  1. She can have all the disclaimers she likes but it's what the TOS says that counts as far as LL are concerned. If someone lodges an Abuse Report for sharing an IM without consent, that disclaimer is worth a big fat zero. Nyll
  2. It is not a breach of TOS if posted on a blog outside Linden Lab server space. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Someone_in_Second_Life_is_distributing_chat_logs_within_Second_Life_or_on_the_Second_Life_forums Nyll
  3. Hi Olsin! Your conversation looks perfectly harmless to me and there is no harrassment in my opinion. To answer your other question, yes she can post your comments in an external blog. It is only a breach of TOS if it is done within the confines of Second Life. Nyll
  4. Is what you mean by buggy that the AGP Aperture memory (system RAM) shows up as Graphics Card memory? I reset the AGP Aperture BIOS to 256MB from 128MB a while back but whether I have it at 32MB, 64MB, 128MB or 256MB it doesn't affect the 512MB shown in ATI Catalyst or Sys Info after restarts. I've reset it to 128MB as that should be high enough. CPU-Z says I have a 512MB card and graphics AGP 8x supported. SiSoftware Sandra says I have a 256MB card and current transfer rate of 8x too. I'm not really any the wiser! Anyway, thanks Ansariel and Steve for your assistance. I'm not going to worry too much about it as Second LIfe is running reasonably well considering my system is nearly 6 years old (except for the graphics card). Nyll
  5. Thanks for that explanation Ansariel. I would assume ATI Catalyst is capable of detecting one of its own units correctly so maybe it is a 512MB card. It would explain why my computer is running so hot when in Second Life. I'll try and find a utility that checks graphic card memory. Nyll
  6. My System Information tool says I have an ATI Radeon 512MB graphics card, so does the ATI Catalyst Control Centre. This is very strange as I purchased and installed a ATI Radeon X1550 256MB AGP graphics card. Second Life is detecting 512MB and has set the Hardware Settings Texture Memory to 512MB, too high if I really only have 256MB. Either ATI supplied a 512MB card by mistake (there is a Radeon X1550 512MB AGP but not by the same manufacturer) or my system is erring. Is that possible? So my question is: does SL detect actual memory or does it take it from what ATI Catalyst or System Info says? Nyll
  7. Most textures sold in Second Life are sold full perm. People who buy them can use for personal use or for creations they make to sell. The usual proviso by the texture seller is that the textures themselves cannot be resold. If you want to make textures for personal use only by those who buy then make that clear when selling them. Actually you won't have to worry about people using your textures for creations for sale as nobody will buy them under those conditions anyway.
  8. You are merely applying the texture to the prim and it's the prim permissions that count. Nyll
  9. Hi! No, the no-mod texture will not make the prim no-mod. The permissions you set for the prim determine what the next owner can do. Nyll
  10. You don't have to be online initially to clear your cache. Open SL to login screen. Select Edit>Preferences>Network Tab>Click Clear Cache button. Close down SL then open again and log in. Your inventory will take a little while to load. Clicking the recent items tab soon as you log in will get the inventory to start loading quicker than just waiting. I looked at the photos you sent me. Looks like you're partially derezzing then rezzing fully again but why certain parts every time I have no idea. Perhaps it is a cache issue. Perhaps it's your graphics card. Nyll Message was edited by: Nyll BergbahnI see Ellla has just provided more things to try. Good luck!
  11. Just a random thought..are you sure you are not wearing something that could be causing this? Perhaps a faulty AO. Nyll
  12. Hi Evangeline! Have you tried uninstalling and reinstalling Second Life? Follow the procedure here as a simple uninstall/reinstall is not sufficient. You have to delete the temporary files (such as cache) and settings files as indicated. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/How_do_I_fully_uninstall_and_reinstall_Second_Life%3F Have you tried a third party viewer such as Emerald to see if the effect is duplicated on that viewer too? I know you sent me pics. I should be inworld later to look at them but I have never seen what you describe before. Nyll
  13. Hi Evangeline! Are you by chance using the Emerald viewer with the breast enhancer activated? That has been known to cause some weird effects but usually holes in the avatar and spikes rather than what you describe. Have your tried resetting your avatar? ctrl+alt+D to show the Advanced Menu if not already on view. Select Advanced>Character>Character Tests>Test Female. Be sure to remove all clothes, hair and attachments such as AO's etc when doing this as it returns you to newbie status. Then wear your normal shape, skin, clothes, attachments etc. Nyll
  14. Hi glenn! This thread seems very like what you're experiencing. Hope you find the answer there. https://blogs.secondlife.com/message/55215#55215 Nyll
