AMD HD 7950, very little in it and similar prices) Nvidia GeForce GTX 680 2GB: 80% (Ferociously quick but supplanted by the Nvidia GTX 770 2GB) Nvidia GeForce GTX 770 2GB: 83% (Slightly better performance than GTX 680 and HD 7970 - best rated card of all and a superb choice) Nvidia GeForce GTX 780 3GB: 66% (Phenomenally fast for those who want to play everything at very high resolutions but very expensive) Nvidia GeForce GTX Titan 6GB: 66% (Now a Titanic waste of money in the face of the GTX 780 with only a 10-15% benefit in performance at 5760 x 1080 when overclocked, otherwise little difference) The Nvidia GTX 770 seems to be a superb card but if too expensive, Nvidia released the GTX 760 a month ago, which I believe is a replacement for the previous excellent GTX 660 Ti. Nvidia is continuing production of the GTX 660 for the moment so that again would be an excellent choice for SL.
  22. From http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/World-Map-and-Mini-Map/ta-p/700163 Tracking your friends You can track your friends' location inworld if they have chosen to allow it. Click the My Friends Online dropdown and choose the friend you want to find. The avatar's location appears on your map as a red destination marker. To allow a friend to see your location on the map: Open your friend's profile Click on the gear icon. Click Permissions. Select the See me on the map checkbox. Tip: It is possible to teleport directly to your friend's location by pressing the Teleport button. However, it is good etiquette to respect your friends' privacy by IMing first. Teleporting to another Resident's location unannounced is considered very impolite!
  23. Check location 0, 0, 0, in the sim as sometimes this is where items get dumped that the sim doesn't know what to do with. If not there and you've tried the usual possible solutions, as it seems you have, then unfortunately yes, the box is probably gone for good. Your last hope then is to contact Linden Lab Support but for inventory issues, rezzed inworld on non-rezzed in inventory, you need Premium membership. You can add comments using Options/Edit to the upper right of your post.
  24. What viewer are you using? Have you updated your viewer since Project Sunshine went grid wide? http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Featured-News/Project-Sunshine-Goes-Grid-Wide/ba-p/2148427 I noticed the lower half of my body being grey too a few weeks ago but I think this was with the pre-Project Sunshine viewer before I installed the new one. You can add comments using Options/Edit to the upper right of your post.
  25. Unfortunately, saying you've tried everything tells us absolutely nothing of what you have tried but to be honest, a clean install of the Second Life v3 viewer is about all you can do when the entire inventory disappears. As you've been in SL since 2006, I'm sure you know to try this but if not, do so and hopefully your inventory will reload from the server. If it doesn't, you need Premium membership as only Premium members can obtain help from Linden Lab on inventory issues. They are not on the list for Basic members. If a clean install fails. consider Premium membership on a monthly basis and see if Linden Lab can recover it.
