  1. I logged in just now, no problems at all. There's nothing posted on the Grid Status page as yet but keep an eye on it just in case it's an issue affecting some but not all residents. LL post details and updates for any major issues on that page. http://status.secondlifegrid.net/
  2. Another thought....have you tried disabling HTTP Textures? Some routers don't like them and will crash SL when loading new textures but will be fine on the older UDP textures. If you stay logged in once textures are loaded to your cache and only crash when you teleport to a new destination, it's probably a HTTP Texture issue. If you are crashing irrespective of texture loading, it's probably what I suggested earlier.
  3. Hi Valek, 1. Try clearing your browser cache. 2. Try another browser. Opera and Firefox seem to work better with the LL website than IE although IE10 works well. 3. If still no luck, contact Billing Support. Have billing issues? Give us a call. Note that phone support is for billing issues only. If you're having technical issues, please use technical support. 4. It may not be the viewer or your computer. What is your new Netgear router? Back in 2010/2011, there were a number of threads on Netgear routers, in particular the DGN 1000 models (and possibly the Netgear Wireless N 130 Router WNR 1000v3) as these were notoriously difficult to get working with Second Life. Residents were crashing within 2 minutes or so (sound familiar?). Netgear techs were willing to work with Linden Lab but I don't believe it got anywhere. Simply Googling Second Life + Netgear will show a number of the threads both on this forum and others. I haven't seen any similar threads for some time so assumed Netgear had solved the problem but perhaps not. Netgear should now be able to sort this out for you over the phone though. Some people found their own solutions, this was one of them, but I suggest you contact Netgear first before attempting any DIY solutions unless you are comfortable fiddling around with router settings. Log on to your router and choose ADSL settings on the left hand menu. Change Multiplexing Method from VC based to LLC based. This fixed mine with no other changes. If you are already set to LLC based, it must be something else.
  5. Hi Chad, If you did a clean install, i.e. uninstalling and also removing the hidden folders in AppData then reinstalling and that was unsuccessful in resolving this issue, you will have to try an alternative viewer. Install the viewer linked below and see if it works. If successful, you should be able to go back to your original viewer afterwards. http://www.firestormviewer.org/ Use Options/Edit to add comments to your post here to let us know how you got on or need additional help. Please do not start a new thread.
  6. I use IE10's built-in ad-blocker having selected the recommended Easylist Standard from the list of options, which uses Adblock Plus and it's still working fine but I notice the selection list page is no longer available so perhaps Microsoft is doing something with it at the moment.
  7. If you've been added to a resident list, it just means the owner has allowed you access, which is a privilege, not something bad. The person may have added a list of all acquaintances who may visit at some time without consulting any of them and there is no need for any owner to do so. A friend is unlikely to be upset by being on an access list but may very well be by being omitted if asked to visit and finds herself booted out the second she teleports in. Only the land owner can remove you but I'm curious as to why you want to be removed. Wouldn't it be easier to just not go there if you don't want to visit the house? Many home owners allow open access without the necessity for resident access lists at all although they may run ban lists. This is a link to managing parcels and as you can see, there is a section for Allowed Residents. If this access option is being used, the land owner can remove a resident by clicking the name and selecting Remove but it's not something you can do. If that's what this is about, simply ask the owner to remove you but it's likely to be taken as an insult if you are friendly with that resident. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Managing-your-parcel/ta-p/700113
  8. Czari Zenovka wrote: I'm having a number of issues, actually - after getting a new PC and downloading newer viewers the "Offline" indicator on profiles don't show up, my avatar mysteriously lost weight, and on one of the viewers anything I type in local chat on the UI doesn't show up. (You did ask if anyone was having issues. *Grins*) Congratulations on the new computer Czari, hope you enjoy SL a lot more now. On the local chat issue, you may have muted yourself in error although I thought LL had made that impossible but if it's a TPV, maybe.
  9. It sounds like what very occasionally happens to me and I've only noticed it the past couple of months. The camera only turns around the focus point and I can't even use the mouse cursor to do anything, even select exit to relog. I have to use the Task Manager to exit SL and when I relog it's fine. I thought it was my mouse acting up but maybe it's a viewer bug but if so, I have no idea what triggers it. What viewer are you using? Have you tried a clean install? http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231 Use Options/Edit to add comments to your post.
  10. Linden Lab seems to have given up on prior notifications as my recent 1st July quarterly payment was taken in a similar fashion but I was continuing with Premium so not an issue for me. Going back on previous quarterly payments, I don't think prior notification was given on the 1st January or 1st April either (although it's possible I could have deleted the prior notification emails and just retained the payment ones). If after contacting Billing Support, you find LL has changed its policy on notifications, please do let us know by adding to your post using Options/Edit.
  11. I'm somewhat confused as I've never ever come across a Linden Home disappearing and as only the décor is under your control, nothing you did could prompt this. Are you sure it wasn't the known invisible prim bug that caused the house to disappear? Some of my Linden Home goes invisible at times (never all of it however) but I right click on where the prims should be and it appears. The fact that you have obtained a new one does suggest something different happened though as you would have had to abandon your existing home to get a new one so maybe that is what you clicked. Where are the contents? Were they returned to you as a coalesced object in your Lost & Found folder? Please add to your comments using Options/Edit. Don't forget you have access to Live Chat if you have issues with your Linden Home.
  12. If it's what Griffin suggests, then, as he said, you can't, other than an appeal to the house owner to lift the ban. Use Options/Edit to the right of your post to add to it if you mean something different.
  13. Porky Gorky wrote: Nyll Bergbahn wrote: It's possible this high pitched whine is due to a vibrating inductor. I read one complaint where the person said it was only occurring when folding and the clock speed was way above the set boost clock. Normal gaming was fine. Can also happen at high FPS apparently. Perhaps SL is also causing this. Coil whine is another possible cause but I don't think this is what you describe. I suggest you contact the manufacturer (or supplier) as you may have to RMA it. This is possible, the card is overclocked. Would a vibrating inducter cause any damage long term? I agree that it's not a coil whine, i've experienced that issue before and this is quite different. According to the link I sent you via PM, no, it's not harmful to the card.
  14. Hi Squashy. Have you tried another viewer? Those in the previous thread who mentioned a viewer all said they were using Firestorm.
  15. Did you check the Lost and Found folder in your inventory as well as other folders? Check also coordinates 0.0.0. on the sim. You could also try a manual cache clearance as described here http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/fs_cache_clear Then, log in to a quite sim such as Smith and allow your inventory fully load and check it again. If you have Premium membership you can use Live Chat or Support for inventory issues, if Basic unfortunately you can't. Sometimes items just go missing and can't be retrieved.
  16. Madelaine McMasters wrote: Oooh, this is interesting. I figured Porky was describing fan noise that was above and beyond what other games produce. So there are actually reports of GPU power supplies whining? That's just careless design. Maybe it is fan noise but the issues I mentioned occurred with a GTX 670 so a possibility too. I've sent Porky a couple of links to read..For those who don't know, folding is where you use spare time/capacity on your home computer(s) for medical research (some take it very seriously). A monitoring program such as OpenHardwareMonitor will soon tell him if the fans are screaming at high revs!
  17. It's possible this high pitched whine is due to a vibrating inductor. I read one complaint where the person said it was only occurring when folding and the clock speed was way above the set boost clock. Normal gaming was fine. Can also happen at high FPS apparently. 18. You need to update your graphics card driver. Graphics Cards To find out what graphics card you have: a) Open SL to login screen and select Help > About> Second Life. The window that opens will show details of your graphics card. or b) Select Start Menu > Run In the command box type dxdiag and press ok Click the Display tab in the window that opens The top line under the section Device should give you the graphics card manufacturer and card series If you have a desktop with AMD (ATI) or Nvidia graphics card, use these links: NVidia: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx? AMD/ATI: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx Input the details of your card or use Nvidia's auto detect utility if a Nvidia card. AMD/ATI's auto detect utility is available here http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx In its Help page http://www.nvidia.com/object/drivers_faq.html Nvidia recommends installing the new driver over the old one but to avoid issues, most people recommend you do uninstall first. You do have to uninstall AMD drivers before installing the new one. However, it's very simple and AMD provide helpful videos on that link. If you have an Intel integrated chipset, use Intel's driver detect utility at http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?redirector_count=1& NB. If you have an old Intel graphics controller, please read this page as Intel are not supporting them with Windows 8. http://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-19647 If you have a notebook, you may need to download an updated driver from the notebook manufacturer's website, depending on the card. For AMD Mobility cards in laptops, refer to the links on this page http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/737-28041SupportforATIMobility.aspx AMD does supply generic Mobility drivers for laptops with some restrictions and warnings. Refer http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx For Nvidia cards in notebooks, Nvidia provide drivers from this link http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html
  19. Sounds like the resident was playing games with you and hadn't actually blocked you but just went into busy mode with that message. If a resident blocked you, your IM would not have reached that person to trigger a busy response. I can't figure out why you would want a system that told another resident that you had blocked him/her. Edit: I should add that anyone who IMs a resident in Busy Mode will receive the Busy Mode message, you can't target a particular avatar with a specific message.
  20. Have a read of this link and see if you've tried everything http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/phoenix:bake_fail (applies to all viewers not just Phoenix). Try also changing one at a time and not by dragging a folder of items onto your avatar: 1. Bald base 2. Shape 3. Skin 4. Eyes It's happened to me that neither a character test nor dragging a folder with a default avatar onto mine (both of which changed the eyes) failed to resolve the cloud issue but changing eyes separately worked instantly. What works for one person may not work for you and what works for you this time may not work if it ever happens again. Don't forget to check your internet connection too. Soon bake fails like this will be a thing of the past when Linden Lab changes to server side baking on the 9th July.
  21. Hi Will. Try the LL viewer and see if ok with it. If so and it's an issue with FIrestorm, probably best to contact the people who created the viewer or at least their support team http://www.firestormviewer.org/support/
  22. Other than perhaps contact the Fraud number (see 9 below) and see what the support team says, I'm not sure what else you can do as it's not your account. Have you any other way to contact her and let her deal with it? What she should do is: What to do if your account is compromised Your account may have been compromised if: You can't access your account. You suddenly notice a reduced available balance on the payment source you have on file. If this happens, contact us immediately! Here's what to do: Go to the Second LIfe Help page and log in if you can. If you can't access your account, use the Forgot your login information? link on the right to recover your username and reset your password. Then log in. On the Second LIfe Help page page, click the Contact Support link on the right. On the next page, click Submit a a Support Case form. Under What type of problem are you having?, select Account Issue. A second dropdown appears. Under Account Issue, select I believe my account has been compromised. Fill in the rest of the fields as directed. Click Submit. Check your email for your case number. Call our fraud number: 800-860-6990. Once you do this, Linden Lab will place your account on hold and investigate the relevant transactions. This may take a few days. Once we have concluded the investigation, we'll send you an email explaining our conclusion and the action we will take. Note that all transactions involving Linden dollars are subject to Linden Lab's Terms of Service. Tip: Even if you are able to log into your account, we recommend that you change your password immediately to something secure and unique. Changing your password regularly is one good way to protect the safety of your account. For information on how to change your password, see the How to change your password section of this article.
  23. Use Add for the second alpha mask instead of Wear. Wear will displace the first alpha.
