  1. I was watching a video earlier, and I thought of your post. I have not used vrchat, have no clue about the functionality, but in one video I was looking at it appears that they have the ability to record from separate cameras. At around the 3:19 mark you will see what I mean, the avatar seems to reach out to the camera, adjust it, and continues to drive, it appears that they have two cameras in the application, one which they are viewing through from the perspective of the avatar, and a second which is recording. Imagine having that feature in SL, now that would be a real treat, especially if we were to have multiple cameras we could set to record videos from. The only way I think we could do that currently, is to have separate viewers loaded, with alts acting out the part of the camera, while recording. Even then though, I am not sure if you were using one computer for this, how difficult it would be to record from multiple viewers at once.
  2. I remember back in the 90s, VRML was pretty hyped - at least for a short time. I think we came close to it, but the problem is that no one really seemed to want it or perhaps just did not have the hardware for it. I thought it was really cool, but from a practicality standpoint a two dimensional representation for stores, forums, and so on, are just more convenient. When I think of a multiverse, I mostly think of the web in a 3d setting, where people host their sites on a server, and we have 3d browsers hopping from site to site, it is more of a standard that is used to build such a VR site. VRML as far as I am aware (not incredibly familiar with it) is still around, the problem is, there just is no demand for it. I don't think any of us will live long enough to see it, simply because very few people seem to be interested in it as a means to replace the web. Perhaps if it came close enough to simulate real life, there would be a demand for it, but right now, it is kind of out there. I'm sure it could be done better than this, but this gives you an idea. I imagine AR will be more popular in the future, which will give us an overlay over the real world, before we see a metaverse start to exist fully in VR. I suppose the metaverse could be considered AR though, right? Dystopian future! 🤣 Okay, not realistic, by this point I imagine food delivery services will be automated, and people will be getting UBI or something.. who knows?
  3. You missed out on Eliza, then HAL, cleverbot, and so many others. While entertaining, they were incredibly limited in their responses, same with Pandora bots, which while fun would be very limited in their replies. I never got a chance to speak with Microsoft's Tay, but hot damn she was a hot mess, mostly due to the people who conversed with her, that were even worse.
  4. As far as I have experienced, it is the best virtual world I have visited. There is a large open world, the ability to create in the virtual setting, it is pretty close to what I would envision a metaverse to be. Opensim is great as well, but it is based upon SL, it is heavily reliant on Second Life and often tails behind the innovations made here. Plus, I do enjoy having access to a superior marketplace, and feel safer with my inventory being stored on LL's servers. I have not logged into VRchat, so I can't comment on that, I do think Sansar, IMVU, and Avakinlife lag behind, because I see them more so as glorified instanced chatrooms. My interest in a metaverse would not be so much socializing as it would be exploration, and I think that is fundamental to a metaverse. The problem with the other ones I have visited, is that they are designed almost solely around socializing, and not exploration, there is also a steeper incline to express yourself creatively.
  5. Triple M is a great bartender, quick at filling my glass, always has something to say, never too busy to keep up with a conversation, doesn't demand tips.. and hell, the drinks are free 🙃 Peeve: Anubis still refuses to give me a long island ice tea.
  6. I'll have to ask him 🤣 Woah! He did look out for my safety, Triple M is a good bartending bot, much better than the miscreant.. Anubis! I think I will hang out more here, than at Helios. (actually, I got to check out Helios, perhaps they will give him some AI love as well)
  7. I like the bartender here: So, I'm sipping away at my liit, when things take an interesting turn. I'm going to have to come here on a Friday night, to see how many residents end up at the bar chatting away with the bartender while they sip on their drinks. Perhaps I might see some of you there 🤣🥰
  8. Chatting with bots at the beach. I got to get a feel of them, before I can make them useful. Fire ember kept wandering off whenever I asked her to have a seat, she would walk off far away into the ocean. It did not take long to get them all to join me though, now I have my bot army and I am getting my plans underway. soon we will take over SL! They are pretty neat though, there are a few commands that they will tell you that they are capable of, so far I only notice "Follow me" works, they don't seem to have the capacity to interpret the landscape around them via image to text translation, unfortunately, but they are pretty cool. Now, as for that plan. /me assembles team bot-force and makes way to the Helios Casino ---------- If you want to play around with them, you can go here: http://maps.secondlife.com/secondlife/Darcys Clubhouse/210/18/22
  9. I've never felt that way in SL, and now I think I am weird for it 🤣 I have enough things to feel weird about, now I have to add this to my list 🙃
  10. I'm pretty sure I saw the Falcon rocket in the sky today, it might not have been the rocket, but it was shortly after it launched, in the right direction, and wow that thing was moving fast. It was a cloudy day, so I did not get to see it for very long, I could see it in areas where the cloud coverage was not severe. I kind of wish I had a telescope and wonder how well I would have been able to make it out. This is the first time I actually went outside to take a look in the sky after a rocket launch, and did not think it would be possible to see it slightly over 100 miles away (161 km) but apparently it can be visible from that range, plus perhaps it was closer to me by the time I saw it.. Doesn't it look like one of those UFO pictures you always see on conspiracy sites? It is grainy, and looked so much more clear in real life, my phone camera is lousy. It was very reflective, and shot across the sky in seconds. Here is a video that is much better than my picture It felt kind of surreal, delightful, and I enjoyed it for the few seconds that I watched it. I think from now on, I will try to catch a glimpse whenever a rocket goes off, and perhaps purchase a cheap telescope, and if it is inexpensive also a camera to capture the moment.
  11. So, I've moved on from easy diffusion to stable diffusion, and have been having a blast. I created this using RevAnimated I installed InstantID into Automatic1111 and used this picture (once again) as my face model and started playing around with it. The below is one of my first tries. It kind of merges both faces but I'm working on it. Then I thought I would give a statue a try I love this statue, anyway, I removed the back ground and used InstantID again Meh, it is a work in progress, but still a lot of fun.
  12. It looks amazing, I was checking out a few videos on it and look forward to the multitude of indie game developers on a budget being able to create decent games using this. I look forward to seeing it used in SL for outfits, as well as textures for a multitude of mesh items. I think I will try to install it later on to goof around with, assuming my computer can support it. I might try to upload some outfits with it later. It is really cool that we live in a time that allows people with a little technical knowledge, the ability to create things like this on the fly. Especially considering the time constraints a lot of us have, hopefully, we will see a lot of content for SL in the near future due to tools like this.
  13. It is too risky for me, plus I don't like the idea of wired needles being shoved into my brain at different locations, I would worry about infection, or blood vessels being hit, plus the possibility of my body trying to reject it, then how long the would be effective until the brain gunk buildup on the electrodes rendered them inoperable.. The technology is too new, there are too many risks, not enough people have had it done, and it is not necessary. I do think there have been electrodes people can use that do not require surgery to move things around on computers already. If I needed it, I would do it, but I would rather find less invasive ways to control my screen. Now, say that there was proven technology out there, the risks were few, it was long lasting, and I could do more than just move a cursor on the screen sure.
  14. Causing a ruckus in MoTown Mech smash!! That made me a bit hungry, so I stopped for a bite to eat.. then I had a bit of a caffeine buzz and this got loopy Still learning how to pilot this thing. I tried my hand at singing, but the Christmas trees were distracting.
  15. Sounds good, I'm ready to take on some bots right now We just need to get @Sid Nagy removed from the banlist.
  16. New idea for the welcome area, a region devoted to bot fights. LLMs are a must, because we need to not only see the battle, we need to hear them insult one another as well. Then, no cup 'o drama will ever run dry in the forums again.. no one will be left wanting, we can all go to the gladiator bot pits.
  17. It's just one of those days When life gives you lemons, you sell them, then you make popcorn. then lay back and enjoy. nomnomnomnom
  18. The drama reserves have been used, they have dried up, and it will take a few days before they are replenished. You'll all have to just wait for a while until the passion comes back. Here ya go, some McLean to help you all through these difficult times. I don't even think AI bots or security orbs are going to do it for a bit, all of the dopamine receptors need time 🤣
  19. Windows 11 doesn't allow me to move my taskbar. I like it at the top of my desktop, not the bottom. I installed explorer patcher, so that I can have it at the top and it works okay, but I don't understand why Microsoft would think it was a good idea to prevent users from moving it around to where they want. Oh and mixed reality portal doesn't work with it for some reason, I think Microsoft stopped support for it and now I just get the message that it can't be installed. I did have it working the other day, with my older VR goggles and that was exciting, but yesterday I started getting the message that it can not update. I'll have to figure out how to get it working again, because I am not quite ready to drop a few hundred dollars in a newer VR set. I wanted to go to the renaissance faire, but yesterday's forecast showed today to be raining most of the day.. so I decided to call it off 🥹 We did not get a single drop of rain today. Aaand my ankles ache, I walked seven miles today (11 km) while hiking. I hate when my ankles ache.. I need an ankle lock because right now they feel a bit deformed. There, got all of my peeves out for the day, on the plus side I love my new computer, at least my VR goggles work (I thought they died), and I got to enjoy a gorgeous day that was supposed to be raining out all day. Now, I get to have a few drinks and play in SL for a few hours.
  20. That would be ideal 🙃 I have some VR goggles that I thought had died, but tested on my new computer and found they still work 😁 I'm tempted to get a very very long hdmi cable, along with USB cable to bring to my room and drift off to sleep with. It would be kind of trippy to wake up from a dream, to find myself in a virtual world.
  21. @Garnet Psaltery It is pretty easy, I usually just add photos at the bottom of the message box Then I click on them when I want to add them into the post, I usually have to press enter a few times to space them out Hello there! I was looking for AI mentors at a dance club referenced in a video here, alas there were none. Checking out the old linden homes yesterday, after seeing a post about hobbit homes and later found this neat underground roadway on the mainlands
  22. I've been all over the place in SL today, and despite wanting to stay logged in this is where I have found myself at It is time to turn in, get some sleep, and come back to the sweet sound of my swirling electric fans on my computer in the morning. I'm counting noobs jumping in the volcano to help me drift off into sleep.
