  1. There are nose deformers that will do this. I think Zora has a more Roman nose; not sure if any of the Native EvoX heads do (Avalon and forward).
  2. Thanks Her mouth is beautiful. My caveats are the chin is more round and I like Avalon's more pointed chin, plus the nose is SO VERY STRAIGHT DID YOU SEE HOW STRAIGHT IT IS BECAUSE STRAIGHT. Like angular. Like, you could cut things with either side of her nose's bridge. It's not the skin or added shading layers either -- here's Avalon in the exact same setup: It's not bad, but it's so strong I end up giving it a bit of side-eye. That said, I'm more accustomed to Avalon's softer nose, so it's not a con for Noel in general, just a characteristic.
  3. Noel is just lovely. I'll stick with my Avalon because I adore her, but if Avalon didn't exist, I'd be all over this. I'm still futzing with Kris for my m'alt. It's a nice head, but I think I need to ship him off to grab some of the freebie skins
  4. I'm just annoyed I can remember them all, but not where I put my car keys.
  5. Lily was the gift in 2020, then Kaya in 2021, and Raven in 2022. Avalon has never been free, but it was the first native-EvoX head released, so tons of people leapt on it.
  6. Looking at the list of what she's wearing, she's got on the regular BOM skin, but is also wearing the 4K hairbase, neck blend (as Rowan said above), and blush. Have her remove all of the universal layers (the ones with the three red squares as the symbol, not the squigglies) and see if that improves matters. If she wants to wear the hairbase and the blush, she needs to use the regular BOM versions (with the squigglies) so the mapping will match the face skin she's wearing.
  7. From the Firestorm Website: Looks like there is hope for 32-bit viewer users, but with the "most likely" caveat, so we shall see. Hopefully it won't be blocked; I understand tech having to advance, but I'd hate for anyone to be essentially priced out of SL due to hardware they're not able to upgrade at this time.
  8. Naturally, after I finalized the picture and started sending it out, I found at least two things I should have caught LOL -- oh well
  9. Neve's Fameshed release (Student dress, Graduate jacket) is not rigged for LaraX, but since thankfully Neve's clothing is mod I was able to strip the v4 autohide and put in the v5. There was a tiny bit of clipping toward the top of the back at the shoulder blades that couldn't be resolved with alpha cuts, but I made an alpha layer that took care of that issue. No alpha: With alpha: There is still a tiny bit of clipping on the neckline, but I wear long hair which covers that area most of the time so it's not an issue for me. Wearing the jacket hides the clipping. And since I'm one of those body flip-floppers, I can always switch to my Legacy body and use that rig if I'm annoyed enough by the neck issue.
  10. No, I appreciate it! This is going to have something of a learning curve for many of us, I think. And yeah, the HDR thingie may have been what did this initially; I was using a total darkness EEP I'd bought at some point, and haze density is set to zero on it.
  11. Okay, not awesome resolution here, but it gets the point across. TL:DR (or didn't watch) -- it's the haze density setting. Moving the haze density slider to zero results in the mostly black hair thingie. If anyone with actual technical expertise wants to explain why this is a thing, that's awesome; if I don't know why the haze impacts it like this, it could circle around to bite me again in some way. But I have a practical solution for now, at least.
  12. I am playing with various environmental sliders in the SL viewer to see what caused this effect. I think this is something to do with environment that's impacted by PBR, but please don't hold me to that. I majored in English. This is not my area of any sort of expertise. The non-PBR viewer had materials enabled. I'm going to keep poking at this.
  13. From Firestorm, with heavy post-processing (I like mucking about with desaturating/ saturating stuff at the moment).
  14. Regarding the latest SL viewer, I'm having an... is it an aesthetics problem? A photography problem? Although it happens regardless of whether or not I'm taking a picture. To the point, my avatar's hair is a very light color, and when I turn off all SL lighting and use a lighting prim instead, my hair goes dark in the PBR viewer. It's like how lights affected it in the older system, but worse, and angle doesn't appear to change it. Is there a workaround? I'm just wondering if this is the new normal or if there's a fix in the works, or a way to work with the lighting of which I'm not yet aware. Non-PBR Viewer (Firestorm Viewer 6.6.16.70339): PBR Viewer (Second Life Viewer 7.0.1.6894459864😞 These are taken in the same place, same lighting (no light), same lighting source (light prim), same light intensity/ radius/ falloff/ color. I like the detail in the PBR photo along with the fact that I'd not have to edit the brightness in post-processing, but the haircolor is a full-stop. I'm aware we're all moving to PBR, so I was wondering if there's going to be some sort of fix or workaround for this, because lighter hair in SL is hardly uncommon. If I should have posted elsewhere, please let me know. Thank you.
  15. This is the original picture: And here's the AI variant: I am not at all good at this lol -- it's entertaining to see what the AI decided to do with my original jewelry. And I think they took my crow's wing and made it into hair? It's cool, though
  16. Yeah, I think the only body you can't descript is Legacy, which is a shame because its script count is insane. Doesn't stop me from wearing it (OMG LaraX please come out asap!), but it does make me twitch a bit.
  17. Yeah, I'm aware; I worded it poorly That'll teach me to post before drinking my coffee.
  18. That's something I miss with my current Legacy default. I am super stoked for this update... and hopeful
  19. When I have a complex outfit, I'll throw together a PNG file of a list of things I want to remember, like move lipstick slider to X, use Y applier, etc., smack it on a prim, then attach it as a hud. It's helpful for those outfits... and I cannot imagine doing it on a daily basis because it would drive me utterly insane.
  20. Don't you hate it when your alt's looking better than you are? Same head, same shape, but the pose and the skin/ coloring/ makeup are doing it for me with the redhead, not so much with myself LOL Also, we look like we're both either smiling, or ate something that's starting to disagree with us...
  21. Yet another picture I can't name, because decisions are hard.
  22. The most popular bodies on the grid are Maitreya and Reborn, with I believe Kupra and Legacy behind them Which one you choose will depend on how you like to shape your body, so you'd want to get demos of all of them. A word of warning: Maitreya has a HUGE update coming out that will change the body somewhat, so that's something to keep in mind. For heads, most of the major brands on the Grid now use the EvoX template. The head that most jewelry items and the like are rigged for is the Lelutka EvoX; get demos there, and if their aesthetic isn't your thing there are other head brands, and you can still find heads mapped for SLUV, which is supported by some creators even now. Skins are mostly sold separately, one for the head and another for the body, due to the wide variety of combinations that are now possible. Some creators do single skins like back in the day, but they are not in the majority. Heads that use the Bento skeleton (anything that uses the EvoX mapping will do this) can be altered using the sliders. How far they can be altered will depend on the head itself, so again, get demos and try those out before you commit to paying for a full version. Also, as Cinnamon pointed out, the Black Friday sales will be starting up in a couple of weeks. Many body creators reduce their prices then, as do head creators. You can also find skins and clothing on sale during that time, so you may want to wait a little. Or not. Sometimes you just want to fix everything NOW, and not wait For privacy to set up your avatar, many of the new resident areas have changing rooms; some are even partitioned off so no one but you can see what you're doing. Also, this is a great glossary of the current terminology out there for avatar components. It's more geared toward the male avatar, but the words still mean the same thing for female avatars: https://virtualbloke.com/archives/3711 Good luck Feel free to IM me inworld if you have questions (just remind me who you are if you do, because I am old and my brain hates me lol)
  23. I love, love, love the Fairyspell. I found the version with pre-defined walls a bit claustrophobic, and I love flinging my own walls up instead The door just past the pantry in the kitchen picture leads to a bathroom/ utility room combo I apparently didn't get a picture of lol -- more later I guess, when I'm home and can take the pics
  24. This is a kind of redo of a picture I took at Fantasy Faire this year, but I've upped my lighting skills a little least?
  25. It's the Great Elm Cottage from Scarlet Creative
