  1. Yes, the wiki is out of date. Spare time was added somewhere along the way and the wiki didn't get updated. Total Frame Time should be around 22.222 ms because the frame rate is 45 and 1000ms/45 = 22.222 which is how long the server has to do its stuff to generate the frame. If there is no free time it means that the server doesn't have time to do everything that it needs to do. That means you are going to get server lag. The other stats in that section tell you the cause.
  2. I have a logitech mouse which has a setup program which includes the ability to set a button to a Keystroke Assignment. Maybe you have something like this. I just typed mouse in search to find it.
  3. Desperado, oh, you ain't getting no younger, Your pain and your hunger, they're drivin' you home. And freedom, oh freedom well, that's just some people talkin' your prison is walking through this world all alone.
  4. 1. Make sure you are using the latest 64bit version of firestorm. 2. Go to Preferences/Graphics and hit the button that looks like a refresh icon (circle with an arrow).
  5. You can't log in to SL at the moment because there is some maintenance work being done. The link you mention will tell you when this is completed. Log into your account on the SL website to check your account. Click on Account in the options on the left of the page and then go to Transaction History. There you will see your account balance and recent transactions. This will show if you really spent any money and show who to. If you have lost money you can contact the person when you can log back in. Don't worry, you will sort it out.
  6. I love my mesh suit. Much better than the painted on version, but I am with Rolig on the gowns. nothing like a good flexi prim skirt. Also as someone else said, a mini skirt with an alpha showing underneath is a bit disconcerting. Not that I'm looking. Honest, honest!
  7. I hate it when that happens.
  8. The answer is the one that you like the best. My recomendation is Firestorm. It is the most stable viewer, according to Linden Lab. it is the most popular viewer on the grid and it has the best support.
  9. It will make a good word processor. You can probably log into Secondlife with Radegast viewer. I would be surprised if any other viewer will even start. Suggest that you think about upping your budget a bit, like x2.
  10. The installation has to register a filter which requires adminstrator rights so please run the setup As Administrator.
  11. Did you make all but the eyebrow area alpha. If not it would not be surprising that you get a color change using a snapshot. I would delete all but the eyebrow area and make it all alpha and then fade in the eyebrow area to the alpha so that there isn't a line
  12. Try to figure out where the bottleneck is. If it is the same on every sim it would suggest that it is either a network problem, the graphics card is not coping or the CPU is maxed out. Check the network and CPU in Task Manager. If the CPU is high 90-100 % on the Performance tab look at the process tab, click on the CPU column to bring the heavy users to the top and see which processes are using the most CPU. Maybe the anti virus is going crazy or a disk defragger. For Networking check the Network tab. See what happens when you change the bandwidth setting in the viewer. Go as low as you can, as high as you can and somewhere in the middle. To check how the graphics card is behaving download Open Hardware Monitor. Go to the view menu and select Plot to see the graph. Then select under the graphics card section under the Load sub section GPU load and GPU memory. Check it with and without your viewer running. Then see what happens when you change the graphics settings.
  13. It is a network problem, not the viewer. Could be your end, could be SL end or could be something in the middle. There has been some unscheduled maintenance on the SL grid over the last couple of days. If you are still having the problem try re-booting your router. Check that the router firewall is running correctly (if you don't know how to google your router make and model + firewall). Run a broadband speed test and see if the speed is what you expect. If not put in a support call to your supplier.
  14. Do you get an error message? Did you try logging on to a different sim?
  15. A couple of Ideas, If you are using a third party viewer, such as Firestorm, go to Sound & Media in Preferences and click the Manage Media Sites. Make sure it isn't blocked. Otherwise toggling sound on and off will sometimes fix the problem.
  16. No, they can't. the person who is telling you this is winding you up.
  17. You would need to put the visitors in a list and then check it. see llDetectedKey and llListFindList in the wiki You could add a note card for a list of residents who "do not need it" and have your script read them into the list. See 'Notecard reading' in the wiki. The list will get cleared on script reset.
  18. Happens from time to time. You could try on a different sim. Or you just have to wait for a few minutes.
  19. It is not that reliable unfortunately. The person viewing must have Media Enable selected in Preferences/sound & Media/ General Tab If the person viewing does not have flash they won't be able to view youtube. If the person viewing installed flash from a download from internet explorer they won't be able to view youtube in a SL viewer. In this case they can install a version of flash for other browsers from here: http://get.adobe.com/flashplayer/otherversions/ Carefully avoiding the McAffe spam (yuck) offer
  20. Giving away one of my top scripting secrets here. Type 'lsl wand' into Google. The first two hits look promising.
  21. No, there isn't one (API or built in lsl command). I use a combination of this name2key via Google (converted to aspx) and external databases solutions. So, if the Google search fails it will try to find the name in an external databases, of which I think I have 4 listed which it will try in turn. As far as I can see the Google option is always working. It is very reliable right now but you are right to be concerned that something may change that will break it at some time in the future. The only thing that you can really do is make sure that you get an alert of some kind if it starts to fail. Getting users to type in names is a bit of a worrying thought, don't forget that some users have 1 name and some have 2.
