  1. Read Rolig's excellent answer to a similar question in this thread: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/I-am-getting-a-DNS-error-and-have-done-all-the-suggestions-and/qaq-p/2168307 You can add comments to your post using Options/Edit.
  2. Try the solutions in this link http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/phoenix:bake_fail Although a Phoenix page, the same apply to all viewers. Hopefully one will work for you. What works one time however, may not work next time if it ever happens again. In addition, one solution not mentioned far as I know is to change singly and not all at the same time as happens when trying a library avatar or character test: 1. Bald base 2. Shape 3. Skin 4. Eyes Try those four first before any other possible solutions. You can add comments using Options/Edit to the upper right of your post and let us know how you get on.
  3. Phil Deakins wrote: Apart from outright dishonesty, what possible reason is there for anyone to use voice-morphing software? Role Playing and non-human avatars. I'm sure there are other uses.
  4. I'm a Premium member and I have no desire whatsoever to subsidise your use of voice morphing as Linden Lab has to charge for it. It's used by a limited number of residents of which I'm not one. Personally, I don't even know anyone who uses it, Premium or Basic members. Voice morphing is done at your computer, so there is nothing to stop you using the Screaming Bee software. http://www.screamingbee.com/ http://www.screamingbee.com/support/morphdoc/MorphSecondLife.aspx
  5. My bank once credited my account with €10,000. Unfortunately, I didn't take the money and run and the bank took the money back after a couple of days saying it was a mistake. Hope your good fortune is more lasting.
  6. This came up earlier this year: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/General-Discussion-Forum/Unable-to-collect-prize-from-certain-L-lottery/td-p/1972233
  7. There have been some threads recently on this issue with a memory leak in the latest LL v3 viewer affecting some people but the cause is not apparent and it's clearly not affecting most residents. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Second-Life-Viewer/Second-Life-3-6-4-280048-Aug-19-2013-21-45-32-Second-Life/m-p/2175105#M21057 Open up a new JIRA and see if you get any comments from Linden Lab.
  8. It could be what Freya is alluding to when she asked if you have the preference set to your browser and using Firefox. It may be the cause or your firewall/virus scanner having an issue with some Firefox plugin. Google Firefox freezes or freezing and you'll see pages of recent topics.
  9. I've never seen that happen either but then I've never looked for anomalies like that. What viewer are you using and does it occur with other viewers as well?
  10. Try the solutions in this link http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/phoenix:bake_fail Although a Phoenix page, the same apply to all viewers. Hopefully one will work for you. What works one time however, may not work next time if it ever happens again. Likely not a network issue if your alt is ok. In addition, one solution not mentioned far as I know is to change singly and not all at the same time as happens when trying a library avatar or character test. Try these first. 1. Bald base 2. Shape 3. Skin 4. Eyes You can add comments using Options/Edit to the upper right of your post and let us know how you get on.
  11. Did you try a rebake (CTRL+ALT+R)? Even a relog can sort issues like this. If no luck with that, clear your cache from Preferences > Advanced then restart your computer and log in again to a quiet Linden sim like Smith. Allow your inventory reload before doing anything. If that does not work, a Character Test usually sorts out clothes that won't come off. Press CTRL+ALT+D to open the Develop Menu > select Avatar > Character Test > Test Female. This will reset your avatar to a default Library avatar. Then rebuild your avatar with your own shape, skin, eyes, hair, clothes etc.
  12. The advice to refrain from rezzing no copy items is to prevent you losing them during the maintenance period, not for any other reason. Try the solutions in this link http://wiki.phoenixviewer.com/phoenix:bake_fail Although a Phoenix page, the same apply to all viewers. Hopefully one will work for you. What works one time however, may not work next time if it ever happens again. In addition, one solution not mentioned far as I know is to change singly and not all at the same time as happens when trying a library avatar or character test (you may have tried one or two of these already going by what you say): 1. Bald base 2. Shape 3. Skin 4. Eyes I would be inclined to try those four first before anything else. It has to be something simple rather than a network issue if your alt is ok. Did you clear cache by physically removing the second life folders in AppData or by pressing the button in Preferences. If the latter, delete the cache manually. You can add comments using Options/Edit to the upper right of your post and let us know how you get on.
  13. If you have paid for the item as a gift and it hasn't been delivered, contact the vendor owner by notecard or IM (check profile or shop to see if there is a preference listed). Include details of the transaction taken from your Dashboard. If you are merely having difficulty buying it as a gift but no money taken yet, you should contact the vendor owner.... or simply transfer the Lindens to your alt and have your alt buy the item.
  14. I don't know if Aston's reply was to another question or she's misunderstanding yours. I think what you're trying to say is that you paid €25 for Lindens but didn't receive them. I suggest you contact Billing Support. It's open 24/7 and there is a free phone number for Germany. https://support.secondlife.com/billing-support/ EDIT: If you wish to explain in more detail or clarify exactly what you mean, you can add comments using Options/Edit to the upper right of your post. Use German if you wish.
  15. I'm as mystified as Karen. You can only delete an account via your Dashboard. You can only change your Password via your Dashboard. Neither of these can be done within the viewer. Allowing multiple viewers is a simple tick box in Preferences > Advanced. I have no idea how you delete an entry for your avatar or what trash can icon you're referring to that removes login information. What I surmise you did is untick the Remember Password box and now you can't recall the correct password to log in with that account. Whatever you did it's not Linden Lab's fault and it's not a viewer issue. Follow Karen's advice to recover your password (or avatar name if that's the case).
  16. Possibly due to a poor wireless network connection. This is known to cause double chat and double monetary purchases. Wireless connections are not supported although many people use successfully, including me at the moment. If you have a poor connection, use a wired connection instead or if you can't, talk to your wireless network provider as you are suffering packet loss or perhaps seek a new provider. Another possibility is that you have the language translator on in Preferences > Chat. > Translation
  17. The current 8xxx OEM series of cards are rebadged 7xxx series cards (or possibly as I've read, the 8470 is a rebadged HD Radeon 6450 OEM card) so not new cards, although they have a higher series number. It's a 1GB card with DDR5 memory but all the reports suggest it's a low end OEM card and not great for gaming. I suggest you do some googling on it and make your mind up. There is no comparison between it and Val's much better card but I expect it would run SL at low to medium graphics level. What I foresee as an immediate problem is that it is not on the current gpu_table so SL won't recognise it. It's possible Firestorm has it in its gpu_table in which case you can switch the text files. As it's out for some months now, hopefully someone using it can advise further.
  18. Now you just have to find out why it's affecting some people's systems and not others! I have no idea. I suggest you open a JIRA and see if you get any comments about it already being investigated or if LL intends to replace this version soon.
  19. I've no idea what a 64-bit 084 update is. All viewers are 32-bit although they will work fine on 64-bit Windows OS. They install into the 32-bit Program Folder. You say strange inventory behaviour but no details so it's pretty difficult to help with no information to go on. You can add information using Options/Edit to the upper right of your post. Personally, I never use the automatic viewer updates and have Preferences set to manual updates. When a new viewer version is released I uninstall the old and then download and install the new one. If an auto update has screwed up your viewer, try a clean install. Restart your computer before installing the new SL application. Your inventory will be reloaded from the LL server. http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/How-to-uninstall-and-reinstall-Second-Life/ta-p/1375231
  20. Log in to another sim or wait a while. This is Rolling Restart day so sims go offline and then online again. [uPDATED] Rolling Restarts Main Channel Posted by Status Desk on September 4th, 2013 at 05:55 am PDT [uPDATED 5:55 am PDT, 4 September 2013] Rolling restarts for the main Second Life server channel are now in progress. [postED 11:55 pm PDT, 3 September 2013] We will be performing rolling restarts for regions on the main Second Life server channel on Wednesday, September 4, beginning at approximately 5:00AM PDT. Please refrain from rezzing no copy objects, making inworld L$ transactions and remember to save all builds.
  21. Hi Jill, Best course of action is to contact Billing Support. Details of how to are here https://support.secondlife.com/billing-support/ Billing Support is open 24/7 and they should be able to help you sort this out. Edit: Use Skype to save costs if no free phone in your country and you have to call the tolled line.
  22. It only applies to the Second Life world and website under Linden Lab's control. If conversations are shared outside of those, you need to take it up with the Administrators of whatever websites it appears on and of course you may need to take legal advice if necessary. Edit: This is the relevant sentence in Community Standards: All Second Life Community Standards apply to all areas of Second Life, the Second Life Forums, and the Second Life Website.

  24. Just in case you're referring to a Linden Home, it's done via the control panel beside the door. Click it and it opens a web page allowing you select various home options. Click Home Detail Textures and scroll down until you see Windows. Click it and the options appear.
