  1. I found more.... these look a bit scary! https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Abs-by-Sora-Tech/835903 These look much more natural, but oh so expensive. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Panda-Express-Abs-You-Always-Wanted/1295828 Cheaper than a new skin, though. You know how to edit them to match your skin?
  2. Disclaimer: I haven't tried this abs add-on pack myself. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Unisex-Abs-Enahncement-Kit/650889 But I will keep an eye on this thread and see if ppl recommend skins or add on layer abs. I could need it for a Xena, the warrior princess - styled outfit.
  3. What you say, is also my thoughts. The big appeal to SL as it is now, is that I have such freedom to mix'n match. I can wear a shape I made myself, I can buy ANY skin, eyes and hair to wear with it. I can put together an outfit where not 2 pieces is from the same creator. Of course I can't fool myself to think that I am unique, because I will buy things that are advertised and popular. But the more I mix, the chanche that somebody else is going to wear this shirt with that jacket and those pants and accessorize with just the same shoes, belt, earrings +++ is going down to zero. Well, even if somebody did, they would probably not be in my timezone. LL has not given us better tools to play with, that is my biggest complaint. Have you ever tried to get a tattoo only for one arm? It is incredible that their upper body template has just one arm, so you are forced to have the same on both arms. I could be tempted to buy mesh arms that go up to the shoulder, just for that purpose. I have bought prim hands just to test them, I am not totally happy with them and hope mesh hands will be better. Hands, wrists, elbows is where the default avatar show the faults best. It will be interesting to see how mesh behaves there, in different animations. A better avatar from LL would be the best solution, but I would not hold my breath until we get it. When will I wear mesh clothes? Depends if they look better than what I already have, and if they can be mixed with other mesh clothes. The dress that's linked to in the first post, no way I would wear it straight from the box. Wear the corset with a peasant blouse and petticoat maybe. But that I can't do, because it's just one piece. If all designers use this practice, it's no fun for me..
  4. I correct myself... I see that you want a skin too. Here is slurls, I hope they are correct. Shops move quickly in SL. the body co http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/The%20Mall/144/97/29 Sacred http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Kuu%20Ipo/196/202/22 KENTO http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Zanzo/32/163/23 Den-Dou http://slurl.com/secondlife/itutu/110/134/27 Mr.Poet http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/J%20island/205/163/31 The last one. Mr Poet, is more known for their clothes than their skins. I am guessing that all the skin shops sell shapes too, but I know for certain that Den-Dou has shapes. It's no problem wearing skin and shape from different places. I have just one thing to add... The Den-Dou shape and the Mr.Poet shape was no modify. It could be because they were part of a special offer, and perhaps they sell modifiable shapes too. Then you can tweak your shape when you find one that you like.
  5. It's not so strange that most slender male shapes look Japanese or Chinese around the eyes. Most who make shapes for western customers beef they up a lot. The best thin male shapes you find are often marked "bishounen", that's japanese for Pretty Boy. These shapes are slender and the faces is often made more youthful. I can recommend Den-Dou. I make the most shapes my male alts use, but I got a Den-Dou shape as part of a skin Gatcha and was really impressed. I also got a thin shape from the Lucky Chairs at Mr.Poet. This shop sells mostly clothes, but if you walk in and at a small patio, it is some chairs and 2 lucky boards with male skins in them. Each have a male skin and shape. I don't think these eyes look Oriental or eastern. I have not tried the shapes from Bird Next Door, but I don't think you risk much trying them, they are so inexpensive. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/BNDCute-Young-Boy-Shape-Male-avatar-Shape-PromoSale/217367 A youthful look will also depend upon the skin you pick. Sacred and the body co has nice skins, I think. Are you looking for a skin too, or just a shape?
  6. Hi, I have to reset my preferences yes. Some preferences the update "remember" but some they don't. Turn on the advanced menu, bump LOD, check silent snapshot to disk, cancel camera restraints. Some versions remember this, some don't. And then the inventory must load. The Viewer2 is good enough for me, I can't say it's harder to use than other viewers. But I got a surprise when I had an update that would not recognize my graphic card. As you Mayalily, the option for shadows is greyed out. I know how to open the advanced menu and the develop menu and turn on shadows from there, but that is greyed out too. I could do this before.
  7. I read so many threads where people complain about new versions. I was one of those who had Preferences - Setup - Software updates - Install automatically. After I changed that to Download and install updates manually, I have a better SL experience. Less muttering and pulling my hair! Well, now I use Firestorm, but I still have the official Viewer 2 installed. I see no reason to install a new version if the version I have works for me. Unless it is a new feature that i want to try. Nothing happens if I use a version that's not the latest.
  8. Yes indeed. I wonder if those with superbright facelights run so old viewers that they can't see rendered lights, or their graphic is turned down to the lowest possible? I have a Facelight that I use sometimes for pictures only. I might want a dramatic dark sky, and then a Facelight can be useful to just light up me. Here is how it looks on max: (I newer use this setting, lol) Belive it or not, but there are much worse facelights out there! I know I have linked to this blog before, but it is informative. http://juicybomb.com/2010/04/22/gogos-updated-windlight-tutorial/ And if you use a viewer who has the popular windlight presets, you can actually see the same as others. If a notecard say that windlight setting "Nam's optimal skin and prim" was used, and you find that one under sky settings, you should see the same. If your graphic is compatible and you can run SL on High or Ultra settings. More: http://nwn.blogs.com/nwn/2011/07/second-life-screenshot.html
  9. That's pretty awful. I have not logged in since Saturday, due to things in RL that I focus on. But I fear that I'll log into a heap of garbage. As if capped IMs wasn't bad enough before this! Not that I'm totally negative to it. It just lack options. I would like to se "Read" and "Write" separated. I could want all SL to read my profile, but allow Nobody or just Friends to write on it. Especially now that I have turned off notifications, because I hoped this would prevent me from getting spammed. How is it working if we use "Nobody" on the feeds? Can a merchant find my profile in SL, if I send a complaint and they want to send a replacement? This is really important to me. As I said... I don't hate it, but LL really need to give us more control over it. If I really get spam from my friends, even after I turn off notifications? Well, welcome to unfriending...
  10. Well, I logged into viewer 2 just a few seconds. Hehe. The camera controls I use when i send the camera out is found when you push the "View" button. You zoom in and out in the middle, and use the arrows to the right to send the camera in straight lines. The arrows on the left orbit the camera. I also have Advanced menu (Ctrl+alt+D) up, and check Quiet snapshot to disk and High res snapshots. If you check the Disable camera constraints, you can move the camera more easy and far out. If I want to take pictures of the fountain to my left, I would first zoom in close, then use the control to the right and click the arrow that points left, to send the camera that way.
  11. here: http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Linden_Lab_Official:Alternate_Viewers Scroll down to viewer 1.23 and install it. You will have to get used to the official viewer sooner or later. You did not know that they now have Basic mode, meant for newbies that will just teleport around, and Advanced, where you find your inventory.
  12. What Storm said I don't use viewer 2, but you find the camera controls down at the bottom, don't you?
  13. Ah, that really looks nice. I haven't had time to log into SL, my RL is a bit occupied but I log into SL forums just to get an escape. The stretching of textures can be avoided if you can change the repeats. I really shouldn't try to teach stuff, since English isn't my #1 language. Isn't it called "repeats"? let us say you have a curtain that you stretch so it is double wide, you could double the texture repeats horisontally. If you dare to try it on the stained glass, you would see that it will repeat the pattern, giving the illusion of 2 stained glass windows close together. If the curtains had a seamless texture, you would not have to worry about patterns. This would work best on texures that don't have baked in shades.
  14. Nothing to be sorry for. We are still trying to understand that almost 100 people is killed. Yes, he has to be a special sick and evil **bleep**. But intelligent too. He registred an agricultural company as early as in 2009, he rented a farm in April and ordered 6 tons of fertilizer in May! It may sound as a lot of fertilizer, but it is not unnormal for a medium sized farm, who often order a year's supply. And he was a farmer, so who can refuse to sell to him? He was a Freemason too, and registred in a local Pistol club and licenced to have weapons.
  15. I don't think so, Pussycat. Sweden, Norway and Denmark is still very open countries, even after Swedish Prime Minister Olaf Palme was shot dead in 1986. A Norwegian publisher, William Nygaard, was shot three times by an assassin in 1993 after he had published Salman Rushdies book and a fatwa was issued. We are still very banal idealists and think that a car is just a car, not a potential bomb. Sigh. My first thought after the bomb on friday was that it was Libyan exstremists or Ansar Al-Islam who was behind it. . But after the shootings on Utøya, it bacame clear that it was done by a Norwegian. In some way, it is good because the Right Wing would have used this for all it is worth if it was carried out by a man with an Islamic background.
  16. It was the other way around. First he set off the bomb, then he posed as a policeman coming to check security at the Youth Camp. It was a devilishly well plan. Norwegian police is unarmed, but after such an event as the bombing, they are armed. He showed false police ID and claimed he was there to check security and had information about the Oslo bombing. The Prime Minister was scheduled to talk in the Youth Camp the next day. So when he came to the island, he asked to adress the pople in an infomation meeting, very polite and very formal. They said yes, of course. Then he started shooting. He even walked around on the island in over one hour, calling out that he was from the Police and that they were safe now. Some kids were tricked to came out and was shot. He also shot wounded youngsters in the head as they were laying down, and shot at those trying to swim from the island. The Police forces were all gathered in Oslo to investigate after the bomb, so he had over one hour on the remote island. It is horrible. It is still 5 young people missing from the island massacre, and they have found unidentified body parts in the bombed out buildings in Oslo, so the death number may rise.
  17. Can I ask if you want curtains that cover the whole window totally? I haven't had a home in a year, but I only had open curtains. I could touch the windows so they got "privacy option" and has the look of closed blinds from the outside.
  18. I'm stupid but I have to ask: You mean decorating as in decorating your home? It could be nice with a Homes and Gardens subforum. Discussing all sort of builds, terraforming, what should I buy of furniture, flowers and landscaping stuff. Cound be all stuff from a new photoframe for the desk, to a whole sim surround landscape.
  19. You have until 31. july to buy at the TULI skin sale. The packs have the same shape as shown on the vendor. I was there yesterday and bought a "Sara" skin, it's Tulis newest and she really does good work. http://tules.blogspot.com/ The skin pack also comes with options for blonde brows, and a cleavage booster and a minimizer, freckles, 6 eyeshadows and lots of lipsticks. You really need a viewer where you can wear more than one tattoo layer with this. I paid 1990 L.
  20. It is really demanding for the computer, yes. But you can also try a lightweight SL client as Metabolt or Radegast. This will not render any graphics, so it can be a bit tricky to use. What you do is log in your main, on your ordinary viewer, and friend your alt. Then log in your alt on Metabolt. You will get a message that you have a friends request, and accept it. Then you can teleport your main av to the dance place, and send your alt a teleport that the alt accepts. Now comes the tricky part, how do the alt sit on a poseball when he does not render SL? He can search for objects near by, and the poseballs will show up by name. Then he can select "Slowdance #4" and "Sit" on it. That's all! Hopefully he will be posed on the blue ball, hehe. If not, he will have to unsit, you sit first and so him. I played with this so I could take a pic of all my avatars inworld the same time, it was no way I could run so many full SL viewers at a time. Sometimes I had an idea of creating SL "Cartoons" but it takes more time than I have. I have not been on Metabolt in 2011, but it is still listed. Same is Radegast. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Third_Party_Viewer_Directory
  21. I have really been playing with makeups lately, 5 tattoo layers just isnt' enough! Hehe. But the hair base often use up one layer. I was so happy with this combination that I have to share: Unedited picture from SL, just cropped. Bigger sizes here and a list over what I wear if you are interested. http://www.flickr.com/photos/27764102@N02/5951063682/in/photostream
  22. I must bite, I haven't posted here in a while. New darker skin and dark hair. And unedited pic from SL, just cropped. Credits here: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27764102@N02/5955399031/in/photostream
  23. Glamorize is either a hit or miss for my avatar. But you can't beat the prize. For high quality, more subtle makeups, I really like M.O.C.K. (Mocksoup Graves). Her lipstains and lipglosses really fresh up nude lips without looking false or change the lip form. It must be because they are transparent around the edges.
  24. You say that your desktop icon does not work? Have you tried other ways to open SL, like from the installed programs? Sorry that I have no idea how a Mac works.
  25. I will just clarify that I am 100% with Pussycat, it is the avatar mesh that causes the deforms, not the shoe makers. I tried to edit my reply with pictures, but I could not edit it, probably because the pictures is so big that the edit window are only loading, loading. I tried to resize up my feet to 25, and work with an alpha layer and editing the shoe bigger. The feet is still deformed, even if it looks better. Because I really wanted the floral pumps with prim toes, they look totally adorable!!! How I would love to just wear shoes like that, instead of editing with an HUD. It takes way too much time. I don't like to wear prim feet, but I feel that's my only option.
