  1. I love this one; I set up Botanical's fae lights on my parcel and put them to respond to the day cycle. I'd put a large bunch of them in a small clearing, and remembered Studio Skye's Faery Ring and rezzed that beneath them.
  2. Titled "Monday Morning after DST" or, alternatively, "Madpea is Genius."
  3. The Billie head is gorgeous. I may have a new default. I say "may". I'm really attached to my Avalon. But dadgum...
  4. This is what I came here to say. You can make your parcel (or region) open to group members only, make the group so you have to have an invite to join (i.e., no open join), and none of his avatars will be able to get in, period.
  5. I live in an estate where we do seasons, and we just hit spring this past weekend. I've been planning a complete overhaul of my parcel, so I ripped that sucker down to the ground and rebuilt everything, including the house (I built a new one with Marcus Inkpen's ModIt kit, the Fantasy variant). My next-door neighbors in the castle to the right of the picture hopefully won't mind their view being changed too terribly much
  6. I redid my off-sim stuff. I'd been using a few prefabs, which were great, but I wanted something new, so I cobbled this together out of stuff from my inventory and kept a few of the prefabs... or parts of one. The estate where I live does seasons, and with this I can totally do season changes
  7. RL, I'd drop my job down to extreme part-time, basically just the stuff only I know how to do (I'm not indispensable, but I am convenient and my employers are fond of their convenience), and I'd insist on remote. If they didn't want me to be 98% remote, they could find someone else to run that extremely specialized software. We'd abandon the current house to the kids (aged 21 and 25) and their respective girlfriends, and move somewhere with a kitchen that's been updated since 1983, a reasonably-sized yard for our Sulcata tortoise to run amok, and a tortoise keeper because Sam is really annoyed when we try to bring him in when it's cold. Then we'd sock the rest of it away in a trust/ annual distribution type scenario, because stupid is as stupid does, and an obscene amount of readily disposable cash is just asking for it. We may or may not leave a forwarding address SL, I'd talk to my current landlord about getting a full region for me to take out my landscaping aggression on, and I'd drag my next door neighbors over with me. It would have to be a 30K region because we all basically eat LI for breakfast. And then when I filled up that region, I might get one more just for funsies. Oh, and I'd find a parcel in Bay City to buy or rent, because I've always been interested in that area. I already rent on the Blake, but I might upsize or purchase there. I'd also have so much fun providing matching funds for donations and participating in the auctions at Fantasy Faire
  8. Thank you! I've come a long way in the past couple of years Editing to add the picture I worked on today. It was not taken during the same session as the picture I posted Monday, but it is very obviously the same build. I set the lighting in a few of my shots to have as much contrast as I could manage, with an eye to taking one of them down to black and white. Then when I did that, I thought, "Hey, a little color might be nice..." So, much jaw-clenching and shouting at Photoshop later, mischief managed. Now I need a muscle relaxer
  9. This is the problem with alts: you make them, you care for them, you nurture them, you BUY THEM SO MANY CLOTHES OMG!!! And the thanks you get is a drained account balance, a permanent squatter in your home, and being treated like an armrest.
  10. I'm desperately awaiting the end of winter in the estate where I live (just ten more days of endless, unrelenting white!), so to keep myself from going around the bend, as well as to test out some thoughts for landscaping re-design, I rented some land and entertained myself with building. I'm now done... and spring is still 10 days away
  11. Not exactly my avatar... but still my avatar 😁
  12. Yeah, as I said, it breaks any functionality of the eyes because... well, you're not wearing them. I'm really not sure what the rationale was, other than "let's make EVERYONE wear applier eyes!" I'm sure that's not it, to be honest... but if you want your eyes to look reasonable (BOM eyes in their native state have a much larger appearance to the iris), you'll have to.
  13. No, we couldn't be bothered to put on real clothes.
  14. I had this problem yesterday and asked in the group. Apparently you have to remove the mesh eyes to get the system eyes to show. As far as I can tell, this also disables the ability to resize or reposition the eyes, since you're not wearing the LAQ eyes (I may be incorrect on that last bit). I actually bought it at the group price (I collect heads and bodies; it's a sickness ); I can't say I'll be using it at this point. The BOM eye issue has me cranky, especially as any other head that enables moving/ resizing of eyes ALSO enables it with BOM... but that's definitely a "me" thing and others' mileage may totally vary. I'll still take it out to play with it. It's good to know what's out there
  15. If Cinnamon's suggestion hasn't worked, I've noticed bake times are a bit wonky lately. Try adding another BOM layer then taking it off, or whatever your general go-to is for forcing a rebake.
  16. This is a really good point (and I'm sorry I'm just now wandering across it over a week later). From what I've seen (I've visited a few virtual worlds, some longer than others, although I concentrate my time in SL), resident retention seems to be higher when people enter a virtual world either with a group they already know, or when they meet a group of similarly-experienced people while they're all still new. I still have friends I met my first week in SL. Shoot, I married one of them RL. In the end the big thing with SL is patience. Patience in learning how to use the software, patience in learning how to customize your avatar, patience in acquiring a wardrobe (I will admit I am not patient with this and I have SO MUCH STUFF... my inventory weeps), and patience in finding your virtual niche. That niche may change over time, as clubs rise and fall, and other areas come and go, but you'll find yourself eventually surrounded by overlapping portions of those groups, and your circle will continue to expand. One thing I'd say is to never put all your eggs in one virtual basket, be it one community, one club, and heavens forfend, one person. The one constant in SL is change, and having varied interests helps balance things out when one flies off-kilter.
  17. I've not done a lot of close crops, but I was scrolling in on the larger version of this picture and the area posted below ended up framed in my monitor.
  18. Yeah, I get that realism and details are A Thing, but this looks like girlfriend forgot to exfoliate and use her moisturizer. Also primer, hello! I'm 53 in RL -- sorrynotsorry to break the illusion that I'm thirty years younger -- and my skin isn't this rough. The brows are... a choice. I get that less groomed (or maybe way differently groomed?) is a thing now, and it's not one I'm embracing in either world. But that's not the "OMG WHY" that the skin texture is.
  19. You're welcome! It's happened to a couple of friends (as well as to me lol) so I had a feeling I knew what it was even before I opened the thread
  20. The upper and lower half of your body have two different materials on. In your Legacy hud, first tab, click one each of the shine and bump dots on the hud: That should make it so you don't see a line.
  21. I love Justice and have picked up some of the LaraX updates from them The Infinity Project is awesome -- it's great knowing things have been rigged to work with each other.
  22. I dragged everyone inworld for a family picture. I'm not entirely pleased with it, but I'm not sure I'm annoyed enough by it that I'll try to do a retake.
  23. Nah... why would I bother? They're either someone who doesn't like me, for fair reasons or foul, or it could be as simple as the friendship has run its course. With the former, if I offended someone to the point where they unfriended me, then that's what we call consequences; even if I think the reason I've been unfriended is bogus, I've learned that people ultimately believe what they want, and anything I have to say won't have any bearing on what they perceive to be the facts of the matter. For the latter, relationships can 100% have expiration dates; friendship is no exception. My alts are generally for cruising shopping events or hanging out uninterrupted. My guy alt is unabashedly me, down to his profile practically screaming it. My friends know who all of them are, and I'm blatantly obvious with some, like AjayMcDowwll Alter. I had to make her just to grab that last name
