  3. If I were he I would not post here or to SLU. I can assure you of one thing if he does decide to post and that is I will troll him to no end: golf, vampires, pixel sex, Microsoft, Yahoo, Harvard, Lee (no not LeeHere,) inter alia. There is no end to the words I will hurl his way. Welcome Ebbs. PS And the fun part is, from reading this thread, I know I won't be alone. PPS He came to LL to do a job, not waste his time posting to the forum just to appease your sorry asses.
  4. If I was doing any type of FX it would be dollar ruble contract or a euro-basket ruble contract. The ruble is collapsing as we speak Toward this end, there are many other currency trades where money can be made - and it ain't in bitcoin.

BTW: i never play lottery. You can't short bitcoin. So what are you talking about? You may be able to buy a 'put' option through an exchange in Moscow (LOL) if you have the courage to trade on an unregulated Russian exchange run by one dude. Even if you do 'buy' a put on bitcoin you first need to purchase bitcoin to cover the trade (which is near impossible to purchase anyway.) And last but not least the trade settles in bitcoin so even if bitcoin falls drastically in value (which it will very soon) I win on the put bet but I am paid in bitcoin which means I have a whole bunch of bitcoin that has lost most of its value. This my friend is bad math. The upside profit is 0. When the hamburger you paid for in bitcoin settles in the merchant account the value of that hamburger just may have cost you $800USD. And it's not even Kobe beef.
  6. Darrius Gothly wrote: (hung my reply off yours, Heart .. but this is a general response meant for all) Second Life is a complex, deep, intricate, vast, amazing platform. It has literally thousands of nooks and crannies for people to explore, exploit, examine and enjoy. Even those of us with a few years on our Avi know that there is way more here than we could ever hope to comprehend or even encounter in a single human lifetime. IMO: The new CEO should be communicating with us in a manner that exemplifies his/her understanding of that depth and complexity. Twitter is good for firing off 140 character or smaller brain-f*rts but is not in any way capable of demonstrating that one is aware of how deep and involved this Virtual World is .. and should be. Too many people floating near the top of the Linden Lab Org Chart grant SL enough brain time to allow them grasp of one facet: Game play, role play, community, merchandising, etc. etc. But none of them ever seem willing or able to accept the truth that SL is a giant real-world example of Infinity. Honest Ebbe, you don't need to count every atom in the Metaverse to comprehend its size or complexity. But you DO need to approach it with your eyes open, your arms open .. and embracing the larger audience from the very first day. Lol. There you go again, Darrius. I'm sorry you didn't get the position. But I am also glad I didn't have a vote. PS I read he is a match play golfer. He has already satisfied all (which is really the only one) expectation of a CEO that I had. As Teddy would say: bully for him! ETA But I really did like the "Honest Ebbe" I lol'ed.
  7. What's up with the Swede's and palindromic names? Is EBBE known enough to be included as a clue in the NYT crossword?
  8. jujmental wrote: Is it just me that wants to call him Zoidberg? I betcha Ebbe was Abba but he had his name legaly changed. (For all the obvious reasons)

Foursome Ebbe?
  10. I run SL on a laptop i7 (haswell 4th gen) with HD4600 (integrated) running suse 13x kernel 3.11.6. I have draw distance at 64, shadows enabled, and I get FPS of ~40-60 on most sims while in ultra. I don't know what else to benchmark besides FPS - so all is fine for me. My core temps get up to 62c, fans blow lots of air, no problems at all. I have two other laptops with the same configuration as above except one runs CentOS with an older 2.x kernel and I get 1-3 FPS (again the only benchmark I use) and the other runs ubuntu garbage so I have not tested SL.

Amethyst Jetaime wrote In 71/2 years I've seen some fantastic concepts and fantastic looking places but I've never seen a bar or club that charged any kind of cover charge survive long, even members only places that appeal to the snob factor.. The overwhelming majority of people just are not willing to pay a cover period. Frank's Elite started 3 1/2 years ago and has 83,000 members at 500L$ a pop. That's 83,000 snobs. Ka-ching.
  12. Syo Emerald wrote: So you would rather lie to people like him and make him jump into something to waste around 300$, if not more? Since when do participants of this forum discriminate? They seem to lie to everyone, not just him. Who are we to tell him how to spend his money? I am not his mother or his accountant or his friend. His world, your imagination? I was delighted to see him stand his ground against all the naysayers; the "older" players who think they know SL better than everyone else. I find it similar to Darrius writing last week what "we' need from the new CEO. I laugh so hard when I read such nonsense.

Go figure. A few less commas and a a few more periods would have nailed it. PS I love this thread as it is chockful of good drama. /tips his hat to the OP, well done standing your ground. Good luck with your venture.
  15. I don't. There are several wretched posters to SLF that need a hug (actually they demand a hug) much more than you. PS I hate hugging ... it's so 1980's.

That being said, most privately held companies do not 'vote' on a CEO position .... the position is appointed. Influence is EVERYTHING. You lack when we speak of such qualities whereas I do not. I can not vote but I do have influence. And my answer is still an emphatic no. LOL Well of course we don't vote on the new CEO. Odd you did not comprehend my true meaning as you usually demonstrate a very high degree of reading comprehension. (Perhaps you're just having an off day, eh?) However we do agree that influence, and just as importantly the business connections one keeps, are of utmost importance in being considered and hired. As for our respective levels of influence, It would be pointless for us to have a "dangle measuring" contest, especially as regards the backrooms and boardroom of Linden Lab. No doubt your contacts take great pains to convince you that you are of great importance in their decision making process. It is always important to make the mark feel needed, integral, perhaps even indispensible at all times. Are you trying to butter me up? My answer is still a no. ETA Fixed a typo Dillon had too much fun with it.
