  1. Have you read any good blogs? It is already a wide range of skins suited for blondes, and a lot of premade shapes. I am sure you will find someone to make a shape for you, since that does not involve work in photoshop. Skin making takes a lot of time, and they need to use photoshop or gimp, get different resources for skins like lips, eyebrows and so on. Try to read this blog and see what you think. She is only one of hundreds that blog about SL and how to customize your avatar. http://juicybomb.com/
  2. Change your password now, to prevent this from happening in the future. Sharing passwords is a big risk to take.
  3. You had not given your friend your password so he can log in and "fix" something for you, edit things, help you looking for lost stuff, hmmm?
  4. Do you want animated poses or static poses for photography? For animated poses that fit into AOs, try Oracul. For static Poses, try Purple Poses. For some reason, it's hard to find that shop in search inworld. Try searching for creator's name, Audrey Guter, They have female, male, couple and AO's. Everglow has very good model poses too. Dances - hmm. Sine Wave?
  5. Hm, the closest is a jedi/sith robe I found on the Marketplace. Black, but maybe the shop has lighter colors inworld? https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Deluxe-Sith-Black-Outfit/2129378?page=2
  6. Do you read fashion blogs? I find much more there than I do through search. http://rightclickandbuy.wordpress.com/ http://hybridangel.wordpress.com/ http://bellatrixmai.wordpress.com/
  7. What viewer are you using? You can also try "edit appearance" or "rebake textures". The problem is that "Rebake textures" is sometimes called "Refresh appearance" and other things, and you find it different places in different viewers. That is a thing that should be easier to find. It is really hopeless that they hide it. But I think the shortcut is the same in all viewers, somebody correct me if this isn't right? Rebake textures: Ctrl-Alt-R. This sometimes helps. Push the combination several times. You can also click on your avatar and choose "Edit appearance" or "Edit my shape" in viewer2. You can just edit one digit. Let us say your height is 92, set it to 91 and exit. This is sometimes faster than to wear a default avatar and put back all the things that are "you".
  8. What viewer do you use? Do you have more than one viewer installed? If that is so, I had it happen to me because two viewers were installed in the same place. Sorry, English technical talk is really not my strong side. But, uninstalling all your viewers and installing your preferred viewer again is what I would do if clear cache does not help. I prefer to log into Hatton, it is an empty region that also allow rezzing.
  9. Hi, I will recommend you to start a blog outside SL instead of a group in SL. I may be mistaken, I don't memorize the TOS, but I mean that he can complain to LL and get a group taken down. LL can't enforce the TOS on blogs outside SL. You can also google SL + Forums and find other forums where it is allowed to name names. Be prepared that he and his friends will come there to tell HIS side of the story. It can be very ugly. Is it worth it? It is up to you what you do with it of course. I will just say that you should never pay more money upfront than you are ready to loose.
  10. I never buy anything on sale anymore before I have searched my inventory (type in the name of the outfit in Search inventory). Let us say I have made some double purchases too...
  11. My guess is that the device you bought allows you to only texture the ground two dimensional. It is no way you can transform your ground into three dimesional grass. You say you have grass for several hundred L that you can't use because it has wrong size. But you see, the most natural way to use this prim grass is to let them overlap. Mix plain flat green grass squares and circles with flowering thicker organic shapes, use poppies and bluebells... let them grow out like they were sprouting out of the ground! If you have open spots between, you can put down a cluster of sculpted stones, or something else botanical. Or just leave it open. I really miss my SL garden. It's a shame that RL takes up so much of my time that I abandoned my land. This is a mix of Kidd and Organica grass.
  12. I downloaded Another Skins Starlight files, http://sites.google.com/site/another/resources I opened the Face template, turned off all layers until I had only the eyeliner. Adding a new layer, I painted my own makeup, using the skin template eyeliner as a reference. Can also merge the skin eyeliner with your makeup, it is nice. I also used the freckles with some makeups. I haven't done cheeks, but I would do them the same way. Saved the layer as "Save For Web & Devices" in PNG-24, size 512 x512. Uploaded it and used it on tattoo layer.
  13. What Lyra said. And also, sometimes it is boxes stacked under the big poster. Sometimes the boxes look like Hair color boxes you buy in RL. But also, I have had trouble buying sometimes, when it's not possible to click the "buy" options. It could be something the store owner did wrong, or simply a SL glitch. If the demo option is the big picture and the full prize version is small boxes on the side, the demo "box" could be covering them, making it impossible to buy. So it depends what the OP means, can she see options to buy full prize hair, and it will not let her buy it? Or is it impossible to find out where to buy?
  14. No, but I can take a guess that the TP board had a large texure when I zoom in on it and reduce draw distance to a minimum. Still it was loaded after the potted plants around it and the floor texture. I learnt early that things close to me rez faster when I reduce draw distance, and also that clicking on things make them load faster. I can also get the name of the item up that way. Can be useful to name your Teleport board "Teleport" and Store map "Store map" instead of "Object". Same goes for malls and sims with a fixed TP point. Your shop name should be easy to read from a distance. Try in RL when you design your store sign, stand up and walk a bit from the computer. Then look at the screen. Can you read the writing? Time is really the issue here. I started to shop more from the Marketplace, just so I can reduce the time spent on looking around. It is nice to do shopping and exploring in beautiful sims, but in a limited amount of time it is just stressful.
  15. I will try this! I wish it was a script you could have in your AO that let you adjust this. That way, I could change viewers and not worry about where to find it.
  16. Thank you Cerise! Anyone who knows where I can fix this in Viewer 2 and/or Kirsten? I have 4 viewers installed atm (Viewer2, Kirsten, Phoenix and Snowglobe), and feel that a fifth is a bit too much.
  17. Is there a way to adjust how high your avatar stand/walk over ground in viewer2 based viewers? I am really struggling with the feet disappearing in ground, and since I prefer to take photos on different locations I can't just toss out a poseball either. Most sims are no rez. I need to use 2 tattoo layers, and that leaves Phoenix out.
  18. Yes and no. As Winter pointed out, shops with outstanding products will get sales, no matter what. But the others who sell more average products in competition with others, better beware of making their shop confusing and slow to rez. If I know I can find the same product elsewhere, like a pair of jeans, I am much less patient. My RL income allows me to spend 20 000 L a month in SL, some times the double. That may sound like much, but in reality it equals renting a couple of movies. I do have a hard time buying the best of an gamer machine, that load SL in seconds. I simply need to use my money on other things first. My computer isn't awful, but it isn't good either. I am the kind of customer you loose if your shop takes forever to rez. Store signs and teleporters should always have small texures that load fast. If your furniture, plants and other decorations are loaded before your signs and vendors, then you do it wrong. This is really inportant for big shops.
  19. I remember the same glitch happened a year ago. Just the same happened then. I would recommend you to get alpha textures from here: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Marketplace/729882: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/Marketplace/729882 Why do I recommend these and not the free ones another one pointed you to? Well, you use Phoenix and can only use one alpha mask at a time. The free alpha mask for hiding system lashes was no modify. It means that when you put on that one, you can't wear an alpha mask for your feet.... And you can't modify the alpha mask for lashes, so you have to choose between the lashes or those great shoes!:womansurprised: I have used several viewers the last year and quickly learnt to edit alpha masks, or make my own. It is much more easy when the creator of shoes left the alpha mask modifiable. I would then wear the shoe alpha mask, go into appearance mode and edit the alpha mask, dropping the "no lashes" texture on the hair part. Or was it the head part? Hope I remember right.... I haven't had much time for SL in weeks. I then use "save as" and save the alpha mask as "No lashes maitreya shanti" so I know that's the modified mask I use when I am using a viewer that don't support multiple layers. If the shoe alpha is no modify, then you have to build an custom alpha mask from scratch. The layers set I linked to has some foot alphas. But you can find a big pack of free alpha texures + modifiable masks in The Forum Cartel Hangout. They are created by Imnotgoing Sideways. You then go into appearance mode without wearing an alpha mask, and create a new alpha mask. How to create alpha masks, shown in this video: Instead of ticking the box under each alpha mask part, you select the texure you will use there. If you have a modifiable alpha mask, you will see how that is made. And a last tip: If you will wear prim eyes and hide the system eyes, just tick the box under the eyes part, and the system eyes disappear totally.
  20. I wonder if it's a light problem. The default windlight settings creates sharp shadows over the face, the triangular light spots can make the cheekbones look sharper. In your second pictures, the light is more soft. Do you use the default light? I always switch to a windlight setting by Ana Lutetia, or make my own windlight setting as explained here: http://juicybomb.com/2010/04/22/gogos-updated-windlight-tutorial/
  21. Hehe, I don't dare to be so frank... Maybe a better approach is to start a conversation about the "What's your Digits?" group on Flickr? http://www.flickr.com/groups/digits/ Then you could discuss it, and just say things like: "Don't you think it looks better with longer arms, like that guy has? Oh look, his head is 70! You shouldn't think it is so big? It looks just the right size, yeah? What's your head size?" One of my male alts is there, you would probably say he has too small hands too. Oh well, I mess a bit with the shapes all the time. :smileywink: http://www.flickr.com/photos/27764102@N02/5638241488/in/photostream
  22. TonkTastic has great stuff, but more for military roleplay. But you could mix up it, and even if you use magic, it is handy to have a gun as backup? These combat pants come with the gun, you can toggle it off. Low lag scripts and fully removable, that is good for roleplay sims that can be laggy.http://www.flickr.com/photos/27764102@N02/5378727051/in/photostream
  23. Maybe because I don't understand English well enough... I am a bit confused. For me, "Dark modern urban setting" and "Magic user" does not sound as they belong in the same Roleplay. I like the coats from Mr. Poet. You get a lot for your money. Well sculpted attachments too. This can be worn without the mask part, and several other options for the sweather, scarf and coat. The fedora is elegant and the eyepatch and scar under is a nice touch. The fedora does not come with hair, so you need to edit a hair to fit. Fedora: Illusions, eyepatch/scar, SiniStyle. They also have the "death dealer coat" if you want a more "all black" look. https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/SiniStyle-Death-Dealer-Coat/163754 Eros Eternal wrote: Hey everyone, I am involved in the Toxian City RP but have not been too active in the community. I want to get into Roleplaying again and wanted to ask advice on how I should dress my avi and how I should make him look. Toxian City takes place in a dark modern urban setting. I am playing a "magic user" and would like my appearance to showcase this. Any tips, suggestions or stores to shop at would be greatly appreciated! Can't wait to hear everyones creative ideas. Thanks in advance!
