  1. I don't know what issues you've seen or are referring to. I'm on Answers almost every day and haven't read anything out of the ordinary lately or experienced any issues inworld. Can you please elaborate. Linden Lab does post details of ongoing maintenance on its Grid Status page http://status.secondlifegrid.net/
  2. You can't force a vendor for a refund or redelivery. Some stores do have separate redelivery terminals but if not, your only hope is to continue communication with the vendor owner or support staff. Do remember that it is a holiday period and people may still be away or the owner could be ill. A little patience for a few more days and your problem may be solved. If you allow more time and still no response, unfortunately there is nothing you can do. Linden Lab will not get involved.
  3. I'm trying to recall what was there when I changed my card not so long ago and I think there was a Save Details or Submit button. You may have to scroll down. First make sure your credit card meets Linden Lab's approval. Refer to this link: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Billing/ta-p/700037 One option you could try is to Buy Lindens from the Dashboard and with no payment method on file, at some point in the process you will be asked to add payment details. If nothing works, contact Billing Support and the staff there will sort it for you. To save phone costs, you could use Skype for the tolled long-distance number if you don't live in a country with a toll-free number. Have billing issues? Give us a call. Note that phone support is for billing issues only. If you're having technical issues, please use technical support. Billing support phone numbers Toll-Free (US/Canada) 800.294.1067 Long-Distance 703.286.6277 Our Billing team is available 24 hours a day, seven days a week. 4. Yes, you can make changes to the decor, although what you can do is limited. You'll find the Control Panel just inside the hall door. Click it and it should load a web page with the various options shown. Here is the Knowledge Base article on Linden Homes including details on the Control Panel and decor options. If for some reason the control panel gives an error (it does happen occasionally) contact Live Chat https://support.secondlife.com/start-chat/ .
  5. I don't know exactly why this would happen after a recent upgrade but presumably some change is affecting your graphics card. I would suggest you update your graphics card driver - refer below. If you need to add comments or request additional help, use Options/Edit to the right of your post. Having details of your graphics card and viewer used would help greatly, you can obtain these from opening your viewer to login screen and selecting Help > About Second Life and copy/paste the details in the box that opens. To find out what graphics card you have: a) Open SL to login screen and select Help > About> Second Life. The window that opens will show details of your graphics card. or b) Select Start Menu > Run In the command box type dxdiag and press ok Click the Display tab in the window that opens The top line under the section Device should give you the graphics card manufacturer and card series If you have a desktop with AMD (ATI) or Nvidia graphics card, use these links: NVidia: http://www.nvidia.com/Download/index.aspx? AMD/ATI: http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/Pages/index.aspx Input the details of your card or use Nvidia's auto detect utility if a Nvidia card. AMD/ATI's auto detect utility is available here http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/auto_detect.aspx In its Help page http://www.nvidia.com/object/drivers_faq.html Nvidia recommends installing the new driver over the old one but to avoid issues, most people recommend you do uninstall first. You do have to uninstall AMD drivers before installing the new one. However, it's very simple and AMD provide helpful videos on that link. If you have an Intel integrated chipset, use Intel's driver detect utility at http://www.intel.com/p/en_US/support/detect?redirector_count=1& NB. If you have an old Intel graphics controller, please read this page as Intel are not supporting them with Windows 8. http://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-19647 If you have a notebook, you may need to download an updated driver from the notebook manufacturer's website, depending on the card. For AMD Mobility cards in laptops, refer to the links on this page http://support.amd.com/us/kbarticles/Pages/737-28041SupportforATIMobility.aspx AMD does supply generic Mobility drivers for laptops with some restrictions and warnings. Refer http://support.amd.com/us/gpudownload/windows/Pages/radeonmob_win7-64.aspx For Nvidia cards in notebooks, Nvidia provide drivers from this link http://www.nvidia.com/object/notebook_drivers.html
  6. Hi Zandi. It means payment will be taken every three months, in other words, for each quarter of the year. It does work out more expensive at $22.50 every 3 months instead of a single annual payment plan of $72. Local VAT may be added depending on what country you live in no matter what payment term you choose. For example, I live in Ireland so VAT is added giving me a quarterly payment of $27.67. However, you will receive a one-off payment of L$1,000 after 45 days and a weekly stipend of L$300 (paid Tuesdays). Note you will not receive any prior notifications of when the quarterly payments will be taken, just an email the day after payment is taken. The due date for the quarterly payments will be three months to the day from when you took out Premium membership. So if that was today, the 29th December 2013, the next payment will be taken on the 29th March 2014 and so on.
  7. You're welcome. Hopefully that will solve it but if not, do open a new question with a link to this one and perhaps others can suggest alternative things to try.
  8. Are you saying you can see your Profile but not others? If you can't read any Profiles, check that Accept cookies is ticked in Preferences > Setup and that your firewall/virus program is not blocking SLPlugin. You can add comments to your oiriginal post by clicking Options/Edit.
  9. He needs to contact Support and prove he is who he says he is. Without trying to login, he should go here https://support.secondlife.com/create-case/ and submit a ticket. He will undoubtedly be asked the answer to his security question at some point but that shouldn't be a problem.
  10. This happens occasionally and can often fix itself after a few days, perhaps after the weekly sim restarts. If the issue perists, then use Live Chat accessible here https://support.secondlife.com/start-chat/ Note limited opening hours.
  11. If rezzing a new truck doesn't solve whatever problem you seem to have, sending an IM or notecard to the creator of the GB7 would seem to be the best course of action.
  12. Download Second Life from http://secondlife.com/support/downloads/ or if you were using a TPV, from it's website, and install the application to your computer. Then login as usual. Your username and inventory are held on Linden Lab's servers, not your computer, and everything will still be there for you. You will have lost your viewer settings so you will need to reset these if any changed from default and any chat history will be gone unless you saved the text files prior to reformatting. Otherwise, that's it. Go back to enjoying your Second Life as CaptainJack Grauman.
  13. I can't recall this ever happening to me but it seems physics layers can interfere. Are you wearing one? Does a relog fix the issue? Have a read of this thread and see if applies to you: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Your-Avatar/Solved-Strange-shape-texture-mapping/td-p/2370275
  14. Yes, if you wish. Open your Dashboard and select Account > Billing Information. Click the X opposite your Saved Payment Methods and confirm. If you wish to purchase more Lindens, you'll have to add it again though.
  15. Merry Christmas and a very happy New Year Rolig and to everyone else on Answers!
  16. There is another possible solution as detailed in this SLU thread and it's the only incidence of this solution I've seen so try the full manual uninstall first. Read through this thread and the solution the OP found is in the last post. However, it's likely deleting all the XML files was the solution and not adding Google DNS. http://www.sluniverse.com/php/vb/general-sl-discussion/72965-getting-we-would-unable-decode.html Now, if you want to try adding Google DNS, refer here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Everything-Else/DNS-do-not-resolve-the-host-name/qaq-p/1296247
  17. :smileyvery-happy: thanks! It's impossible to remember everything that goes through Answers and you answer so many. There is another possible solution which I'm posting now.
  18. Quite a few threads on the same issue have appeared over the past year or so, mainly from Firestorm users but one comment suggests it was occurring on LL viewers as well (although none of the threads I read referenced the LL viewer). This is one where the OP posted what solved it for her: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Viewers/We-are-unable-to-decode-the-file-storing-your-credentials-Need/qaq-p/2072259 If using a Mac, check out what Ansariel says here: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/Can-t-Log-In-With-Any-Viewer-Error-Messages/qaq-p/1338097
  19. Premium membership gives you the choice of: 1. A free Linden Home allocated randomly but you can choose the type of home if available. Prim allowance is 112 prims and the home itself does not count against that figure. You cannot increase the land size or prim allowance. or 2. Tier free allowance for 512 s.m. on the mainland but you have to buy the land yourself. Prim allowance is 112 but any home you build will count against that figure. You can of course buy a larger parcel of land with higher prim allowance and the first 512 s.m. will be tier-free. If you decide to move from your current Option 1 to Option 2, you will need to take back any rezzed items into your Inventory and then abandon the Linden Home via the About Land window. Then go looking for a suitable parcel on the mainland to purchase Useful links: http://secondlife.com/land/pricing.php http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Parcels-for-Sale-Estate/bd-p/ParcelsForSaleEstate http://community.secondlife.com/t5/English-Knowledge-Base/Buying-land/ta-p/700043
  20. Dillon Levenque wrote: "About a year". My plan is yearly and in fact my billing month is December. I had not received my email (the one I agreed about earlier in this thread) so I just went to check my billing date: it was a few days ago, and they have in fact billed my card. You're right: they've stopped sending notices. I think the first time I did not receive the reminder email for my quarterly membership was for my 3rd January 2013 renewal so 'about a year' is a guess, it could be a bit longer. I can't find the thread I mentioned. However, you should have received an email the day after renewal confirming LL had taken the payment. I've always received that.
  21. Daniel Regenbogen wrote: Well they will send you an eMail some time before they charge you again for renewal, so it shouldn't come as surprise to anyone, and you have time to cancel your premium membership before you get charged. Linden Lab does not send these emails anymore and hasn't for about a year. This came up a while back in either the Forums or Answers and others said they weren't receiving them either. If anyone still is, do please comment. I'm on a quarterly plan and for the past year, I have just received an email the day after renewal date informing me that Linden Lab has taken payment for my Second Life Membership Plan and how to change my plan if I so wish. It doesn't matter to me as I know when it's due and have no intention of changing to Basic.

    banned from land

You may be banned at Region/Estate Level and only the sim owner or estate manager can see this, not someone merely checking the About Land list as your friend did. This happened to me once where a store rented an entire private region and I was banned from entering even though the shop owner hadn't banned me and I wasn't on the About Land list but she gave me the name of the estate owner. I approached her and on checking she said I was banned at estate level but had no idea why as I'd never even been there before. She immediately removed my name and all was fine.
  23. Knowl, this is the current Premium page on the website. There is a double asterisk after the Sign-up Bonus! line and not too far below that is the clarification to which it refers. ** L$1,000 virtual currency bonus will be deposited directly into your Second Life account if your Premium membership is active for 45 consecutive days after initial sign-up. So yes, I think it's clear. There will always be some new Premium members who don't read the terms and then query this issue. I've read posts by some people who took out Premium membership and then asked what the benefits are, even though they are clearly displayed on the same page and it's surely a question that should have been researched prior to taking out membership.
  24. Oh ok Steph. Would Singularity be a better option as it's said to be less demanding on computer systems but I have to say the time it takes to rez scenes drives me crazy and its Outfits system is not as good as V3 based viewers. Soon as my fibre broadband arrives tomorrow (hopefully) I'll be back to my usual Niran's Black Dragon, although it's more like the LL viewer than his previous viewer, which graphically was way ahead of anything else.
  25. BLUExANGEL wrote: Also, with the outdated graphics in all the other viewers you will never see or be seen as anything but grey colored. So stick with Firestorm and go learn everything there is to know about it. I did it. It wasn't easy. I did not know one thing about sl or firestorm. If I can do it you can too. _____________________________________________________________________________ Clearly, you still have much to learn if you believe the graphics in other viewers is outdated compared to Firestorm and that you will never see or be seen as anything but grey coloured. The LL viewer and all the other TPVs were updated in line with the requirements of Project Sunshine, just the same as Firestorm was. Do you really think all those using other viewers are still wandering around in a grey avatar world since July? Seriously? Those who use Firestorm choose it for its features not for its graphics.
