  1. If we are "Normies" in SL, I think that makes us automatically non-Normie in the real world. This is one of those threads where a very specific definition has to be given in order to get a good response because everyone is naturally going to define Normie in their own way and then answer according to their own idea.
  2. Hmmm. I asked an online magic 8-ball "Am I a Normie?" and it said "Ask again later". After a few minutes I asked again and it said "Very doubtful".
  3. What happened to no shirt no shoes no service? I went to this place in Beverly Hills where the lighting was so low that you couldn't see the other diner's faces. I guess it was to let famous people eat without getting noticed but you couldn't even see people at the same table as you. Glad I didn't eat any soup there.
  4. Everquest was the reason to get two phone lines. I had my own priorities back then. On topic, everyone has presented great feedback. Half of the posts have been about existing gaming in SL and how it is good but has a lot of room for improvement. Examples given: fishing, farming, breedables, dinkies games, sailing, RPGs, Zyngo, Tringo, gambling, bloodlines. Problems pointed out have been about lag, sluggishness, latency, high creator investment, existing tools broken or unfinished, etc. Fixes have been suggested such as improving netcode, more keybinds, cloud gaming, fixing and finishing LSL tools. The other half have been new ideas such as new camera controls, more game UI, detailed world map, adding Unity, mobile gaming, separate game modules, add NPCS and questing elements, etc. SL will definitely not have triple AAA gameplay but maybe between fixing/finishing existing code and adding a few small features we could have have a slightly better gaming experience.
  5. I am very sad to hear this. Best wishes for the owners of pets by VKC and for the creators of VKC.
  6. You forgot the *beeeyoooo beeeyooooo*. At the very tail end of dialup I had a shotgun modem with two phone lines for twice the speed!
  7. I don't have any problems with the new video in the main page. It's possible that the video is trying to generate interest in SL from groups that all of you or I may not be a part of. Having more people in SL is a good thing even if these people are not any part of your SL.
  8. There’s an in-world store link in the owner’s profile. I seriously wouldn’t want to teleport there and see men all over the place.
  9. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/DOUX-Dana-hairstyle-DEMO/22069502 This looks like the last one on your list. The right side has been moved to the back using the style hud.
  10. These all look very Doux-like. The hairstyles have the option to flip the hair from front to back with the deluxe hud. One of them is Dana.
  11. Maybe I should become a tiny w/ all the games they have. Ice skating sounds fun. I think I tried that in human form before. I really liked this skateboarding thing they had once on AOL island. I've never skateboarded in RL but it was rather fun picking up coins and doing tricks.
  12. Thanks, it was a video on Decentraland that I watched. One thing I had in mind was in Decentraland, they had a arcade machine which was bad. But, what if Second Life could support something like building an arcade machine? I don't think that would eat up resources too much. Another thought was something like a racing game like Mario Kart. Where SL would have UI that shows player names, points and a camera view like Mario Kart. An overhead camera view would be nice where SL would automatically switch to the view when you started playing. It feels like we do have a lot of features for making SL look better but not more for better interaction. I don't think Poker would work at all with LL being in 'frisco.
  13. I was watching a video on this crypto world thing. I forgot the name of it but it had virtual real estate bought with crypto, NFTs, etc. This isn't a topic about all of that but what I saw was the type of content they had inside their virtual world and it was terrible. Second Life is way better. It had me thinking about the resources available in SL, scripting, control inputs, etc. that allow content to be created, specifically gaming content, and I was wondering what everyone thinks about the need for more resources to service this type of content? I know we have content. We have racecars and tracks and we have sailing and fishing but do we have the ability to make things much more game-like? In the crypto world they didn't have much interactive content and though SL has interactivity I think we need more.
  14. I've found, at least with male avatars which I don't know too much about, is it helps to look from outside to inside. The process in-world is to go to stores where you see hair/skin/clothes that you like and look at what mesh faces/bodies are supported. All stores tell you what mesh face/body their products are compatible with. If you look at enough hair/skin/clothes you will get an idea which parts have the most support and will get you the look that you want. The great thing is you can demo nearly everything before you purchase. Here are the basic parts that make up an avatar. 1. Mesh face - shape - skin -eyes - hair - clothing accessories 2. Mesh body - shape - skin - clothes and clothing accessories 3. Animation overrider
  15. I had to move my laptop which usually sits near the router and is connected with a short network cable. I switched to wireless because my cable was too short and I was surprised at how slower the connection was. Once I got a longer ethernet cable I did internet speed tests on wired and wireless and there was a huge difference. I could probably get a new router with faster wifi but it's not necessary now that I am wired in. What's the point? If you use SL you might get better performance on wired than on wireless. A relatively easy upgrade. I've rarely seen any teleporting or avatar rending issues.
  16. I used to always try to get into the actual region of the event but one day I realized that I wasn’t walking around and simply camming on everything. Now I just go to the cam region first. Lately I’ve been going several weeks after openings and have no problems getting in.
  17. How do we refer to you now? Synthetic? Artificial person?
  18. Many years ago I tried making a large amount of torus prims and then set them to physical. The mayhem was about as much as I expected. I was wondering where you wandered off to Gopi.
  19. Nice! Another tool to play with. I read an article about a group working on a mesh generating AI tool. Every conceivable creative venture is going to be disrupted.
  20. I hope LL never does that because I would likely change my name and then regret it. Boom that's $45 bucks from me! Devious.
