Why do some houses suffer from gigantism?
Bree Giffen replied to bebejee's topic in General Discussion Forum
The big houses happened because LL decided to make a huge allowable range for avatar height and left it up to the residents to choose what height they wanted. People are also free to choose how big or small their furniture and houses will be. Unfortunately, the end result is that you look like a leprechaun in other people's houses. -
I would try to update the graphics card driver. Graphics Card: AMD Radeon HD 8240 http://support.amd.com/en-us/download

I think the argument would be better if Blue Mars was used instead of Sony home. Blue Mars was intended to be a world built by creators using only professional tools and like in Field of Dreams the residents would come. Blue Mars "died" of course. I read an interview with Blizzard developers who said they made World of Warcraft look clunky because they knew that a very large majority of users did not have the best graphics cards and making a game too high end would have prevented the establishment of an mmo dominating user base. Many other MMOs came out trying to be a high end game experience and they "died". Deliberate simplicity is a good strategy but a world also needs to be well designed. SL in its simpler beginnings was accused of having a high learning curve. Minecraft was so well designed that even a child could master it. I guess the main point I'm trying to explain is that instead of going from SL's complexity and bad design to Minecraft's simplicity and good design, LL should be going for complexity and good design.

SL is nothing like Sony Home. Sony Home was purely content made by the company. SL is not like Minecraft either. Minecraft is designed a whole lot better. That's why it was sold for billions.

Idieas & Games for private party?

How about primtionary? That's always fun. -
I've only been on here for about an hour and I'm ready to delete.
Bree Giffen replied to zephyrblaze's topic in Your Avatar
Second Life takes a long time to figure out. It has a high learning curve. That's why the Lindens decided to remove any kind of help for new users and people leave in droves. It's a pretty unique world though and it can be very rewarding if you decide to stick around. -
I wish LL would adjust the forum software so there wouldn't be so much stuff on top of the forum avatars. Nice avatar! :catvery-happy:

Is it possible to make computer controlled NPC's that walk around sims now? The whole game could be built on biting the NPC's. After getting bitten and dying, they respawn at random areas as new victims. People would want to hang out at the sims as long as possible in order to harvest all the NPC blood and the vampires can fight each other over biting right. Then you could offer a hud where people can actually play as regular humans and have to run around like an NPC and avoid getting bit. You could pay people if they stay alive for a long time.

Add a credit card to SL acct.
Bree Giffen replied to Ahmina Serdyuk's topic in General Discussion Forum
Just log in to the main Second Life web site which will take you to a summary page for your acccount. It's called a dashboard. On the left side go to account and then to billing information. You should be able to add your card there. -
1. Banning is what happens when you give a person the smallest bit of power. They sometimes use it unwisely. It's human nature to be corrupt and evil when given power over other people without apparent consequences. 2. I've never seen a mall like this but it sounds like the sim owners are trying o drum up role playing to the detriment of the casual shopper. I can't believe a store owner would put their only store in a sim like that. They must have other stores somewhere else. 3. I remember the ads. What a nightmare those were! Let's hope that LL remembers too. 4. Griefing is like banning. It's abuse of a tiny amount of power that a person has been given. We all have power to grief but we choose to not do it. It could all be due to Loki though. God of mischief. 5. I have seen some arrogance in SL but it doesn't affect me. I assume the person is an idiot and their behavior suddenly makes sense. 6. No one here can stop anyone from posting. All they can do is disagree. Only LL can ban people from here.

The Beginning of The End or A New Second Life?
Bree Giffen replied to Vandris's topic in General Discussion Forum
I think LL needs to start filling SL with NPC monsters that slowly destroy second life. Maybe giant spiders that cover unused areas of SL with spiderwebs. I think it would give residents a good indicator of areas that are active and areas that have fallen into decrepitude. Heck, they should put it into the new SL as well. No more wandering into an abandoned area and wondering when the last time someone used it. With spiders, you can barely move from all the webs and the chittering of spiders that lumber towards you with their beady little glowing eyes. -
It is a skin AND shapes.

It looks like you are getting a moire pattern on some of your textures. I've never had that problem and I've never heard of anyone here having that problem. Reading up on this type of glitch with google says that it might be the anisotropic filtering and anti-aliasing causing this. Try going to the hardware settings in the graphics tab of your preferences and try turnining those off. If that doesn't wok, try turning off all the hardware setting options. You might also want to look for your 3d card's utility program or control panel that can change the graphics settings for your video card and play with those settings.

Second Life 2.0 - suggestions - what you wish?
Bree Giffen replied to MaxTux Wonder's topic in General Discussion Forum
I seriously don't want any more attachable hands, feet, heads, boobs, wieners, etc. Just make the avatar have them all and make them look good! -
Is it possible that Linden Lab will use the new SL as an opportunity to create a fully PG rated world? In order to appeal to a larger customer base? It would certainly make the continued existence of the current SL more plausible.

We need a virtual world that engages all of our senses. The Oculus Rift will give us sight and sound but we need taste, smell and touch! Think of it! It would be stupendous. -
