  1. It's not a misuse. But a lot of people forget that when they make a Pick, the Pick includes the location where they were when they made it. Or it could be deliberate, as Zalificent has suggested.
  2. @Love Zhaoying is a music creator, and he's a frequent visitor to these threads. Visit, heck. He practically lives here. And welcome, Bazzilla!

    upgrading tier

Your tier level only indicates the maximum amount of Mainland you MAY own. The amount you are charged is not calculated on your tier level, but on the maximum amount of Mainland you ACTUALLY hold at any point in the billing period. So if you are at the 4096 tier level, but only own 2048 square meters, you are only charged for the 2048. One thing to be careful of is when you want to change parcels. If you own, say, 2048 sq m. and then find another 2048 parcel you want to buy, you should sell or abandon the first parcel BEFORE purchasing the new one. If you do not, then for some period of time (maybe only a few minutes) you owned both parcels. That means that for that billing period, you'll be charged for 4096 sq. m. (The above examples neglect the additional complicating factors of the free tier you get for a Premium membership, or the 10% bonus you can get by owning land through a group, as these don't have a direct bearing on your question.)
  4. It's a region-level setting. If you owned an entire region, you could be an "event region". If you want to confine your venue to just a part of the region, you certainly can. You could hold a party on 1/4 of the region and have 100 people there (normal region) or pack in 175 (event region). But only if you own the ENTIRE region.
  5. July: Unprecedented ice consuming environment. MELTY!
  6. Hi Missy! The others saying "don't worry because only a jerk admin would kick you for that" are right. But here's an additional tip: Wear some layer-style lingerie under your clothing. That will rez right along with your body, so you'll never be nude despite SL rendering stupidity. Another method is to be sure your "naughty bits" are alpha'd out, underneath your mesh clothes.
  7. One more step in freeing avatars from the tyranny of their operators! (See the other recent thread on AI avatars for additional developments).
  8. No. Or not any more unsafe than the rest of the commercial online world. I'm thinking more of a site set up by a resident, as the OP seems to be implying.
  9. Even if the outside website is secure (and it seems that NO sites are immune to getting compromised), any user will have conflated their avatar account name with their RL name and financial data. Now the owner of the website knows who you are. Anonymity is lost, and there is a very real possibility for things like fraud, identity theft, and blackmail. I would NEVER use such a website.
  10. Both are upgrades of sorts. The neutering should help if he develops an enlarged prostate down the road; dogs don't have a lot of room for it. The gastropexy should prevent bloat, a condition that is often deadly. He came through the surgery with flying colors and is now resting quietly at home.
  11. I do this. Occasionally, it will turn out that I've directed someone to something that costs money, and they don't have any/don't have enough. I've always felt it was unfair to show someone something that they cannot have, so I will usually give them the money to purchase it.
  12. I need a HELLO! I'm holdin' out for a HELLO by the end of the night I don't care if he's strong, I don't care if he's fast He's just gotta get the greeting right!
  13. It sure is. Seems you can't even get in and out the vet's door these days for less than $200. But the Bandit's been saving things up. Today it's Teeth cleaning and other dental work X-rays of a leg that gives him a bit of a limp from time to time Neutering Gastropexy, a preventative operation to tack the stomach to the abdominal wall so it cannot twist and cause the dangerous condition called "bloat". We decided to do it all at once so he'd only need one set of pre-op blood work and one anesthesia.
  14. Don't get me wrong, I'm sorry that people have called you names. But I don't think you can take back things that others have said about you. THEY have to take them back. You can refuse to let 'em stick though, and good for you!
  15. ...Having to pay nearly $2K to have maintenance and upgrade work done on my dog. I know he needs it, but I hate putting him through it, and hate having to pay even more.
  16. I have heard tales of this happening, but I have never been able to verify them or find out if/how it is possible. I would file an Abuse Report with LL. Give as much detail as possible, including the location, the time as near as you can tell, which object(s) you believe were moved, and the name of the person who moved them, if you know it. I suggest that you use "harassment" as the AR category. You might also install a visitor counter so that you can see who comes onto your parcel and when, if you are not certain about who the culprit is.
  17. Chin, you are quite correct. Nevertheless, I still pay very close attention to Avatar Complexity. I might not worry about it when demo'ing clothing, because most clothing adds little to your complexity. But I do take note of it when assembling an outfit. Hair and jewelry are the biggest contributors. I have one beautiful jewelry set that I never wear anymore because it shoots my complexity up over 400,000. I have a lot of very pretty flexi hairstyles that I seldom wear, for the same reason. But why pay attention to a number that is not really a good indicator of how much you are lagging everyone down? In a word, vanity. When I take the time to assemble an outfit, I want to be seen, and not just as a gray blob. If I keep my Avatar Complexity below 100K, or better yet below 50K, most people will see me as fully rendered.
  18. Yes, it does. But it also CREATES much worse problems when the sun is at the noon position.
  19. What exactly do you mean by this? The blue popup windows are notifications, not objects. Notifications can be sent by objects, like "Nefarious Device owned by Lindal Kidd is requesting permission to take L$ from you. Allow/Block?" If you get notices like that, be very careful about clicking "allow" or "accept". Some objects or HUDs worn by others attempt to crash you by making hundreds of these notices pop up in a short time period, overloading your viewer. Firestorm can be set to limit the number of notices it will accept in a short time period which will keep such attacks from working.
  20. Now I know why you were so involved in the build of a certain pink-themed area for a certain female stereotype in SL. ...takes your arm to keep from falling off her six inch pink platform heels and bats her inch and a half long lashes at you, cooling you with a nice little breeze.
