Ok, the responses thus far have been all warm n fuzzy but in the spirit of xmas consumerism I must point out that Santa not only forgot the Dyson I so badly wished for but he left booty shorts under the tree... Wha? Who are these for? Surely not! I RIC'ed your other post to this thread. Imo, that was a nasty 'trick' you attempted by embedding arabic hot links within Tara's comment. You are a spammer. The scum of the earth.

Regarding fluorescent lights, where do they make an impact? Near the router (not an issue it's in a cupboard), near the PC? Or anywhere in between? And what about LED? You wrote a lot in your OP but you actually wrote nothing. There are many points of faliure/latency when connecting to SL. Yes, ethernet is best but a properly configured wireless router will work at levels that are more than sufficient for you to enjoy SL. One item I found with DLink routers is the QoS is enabled by default. I would access the router and disable. Believe it or not you will get much better results with this easy fix. I get ~70 FPS with a wireless. Re: fluorescent lights. If you have a bad ballast on the fixture then perhaps you will get some interference. Below is a post from Cisco: "In reality, the many other types of devices emitting in the unlicensed band dwarf the number of 802.11 devices. These devices include microwave ovens, cordless phones, Bluetooth devices, wireless video cameras, outdoor microwave links, wireless game controllers, Zigbee devices, fluorescent lights, WiMAX, and so on. Even bad electrical connections can cause broad RF spectrum emissions. These non-802.11 types of interference typically don't work cooperatively with 802.11 devices, and can cause significant loss of throughput. In addition, they can cause secondary effects such as rate back-off, in which retransmissions caused by interference trick the 802.11 devices into thinking that they should use lower data rates than appropriate." I have never encountered these problems with a properly configured wireless connection; and if I did it would be too onerous to track down and fix. So, to this end, I would not worry. If you are still having issues then I suggest more RAM or a different GPU and drivers.

If you honestly expect each and every service provider to do everything for you, you will live in eternal disappointment. That is your choice. One. Solitary. Step. Look up the UCCSL. One. Solitary. Step. And they fell on their face.
  4. I want to say "I told you so" so I will ... I told you so. The ToS I signed did not and does not affect my SL experience. I shop and buy gifts for myself and friends; I recognize a fairly healthy economy within SL. When compared to other grids/worlds SL is without peer. While I agree with the owner and founder of UCCSL wresting back control of her group from some of the more 'aggressive' content creators, I nearly peed myself when i read she wants the group to act/function more like a 'union'. I boycott unions just because I can. I will not purchase any item from MP or in-world shops that has a faux union seal of approval. That's my stand. See you all in in-worldz or Kitely, but not likely. PS Hair fairs and shoe fairs, I see tons of new stuff being created or sold in-world. PPS It's been over 6 months since the new ToS - has LL stolen anything from you? I didn't think so.
  5. Santa looks like me! Oh my, he was me. PS But I didn't write the thank you note.
  6. I left for Santa a Havana and a bottle of Makers's on the table next to my chimney. Christmas morning I noticed half the bottle was drank and half the cigar was smoked. Santa left me a wonderful thank-you note -- which is all I really wanted.
  7. How old are you? And no I'm not projecting an a/s/l meme. You don't know the answer to the questions you ask in your OP? I don't think you are being bullied into disclosing anything, but I think you want to be bullied. I couldn't care any more than I do about your immersiveness--you are what you are. Write to others with kindness and respect and you will receive the same in return -- even if you are a furrie, rasta, or other. I doesn't matter. Find a different group of people is the easiest answer., but I suspect you already know this. You did not mention whether this group of people you consider to be friends; they are just a group, right? I am sure you disclose to 'friends' that you are not what you appear to be in their viewer, or how else can you be a friend?
  8. I'll now have to purchase "Lolcats for Dummies" If these posts keep up I may RIC my own thread.
  9. As the Japanese would say, I almost had an election when I read you post. Almost.

You and Ivan are conclusive proof that capitalism isn't just regressive - it's boring. And you are proof that idiocy isn't just for the few - it's ubiquitous. ZZZ... Maybe Mother Teresa would have been a better OP? Or, perhaps President Mandela? Better yet, Trevon Martin. You may have gotten more sympathy from the forum participants. But Communism? Fail.

But what do you offer? NOTHING! You want the hand-out. I ain't leaving ... I am standing my ground.
