  1. Hey Josh! How many copies of each of your magic boxes do you have inworld? You need backups running of each box to ensure deliveries connect. Your backup magic boxes should be running on a different region for each layer of redundancy. I go with a 4-layer redundancy & ever since I adopted this I have essentially zero delivery problems :matte-motes-asleep-2:
  2. Anyone else see this happening or am I the only one who is time traveling? When I open my SL transaction page it thinks it is the 22nd, and I have to flip back a day to see today's transactions. Second Life is really moving into the future now :matte-motes-grin:
  3. If the issue persists you could always try contacting Second Life's billing department and see what's up. Second Life Billing Good luck! Hope you can get your hands on some $L soon :matte-motes-smitten:
  4. The sidebar elimination is genius.... but some of the proposed features in the survey are just privacy invasions? I don't see why different TPV developers keep thinking this stuff might be cool.... I think in the long run a viewer will be much more popular (and long-lasting) if it respects all users privacy to the utmost. Respecting all user's privacy also ensures minimal drama/infighting within the Second Life community. There will always be a crowd that clamors loudly for the more stalkerish tools but lets not cater to them :matte-motes-grin:
  5. Ooh that sounds like a good feature for Lindens to add in.... I don't think there is a way currently to do that. It would be a good option to have since technically, the delivery a zero cost item is not a "sale" & shouldn't be labeled as such! I think the SL Marketplace, in many ways, is a little bit too focused on this, including all those "best selling" 0 $L items :matte-motes-wink-tongue:
  6. That is a really wierd little attempt they did to start some drama... the things some people will do for entertainment :matte-motes-impatient: I agree, best thing to do is :matte-motes-zipped: this person.
  7. I've been getting some sales... but not a strong day. Are many people having trouble loading textures today? :matte-motes-frown: Hope people aren't all lost in a sea of gray out there, I'm having no issues... but then again I have one of those ridiculous unlimited super-bandwidth kind of plans so not a good example of standard SL user most likely :matte-motes-bashful:
  8. Sorry to hear you're losing the sim, it looks really cool! There's been a few beautiful landmark sims (like Hosoi) falling away lately :matte-motes-stress: I know of a few long-term sim owners not having good times this year. Hopefully Linden Lab comes up with a hot new land product or something ($L cards out in real world stores perhaps?) to make SL really start booming again. The inworld economy hinges entirely on LL policy & actions. I would suspect that Rodvik must have something planned that would help things. He got them to finish Windlight and wrapping up a lot of other loose ends that had been hanging for years! Seems like a real professional is in charge. It is sad that anything amazing Linden Lab might do in future to expand Second Life, it may arrive too late for some of its early-adopter hardcore supporters because a short-term rut (6 months to 1 year) of stagnant concurrency & softened inworld spending easily puts many sim owners out of business. If sim owners run out of cash, sims simply close.... and yes they may be replaced with generic cookie-cutter ones... but SL loses something of its unique heritage each time :matte-motes-crying:
  9. Hey DTMNXA I have similar eyelashes I wear sometimes.... :matte-motes-asleep-2: All you have to do to move these back into place is select the eyelash by clicking on it. Click the "Edit" option when you see a menu. From your Edit window which appears here select "Rotate" and "Position" to make the adjustments you need. This operates just like moving a regular prim in the world space. To line it up precisely to your avatar's face you can type in a rotation here as well, so if you hand adjust it and it is still a little crooked change a 178.678 degree rotation to 180.000 for example... just like math class :matte-motes-nerdy: This same method works for adjusting the position of any attached objects. If you can't really get it (it can be tricky to edit things) you could always try contacting the creator of the item (that info is in your Edit window also) and see if they will give you a fresh copy with the correct orientation. Best of luck :matte-motes-grin:
  10. Is it really to do with the viewer here? My bet is the OP (or perhaps an estate manager) has unbeknownst raised the water level setting. To change it back go to your SL main menu top of screen: choose: WORLD >> Region/Estate >> Terrain >> Water Height If you want your water to match to Linden water height choose 20 for this value :matte-motes-sunglasses-1:
  11. Hello Cinsaulta! Yes there is lag today and I got logged out all of a sudden from it I think... :matte-motes-crying: Lots of people having problems with transactions and everything, it is because of the maintenance. The whole system can be just dragging for about 48 hrs. after a maintenance. It is tough on the grid operations... everything has to rebuild/recompile in the system & it should clear up soon... unless the maintenance didn't go well. SL is a complex system...
  12. Yes very small populations indeed.... depth of content is another big difference between the two environments. Many content creators & developers are a little wary to enter third-party grids since, aside from the teeny/nonexistent customer base, you are handing the third party running the grid the keys to your business & all content you import there... not much recourse if bad things happen. SL is much more secure & increasingly more so now with Rodvik at the wheel so most creators are happy to be exclusively in Second Life :matte-motes-asleep-2:
  13. You can also just try looking up creators who make avatars similar to what you are looking for. Then contact them inworld with IM or notecard, some of them will do custom work.... so if you contact enough of them you'll find someone to work with on this! Best of luck :matte-motes-asleep-2:
  14. I get this kind of problem sometimes and it can be solved by moving a couple more points in to define the problem area. It just means SL thinks there is not enough points there that part is important, so it smooths it away. Soon with mesh no more of these troubles :matte-motes-asleep:
  15. Under the context it might not get AR'd much... but I dunno what all reaction it may get. Playing it safer would be to use any other Nazi symbols in its place... it is only the swastika that risks getting the huge controversy up I think, meanwhile there is other accurate symbols (for example the formal version with eagle) to use so they could be minimizing or leaving absent the swastika.... not perfectly realistic but a good compromise maybe :matte-motes-impatient:
  16. I told my family about what I do in SL. They didn't seem surprised at all, probably cause everything I do in life is as strange & unusual as the next thing... being in SL might be one of the least odd things I do :matte-motes-tongue: Most friends I don't tell about SL at all, since the only kind of video games they are into --- if any interest at all --- is console games & only casually playing, just zero interest in this kind of thing (& in some cases maybe kind of a social suicide i think :matte-motes-stress:) so I never mention yet :matte-motes-whistle:
  17. Nice summary Pussycat, I'm happy (and pleasantly surprised) to see this is the way Linden Lab has decided to enable mesh. Can't wait to do my tutorial/test thing..... We shouldn't worry as to not attract more content creators to SL anyways, there is already so many... With proper promotion of SL, there should be a ratio of like 10/1 (or better) number of content users to content creators here.... reason why we should see that ratio is most people do not want to spend time developing 3d assets/environments, most people would prefer to consume entertainment. So we see Linden Lab is now focused on making SL more appealing to this mainstream consumer. As SL grows we will see it mature into a fuller world, not such a one-sided community :matte-motes-bashful-cute-2:
  18. Hello Kaiserw! As others have said here you need to have multiple copies of your magic box out to make sure one works. The important part to make this technique effective is each magic box copy must be placed on a different region. I used to have all kinds of problems until I went up to quadruple redundancy per box. Some might go up to 100 items... I wouldn't put more than 50 items in a box :matte-motes-stress: Hold tight though... you won't have to put up with the magic boxes forever :matte-motes-asleep-2: Linden Lab is working on a "direct delivery" system for merchants... which should turn out to be vastly superior & more dependable than our current "magic box" system! Anyways, best of luck getting your unavailability issues sorted, I know it can be most frustrating!
  19. You are probably in there... somewhere.... homepage ads just has a bazillion people advertising on it which makes it not a very effective way to promote your goods (in my opinion). Unfortunately, there's not many good options to bring eyes to your product in SL on the marketplace... Linden Lab is still working on that. They tried a banner advertisement program through a third-party company, which I think is still available... that might be a more effective option for you as nobody much uses it, so at least you'll be seen! You'll need to get your credit card out for it though... no L$ accepted, no PayPal either :matte-motes-confused:
  20. WADE1 Jya

    Wha?

Did you try going to your Preferences and "Clear Cache" then relog? This should resolve inventory problems similar to what you experienced here... Best of luck :matte-motes-little-laugh:
  21. I am designing a very unusual vehicle with my very own unusual weapons, mostly projectile or laser-like weapons. I am a fairly proficient scripter so just looking for a little direction/advice here. How do I ensure projectiles or "hits" are compatible with major commonly-used combat systems? As I understand it there might be compatibility issues since there is little standardization among weapon manufacturers... is this correct?
  22. I have had trouble with my sim getting taken out of PG search before for such innocent animal words. Right now I have them listed as "peafowl" only trouble is nobody searches for a peafowl.... they are commonly known as peacocks :matte-motes-impatient: Reassurance from a Linden on this would be golden! :matte-motes-grin:
  23. Hey blaze, I'd suggest refile the ticket under your main (premium) account. It is maybe a little silly of a method.... but Linden Lab doesn't have good ability yet to cross-reference who owns what accounts, unless you tell them that info. Make it clear you own both accounts and explain the issue is with your alt account. Then you will likely get served promptly. Best of luck! :matte-motes-asleep-2:
  24. The mistake made here is the "thief" should have asked the artist for usage rights on the photo before using the image. I checked the artist's site and they have a couple comments saying that they are PO'd about thievery of their images and rightly so... If only they'd asked first, I wouldn't be surprised if the artist would let them use it even :matte-motes-bashful: With a different photo, there is no other problem with the item on SL Marketplace that I can see. Since the artist is upset about it & did in no way give them permission to use the image, I think they should definitely use another image on their listing. Its very easy for them to change it & there is 1000s of royalty-free robot pictures surely! or better yet they could create their own robot image! :robothappy: This was probably just a careless mishap where the merchant was looking for a quick robot image for their listing (since you can't show a photo of a robot sound gesture) and their mistake highlights why one should always be extremely careful with checking out the rights of any image you use which is not your own.
  25. If it is too much for you, you shouldn't jump in at that level as it is unsustainable & could easily even hurt your real life financial situation a little. A good way to start is rent some small parcels first like a 512m for example, if you can 100% recover costs (and hopefully a little profit) from your 512 parcels for several consecutive months this would be a good indication a sim is a good idea for you as a next step. In total agreement with others here of start small and work your way up cautiously :matte-motes-grin: it could spoil what would otherwise be a very fun experience if you jump in too big right away. Conversely, another sustainable method would be saving up your money and wait to buy your sim until you have enough that you feel more comfortable with the costs. Having a sizable fund dedicated towards several months of future operating costs is very useful... so you don't have to collapse your venture soon after purchase. Such a fund will also save your operation if you sometime have a month or two running red. To keep it fun, you should not mind slowly depleting this fund at times. This will happen at first, at least until you learn better how to recover your costs. Also keep in mind that many sims never completely cover their teir costs.
