  1. Many, many people will sell or rent the land you need to build on - with or without a shop building included. Look at the Land Forums (http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Land-Forum/ct-p/LandForum). If you want to buy a building then you already have good answers above - it is also easy and fun to build your own though; and free! [PS : I vote you king of the cryptic question. It would help us all if you explained in more detail what you are asking. In this and a number of your previous questions you simply don't make it clear. Write in your own language if English is difficult for you.]
  2. Welcome to the scripting forum. Your "tracker" was a person, a stalker. This thread relates to objects programmed (scripted) to track your location.
  3. As mentioned, LL will not become involved in inter-resident disputes. If this issue is important enough you need to contact your RL lawyer/police and obtain a court order to get the landlord's RL details and then take them to RL court. All this will take time and money, of course. If this isn't important enough then the only thing you can do is shrug it off as "one of those things" in SL (and make sure you tell everyone you meet who is thinking of using the same landlord). Do not name names here or share conversation logs without permission - both of these could get you in trouble with LL (yeah, I know - punish the victim - but it's their platform and their rules).
  4. Although LL won't get involved in inter-resident disputes they WILL act when someone breaks the forum rules by naming names here. You are therefore asking the OP to get into more trouble, apart from losing money. {If you go to NCI (Kuula sim) or Caledon Oxbridge (sim of the same name) their helpers and other people will be able to suggest ways of finding reputable and reliable landlords).
  5. Gadget Portal wrote: At the sim where I'm staff, I regularly see people wearing 500 to 900 scripts. Usually resizers. Ouch, that's bad. I wouldn't expect to see that sort of thing these days at all. Worst I heard of though was 36,000 scripts! A newbie who only knew how to 'wear' a folder-full of items, not single things. So she wore her entire colour-collection of a particular hairstyle, each one of which had a per-prim resizer script. ^^
  6. http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlSetStatus and http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/LlSetAlpha You control whether it's "on" or "off" with a global variable that you toggle in your http://wiki.secondlife.com/wiki/Touch_end event-handler (preferred to touch_start() for reason which we don't need to go into here).
  7. Oh yeah, LL took that away when they changed the forum software. Their only option for advertisers is paying for in-world ads. The PrincessBox posting in this forum is even more blatant. Ahh well, I can't even find the posting guidelines now anyway and meanwhile we'll keep bumping this thread, lol.
  8. Don't pay anything to anyone for anything until you know you'll be staying! There are millions of good-quality freebies of all sorts, a lot of land to explore and all the building tools and entertainment you could want for free before you start committing real money. The only thing that you'll have to pay for, if you decide you want it, is land, Without it you can't leave something permanently 'rezzed' in-world - like a house - but for everything temporary there are public 'sandbox' areas (all the helper organisations I mentioned offer sandboxes so people can learn to build things). If you do find something that grabs you and decide to stay in SL for a while you'll probably want to rent some land and/or a house (on land). Getting a premium subscription is only one way to do this - the helper organisations you visit will be able to explain all that too. Have fun :-)
  9. Start by going to NCI (Kuula sim - it's usually so busy my computer can't cope with it!), Caledon Oxbridge, Builders' Brewery or one of the other in-world helper organisations. Not only will they provide you with help, advice and freebies but they run regular classes and other events for newbies that can attract quite a crowd. Finally, you'll meet people who can recommend other places to visit and at what times they are likely to be busy - a lot can depend on the timezones the owners cater for.
  10. Kelli May wrote: Czari Zenovka wrote: Yep, search on the MP can be a roll of the dice. Last night I was used the search terms "Victorian+hair" (without the quotation marks). I was searching for hairstyles from the Victorian era. I apparently should have included "female" in there because I came up with several pages of this: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/AA-Casanova-Hair-Silver-victorian-baroque-rococo-roleplayer-mens-ponytail-hairstyle/1961033 Or this: https://marketplace.secondlife.com/p/AA-0815-Judge-Wig-Creamblonde-victorian-baroque-rococo-roleplayer-mens-judgeking-hairstyle-Promo-color/4120306 While the second item was interesting (who knew one could get that, or wanted it, in SL!), the Baroque era "...encompassed the years of 1600-1750..." while the Victorian era was during 1837-1901, give or take a little on each era but distinctly different, including clothing & hairstyle. Let's get it right! When I'm looking for Victorian era hair, I don't want to end up wearing an English barrister wig. :matte-motes-sour: Don't get me started. I've done some living history in RL, so I'm regularly frustrated/entertained by the average merchant's concept of historical garb. 'Medieval' as a search term will bring up classical Roman & Greek clothing, Viking weapons, Elizabethan dresses, Restoration coats, Victorian underwear and more Gorean silks than you can shake a whip at. One search tip... the search accepts Boolean* operators written longhand in caps, so try " victorian AND hair" (no quotes). *George Boole lived mostly through the Victorian era, as it happens! Hey they had fancy dress parties in the middle ages too! All those medieval dressing-up as ancient Romans and Greeks and the way-out ones going for 'sci-fi' Elizabthan :-)
  11. WuShin wrote: ... If you have a decent computer that complies with SL requirements you should never experience "lag" or freezing (unless there is a server problem) however; it seems that at least 50% of the people on SL have non-compliant computers and they will blame you for being over scripted which is in fact crap... While it is true that scripts have the lowest processing priority and that, therefore, scripts only lag other scripts the can be significant impact on a sim when a lot of scripts have to be rezzed at once (eg; when someone wearing tons enters the sim). It is also important to remember that the 'other' scripts you are lagging are probably ones the sim-owner considers more important than the ones in your clothes ^^ Similarly, other people in the sim may be a bit miffed if one person is hogging what script processing time is available. Of course that still leaves 'too many scripts' as an almost entirely subjective number,
  12. Not a request for nor an offer of employment, rather an advert contrary to the posting guidelines. Be warned, this could be RIC'd and deleted. (I don't suppose LL care that much though compared to the Mumbai spammers. As far as I know the only place adverts are allowed is for land rental/sales in the appropriate fora).
  13. Traductor Google no puede hacer sentido de que, aparte de la palabra "trabajo" que me di cuenta de todos modos. Por favor escriba su pregunta en español u otro idioma reconocible, y que puede ser capaz de ayudar.
  14. There is no official way. There is no useful way. There is only what some groups believe and some groups don't. Whether you believe what people put in their profiles is entirely up to you.
  15. a) We get lots of people asking questions on behalf of their 'friends'. You won't be able to do anything about this though. Your friend will have to contact LL's billing department - and pay the outstanding amount. b) How well do you really know this 'friend'? If not really well, in RL, then beware of scammers playing the begging card. You could lose a lot of prefectly good money on a 'friend' who isn't either.
  16. This is new to me and I have nothing helpful to say at the moment. Other helpers: note that this would seem similar to http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Viewers/since-the-last-update-my-right-hand-doesn-t-show-up-why/qaq-p/2218593 so maybe there's a new bug. Hard to think what would just cut hands off though, unless these are all Islamic fundamentalist thieves.
  17. A good answer and reasonably well considered. However, things like: Michaelatv Destiny wrote: ...what I do in Second life, ... Try to make Airports viable, flying many types of Aircaft from Civil Airliners to Hovercrafts, plus sensible crossings ... after the land fee hike killed most of the clubs, of which I was Owner of one (and land), and Manager of a German Shemale Club... Just show you are trying to use SL for things it was never designed for and then complaining that it doesn't do them. Wet clothes and a dog that responds when you whistle? Not LL's issue. Getting rid of the 256x256m grids? Absolutely - but would require a fundamental re-write of SL, which is (yes) what it needs but (no) isn't 'simple' or at all likely to happen. Different subject (sort of): Michaelatv Destiny wrote: ...As a pensioner now, I dont, and never had the training, or the funds to buy and make 3D Civil airliners, or indeed, any 3D models, the complicated legal stuff to use mesh models, and how to learn what extension to use to upload it is beyond me. My friends who do upload mesh models, are relunctant to discuss or help me at all with how to do this, which is rather sad really, as Im sure they think Im going to be a threat to there own builds If i did. This is what I really want to do in SL, since 2010 But its no longer viable for me. ... No funds are required to use the built-in 3D tools (aka prims). THAT is what SL was designed for! Training is easily available, at no cost, from NCI, Caledon Oxbridge, Builders' Brewery or any number of other in-world helper organisations. There is also support and assistance here in the creation forums and across the internet on other sites. There is no cost, either, in using Blender (amongst others) for mesh - training there is a bit of a problem but mostly relates to the need to be able to share a screen in order to see what you see and do and point out various on-screen features of the tool (I have no easy solution for you there). Sculpties, as a poor-man's mesh, have similar issues but if you can afford to rent so much land in SL you could easily buy - and learn to use - Sculpt Studio and Mesh Studio, amongst other in-world modelling tools that go further than basic prims. Fundamental problems with SL that you mention: Land fees, grid system, lack of real weather? I agree, but that IS what SL is. Potholes in roads, clothes and dogs are all just things that people here may, or may not, make. The technical issues involved in changing the grid system are pretty huge but the cultural problems of LL providing the content are probably bigger - weather systems were discussed years ago but most people just shut themselves in their home parcels and went all 'dreem' (Dead Right Everyone Except Me) on it. That leaves land fees. There I agree with you and it's something LL could easily change if they wished. They don't appear to wish to though, so I take it their model is working for them. We just have to live with it, or not, they've been told many, many times. [Don't let the forum join date fool you, I have been in SL at least as long as you and I also have 30-odd years experience in software development. That's why I say the things I do about the SL platform and the, not amazing, GTA V. I do retract 'pretty' though, GTA deserves better than that disparaging remark. My point remains - SL is what it is and the HUGE changes you want are not likely to happen in the forseeable future, however much they would improve the world.]
  18. In order to buy homestead or open-region sims you must already own a full sim. If this is the case you will qualify for live chat and you should use it to discuss your requirements with LL. Since you are intending to spend more money with them they should be pleased to help you.
  19. Please see my answer in http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Getting-Started/Am-new-And-I-don-t-understand-weather-second-life-can-be-used-on/qaq-p/2219159 One of the 'features' of smart phones which is rarely mentioned is that they are easier to stick up your ... nose ... than a laptop*. This seems as good a reason as any - ie; no good reason at all - for thinking they can do the same sort of things. Please note that should you manage to get a view in-world the char window will have tiny, tiny text on it. [* Don't try this at home. Illustrations using tower computers were created with video-editing software and specially-trained idiots who didn't know any better] [PS: Actually, I quite like smart phones, it's just that there's still a lot of things they can't cope with. Unlike tablets which just seem completely wrong to me - too big to be pocket-portable, too small to be capable of real work].
  20. Linden Lab does not involve themselves in inter-resident disputes. Therefore, if the seller does not respond to you your only recourse is to your RL lawyer and/or police. They will be able to get the RL contact details for the seller from LL and you can then sue the seller in RL court. This will take some time. And cost some money. If it doesn't seem worth it you'll just have to write it off as "one of those things" in SL.
  21. Marketplace maybe Dilbert - if it's a marketplace error - but not in-world transactions. LL never get involved with those.
  22. Don't know about 'game' but it sounds like your hardware or internet connection isn't nearly good enough for Second Life. Does it meet the system requirements? What are your ping and packet-loss figures (try pingtest.net)?
  23. The newest software I've written is an AI solver constraint-satisfaction problems. Mostly I'm trying different language and state-representation models to test speed/memory trade-offs. In none of the versions I have so far does it cause any of the problems you mention (except crashing every now and again in development versions). In response to your previous question you were advised to revert to an earlier version of LL's viewer. If the latest one doesn't work for you don't use it!
