  1. Yeah, your probably right Psycho/zombifying zombifing/pshcho you pays your money and you takes your choice.
  2. Also: Preferences/Firestorm/Avatar/Amount that Avatar's head Follows Mouse... Set both sliders to zero. @Coby That HUD is cool, I don't remember seeing one with eye movement before. Very handy for close up portraits etc.
  3. Your computer/graphics are not a high enough specification to run a normal SL viewer. Your graphics is an integrated chip (part of the mother board). In most cases this will not have enough power to run the complex graphics in second life. So the message you are getting is just telling you that. One thing you can try is running Radegast Viewer which you can download here: http://radegast.org/wp/ This is mostly a text based connection but there is a tab called "3D Scene" with a low level graphics display if your rig is up to it. The requirement is much lower than the SL viewer or Firestorm and at least you won't get the unhelpful message. If your computer isn't up to running the 3D scene then you just won't see that tab. Your other option is to buy a new computer. If you want to do that decide on your budget and get lots of advice from different sources so that you get the best you can for your money.
  4. If you select the options under My look at targets on the LookAt page of the Privacy tab in Preferences it will stop your eyes following where you look, which may be the what you are looking for.
  5. If it is the UUID you are after you can also get it like this: keyfromname.appspot.com?name=Scooter Fallen
  6. No, you should AR it but the Lab are not acting on these reports at the moment unfortunately.
  7. Default setting is on. If you turn it off you loose Advanced Lighting. Run Open Hardware Monitor with CPU load GPU Load CPU temperature GPU temperature in the graph. Mess around with the settings and make a comparison see what is happening with temperature and load. I wouldn't be looking at the temperature so much unless either CPU or GPU load are way up into 80%+ I would look at the load on the CPU and GPU. As long as the GPU isn't running really high I would use Hardware skinning but if the GPU is high and the CPU is comparatively low then probably turn it off, You can always turn it back on if you want the lighting for pictures or something.
  8. It is not negative or griefing to ban people from your land but don't grief the griefer you might find yourself on the sticky end of an AR (annoyance report). Where I live we like to keep the land open so anyone can go there, but I wouldn't hesitate to ban someone who was being a nuisance, or who I didn't like the look of for that matter. I have maybe had to do it half a dozen times in the last 5 years.
  9. Go to search and type dxdiag. When dxdiag.exe shows up click on it and go to the display tab. Now paste that info here so that we can see what your card is.
  10. Hmmm, the joy of a prim. if you hollow and then Path Cut you add 2 more sides making 9
  11. You can also do <icon>Icon_For_Sale</icon> which gives you the little $ ticket image. The images come from the skin folder so you can do other stuff as well (nothing that great) but what is displayed to someone else may depend on which skin they are using (not tested it). I tried to get an image from the Internet displayed but couldn't figure out how to do it.
  12. Maybe this will help you get started: http://www.free-lsl-scripts.com/cgi/freescripts.plx?ID=773
  13. You won't get anywhere posting your problem here. Only residents read the forums. Click on the "Forgot your username or password" link on your viewer next to the login button and follow the instructions. If that doesn't work out contact support. When you do, remember that you are just talking to some guy who is doing his job. You will probably get a better response if you are polite and write in clear English. Remember that you forgot your password and that is the cause of the problem.
  14. You can put a different texture on each side of a prim. You can either just drag a texture from your inventory onto the prim side or, to have more control, edit the prim, go to the Texture tab. Select side in the options at the top. Then click on the side of the prim you want to texture. After that you can click on the texture box to pick a texture from your inventory (or drag it to the box) Then you can mess with the settings to change the size and position of the texture on that side of the prim. Good luck with your build
  15. Hmmm, a connection speed of 0.87 MBPS. What does your broadband supplier say that your maximum connection speed should be because that speed is like a piece of string attached to a tin can.
  16. Take a look at this and see if it helps: http://community.secondlife.com/t5/Technical/How-can-i-adjust-windows-time-out-limit-as-it-is-affecting-SL/qaq-p/1265593
  17. The one thing that I can tell you is that I have a 660 and it is a great card in its price range. I run SL in ultra and it never uses all of it's 2GB of memory. Other than that, I would have to say that: A: I wouldn't upgrade this old box you could put in a bunch of new bits, which will cost you and the mother board will blow. I understand you have a budget but you would be much better off with a cheap new box with an upgraded graphics card (and maybe power supply). B: Your connection speed is horrible. I am surprised that you can even log in. I am not sure that you will see that much of an improvement if you don't take care of this.
  18. The thing that kills graphics cards is heat. The more you use them with applications like SL the more they heat up. That's why they have heat sinks and fans (mostly). The pesky thing about it is that as the fans pull in air to cool the heat sink they also pull in dust that clog up the fans. So something that you can do to be pro active ( at your own risk ) is clean the computer inside and out and also make sure that it has some room around it for air to flow. If you haven't cleaned a computer inside before look it up on youtube there are a few good videos on how to do it (tip: turn the power off).
  19. To me that hints at a developing hardware issue. Type event viewer in search and look at the windows logs, most likely System. Look for errors and use the Source and Event ID to google for more info. Sorry it is a bit technical If you do find lots of errors think about backups of any stuff that is important to you.
  20. Although I have had problems that I have suspected were caused by corrupt files I have never seen a message that said that. From what you have said you get the message using different viewers.Hmmm. If the suggestions you have been given so far don't solve the problem it would be useful to know more about the message. What does it say exactly and where does it come from (i.e. is it a message in the viewer or from you OS, does it pop up or did you see it in a log). Could be something else going on here: bad wireless connection, full disk, heavy fragmentation, corrupt disk or something along those lines that is causing files to be corrupt.
  21. I would look for something with an Nvidia graphics card. AMD is said to not work so well with SL (it is also said that most of the problems have been fixed) This type of spec will work ok for general SL usage.
  22. The world map does have a direction indicator. it is a triangular highlight field of view type thingy. Not saying it couldn't be improved
  23. You will most likely not get anywhere by complaining. Often when you buy something in a box it has a default touch action of sell. All you have to do is right click and select Open. Although the advert on the market place doesn't say that it is old it does say that it is a HUD and it doesn't say that it is anything else. Now, if the HUD doesn't work that is one thing. But if the problem is that you don't know how to use HUDs like you don't know how to open boxes then it is up to you to get up to scratch. See if you can't work out how to use the HUD. If you put some effort into it and you still really can't make it work then contact the seller and very politely let them know that it wasn't what you expected and could you please get a refund.
  24. Go to the SL web site and log in. Click on Account and then L$ Transaction History. Now you can see if the Ls really left your account or not. If it did then copy the information about the transaction(s) Now go to this page and open a ticket: https://support.secondlife.com/create-case My guess is that the transaction page will show that the money hasn't been sent. Happens quite often.
