  1. Seven Tinies invaded Natalie's kitchen: DWRVS.
  2. I think everyone has it wrong. The new Apple goggles won't be used for VR/games/Second Life. They'll be used to control the electric self-driving iCar.
  3. Sure, but they also p**s off the potential mentors who object to their stupid conditions. Up with which I will put only in exchange for compensation.
  4. I'll send you mine, @Rufferta, feel free to pass it on to anyone, and/or edit it to suit.
  5. WHAAAT!? I do no such thing. I often write posts to add to or clarify what someone has said. On rare occasions, I'll correct someone's error. And when I make an error I expect someone to correct me, too! I'm not going to reply any further to this digression, because I think this thread is important.
  6. And a happy happy Friday to you too, @Alwin Alcott
  7. re. the debate between @Coffee Pancake and @Katherine Heartsong about how Mentors should look, and the underlying problem of teaching avatar appearance... This is a HUGE problem. Where I hang out on Welcome Island, I always look as good as possible (while keeping my complexity numbers low so everyone can SEE how fabulous I look.) I do this because 1) vanity (let's be honest!), and 2) I do want to show newcomers what's possible and inspire them. But then they ask, "How can I look like you?" and I come up against that brick wall that Katherine mentioned. What I've been doing is 1) show them how to switch between starter avatars, which at least gives them a variety of looks, and 2) hand them a notecard that has landmarks to freebie stores and tutorials about editing their appearance (among other things). This is a very poor solution, but it's the best I've been able to come up with for the majority of encounters. With a very few, who are willing to stick with me, ask questions, and follow directions, I can spend a couple of hours and walk them through some of the basics. But it is a huge investment in time; I can only do this once or twice a week. Linden Lab has bent over backwards to ensure that new functions don't break old content. But they may have bent so far backwards that they've broken SL's back. This enormous, complex thing we lump under the name "avatar appearance", with its mesh bodies, heads, HUDs, appliers, BoM, EvoX, skins, tattoos, eyes, hairbases, AOs, rigged/unrigged, Wear/Add, and appalachicola whibbertyglibs, has become a black hole that's sucking people, especially newbies, right out of SL.
  8. I am SO in agreement with this, except the "contractors" term. My initial reaction when I caught a rumor of the new program was positive...I was sad when LL discontinued the old Mentor program, and did not witness the abuses that other people have ascribed to it, so I'd be happy to sign on again. But I was much less positive when I found out the requirement to use the stock viewer, and a requirement to commit to one or more specific 2 hour blocks of time. That sounds like conditions of employment to me. If we are to be volunteer mentors (as I have been, for years), then we are independent contractors and set our own hours and choose our own tools. If you set conditions of employment, we are employees and are entitled to wages.
  9. Call your bank/credit card company and authorize charges from Linden Research and/or Tilia.
  10. Here is the straight skinny. https://status.secondlifegrid.net/incidents/s7ml1vwcct6j
  11. Surely you jest. We grammarians require your grammatical errors, else we'd have naught to correct.
  12. Going up above 1000m in a region with no other avatars in it and out of sight of any skyboxes in the region should give you a pretty consistent reading.
  13. There was an issue on this yesterday, apparently a bug that came along with a new server release. They may have fixed it by now. If you're still having the problem, turn on the notification that informs you when you arrive in a region running a different software version. Then teleport around until you get that message, and try saving your outfit again.
  14. I agree that the information about this isn't very clear. I believe that Rolig is right, and the Estate name doesn't appear on the address bar. It only appears under "Estate" in the About Land window. For example, Serena Estates owns, among others, a region called Bluefields. In the address bar, you only see "Bluefields" and your coordinates. But it is possible, if you want, to include the name of your estate in the name of the region. For example, every region in the steampunk estate of Caledon has "Caledon" in the region name. Caledon Oxbridge, Caledon Highlands, Caledon Cymru, and so on. If you wish to have this type of nomenclature, all you have to do is to manually include the name of your estate in the name of your regions.
  15. @Namuri You seem to be operating under a couple of misapprehensions here. 1. This is the Answers forum. It is not the Complaints forum. People come here to ask questions and get answers for their problems. For general bit*hing, see the People \ General Discussion forum. 2. The first line of your opening post, "Hello Staff," indicates you think you are talking to LL staff here. You are not. Lindens don't come here except to do occasional moderation. This is a resident to resident forum. We provide information and advice, but cannot fix underlying problems for you. The proper way to bring such issues to the attention of the Lab is to file a JIRA case.
  16. The Kupra mesh body works like most of the bodies out there. There are two ways of making parts of your body transparent so that you don't poke through your clothing. Way 1: Bakes on Mesh alpha mask layers. If you're using old mesh clothing, or some newer mesh clothing, it may come with an alpha mask layer specially designed for that clothing item. Right click and Add any alpha mask items that come packed with your clothes. As Rowan says, you can also grab collections of alpha masks, many of them free, and try to find one that works with a particular piece of clothing. Or, if you have some skills with Photoshop or GIMP, you can make your own custom alpha masks. Then there is Way 2: Alpha cuts using the body's control HUD. Most mesh bodies have the ability to click on a picture in the HUD to turn transparency on or off in defined areas. Here's a video on the Kupra HUD that shows this in action (toward the last 1/3 of the video)
  17. And if Alwin's suggestions don't work, it's then time to submit a support case. Note that Premium members receive a higher level of tech support. For costly inventory issues, it may be worth taking out a one month Premium subscription.
  18. No, you won't. As others have said, to get more capacity, you need a larger parcel of land. With Premium+, you can GET a larger parcel and still avoid paying a monthly land fee. If you don't want to 1) incur the additional expense and 2) suffer the hassle of finding and buying a 2048 parcel and moving there, then Persephone's advice about becoming prim conscious is your best bet. Plus it's good advice even if you do have a large land parcel, because we always seem to fill them up. One of the best ways to reduce an object's LI is to change its physics type from "prim" to "convex hull". This can often cut an object's impact in half. But do be careful; in some cases, as Persephone says, it will INCREASE the LI, and it can sometimes "fill in" doorways or sunken floors with what seems to act like an invisible barrier.
  19. Être patient. Il faut souvent plusieurs jours à Linden Lab pour répondre à un ticket d'assistance.
  20. I was referring to this statement of yours. Simply advertising on the MP costs nothing; if you're paying L$ 3,000 per month, you're paying for increased visibility.
  21. I have never believed in paying for increased Marketplace visibility. Your mileage may vary.
  22. I think you'll get more help by filing a Support Case. Click "Support" at the bottom of this page and follow the links.
  23. I use a Photoshop alternative called Corel Paint Shop Pro. It has both a 32 bit and a 64 bit version. For many years, even though my computer was 64 bit, I installed both versions, "just in case". Last week, some fluffup or other required me to do a complete reinstall of Windows and all my application software. I realized that I had NEVER had recourse to the 32 bit version, so I made life easy on myself and just installed PSP 64 bit. Even I can learn, given a long enough lesson.
